it would not take much for kakyoin to turn evil .

WELL   . . .   technically it took a fleshbud .   but leading up to that ,   there’s a lot of speculation about why   /   how kakyoin didn’t escape from dio like avdol did ,   &   i think the logical explanation for that is just that avdol was very lucky that he encountered dio in the place he was born   &   knew how to navigate the backstreets to get away from him .   but even if kakyoin had that same advantage ,   i don’t think he would have gotten away .   he was drawn to dio ,   &   even when he realized that he was in trouble ,   he was already paralyzed with fear   &   unfortunately became a victim .

    also ,   it depends on where in the timeline we’re talking about .   kakyoin is definitely   ‘   good   ’   in the sense that he has a righteous heart   &   is motivated by things like compassion   &   empathy for others ,   but he is not opposed to doing some fucked up shit if he thinks it’s for the greater good .   he has   &   will   kill people without hesitation if he thinks they deserve it .   he’s different from jotaro in that sense that he isn’t as merciful   &   can be pretty vindictive when he wants to be lol .

    but i don’t think he’d go   evil   at all .   dio is the most disgusting   &   vile creature ever born in kakyoin’s eyes   &   the idea of being anything like him would make him physically ill .

kakyoin gets road rage .

    literally ,   no .   but at heart ??   absolutely .   kakyoin puts on entire musicals in the shower .   &   he’s got quite a voice ,   too !!   he could have made it on broadway in another life .

contrary to what some people in this fandom think ,   he actually doesn’t know anything about fnaf .   but his son does   &   since jotaro often makes the excuse of having some paper or something to work on ,   kakyoin is often the one on the other end of jouta’s fnaf infodumps   ━━━━   but in all honesty ,   he really doesn’t mind .   he’s not gonna remember half of what jouta is telling him because he kind of doesn’t care but he knows how important it is for a kid to feel like they’re being listened to by their parents ,   especially when it comes to something they’re passionate about ,   so he does genuinely give him his attention   &   listens intently even though he will flush the information out of his brain later to make room for useless trivia to annoy jotaro with .

kakyoin is oblivous to any and all romantic interest someone may show them .

this is true for him as a teen ,   but not so much when he’s an adult .   as he gets older ,   kakyoin becomes very aware that he is attractive   &   that he gets attention from people of all genders ,   especially men .   &   though the only man he wants is his jojo ,   he is not opposed to using his attractiveness to get what he wants when the opportunity presents itself ,   lol .

    the only exception is with an oc of mine ,   yong ,   who he trained with at spw   &   had sort of a friends - with - benefits arrangement while kakyoin was trying to   ‘   get over   ’   jotaro during their breakup / not together for whatever reason era ,   but well .   we all know how that ends .   &   kak thought the fwb   ‘   relationship   ’   was purely physical   &   separate from their friendship ,   but that couldn’t have been further from the truth .   &   by the time they reunite in morioh   &   kakyoin   &   jotaro are together   . . .   things get weird   &   awkward real quick lmfao because while kakyoin has no idea that yong is interested in him as more than a friend ,   jotaro notices   immediately .

kakyoin wears hello kitty socks .

he is partial to keroppi but hello kitty socks are not off the table .

kakyoin is the gay cousin .

a few of his cousins on the himura side in morioh are also gay but yes ,   he is   thee   gay cousin .

kakyoin bullies kids on roblox .

if he ever played roblox he would absolutely be arguing with twelve - year - olds   &   would probably get banned from playing by jotaro .

kakyoin has a diary that they write in with a glittery gel pen .

he does keep a diary !!   but kakyoin is very serious about all things stationery   /   office supplies   &   would hate glitter gel pens because they’re not neat   &   look tacky .   he definitely does use colored ink though   &   color codes his diary by everything from day to emotion to people mentioned lmfao .   &   he loves highlighter pens   &   stamps   &   makes use of those a lot ,   too .   you best believe their family calendar in the kitchen is immaculately organized   &   color coded to the gods .

    on that note ,   once he’s living in florida with jotaro he is like constantly shipping in this stuff from japan because american stationery stores simply do not go as hard .   jotaro doesn’t even blink when he sees like forty dollar shipping on their credit card statement .

kakyoin has an incredible spice tolerance .

he does !!   kakyoin has always has a diverse palate thanks to his parents being well - traveled   &   relatively open - minded ,   but he really built his spice tolerance when he was living in korea during his spw training years .   he went from barely being able to finish the super spicy dishes there to adding gochujang   &   gochugaru to everything he cooks ,   lol .

ever since kakyoin began celebrating christmas with the kujos / joestars   (   he was raised by a shinto - buddhist mother   &   a father wholly disinterested in religion   &   most holidays in general ,   thus ,   christmas was never really   a thing   for him until he got married   ) ,   he’s found himself   entirely charmed   with the sparkly decorations   &   the warmth of joy they bring .   he puts a lot of effort into making their home shine ,   embodying the spirit of the holidays in every corner ,   &   finds pleasure in personalizing the décor to their family’s tastes   (   of course   there are cherry - themed ornaments on the tree ,   &   jouta made a dolphin ornament at school for jotaro when he was in kindergarten that kakyoin will   never   throw away   ) .   his mother ,   sakura ,   has even joined in on the merriment ,   hand - crafting personalized sweaters for everyone starting as early as september   &   badgering noriaki to supply updated measurements for her rapidly growing grandson .

