favorites of all time!

way way way back when i set up a spam account so i could send myself things i wanted to read later. essentially turning that chat into my TBR. i have sorted through them & i think the first thing to do with this rebrand is to give you a list of my favorite fics of all time. below you will find a list of my favorite reads with their writers & a smol why for it making the list. these are in no particular order. please enjoy!

from the last 7 years, i have chosen 20 fics that i LOVE. here we go.

from @deansdirtylittlesecretsblog we have a story i remember getting me excited about what kind of writing could be on tblr. "the arrangement" a lost love fic. 9 parts of love & angst.

2. @sis-tafics out here with a sweet sweet physical innocence trope with the hottie dean winchester. "our little secret"

3. @hrina wrote such a beautiful H. Styles fic about his character in dunkirk. "Il Ritorno" is the first part of 3 fics. i love the little coming home to a new place & new people plot.

4. @supernatural-jackles is the author of one of the only fics to make me cry. "hey handsome" i remember reading this sobbing because i felt the emotions written into this SO deeply. I reached out to them & let them know how much i loved it. & i still love it so to this day.

5. @winchest09 is adding our first dark fic to this list. the slow burn on this one is so so so so good. i found this one a long long time ago & i would say it is one of the first fics that got me to explore the mafia verse "life for rent"

6. @negans-lucille-tblr is giving us another spoicy series up in here & it even has a sequal!!!!! (look down one) the ultimate D/s winchester series. it's oh so good! "you've got me beggin"

7. & for the sequel "Mercy" this series is so good i have re-read both 2-3 times. it felt like crack the first read on both of these lol.

8. oh oh oh okay! this next. one from @pink1031 is probably one of my absolute favorite stucky series. "our best girl" was the fic that sent me down a rabbit hole of stucky fics. i was addicted after this one.

9. @pink1031 is back at it again with the ONE fic on this list i know i have read a minimum of 6 times. it is THAT good. "dirty little secret" was so scandalous and sexy. a J2 fic that had me coming back for more all the time. my escapism really shined with this one.

10. i remember finding "lemon drop" by @impala-dreamer i love the dynamic written here between Sam Winchester x the reader. the intimacy in this one-shot is beautiful. this is something i wish i could have at the end of my days or when i feel like the world is too heavy. i felt seen through this fic.

11. @tuiccim 's style of writing is something i adore & admire. I fell in love through "almost had me believing it" it is truly a work of art. I was immersed into this undercover mission with my man BUCKY BARNES.

12. oh & another from @tuiccim with "Terrigenisis" this is such a good poly-stucky fic. the way it was written felt like it could have been canon.

13. WOAH now! this next one written by @world-of-aus is ICONIC. the universe that is "starkhub" is just so delectable. i remember when it was being published in the beginning i was like a dog with a bone. i will never get enough. I can't wait to see where else it gets taken.

14. this next one is quite possibly one of my favorite mob fics. I have linked the first installment of these lovely smutty stucky fics. "tell me what you want" is the first step into such a delicious universe. thank you @angrythingstarlight for all you write.

15. an absolute banger from @sagechanoafterdark with "codename: Lazarus". i can't exclaim loud enough how good this one is. it had me on the edge of my seat. so dynamic. the order in which you read the parts for this one changes the perspective. don't worry they have put an excellent order at the bottom of the masterlist. :)

16. @avintagekiss24 i wanna start out by saying that I love the space you have created with your blog. when i found "lay me down in the tall-green grass" i thought i found fanfic heaven. i will cherish it always. i kept coming back to this one-shot to relive it as much as possible.

17. i've been thinking about "stained like georgia clay" by @georgiapeach30513 a lot lately. i remember binge-reading it & soaking up every droplet of goodness i could. ;) & that thunderstorm scene 🥵. i'll leave you with that...

18. here lies the "howling comandos tattoo au" that altered my brain chemistry just a little. @navybrat817 stole my heart long before this one dropped. however, this au had me sitting patiently waiting with my hands folded.... um no i was mentally ON MY KNEES.

19. i can confidently say that @georgiapeach30513 's "you were the one" is my favorite Lloyd hansen series ever. i crave a fics that are this good. it all started from a one-shot & then i found out a prequel was being written to it & i screamed in excitement.

20. A quality fic that i have had actual dreams about in the past. comes from @themhoodgirlz . for my 5sos girlies out there "close" tingles my brain in the right ways. i reminisce about the dynamic these two have. years ago when i was a BIG 5sos stan i lowkey hoped & dreamed for that to be me lol.

