In the big one, is a simple but pretty, and very large storage trunk, and in the first smaller is....a matching over the shoulder satchel? In the second is a soft Eevee onesie. "They're connected with magic! Anything you put in the bag, will go into the chest, and you can pull out anything in the chest out through the bag! But the bag will never feel too heavy!"

    Noel is surprised when Luz suddenly dumps three packages in his lap, followed by a birthday wish. He blinks a few times, confused as he places his hands over the large gift and starts unwrapping them. It would be rude to refuse a gift, after all.

    The trunk and the satchel are going to be extremely useful in the future; especially for things such as collecting ingredients for potions and whatever world saving shenanigans he gets up to with his girlfriend. The onesie isn’t nearly as practical, but it’s very cute and soft. Noel smiles, running a hand along the fabric. “Thank you, Cuddles.”

    “I’m just...wondering why you got me these things. Is there a holiday I’m not aware of? Did I miss an anniversary or something?” Oh boy, if it’s the second one, he’s going to have to hustle to get Luz some nice gifts!

She wants to kill him. She wants to bite, to claw to scratch at Belos for what he said. That’s not right, that’s not fair. Parents and guardians shouldn’t lash out at their children for voicing their hopes and dreams. Or push them aside like unwanted toys the second they decided they were annoyed or bored of them.

Noel was a good, kind, amazing person, and he was such a talented healer! She knew he had the drive to see to making his dreams come true. He could be whatever he wanted!!

If only someone wouldn’t stop crashing him down every time he took a step up the stairs.

She just stood there for a moment, after leaving Noel come comfort food. Before storming off, and coming back about an hour later. Carrying a blanket, fresh and toasty from the drier and washed with lavender soaps. She climbed out the window, and sat near him.

Wordlessly opening her arms with the blanket in them, intent to cocoon him in a warm, toasty hug.

She couldn’t fight Belos, but she could be here for her boyfriend.

    Noel is thankful for the privacy, while he’s getting more and more used to opening up to people who care about him, there are still times were he prefers to process his emotions by himself. It’s what he’s used to, one habit out of many that he’s working on breaking. Especially with this whole...thing being extra upsetting.

    Doesn’t feel like being vulnerable and crying in front of anyone today.

    The hour passes slowly and Noel calms down with it; going from muffled sobs to silent tears to sniffles as he cries his anger and sadness out. It feels good, a relief, catharsis. Doesn’t make everything better or chase away the hurt in his heart...but it helps. His face is roughly wiped on his gloves and said gloves removed, reaching for a cookie---

    Then he’s wrapped in a blanket that smells like lavender and is very warm, chasing away the chill that settled in from being on a roof during autumn, and turns his head to see Luz. His girlfriend gets a weak smile, Noel adjusting the blanket so they can both be under it and snuggling together.

    The teenager hands her the first cookie he picked up, and gets another for himself.

    Noel squeaks loudly when he’s grabbed and then dipped; staring up at Luz with wide eyes and dark blush across his cheeks and ears. This only gets worse when she kisses his cheek.

    “Shhhhhhhh...” Luz is shushed half-heartedly, a smile on his lips as he’s teased. “You are, you’re Luz ‘Cuddles’ Noceda but sometimes I like hugs as well.” Noel gently squeezes her to prove his point and lifts his head up upon her offering to paint his nails.

    “Hmmmm...I dunno. I’m always doing stuff with my hands, so it probably won’t last long, plus I wear gloves most of the time.” As an effort to try and avoid anymore dumbassery and not add to the collection of scars there. It does look pretty though.

    He hadn’t meant to vanish on Luz and the others. An attempt to confront his twin and try to help get Goldie out spiraled so very, very badly out of control. The chaos that was left in the wake of the explosive incident took up all his time, all his energy; Noel couldn’t even think of anything else besides what he had to do from minute to minute. It’s been long, exhausting, disheartening. New responsibilities piled upon skinny shoulders, his uncle lost to the curse, and very few interactions with his twin.

    He’s reminded of life beyond the castle walls when guards report the Owl Lady and others trying to launch an attack on said castle and asking for confirmation to go arrest happy and bring them all in. Noel’s aware that he didn’t win himself any favor or respect at denying this request and ordering for them to be allowed in...but does it really matter? Most of them aren’t going to respect him anyways---but he doesn’t see the Titan speaking to anyone else, so they can just---

    Noel is absolutely happy to see Luz the most. The young Emperor has to take a moment to slide off the throne ( given his short height ), and walks to meet the human while carrying a staff far too big for him and the heart in the throne room beating faster in time with his; elation and anxiety mixing together. Is she mad? Does she hate him now? He really didn’t mean for all of this to happen...

