present tense is soooo good for hurt comfort actually like genuinely?? i realized writing emotional scenes feels much more natural to me in this tense and like,,,,

NO EXACTLYYYYYYY it feels so much more natural because past tense feels very detached. "they are in pain" vs. "they were in pain", y'know? just a very different vibe overall (in a good way!)

see. my family has a history of Shitty Eyesight. i've had glasses since like... 4 years old? maybe? but anyways my parents have also always had glasses or eye issues and so have a lot of other people i grew up around. having bad vision was simply such a normal fact of my life that i did not even consider that not everyone has tv static eyes....... ���🙏
