Metroidvanias aren't really games for me(i'm too bad at them to enjoy lol) but I watched Dodger play through Nine Sols and I gotta say, what a gorgeous game. Excellent writing and characters, some of the coolest art I've seen in a game of late with real banger tunes. I don't usually care for excessive gore in games either but it was balanced really well with the more cutesy parts. Realising the heavy underlying connection to the myth of Hou Yi at the end was also really fucking cool.
