ＨＥＡＤＣＡＮＯＮ ━━━ her mother was absolutely emotionally and occasionally physically abusive, but those facts seem far from Laura's own comprehension. It's not something she thinks back on, or it was normalised in her own mind. The idea of a perfect high-classed daughter was a must in their family, and as the only child, and only daughter, there was no stepping out of line. Don't bring embarrassment to the family, don't speak only seen, beauty was a must, anything less then lady like was heavily punished. Laura spent most her childhood locked away in her room. If she went out, it was by her mother's side. These restrictions kicked in when she launched at a boy who stole her doll. Her mother slapped sense into her, and kept her inside the house for months so she wouldn't embarrass the family further. Laura tried to run away once (1) but didn't make it passed the gates. She spent a lot of time staring out her window. Her parents let men twice her age confess the ideas of marriage, and were proud of that fact. Two occasions sparked fight in her that completely reshaped the person she was, from a doll to a fierce knight. The first was the incident with her doll toy she hated, she still fought for because it was hers, and the thought of that being taken from her sparked something deadly inside. The second, was the brief moment she saw Survey Corp soldiers inside the inner walls, and heard of the bad reputation from her mother and other locals. Both only brief moments, but it's all she needed to cling to, to completely unleash the person locked within.

The voice echoes a question she'd once asked herself countless times, but the sound is horrid, disgusting, when spoken through his mouth, piercing her ears like chalk screeching on a board. A flash of emotion, and she's back kneeling by her sister's dying side, hands covered in her blood as she cries desperately, begging, screaming, to any god to save her; met with nothing but her sister's smile that slowly sunk hollow, the light draining from her eyes, body, spirit ... then, silence.

Who saved them? Nothing. Absolutely no one. It brings a joyless smile to her lips. It makes her want to laugh. She wonders what's more agonising; that fact, or that the demon pretends he wants a serious answer to that question? He has no right, after all, to dare say anything. A bitter pill to swallow, yet she does it with a fine grace. Her shoulders loosen, eyes open with a flutter so reminiscent of the flapping of a butterflies wings, and out from the shadows which covered her gaze.

❝ What a pointless question. ❞ Die. The crack in her smile comes in the form of a twitch. From the second her dearest sister died in her arms, Shinobu was beyond the point of saving. in keiko’s main verse she attends college after acing her entrance exams and starts her studies to become a teacher , but with the supernatural and yusuke's involvement with both worlds , she finds further use of her academic skills , and starts a tutoring job all her own for demons crossing between worlds , teaching them all they need to know about the human world to give them a fresher start.   her new life consists of studying, tutoring , learning about the demon world and studying more up at genkai’s temple , helping her family’s restaurant, and finding some time for a social life (& dating life, as set romance with yusuke is highly dependent on threads and as default will not be included)

She was usually more stoic about it, but he'd known her long enough to know her tells. “Hey, why don't you let me get your pegasus taken care of? I'm already taking care of Ginny.” His mare whinnied softly when she heard her name. “I don't mind. while it may be true how tiring their battle had been, how exhaustion was quick to take a tight grip on them both, letting herself fall victim to such shortcomings was simply not allowed. but he knows her well. he'd have to with how much time they'd spent together. childhood friends, at the best and worst of times. she must look bad if he was offering something like that.
