“–I get that.” his voice is… oddly accepting, yet there’s a shortness to his response. It’s clipped, as though James doesn’t want to talk about the truth. The truth is what had gotten him here; or more accurately, his denial of it. The understanding of that truth, while bringing some comfort, had left him in more of a tail spin than he’d like to admit.

Admitting to the ugly truths, the rotten cores, deep within one’s conscious, was never easy. It was never simple, just as Maria said.

Still, that pissed him off. Some small sliver of himself, some annoying god damn part of himself, still felt shame at how he truly was.

I felt like I was drowning. I was drowning and Mary was taking me with her, and James selfishly didn't want to die. He escaped by killing her and now he's living with the remorse from that. There's no right, there's no wrong. It's only tragic.
