@helvehte liked for a starter (still accepting).
perhaps it was the fact that she was a public servant, the need to help and assistant and do the right thing had been instilled in her even since before her days at quantico for training. perhaps it was just the face of a young woman looking a little unsure, that compelled her to approach. "excuse me?" she asked, softening her own expression from one that could, on occasion, be quite harsh. "are you okay? you look like you might be lost, do you need some help?"

shelby's lips pressed together in a line as she listened to the profiler. she made a good argument, said the right words that she needed to hear, but there was still a moment of pause. "i'm saying that there are people in this room who are, and i'm trying to work out exactly who's on side." it was far more complicated than she ever would have anticipated. at the start of this all, she too had believed that alex was at the heart of it all. now, she believed her quantico roommate. she believed she was innocent, and she had to do everything in her power to make sure they brought the right person to justice.
"innocent until proving guilty. similarities are a coincidence until we have concrete proof she's played a part in this. i believe in her innocence, and i need to make sure that the people working on this aren't painting her as guilty before we have any evidence. this isn't a case of doubting your work. someone at the fbi is at fault here, and they're pinning it on alex."
" are you saying i’m biased? " alyssa asked, blue-green hues staring at the other like daggers. she’d read over the case multiple times, done her best to stay objective. it didn’t matter to her that the prime suspect was in the fbi. she looked at evidence, victimology, m.o. she didn’t care about what others had discovered. no, this profile in her hands was purely her own. " this isn’t a profile of alex parrish, you know. this is my profile based on what i know. if she happens to fit that, it’s coincidence. i’m not looking for a theory revolving around agent parrish. "
" i’m just trying to do my job. and it’s a mess right now. i want to figure this out too. "

"oh –– oh!" shelby had been there a few times when she was younger, distracted by something and finding herself a little way from her friends and feeling a little lost. granted, atlanta was slightly different. "well that's okay, that's not a big deal." friendly expression fixed on her face as she took comfort in the fact that she clearly wasn't in any sort of distress despite having lost her companion. "what way did they go, do you know? i don't mind helping reunite the two of you, it's better than leaving here lost or stranded by yourself. what do they look like?" she asked, head turning to look up and down the street to see if she could spot anyone that looked like they might be looking for a friend.
Her gaze sliced into the woman. Evidently, Greta shouldn’t have left without waiting for Kristian to return. However, the world would soon be reduced to ashes in either case, and the woman's lovely face would be mangled beneath the rubble, just like all the exposed would. Her fingers tightened around a solitary bead on her bracelet, forcing it so deeply beneath her skin that it created a dent.
"No," she finally says, raising her gaze to meet the woman's with a radiant smile. “I mean, yes, ma’am. She laughs and shrugs her shoulders while flashing the cutest smile she can muster. "I am fine, I just walked a bit too far down the road and— now I can’t find my friend anymore.”

units coming together like this, it wasn't something that shelby had had to deal with often. a handful of times, at best, and none of them had ever gone particularly swimmingly. "because you forget that your number one suspect happens to be ––" one of us. the bau were working on a profile despite alex parrish already being named publicly as the culprit. everything felt tainted. and as much as shelby looked at the evidence, she wanted to believe that the woman she'd shared a dorm with at quantico wasn't capable of such things. "what about theories that don't point to alex?"
"Forgive me, I like to have an open mind, but I have a hard time accepting your theory." from shelby because fbi crossover????? why not
" what’s wrong with my theory? " she’d gone through the victimology, the crime scenes, the m.o. she’d studied this case inside and out, stayed up for the past few days figuring out a geographic profile and how things could be pieced together. " do you have a better one? " she’s… not accustomed to other units assisting. @mastermicd was a stranger to her, and it can be difficult for her to listen—