&   of course   sakura   &   holly make it their mission to find the cutest matching pajamas for everyone to wear on christmas morning .

    nobody asked but here is the   official timeline   of kakyoin’s work with the speedwagon foundation .   mostly for my own reference ,   but it’s important to know where he’s at in each verse !!

1989-91 :   BASIC TRAINING .   kakyoin balances going to university full - time with his initiation into spw .   this era includes his orientation   &   a very basic introduction to the mechanisms of the special operations department ,   specifically   stand research ,   since this is his specialty .

1991-93 :   FIELD TRAINING .   with his certifications for lab   &   desk work mostly complete ,   kakyoin begins conditioning to be a field researcher   &   special operations agent ,   choosing to complete the program offered in   south korea .   much of what he endures during this time is   classified ,   but the bulk of it sees him furthering his potential with his stand   &   completing a series of missions   (   solo ,   partner ,   &   group   )   to get a feel for what field work actually entails ,   &   how dangerous it can be .   with a starting class of 105 ,   only 45 students complete the two year program .   kakyoin graduates with the highest rank .

1993-99 :   FIELD RESEARCHER   /   SPECIAL OPS AGENT .   in light of completing all his training ,   kakyoin begins his field career .   he maintains a home base in korea for two years ,   returning to japan in 1995 .   during this era ,   he travels the world extensively for work ,   taking on assignments varying in severity   &   duration ,   but regardless ,   he is away from home for months at a time ,   causing his mother great distress .   in late spring of 1999 ,   he requests to go to morioh to aid in the upcoming investigation .

1999 :   THE MORIOH SAGA .   kakyoin wishes to stay in morioh long - term ,   but as he rises in rank at spw ,   his list of responsibilities grow   &   he is needed for other tasks .   eventually ,   he manages to convince the current department head to allow him to stay full - time ,   finally able to dedicate all of his energy into helping jotaro ,   josuke ,   &   the others uncover the stand - wielding culprit behind the gruesome attacks threatening the women of the town .   he is instrumental in uncovering the secret behind yoshikage kira’s stand ,   as well as unveiling his identity .

2000-02 :   HEAD OF STAND RESEARCH DEPARTMENT .   for his outstanding work in morioh ,   as well as his indispensable contributions to the special ops division during his career thus far ,   kakyoin is promoted to department head .   this sees him doing less field work ;   only set out for major assignments or to assist where things have gone awry in the field .   he spends most of his time overseeing and assigning missions   &   handling domestic affairs ,   such as stand users being held in custody .   he also becomes responsible for all of the foundation’s information on   dio ,   &   virtually anything relating to him as more information   &   remnants come to light .   in 2002 ,   he spends several months in italy following up with the new passione headed by dio’s son ,   giorno giovanna .   in light of their ensuing bond ,   passione   &   spw’s special ops division form an unlikely alliance that is   the first of its kind . 

2002-09 :   DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL OPERATIONS .   following his forging a bond between an organization led by one of   the most powerful known stand users   (   not to mention passione’s existence as a crime organization   ━━━━   forming such a relationship had been   no easy feat   ) ,   kakyoin is promoted once again to a leadership role over the entire special operations department .   at thirty - one years old at the time of his acceptance of the position ,   he is the youngest person at speedwagon in such a powerful role .   his responsibilities have increased tenfold ,   however ,   with infinitely more to oversee   &   weigh in on .   with young child at home ,   kakyoin begins to yearn to spend more time with him   &   his husband ,   but he’s also worked incredibly hard to get to this position   &   is incredibly passionate about his work .   he manages to maintain something of a balance for seven years ,   before ultimately electing to step down from his role in favor of taking a civilian job as a professor .   though sad to see him go ,   his colleagues understand his ambition to put his family first ,   &   his affiliation with the organization is everlasting ,   as well as the respect he has earned   throughout his career .