Anything close to mine so around 30 but also beyond. I even like teenager stories sometimes when it connects to a story we write now

Definitely the way how rp in general works now or on tumblr. I also looked into other platforms to rp but this one is my absolute favorite. I found friends here to ask about formatting, terms, promos, tags and how u use gifs or whatever. I love that and appreciate every help any of you ever gave me cause it made me feel immediately welcome ❤️

24. what faceclaim did you start off disliking, that you ended up enjoying or even playing? how did that come about? (non problematic, a personal preference)

Matt smith. Never cared about him. Never watched anything with him. But then I saw him as Daemon and was amazed. Which is super funny cause I hated daemons character the first two episodes but as soon as he was covered in blood like Rick, negan and Tommy (yes that’s a pattern here), me and my friends were immediately like “I have to write that one”. The same literally happened about Cillian first. Never watched anything on purpose, never cared and I’m not into history or politics either so I thought I would hate peaky blinders. But then I watched it and was so amazed by his role that I absolute adore him now. Both characters were recommended for me to write tbh cause I always was like “hmmm can I do it” but my friends were very supportive so I’m very glad about these ideas ❤️ cause yeah, Tommy and daemon fit so perfectly to me and Rick and negan. Make them feral, psychopaths and covered in blood and I’m in 🤣

25. what faceclaim did you start of loving, and now loathe? (non problematic, a personal preference)

Generally musicians or anyone besides actors. It’s a moral thing for me. Like in the past when I was younger I didn’t really see a problem with using real faces and personas for rps or fanfics, but now that I’m older I have so much respect for everyone famous and their privacy, that I make a clear cut between actors (cause they play roles and I write these roles they play not them as personal human beings) and everyone else cause a musician might have a stage persona, but it’s still them so I can’t write them cause it feels like I might be doing something uncomfortable for them if they would read it. I don’t know if that makes sense but I hope you know what I mean. Also in the past i wrote fanfics with anime characters, but I wouldn’t do that anymore cause I only feel connected to real humans and not animated figures anymore. I’m also generally very picky about faceclaims as well cause I need to have a certain connection to their real persona and support their morals to write them.

Who proposed? - Daryl. I think Aaron would’ve probably brought it up, feeling the idea out, feeling how Daryl felt about it but wouldn’t want to push him. Then one day Daryl’d kind of casually be like “so... you wanna do the thing?”

Who is the best man/men? - god... me just sitting here trying to think who’s still alive/around that they’re friends with. I think depending on the timeline it’d be Jesus and/or Rick. ...Can’t actually think of anyone from s10 they’d ask though, huh.

Who is the bridesmaid(s)? - Gracie, Lydia, Judith, Michonne, Carol... many options. Ok forget the best men, just lots of bridesmaids XD

Who did the most planning? - Aaron, though Daryl’d poke his head in and point at food or floral arrangements from time to time.

Who stressed the most? - Daryl, probably. If only about the awkwardness of a ceremony

4. how do your decide on an FC for a new muse

I mean mostly I play Canon characters so the faceclaim search is already done BUT when I make an OC (and I have two atm) I first create the character and the story and then I search for a face or person that fits the energy. Like for Alex I had in mind she should be a female Negan version, so dark hair, quirky energy, sunshine, adventurous and a little tease. It was a coincidence I found Inbar cause I never saw anything she did before but then I watched some scenes with her and was like YES that fits. For Daena it was the same, she should be a mixture between Viserys and daemon as their little sister so I needed a woman with very light hair and typical Targaryen face features which need very sharp cheekbones for example and not the average kind of beauty. I never watched anything of Samara either but her face just fitted her character best. And I try not to take the faces that are too overused. Hope that helps :)

6. which of your muses has the most unique comfort food?

Hmmm I think none of them really has a super unique comfort food. It’s maybe unique that Alex doesn’t like sweets much so she would prefer Asian take out. Rick is an absolute sweet tooth. Negan loves his meat. Daemon and Tommy do not really care about food, they rather drink. So maybe Daena has the most unique comfort food in her world cause she loves lemon tarts since she never had them when she grew up and discovers them in the capitol. So for her it’s super unique, for the people in Westeros it’s probably not.

13. which of your muses would you consider to be the best cook?

Negan without a question.

21. which of your muses tends to get attached to people / things the fastest?

Rick. For sure!

27. which of your muses has the best / most attuned gut instinct? do they listen to it?

Tommy. He’s super smart and always listens to his instincts. I guess Rick comes with Daemon on second place but Tommy is a clear analyst and the most intelligent.

