HSR!Zarina and Diamond are besties. That's all you need to know.

"Besties" means she worked for Diamond as a bodyguard for a couple of years (2) when she was teleported from Earth to another world by Elysia.

"Besties" means Diamond sees Zarina as a beast on a symbolic leash.

"Besties" means Diamond is fully aware of who Zarina is (Apostle of Origin/Emanator of Origin) and thus lets her cooperate with IPC and expand the touch of Origin because it's a beneficial ordeal for both sides (IPC gets resources from lands that are more filled with the power of origin and Zarina gets rides and gets access to certain information).

"Besties" means Diamond sees Zarina as a helpful tool and Zarina is fully aware of that because it's vice versa.

"Besties" means Diamond tried to kill Zarina twice and learned that it's a waste of time. She failed once and succeeded once when Zarina allowed to be killed just to prove a point.

"Besties" means Diamond and Zarina have been seen together often but there is no true friendship between them and only mutual benefit.

zarina cannot stand mariah carey's song and her defrosting. it's quite hilarious because several people on her team absolutely love it. during christmas season, zarina is the one who drives the car while everyone sings christmas songs and she looks like she cannot wait to drink and smoke far away. it's comedic gold.

if you were here from the very beginning of this blog, you've heard me mention that zarina was also inspired by... featherine augustus aurora from umineko. and it feeds right into her post metamorphosis verse. and featherine is also the reason why I'm SO insane about black swan as the observer. i love those characters who overlook the story as a whole.

this is how zarina also acts and why she always acts as if she's in total control of the narrative: it's one of her traits, one of the ingredients to her creation. the control or, sometimes, the illusion of control. sometimes, that control can be her observation skillset but it can also be a weakness as someone who sees themselves as distant, isolated, and alone.

zarina, at the very end, is written as a villain who does everything BEHIND THE SCENES, she is not an aggressive villain who does anything out of pure maliciousness. she does everything to watch the show happen, to witness the chaos, to take delight in the entertainment said chaos brings. it's the story of people for her, it's the story of their struggles and their decisions. as a villain and as a character, she is written as someone who looks at many others as characters, as a story, and she may see herself as a writer or an actor as well.

however, she adds the events to make the story more interesting because otherwise... life would be just too boring. and boredom is her biggest enemy because it begets apathy, it brings cold and it brings frigidness that shatters bits of her humanity. by witnessing chaos, she witnesses human nature and thus metaphorically feeds on it to keep herself entertained.

You know what. beta design black swan works great for zarina in genshin after she's absorbed the abyssal serpent because she's becoming a part of the abyss and it's commonly having those darker colors / purples and dark blues. This is perfect. But also add her shorts from the current design and I'd recolor the middle but godssss I wish I had an HQ picture of this.

Casual reminder that Zarina needs to hug something or someone when she's asleep. That's why she has so many plush toys on her bed. She loves her plush toys to hug. She needs to hug someone/something when she's asleep. It's her subconscious desire to be close to someone and not be alone.

I need to scream about this in a whole new post because there is SO MUCH we need to unpack there. and I love how you wrote that morael is a mirror to lucilius because it makes me go and become even more unhinged with how their expressions sometimes match, their eyes cold, their smiles sharp and cold, their approach logical and rational with lack of any sympathy/empathy, and it's just THERE IS SO MUCH. was it intentional? was it not? there are so many possibilities and so many things to note on, to unpack, to add, to discuss. bibi, I'm literally so insane about their messed up dynamic as a creator and creation... mirror creation. oh boi.

going back to jing yuan being a little funny silly cat man and acting like an old man just to spite zarina who is - for memes sake - is considered a fossil for being 50k+ years old.

your muse is a hero who knows zarina is a villain. but your muse is still acting friendly with zarina and she does the same.

why? because they respect each other, they understand where they come from, and they understand where their paths lie.

that means they can drink together in the evenings, laugh about things that they can agree on, perhaps enjoy a play or two, unite when their they do not have to agree on everything, they do not try to change each other.

they co-exist because they know that their views can live in harmony because the world is not just black and white, and they will raise a glass to another day of living.

me thinking about bg3 verse at work:

i'm 100% making her a party member you can recruit in the middle of act i but she's found at the goblin camp and if you agree with her to kill all of the goblin leaders and give her one of the parasites to absorb, she'll join you // or she could've been found on the ship and made into a party member then, getting an additional powerhouse during the last battle before the crash

high elf, sorcerer, criminal or charlatan background (both fit tbqh). draconic bloodline according to bg3 availabilities (but she doesn't have any marks). if tav is also a criminal, they might've heard of each other. // I'd make her a lunar sorcerer but it doesn't exist in bg3 :c

she was abducted because she got betrayed by the person who she was meeting for business, they basically pushed her off but she got snatched by the mind flayers

neutral evil, will agree with both righteous decisions and not so righteous while it entertains her.

has proficiency with a musical instrument and is found playing on it while camping, the first interaction in the camp with her is when she's playing a song and sings about the party's successful raid and hunt.

imma use black swan for several verses with zarina as an aesthetic and appearance/vibe

including gbf actually. i think black swan as zarina in gbf is working insanely good because of the ultimate and hands and the cold smile w/ hollow/frigid gaze

and the sadistic way of how she corrupts and confines the will of others (just like lucilius' words do to her) ? yes. that inability to escape her word.

just thinking about the meta i need to write about her role in canaan and just 'i am the voice of your god, i am the one who inspires fear and awe' (as morael is known the angel of fear/awe) 'you shall listen to the orders given and will be unable to resist them. listen to my words and obey each command.'

zarina in a group friend setting may be your insane friend but if you are her true friends she's the mom and the driver of the group tbqh. she doesn't get drunk easily and she doesn't drink to get drunk on parties. so if you are a true group of girlies going outside for drinks to a bar, she's the one who looks over the girls. she's that mature, untouchable, sexy woman who has so many looking at her but who not many can approach. and she doesn't fear going up against someone who makes her friend uncomfortable. she can fight.