2011 :   EMERGING FROM RETIREMENT .   with his family   &   life falling apart at the orchestration of dio’s   last remaining lapdog ,   kakyoin makes the choice to temporarily return to his role at spw in order to assist jolyne   &   the others ,   &   to keep watch over jotaro ,   staying by his side as he works from the shadows to supply jolyne with resources   &   support .   his connections also allow him to bring   giorno giovanna   &   josuke higashikata   into the fight to turn the tides to their favor ,   snuffing out what seems to be the last of dio’s ideology for good   &   returning to their normal lives .   for now .

kak did not celebrate his first halloween until after he was out of the hospital and was invited to a party with his newfound popularity at school. jotaro was also invited but i imagine he like never goes to anything he’s invited to but kak forces manages to convince him to come along and even though they keep to themselves the whole night, they have a lot of fun. despite kak having to explain his kitsune costume about a million times.

in his adulthood, he comes to love all the spooky festivities but his favorite part is giving candy to the kiddos for sure. and once he has kids of his own, he loves to take them out trick-or-treating while they’re still young — they make a lot of sweet (pun intended lol) memories and wear matching costumes, especially as they enter their power rangers phase. and once they get older and are too cool for that, he still enjoys helping them put together their costumes and lingering by with a smile as they sort through their candy with their friends.

⚾️   ━   does your muse enjoy sports ??   do they play any ,   or do they simply prefer to watch ??   do they have a favorite sport ??

kakyoin is a   casual sports enjoyer   for sure !!   it’s never been something he was especially deeply interested in   (  things like art ,   literature / poetry ,   &   film are his   core   interests   ) ,   but his father has long been a baseball fan   &   despite their strained relationship ,   this shared interest was the one thing they could always bond over as he grew up .   this considered ,   baseball has something of a sentimental value to him ,   &   he upholds this into adulthood in watching   &   going to games with his own kids .

he never   seriously   played any sports ,   but his parents would sometimes sign him up for sports camps during his childhood in an attempt to get him to be more social .   kakyoin was not particularly athletic back then ,   though ,   aside from being a decently fast runner ,   so this never really caught on .   (   sidenote ,   but he   hates   sweating ,   &   in addition to feeling out of place to begin with ,   he really wasn’t all that   inspired   to give an earnest effort ,   lol   ) .

given that we just discussed his lack of athleticism in childhood ,   allow me to redeem him a little by saying that once he’s older   (   &   starts actively training with his stand   ) ,   kakyoin is in excellent shape   &   can achieve physical feats that most people can’t .   i’ve always thought that for those who have stands that manifest as a physical ,   humanoid being outside of themself ,   if more they train   &   take care of their own body ,   it reflects in their stand in some ways ,   too   ━━━━   in the same vein that if your stand is injured / harmed in some way ,   the user suffers similar or even identical inflictions .   once kakyoin realizes this ,   it’s all the more motivation for him to ensure he’s in good physical condition .

spw agent training is also   very rigorous ,   &   kakyoin not only took it very seriously but finished top of his class .   his flexibility   &   core strength increases significantly during this time ,   &   he tends to maintain it by exercising on a strict schedule   &   doing yoga   &   pilates to keep his body strong   &   to maintain control over it .   sparring is also a great way to sharpen his combat skills ,   but his peers rarely ever want to spar with him because he’s hard to beat ,   lol   ━━━━   what he may lack in sheer physical strength ,   he makes up for in technique   &   strategy .

i have never imagined kak doing parkour but honestly   . . .   i feel like a lot of spw / combat training is just glorified parkour anyway so why not lmao .   imagine the morioh kids see him do a backflip in the middle of a fight   &   are like   kakyoin - san teach us how to do that right now   ━━━━

it depends on where in his timeline we’re examining ;   kak has come quite a   long   way from the person he was when he first encountered dio .   back then ,   he’d never really experienced   true fear   like that before   ━━━━   isolation aside ,   kakyoin lived a pretty normal life up until that point ,   meaning he didn’t really have much to be afraid of   (   aside from like ,   dying alone ,   but that’s an existential kind of fear   &   it’s something he could just shove to the back of his brain when he didn’t want to think about it lol   ) .   so that moment when dio approached him was the first time in his life that he had ever felt genuinely   scared ,   paralyzed with fear   &   unable to push it down anywhere ;   completely at dio’s mercy .

&   it was partially because he was feeling so many complex emotions at that time that he fell victim to the mousetrap ,   but i think that polarizing concoction of terror   &   comfort really disoriented him   &   made him completely vulnerable ;   even more so than he already was being a despondent gay teenager who’s finally met someone that can see the part of him that no one else could . 

i think it’s safe to say he didn’t really   ‘ handle ’   that situation in the best way ,   but who can blame him ??   he had to be either 16 or newly 17 at the time ,  &   beyond that ,   i don’t think   anything   could have prepared him to face dio for the first time ,   even if he wasn’t in such a dark place already .

throughout their journey to egypt ,   kakyoin spends a lot of time reflecting on that experience   &   the events that took place while he was under the influence of the fleshbud .   he   knew   that he had to face dio again   &   conquer his fear of him if he ever wanted to move on with his life   &   reach his fullest potential   (   also ,   he just wants   revenge ,   &   that in itself is an entire other   world   of motivation ,   alongside helping jotaro   &   holly   ) ,   so any spare moment he gets to psych himself up to look dio in the face   &   do everything in his power to end his literal reign of terror doesn’t go to waste .

