an idea i really like: rather than being another soul trapped inside the body of golden freddy, evan doubles as the entity shadow freddy. a nonviolent, reclusive spirit, wearing the twisted face of the animatronic that took his life; with no physical body simply because evan didn't die in the diner. he makes the active choice to help his father (to lure the animatronics to the safe room in the "follow me" minigames, so william can dismantle them) for the same reasons elizabeth does; that's their dad. they care about him. they want to make him proud. the only spirits haunting the fazbear name that don't hold any animosity towards william. and i'm sure, on some level, evan cares about the other children. but at the end of the day, michael is the only afton working against william.

— i think a lot of the reason michael messed with evan so much was jealousy , specifically over their academic lives . bc evan skipped a year at some point . they're in the same grade , and they had been for a few years before evan's death ( most people made the mistake of thinking they were twins ) . not only were they both starting their freshman year in '83 , but evan was in mostly honors classes ( as well as playing cello for the school orchestra , knowing piano separately , and being involved in several other extracurriculars ) . it wasn't intentional , obviously , but to michael it felt like he was being shown - up by his little brother .

— evan probably got bullied a lot , too , even outside of michael and his friends . being the tiny , stereotypical nerdy kid with anxiety and undiagnosed autism really makes you an easy target , especially when your brother is feeding into it . i don't know that he ever really told his father about it .
