I think the reason people are so obsessed with “consequences” for Macaque and whatnot

Is that the show+fandom are VERY harsh on Wukong and constantly beat on him for the unintentional harm he causes + tries to make up for

So when Macaque hurts people on PURPOSE for fun and gets treated with kid gloves by fans+narrative+writers

It kinda grinds down his fans, who want that Wukong vitriol to be also Macaque vitriol

yeah that���s fair. While some of animosity towards Wukong is justify (immediate example I can think of is when Wukong kept the secret that Mei was actually technically one of the rings of Samadhi from the others) and Wukong is quite far from being a perfect angel, I do think the way the fandom and the show at times unjustly vilify Wukong and make him seem like this awful mentor for MK is unjustified.

and I think that is something that could have strengthened Macaque’s ‘redemption arc’, that despite his help during the fight against LBD and his old friends, he does need to continue to do better in order to gain the trust of others (also again would’ve been really nice to see characters like MK, Mei, and even Tang be at least kinda bitter towards Macaque).

my point is more having the narrative beat Macaque over the head with how he was such a terrible person he was in the same way the fandom and show do to Wukong still does not equate to a good redemption arc, for either of them, it just more feels like the audience/writers expecting them to give an apology tour if…that makes sense. /gen

Not a stupid question, baby, I can answer this right now. Allow me to briefly recall these principles so I can proceed with my explanation:

Consciousness is the one and only reality.

 I AM (your consciousness) is the magical lost word which was made flesh in the likeness of that which you are conscious of being.

Your consciousness is determined by the concept you hold of self.

When you change your conception of yourself you will automatically change the world in which you live.

An assumption, though false and denied by the senses at the moment, if persisted in, will harden into fact.

Consciousness refers to everything you are aware of and know as a fact. Anything that you are conscious of being (your conception of self) is what crystallizes the world around you because it is nothing more and nothing less than yourself pushed out.

With that in mind, if being is what causes change in consciousness, then that must mean that there is nothing or no one to change but (your conception of) self.

How do changes in self (consciousness) happen? Through the assumptions you accept to be true. When you sustain an assumption via the medium of feeling (yourself to be), it then becomes a fact, and what are facts? Consciousness.

Let's say in the present moment you are conscious of being unloved [I AM unloved] and you would like to be loved [I AM loved], you would declare yourself in the present moment to be that and feel it to be true even if the world currently shows you otherwise. If you bask in the feeling of being loved long enough, you will soon accept it to be a fact, meaning you will become conscious of being loved and that's what the world will reflect back to you.

So, to recap and to answer how self concept and assumptions play into consciousness:

When you manifest, you change consciousness. This transpires by first changing your conception of self which you do by becoming conscious of being (that which you desire to be) through the assumptions you clothe with feeling. assumption + feeling = facts you become conscious of -> (change in) self -> consciousness follows

Honestly as one of those people saying Macaque needs to see the consequences I don't really want an apology tour either. I want those two see properly see consequences of their actions and for the show to stop sweeping Macaque's actions under the rug whilst simultaneously villifying Wukong for small things that honestly aren't wven his fualt half the time. Sure, keeping the fact Mei was one of the rings sucked, but he probably had a reason. We don't know the context of why he kept it secret, only that he did. And sure, Macaque has gone a long way and changed a lot between fighting LBD, Helping Wukong in the Scroll, the fight with Azure, and now everything happening in s5, but it doesn't change the fact that he has yet to apologize to either Wukong or MK for any of his actions during his villain arc, whereas we've seen Wukong doing so multiple times!

I just want both monkies held accountable equally not some crazy hate train for one or the other, but I often lean harsher towards Macaque's actions mainly because his actions tend to be on the harsher side of things with little to no remorse shown on the part of Macaque

I think we do have the context to why Wukong kept the fact that Mei was one of the rings secret. I think. It’s not explicitly said but when Mei gets the Samadhi Fire he says something like how his original plan was somehow quote “get the fire out of her” and when MK rightfully calls out how that’s a horrible plan Wukong admits that he didn’t exactly think ahead. So while not explicitly said there’s a few reasons I can see as to why he didn’t say anything, either a. he felt that since LBD was back there wasnt exactly time to think through the consequences of getting the Samadhi Fire (especially since LBD had the staff), and/or b. He felt if he did tell the others the truth they’d object to it and try to find something else with time they did not have.

but that all is besides the point lol

it’s true that macaque hasn’t apologized for anything he’s done, and honestly? He really should, out of everyone he’s hurt; I think MK, Mei, Tang, and Wukong most definitely deserve an apology. That being said: have any of LMK’s redeemed apologized for what they did? Like this isn’t some gotcha, this is a genuine question. Because now that I think about I don’t think Red Son, the Bull Family, or any of LMK’s other redeemed villains have really actually apologized for what they did. Or well…just Red Son does lol. His family doesn’t seem to feel fhat guilty over it lol.

and I think at least seeing Macaque feel guilt for what he did would definitely help. And considering how it seems season 6 may potentially focus more on Macaque I do hope they don’t just sweep everything under the rug. They managed to kinda explain what happened to the samadhi fire in season 5, I’m sure they can make macaque feel guilty for what he did in season 6 lol.

anyways, I’m sorry for answering this so late, probably should’ve gotten to this sooner but I have the attention span of a fish and usually don’t get to asks until like a few months after I first got it (glances at my box full of about 20 unanswered asks). instead , heres a recipe for a quick pizza dough when you have nothing but ingredients in your house !

a cup of warmish water and a teaspoon or so of honey to a packet of dry yeast , stirred and then forgotten about for awhile . add around two tablespoons of olive oil ( vegetable oil if you dont have it ) , a pinch of salt, and enough flour to bring it together as a dough but stay somewhat tacky . rest covered with a tea towel for another while , knead with oiled hands , repeat , then roll out to use for pizza , flatbread , garlic knots , etc

if you let the dough sit in the fridge overnight , stretch n fold in the morning , rest in a pan then dimple with garlic and rosemary , it makes a decent focaccia too