&   let me tell you how proud of him i am for doing the damn thing .   he not only faced dio head on but didn’t buckle or yield in the slightest ,   he held his head high   &   he was fully prepared to put everything on the line to stop him .   i know i’m totally biased ,   but i get   actual chills   thinking about how courageous he was in that scene .   that moment was so liberating for him ,   &   even if it didn’t end in the way he’d hoped   (   kakyoin is not fucking dead what are you talking about   ) ,   he had never seen or known himself clearer than he did in that moment ,   never felt more dignified   &   accomplished .   the fear was gone .   &   he knew he could rely on his friends to take care of the rest .

after that ,   kakyoin is virtually fearless .   of course he’s human   &   still   feels   scared from time to time ,   but i mean that fear will never hinder or stop him ever again .   it motivates him ;   it’s another thing that gets his blood pumping   &   reminds him of everything he’s survived .   why can’t he survive this ,   too ?? 

okay i spent way too much time on the first question so let me speedrun the last four .   kakyoin likes horror aesthetics but he’s generally not all that interested in actual horror films because he finds all the gore   &   stuff very distasteful ;   he’d much rather read some horror manga that’s artfully done or read some edgar allen poe or something   &   conjure up the macabre in his own mind than have it played up for shock value .   he just thinks it’s kind of lame .   i think literally any stand user should believe in the paranormal ,   especially since they can see ghosts   &   shit .   but even before all of that was apparent to him ,   kak definitely believed in ghosts   &   ‘ the other world ’ .   beyond the water tower thing ,   he works as an agent at spw now so of   course   he has scary stories   ━━━━   man has a near - death experience at least once a week in the height of his field career lmfao .

as for what calms him down ,   he actually has an unwitting habit of hierophant wrapping its tendrils around him ;   usually his legs if he’s sitting down   &   his shoulders   &   arms if he’s standing .   this stems from not really having anyone to turn to for comfort when he was a child   ━━━━   he had his mother ,   in theory ,   but once their relationship entered its strained era ,   he didn’t really feel comfortable approaching her for something so vulnerable .   &   his dad   . . .   lmfao .

another thing that calms him is sketching   &   painting .   he has a sketchbook literally filled to the brim with random stuff he’d drawn on the way to egypt   (   it’s mostly jotaro lmfao but anyway   )    when he felt anxious or couldn’t get his mind to settle .   it’s something he carries into adulthood ,   too ;   he’s usually not the type to carry a lot of things around but he definitely makes sure his clothes have pockets big enough to fit his lil sketchbook .

💤   ━   how does your muse sleep ??   are they a light sleeper ,   or are they out the moment their head hits the pillow ??   do they nap ??   do they struggle to sleep due to things like insomnia ,   or nightmares ??

i’m ngl he kind of sleeps like shit lol .   i mean ,   the few times we see him sleeping in canon he’s either unconscious or having a nightmare ,   &   obviously there’s the factor that he’s on some gayass journey to fight an evil bisexual vampire that he is terrified of   &   that definitely wouldn’t help anyone get a good night’s rest ,   but i feel like it could go deeper than that .   i imagine most of the other crusaders are just happy to have a few hours of peace   &   a warm bed when they can find it ,   not to mention they’re fuckin exhausted from all of the fighting   &   traveling ,   but it seems like kak in particular continues to have a hard time ,   whether it’s because he’s trying to psych himself up to face dio again or if he has a history of sleeping problems .

it’s hard to ever be fully comfortable in an environment where you feel as though you’re constantly being judged .   i could easily see kakyoin being that angsty teen that stays up late drawing in his sketchbook or writing in his gay little journal or playing video games on mute because maybe he feels like the late night when his parents are asleep is the only time he can really be himself without consequence .   but he’s an early riser ,   too ,   &   has   never   been late to school ever in his life ,   so he averages a disgustingly low amount of sleep every night   &   has trained himself to function on that . 

as an adult ,   kakyoin still has some troubles with sleep   (   he’s a remarkably light sleeper after egypt   &   also has literal ptsd so ,   you know ,   not a good combination   ) ,   but has mostly grown out of his teenage habits ,   aside from when he stays up late for work .   but generally ,   through his years in the field ,   he’s learned the vitality of proper rest   &   listening to his body when it demands repose   ━━━━   not to mention once jouta is born   &   screams the night away throughout his infancy ,   he vows to never take sleep for granted again lol .   that being said ,   he’d never had an inclination toward naps before but after becoming a dad ,   once that baby is asleep   HE   is asleep .   they napping together because he knows damn well the moment jouta wakes up all hell will break loose .