28. which of your muses has had the most character growth since you started writing them?

Alex and Tommy I would say. Alex because she was so detached from any relationships and saw everything as fun and a game until she suddenly started to settle for people she fell in love with. She really turnt into a mother bear with the time and I love that for her. Tommy I would say had his biggest growth in the variety I write him. Every muse I write has a base you can see in every verse. They’re still different but some main character traits are the same. Tommy though is so damn different in his peaky blinders verse compared to the actor or Harry Potter verse. And he differs so much depending on the people he meets. I love how complex he is and I guess that’s one reason I enjoy writing him so much atm.

just an update on verses and canon divergence here, now that the show’s ended:

1. I’ll continue to primarily RP in seasons 7-10 along with pre-savior negan. not saying i’ll never write season 11 stuff but the storyline just doesn’t interest me much and i found the timeline too difficult to follow

2. negan’s “solitary life” verse now basically covers every post-whisperers scenario where he’s out on his own. it includes both his comic ending (exiled after the whisperer war), and the show’s ending (choosing to leave after the commonwealth conflict.)

3. i originally planned to include his relationship with annie in some way... but i’m officially not having it apply to this blog at all, outside of him liking/caring about her. a casual thing or friendship at most. my negan’s never been able to have kids, and i’m not comfortable changing that or having an established relationship happening in the background with a character we ended up learning nothing about. amc unfortunately treated her like a plot device whose entire character revolved around being a love interest and then didn’t show the start nor end of their story, which gives me nothing to work with. that said, i’ll still welcome questions/discussion about their canon relationship and it’s still fine to ask negan about her, and i’m open to the idea of developing a relationship between them should anyone ever rp her, if it works out that way.

4. i plan on having a canon divergent verse where negan stays in alexandria in the end instead of going off on his own.

New day, new place, same old shit... so far, at least. A couple months into this and he’s gotten used to it--- been used to it. By day five people rising from the dead already felt like old news. Watching people constantly die around him, he’s been getting used to that too. Sort of. It’s been wearing on his patience, on any lingering hope he has for humanity’s ability to carry on. Emotionally though, there was never a whole lot to wear down, not after what he lost at the start. There’s no crying over lost strangers or nightmares of seeing them torn apart by hungry corpses. Couldn’t if he tried. He doesn’t see the point.

Negan’s found himself a small abandoned house at the edge of town that he thinks will be safe to stay in for a few days, and has decided to venture into town for any useful shit he can find. He travels alone --- again --- with nothing but a large backpack on his shoulders and a plain, wooden baseball bat strapped to the top. But it’s all he needs, and the distance is short enough that he’s confident he walk there and back with time to spare.

He sees the dark clouds rolling in as he investigates the various shops, hopes the rain will hold off even as he hears the nearing thunder.

It doesn’t. Of course it doesn’t. Before he knows it the sky above him is a horrid dark grey and it’s pissing what he’s pretty sure is a monsoon’s worth of rain on him.

“Goddamn fucking weather,” he curses to himself, adjusting the backpack on his shoulders, only slightly heavier than it was when he first arrived. The wind picks up, lightning cracking the air around him like a whip. There’s no traveling back now, the best he can do is find an open shop and take cover until it passes. And that’s a task all on its own, locked door after locked door and the last thing he wants to is bust a window and risk setting off an alarm that draws in the dead ones. He’s fought those fuckers in the rain before, and it ain’t fun.

He finds one, finally, while he’s taking a breather under an awning. His white T-shirt soaked and clinging to him, hair plastered to his head as he grips the door handle, and he grins with relief when it opens without a fight. “About goddamn time.”

Something, or rather someone, catches his attention from the corner of his eyes just before he takes refuge. There’s a figure a little ways down the road, alive, Negan can tell by the fluidity of their movements, by the lack of slow, lifeless dragging of feet. And he ought to be happy, to see another living breathing soul, but instead he sighs.

Not another one. He just watched two get themselves eaten last week. He can’t again, not this soon, doesn’t want to deal with getting to know yet another lonely survivor just to watch them meet their end soon after.  

He knows that’ll happen, it always does.

But he can’t leave them alone either, some weird innate need to help overriding all the hesitation in his body. Negan huffs, rolls his eyes before calling out.

“HEY, LADY.” His voice booms over the wind and rain the best it can. She turns his way. “Yeah, you. Over here.” No idea if she can understand his words but he waves his arm, beckons for her to follow before disappearing into the shop. If she follows, she follows. If she doesn’t... oh fucking well.

