"No cake or 108 candles," Nat chuckled kissing him softly and handing him a box from a bakery he liked.

"Just a kiss and a cupcake." She knew better than to make a giant fuss, but little things wouldn't be challenged. He was a lot like her that way.

"How's your day been so far?"

"Hi Pot, I'm Kettle." Natasha quipped. They were both hypocrites, it would seem.

"I can never truly make right the things I've done. But I think if I try to do good for the rest of my life, it might balance things out a little." She paused, thinking for a moment.

"When you first met me, did you ever think I could do the amount of good I've done so far? Because even back then, i saw the real you underneath it all."

"Wiping the red out of my ledger." Natasha said, it was a common saying in the Red Room, referencing her kill count. The most prolific widows had ledgers dripping with red.

"Or trying to anyway, I've done so much bad, I want to try to counteract some of it, by helping people, and doing what good I can."

Nat shifted so her full weight wasn't on his good arm while simultaneously moving closer to his warmth.

"Better?" She asked with a teasing smile.

"I don't know how I ever slept without you in bed with me."

"Just checking." Natasha smiled, she could tell he was miserable, but as a public figure some things couldn't be avoided.

"If you want to go home we can," she followed his gaze to the television.

"I'm still not use to it either, I think that's enough for tonight, let's get out of here."

"I need to speak to you privately." Five years ago there hadn't been time, with a battle looming, and then half the world's population was snapped away, now that the chaos of the final battle against Thanos and the funerals for the dead and returning the stones was over, Nat felt the need to clear the air.

"Think you can spare a couple of minutes?"

Just getting through the day was something that Bucky thought he had to face his own. He wasn't the type to include others in his business and had started getting therapy as a result of this. But the things that kept flashing through his mind was the times that he had spent with Natasha. Natasha was beautiful and caring and so many other things, he attempted to reach out to her on a secure line, not thinking that it would result in her picking up. Does it? @sublimetimetravelturtle

Very few had the number for her secure line, so when she picked up, she was expecting Clint or Laura on the other end.

"Hey, how are my favorite niece and nephews? Nat asked not even bothering to question the unknown number, changing numbers in her line of work wasn't uncommon.

She expected a snarky quip from Clint or Laura's laugh to answer her question.

Natasha hummed softly, settling against him, they'd spent enough of their lives alone, it was an awful existence. But now that they had each other and their found family, it was better.

"Besides, you look good all dressed up." She'd cleaned up herself, so at least he had something pretty to look at.

"Gee, thanks." Nat said dryly, when she'd made her decision on Vormir, Natasha understood there was no coming back, but some how, she was alive.

Tony promising reporters exclusives with the Avengers without talking to anybody was aggravating, but that wasn't the reporter's problem, though poking in her past never did anyone any good.

Which was where this current line of questioning was headed. So Nat resorted to being cryptic. Best to leave the past alone.

"I've got a reputation, I've got a name to uphold. The world knows what it needs to know about me." Which was nothing much.

"Okay..." She was trying to play things cool, didn't want to seem too eager, but after everything they'd been through, she wanted to make steps towards a normal life.

She wasn't much of a romantic unless it came to him.

"... what would you think of us looking into adoption?"

"Shut up, you're such a brat!" Nat said rolling her eyes, but getting into the stolen car anyway.

(( you <3'd for a peter! / for nat!)) natasha was a bit harder to read than say, tony, so peter wasn't super sure a donut was the food of choice for the woman but he saw one shaped like a spider and got two; one for her and one for him. he revealed himself from above, hanging upside down, offering her the donut in a zip-lock bag. "you like donuts, right? who doesn't?" @itsybitsypeterparker

Sneaking up on a Black Widow was a difficult, and dangerous thing to do, Nat had clocked the kid long before he appeared with the donut, and damn if Nat didn't have a soft spot for the kid.

"I do like donuts, want to take a donut break with me?" Natasha asked with a fond smile.

"How have you been, kid?"

Natasha grunted and ignored the younger redhead.

Nat didn't have anything against plucky civilians. She just wished they'd leave the fighting to the professionals.

"I can't see what I'm doing. Do you have a jacket or or a belt? Something we can tie around your arm."
