59. Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated (Season 2)

Yeah this was a fun little series to go through. It got a little hammy near the end, even though it was trying to take itself seriously, but it was still quite enjoyable. Velma shines a lot more in this season since she's not tied to Shaggy for half of it, and gets some fun interactions with Hot Dog Water. She even replaces Daphne for a few episodes and it's great. She should've stuck around longer though >:( Also they should've kissed. Overall this show is a fun romp and has a really consistent quality throughout.

It seems like any regular summer day in Evermore. The weather is a bit cooler than usual, but it's bright and sunny, and there's a breeze in the air... and something else you can't quite pinpoint. A heaviness? Tied to an unexplainable anxiety you felt last week. You go about your day as normal, doing the best you can to ignore it, noticing the town seems rather quiet as well. All of the normally bustling places seeming a little too empty, some closed, like half the citizens decided not to come out today. It's strange, and the more time that passes, the eerier it all feels. The missing reports start rolling in one by one. The guy that owns the comic book store — Fred something? He never showed up to open the doors. Kira Watanabe-Finster is nowhere to be seen. Velma Dinkley's fiancé is in shambles at the police station, saying she won't answer her phone and she didn't leave a note. Name by name, word begins to spread, despite the effort to keep the news hush-hush. The mayor comes out to make a public service announcement with shaking hands; everyone knows he has no answers. All he can do is ask that everyone stay calm as officials try to locate all of those plastered on the missing posters now pinned up, loved ones that seemed to vanish into thin air... in a town no one has been able to leave for as long as anyone remembers.

This is not a mandatory event, but it is likely that everyone will be aware of the missing people and the mystery of it all, even if not directly affected, so please keep that in mind when interacting with others. If you do wish for NPCs in relation to your muses to be among the missing characters, please send us the name(s). Missing NPCs do not have to be approved, but we would like to keep track. If you would like one of your own characters to be involved and have not yet sent a message, it's not too late! Do keep in mind we are only allowing a maximum of three absent muses per mun depending on how many you play, and you will not be able start new threads for them for an indefinite amount of time. AS SOON AS DAPHNE STEPPED A PURPLE PLEATHER GOGO BOOT in the town of Elias, she knew who the first person she had to see was. It had been a long time without much communication, the last year to be blamed on Daphne’s hesitation in joining the rest of them in recreating the gang. Most of her was practically vibrating with excitement to see the young genius, but a small part of her was worried she still harbored hurt feelings over the way the friendship ended in high school, something that was entirely understandable. Did Velma even know her parents absolutely forbade her from seeing her or Shaggy, threatening they’d find out if she tried? Still, the ghost hunter had regrets for not at least trying, but that was back when she was vying to please her parents in whatever way possible, dying for a compliment that didn’t end in a comparison to one of her sisters. She tried to dismiss any thoughts along those lines, lest it ruin her excitement of the reunion. Once her decision about moving to Elias was made, Velma was the first to know, almost just like those middle schools days when when she was the first to be told of Daphne’s secret crush through giggles. She had found a little cafe once she reached town and sent out a text to Velma, inviting her to meet her there, before ordering herself an americano. When she did arrive, Daphne jumped up to throw her arms around the other girl before she could even react. “I’ve missed you so much!”

“jinkies! it appears we’re standing under some viscum album,” velma observed, gazing above them. “er-- mistletoe,” she explained, her cheeks turning pink as her gaze returned to her very best friend, daphne blake. velma pushed her glasses up her nose, glancing away shyly. it seemed lately that she couldn’t help but get a little nervous whenever they were this close to each other, velma always rambling on endlessly to fill any sort of awkward silence that may result between them. “did you know that mistletoe is poisonous? in fact, ingesting it can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.” nice going, velma. definitely the sort of thing you want to hear to get you in the mood. velma grimaced at her own awkwardness, sinking a little into her turtleneck sweater, wishing for a moment that the floor would open up and swallow her whole.

Fred had known Velma Dinkley since she was exactly five years old. He remembered the day as if it was yesterday - or at least, he remembered the bare bones of it. He didn’t need to recall the specific details, that’s what he hung out with Velma for! Sure they hadn’t exactly made the most typical of friends throughout high school, but she was loyal, and now they didn’t have any jocks or whatever Velma was (was nerd offensive?) commenting on it. It was perfect! Honestly, Fred wasn’t sure what he would do or who he would be if he didn’t have Velma. She was basically ninety percent of his impulse control, and was necessary in cases to explain the motives and intricacies of a case once Fred caught him. Basically, he was the cop and she was the lawyer, prosecutor, detective and journalist all in one!

“So, I might have a bit of a situation,” Fred said to Velma when she walked into the living room of Mystery Incorporated’s HQ, already wincing internally at what he was about to say. “You know the way I was working on that new touch and snap netting technique? I asked you to look at the sensitivity settings because it was just way too sensitive? Well, I might not have completely listened to you.” Really, this situation was better explained with a visual, and so Fred took Velma by the arms gently, leading her to the window. “There’s a cow in my net,” he said, rubbing at his forehead, “and I have absolutely no idea how to get him down, or where he even came from.” Upon closer inspection, Fred felt like even more of an idiot. “She. Where she came from.”