He’s leaning against the front counter, backpack on the floor beside him when the young woman comes running in. “Look who fucking decided to show up.” Negan laughs under his breath as they meet eyes, tries to gauge the state she’s in. Eyes discreetly look over her. “Didn’t have any dead fuckers following you, did you?” He glances towards the exit, continues without so much as introducing himself. “Look, here’s the deal: you don’t mess with me, I don’t mess with you. I don’t like hurting women and I think there’s enough of us dyin’ already. Sound good?”

Hands bunch up the hem of his shirt, twist it to squeeze out some water. “Better make yourself comfortable, it doesn’t look like this is gonna be lettin’ up any time soon.” Hazel eyes briefly meet hers before looking deeper into the store. “Might just do some shopping myself.”

It was the smell of coffee that stirred her, followed by the waft of bacon and the shuffling of cooking utensils. Her nose wrinkled, eye bleary as she opened them and sought out the clock on her nightstand. Seven am, an ungodly time for a Saturday morning, but she dragged herself up anyway, stretching and giving the tiniest of groans. Negan was at the door before she even managed to fully swing her legs out, the mug in his hand explaining the ever strengthening smell of caffeine. She smiled when the words escaped him, humming as she stood to greet her husband properly. “Mm, is that what that burnin’ smell is? I thought maybe you’d lit the garage on fire again.” The tone was light as she stood up on her tiptoes, placing a kiss on Negan’s lips and accepting the cup o’ joe. “Mornin’, sugar.”

Negan tried to do these sort of things for her from time to time; little gestures of love and gratitude as appreciation for putting up with him and taking such good care of him. She was a damn good wife, a fucking angel, the least he could do was be a halfway decent husband, though she deserved the best. Beyond the best.

“Nah, just scorched half the fucking kitchen this time. Might need a new stove.” There was a smile as he leaned in to accept her kiss. Seven AM really was too early to be awake on a Saturday; he was in still in his pajamas. “Mornin’ baby. Hope you’re hungry, because there is an orgasmic plate of fried eggs and bacon comin’ your way.” Arranged in the shape of a smiley face, as she’d soon find out. “Or... shit. Was gonna do the whole breakfast-in-bed thing but you’re technically already out of bed, so---” Why’d he bring the coffee first? He could’ve just put it all on the tray... oh well. “Why don’t you get yourself all nice and fucking cozy wherever you wanna be cozy at, and I’ll serve you this damn fine breakfast I got waitin’ for you.”

Miscellaneous angst starters | Not Accepting | @safetydoesntexist​

“Fucking could have, but I didn’t. And thanks to me, none of you did either.” It’s not said with a cocky smirk or an air of arrogance, but plain and matter-of-factly. Using the orders and directions he gave, everyone from their camp was able to evacuate the overrun hotel, not a single one lost to the undead. And for Negan, this is the first— the first time he didn’t lose his group, travel companions, whatever you want to call them, to the dead ones since the outbreak began. This is the first time they’ve survived a walker attack.

It’s also the first time he’s ever given orders, taken the lead, and has been doing so since. He thinks the two may be related. For now the group’s settled themselves into a small house at the edge of town. It’s not safe to stay long term, but they can rest here for the night as long as they keep a few on watch.

Arms crossed, Negan leans against the doorframe and looks over her a moment before making a face. “What’s it matter? Don’t tell me you’re getting worried about me already.” Alright, now he’s smiling, a tiny hint of teasing in his voice. He hasn’t known her long, hasn’t known any of them very long, but hell, it’s already been longer than he knew any of the other sad fucks he watched get killed. “Reminds me… what was that you were sayin’ at the hotel? You know I didn’t say anything at the time but if I didn’t fucking know any better, I’d say you were fucking flirting with me back there.” He cocks a brow. “That Dwight guy not quite doing it for you?”

“The hell else am I supposed to do, Lu?” Words snapped, frustrated, but his eyes looked at her with what could almost be defeat, wanting answers. “Admit that I’m not okay, get wrapped up in how not fucking okay anything is, so I can go on and get myself killed like every other sorry shit we’ve come across? Because that’s what happens when people allow themselves to not be okay out here. They lose their shit and fucking die.”

They were a couple months into the end of the world and while they had each other, they hadn’t had much luck keeping anyone else. It seemed like every person, every group they came across— none of them had what it took to survive, to stay alive for more than a few days. And the more death they witnessed, the more frustrated he got and yet… the less he seemed to care. Watching bodies be torn apart and eaten by rotting corpses didn’t horrify him as much as it once did, and the part of him still clinging onto their life from before was terrified by that.

