No resistance is offered when she pulls him toward her. He goes easily with the lead she gives, his eyes closing over before the kisses even begin. Silent, Shiro breathes, hyper-aware of each press of lips against his skin, of every soft ‘I love you’ that follows. His hand – his real hand, not the disgusting fake – moves, searches until it finds hers, the one not wrapped over the back of his neck, and grabs on. The hold is intended to be gentle, but it ends up being far more solid and heavy.
‘ You shouldn’t, ’ he wants to say. ‘ I don’t deserve it, and you deserve someone better. ’
Tongue bitten to keep the words from being spoken, he swallows them down stiffly, a small crease entering his brow. He means what he wants to say, but he knows that she won’t listen to it. She hasn’t even since he opened up to her about some of the things he’s seen, some of the things he’s done, and she’s only insisted the opposite of what he knows. A conversation would go in circles if he were to say anything, it would be pointless. ...And the selfish part of him doesn’t want her to leave him, to stop loving him.
The hand gripping at hers gives a small squeeze, and Shiro chews at the inside of his lip. He wants to protect Honey, wants her to go back to living a normal life, one where she doesn’t have to deal with a boyfriend traumatized after a year long imprisonment by aliens because that’s... That’s not fair to her. It’s not at all what she signed up for. And yet... that selfish part of him doesn’t want to have to let her go because without her, he doesn’t know what he’d do.
For now, his selfishness wins out. He tells himself that it’s only because he doesn’t want to get into the circular disagreement, but it’s... because he needs her right now.
