Belphegor is definitely not a highly superstitious person, and I highly doubt that he’d hope for something arguably fatuous such as fortune. In fact, he’s even said so himself, in chapter 101, where Gokudera asked rhetorically whether the knives hitting its mark despite the wind turbines was “ dumb luck “ to which Belphegor replied arrogantly that “ A prince doesn’t need to rely on luck “. Very Belphegor-typical, as usual. That’s not saying that he doesn’t believe in luck at all, at least in the context of other people. He doesn’t conform solely to logic, and he’s not above thinking that some things might be the work of fate.

Honestly, Belphegor handles being lied to surprisingly well. It’s not particularly insulting / provoking to him, and like many things, he’d just think it’s mildly amusing and laugh about it. That’s not to say he won’t kill the person who’s lying to him anyway, Belphegor doesn’t actually require any actual reason at all to just pull out the knives and start stabbing, but I don’t think he would perceive lying as something offensive. I mean, he can be pretty insincere as well, he’s probably stretched the truth ( or just massacred it entirely ) quite a few times himself. With the environments he grew up in, he’s just extremely normalized to people being horrible and morally corrupt, which is why again, he really doesn’t take personal offense at people lying to him, trying to murder him, etc. he’ll retaliate more due to some warped sense of principle, than actually feeling like it’s justified.

Belphegor definitely looks up to Xanxus, and probably even has a mild amount of hero worship for the man, at least however much his ‘ holier-than-everyone-else ‘ attitude will allow. This is mostly due to having been taken in by Xanxus at an early, impressionable age, and Belphegor really respected him for his strength and probably, like pretty much all the Varia Commanders, he’s been mysteriously bewitched by Xanxus’s famous charismatic and all-consuming wrath. Other than his boss, Belphegor also sort of imprinted, I guess is the word, on Mammon, though I think Belphegor has a lot less overall respect for the Arcobaleno, and more of sibling-like relationship, where he annoys the hell out of the other but ultimately will miss them when they’re gone. At the very least, Belphegor has major league fascination with Mammon’s powers as an Arcobaleno, and I believe this is partially because he doesn’t understand what they are or where they come from ; they completely stump his genius.