There was only one thing he really cared about now.

“— Fine. I’m not okay. Everything’s a motherfucking mess, if you haven’t noticed. We have nothing, wandering through fuck knows where every day not knowing when our next meal’s gonna come by or where we’re gonna fucking sleep. The world’s gone Lucille, everything’s fucking gone and I just want to find some damn place that’ll keep you safe for longer than a night or two.” Negan’s grip tightened around the plain wooden bat on his shoulder. Sure they made it this far, but he failed to save any of the other lives they found, no matter how hard he tried. Even if he ultimately blamed them for being too weak, he hadn’t been able to make a difference. What if the day came where he wouldn’t be able to save her either? “I’m worried I won’t be able to protect you, all right? No, I’m not okay, but I’m okay enough as long as I still have you.”

“It’s…” Negan had the right, bloodstained side of his T-shirt pulled up, revealing a long, jagged gash at his ribs where barbed wire had previously slashed and embedded itself into his side. “All right, maybe it’s a little fucking more than a scratch.” What had started as a heated argument between him and that other shit stain of a man from the group that joined them that night, quickly and unpredictably escalated to levels Negan never thought he’d reach.

He murdered him. Violently bashed the guy’s brains in in front of the whole camp.

“Fucker got me good, didn’t he?” There was a subtle trembling to his hands, a slight unease in his voice as he continued to hold the fabric of his shirt in place. Things had calmed down since the incident but there was a noticeable tension in the air, an uncertainty. Even as he and Lucille tucked themselves away around the corner to check his wounds he could still feel it; not just from the camp but from her, from himself. One troubling half of him had already accepted it, declared it necessary, all of it: the death, the speech, the threats, the way he essentially told them all that he was in charge now. The other half still couldn’t believe what the fuck he just did, and was a little shaken up by the whole thing.

He eyed the bat leaning against the building for a moment before looking back down to his injury, then back to her.

“It’ll be fine. Don’t got shit to treat it with anyway. Hey, maybe I’ll get nice badass scar from this, huh? Those things are always sexy.” Negan tried to laugh, playfully waggle his eyebrows, anything— but didn’t manage much more than a halfhearted grin. He let go of his shirt, letting it fall and conceal the wound again.

“Shit…” He briefly glanced at the groups huddled around their campfires — or were they just one group now? “Lu, what do I do now? Where the fuck do we go from here?” 

But even as he asked the question, he felt something in him already knew the answer.

4. Have you made any outright changes to the canon material in order to write your muse the way you wanted (entire scenes you chose to omit, chapters you say never existed, things you assume were never said, etc.)?

Hmn, yes and no. While I generally follow show canon my portrayal has always taken influence from the comics too, so he’s not 100% one or the other. I started RPing Negan mid-season 8 so I used the comics to fill in anything that hadn’t happened on the show yet. And as the show progressed I’d generally switch over to show canon while keeping what I liked from the comics because honestly, there’s a lot of things the comics do better but also some things that are better on the show. So if I don’t like how something goes on the show, I won’t just change it to whatever I want but I might use the comic’s version of that event/conversation/etc. instead, if that makes sense. I try to stay within some variation of canon, I’m not a big fan of just changing a character to fit my own wants unless it’s real minor stuff. For example I hate the harem, but I’m not going to be like “my Negan never had a harem” just because I don’t like it, but I will however say I generally follow the comic’s version of the harem instead because it’s slightly less scummy and makes more sense in my opinion. 

Same with how he runs the Sanctuary and treats other communities. The way show!Negan is more extreme and sadistic and unnecessarily wastes resources doesn’t make much sense for him beyond the writers just wanting to make him more Evil™️, so I follow comic canon for a lot of that. I could give you a whole list of changes that comes with that, but we’d be here all day lol. Some of the things I take from the comics can be found on my about page, but it’s not an exhaustive list.

5. What is an aspect of your muse’s canon material or canon existence that you never had the opportunity to explore but really want to?

Probably his early days of the outbreak before forming the Saviors. I’ve gotten to do a few ask memes in that verse but that’s about it. There’s also his earlier years in the cell... I feel like Negan being suicidal and self-destructive is a Really Big Deal that was used as a plot device for all of five minutes before being glossed over thanks to the huge time jump. Like, that’s not something you heal from overnight you know? Exploring that time and those feelings and even his recovery from that would be great, but I also realize it can be some pretty heavy stuff.