    “Luz...Cuddles...” He reaches out, metal gloves covering his hands now instead of the worn leather, and gently moving a stray piece of hair away from her eyes; his own a startling blue instead of warm magenta. “I’m...I’m so sorry. I never meant to make you worried. I was going to contact you, please believe me. Everything just happened so fast.”

Taking Noel's hand in her's, pressing a kiss to the back of it. She came baring gifts of fresh pumpkin spiced tea and a muffin for him.

    Is he blushing now? Absolutely; Luz can be very smooth when she wants to. He also can’t hide the blush from where she kisses the back of his gloved hand; white silk instead of brown leather tonight. Dressing up has proven to be a very fun experience, and he’s loving seeing all his friends in their costumes as well. Luz...she looks really, really handsome in hers.

    “Hi, Luz, you look great.” Noel clears his throat, hoping his voice didn’t crack too much. He’s ready for puberty to end, thank you very much! The gifts are taken and he leans in to kiss her cheek. “You look great, really really spooky and gallant at the same time.”

And Noel was the first person she wanted to show, so here she was, gently knocking on his window of the castle. Practically ready to burst with excited energy as Azul flapped happy circles around her.

    “Look at you! You look...wow, amazing! You did it!” It’s the middle of the night, but who cares?! It’s not like Noel was sleeping anyways. Just reading a book and resigning himself to yet another night of no sleep.

    Warm arms wrap around Luz and bring her close, sitting her down on the couch next to Noel. He looks concerned at hearing that, and removes his gloves before urging her to lay her head down in his lap so he can stroke her hair.

    “I feel the same way too...a lot. But...y’know...a really pretty girl has told me that doing things like that isn’t good. I’m inclined to believe her...so I hope she can believe herself as well.”

    “Sounds like a profitable enterprise; let’s hold a bake sale to raise awareness.” Is he being silly and teasing her? Absolutely! It’s all meant in good fun though.

    Noel is still laughing, quite proud of himself for managing to sneak up on Luz and yeet her. She’s surprisingly good at telling when he’s near for some reason, maybe his shampoo plus her heightened senses from the Owlet? In any case, she was distracted enough for his sneak attack to have worked and spends a moment gloating and basking in his victory.

    They do say pride comes before the fall.

    “Wait! No no no no---!” Too late, Noel’s been snatched around his waist by the vine and dragged into the pile of leaves with a shriek and a thump. He surfaces after a moment, a pinecone dangling from his bang and trying to latch on with its leech-like mouth. He’s laughing again and sticking his tongue out at Luz.

    “No fair! Absolutely no fair! You cheated, Luz!”

    Though they had made the offer to one another when it comes to nightmares, this is the first time that Noel has taken Luz up on her offer. He’s no stranger to bad dreams, and can shake the off most of the time...but the one about not being able to remove the Golden Guard mask and being called by his twin’s name...that one always gets him. It’s a reoccurring one as well, at least twice a month, so that’s fun!

    Not.

    “You sure you don’t mind, Cuddles?” Noel is already crawling into the nest with her though. This is much more comfy than the couch and warmer as well.

    He actually feels safer here, with someone laying beside him under the covers. Probably left over from where he and Goldie would share the same room, even the same bed sometimes if one of them had a nightmare. There’s also just something so nice about the nest; being surrounded on all sides and not having to worry about rolling off and hitting the floor.

    Noel smiles a little and pulls the blankets up higher.

    Noel had gone out onto the roof of the Owl House, just seeking a quiet place where he could be alone for a while. It’s hard to admit just how badly Belos’ words affected him---being compared to Goldie is nothing new ( though it still stings ) but to have his stutter called out and called repulsive?

    It hurt a lot more than he thought it ever would.

    A sniffle comes from the teen, wiping reddened eyes on his arm when he hears the sound of the window near him being opened. Expecting someone to come though, instead it’s just Luz’s hands with some cookies and tea. He’s not all that hungry at the moment...but the tea is appreciated.

    Noel takes the cup and holds it in his hands, letting the warmth seep through his gloves.
