How LAUGHABLE. Doflamingo was more than aware of Caesarâs capabilities of betrayal. He knew the other would switch sides if it served him better â SURVIVAL demanded it, and Caesar, while precious to Doflamingo, wasnât DEVOTED like his Family was. He wouldnât offer his LIFE for him. He was serving him because he offered things no one else could, and while the Heavenly Demon trusted him in the laboratory, he didnât actually TRUST Caesar. It was in the nature of all living things to find some being GREATER than themselves and place their trust in that being, following it blindly. At the top of that trust were GODS, which was why Caesarâs trust in Doflamingo was expected. It was INSTINCTUAL. However, Caesar wasnât a devotee. He was a scientist, one who dared QUESTION the nature of things. If there ever were a moment in which he concluded siding with SOMEONE ELSE was more beneficial, he would do it. It was a type of betrayal he didnât need to worry about as he could foresee it, unlike the one from his own flesh and blood. â Do you see me as someone unprepared? â He was usually ten steps ahead with his plans, making sure they couldnât be easily ruined. Naturally, there werenât many scientists who could REPLACE Caesar. There was Vegapunk, who could possibly do an even better job with SMILES, and Vinsmoke Judge. Vegapunkâs disappearance would alarm the World Government ( assuming heâd work for Doflamingo ), and the Vinsmoke would surely LACK the imagination to see all the possibilities of artificial Devil fruits. Mere circumstances made Caesar PERFECT for the role, not that heâd tell him that. Scientists had fickle egos. â Nothing will happen to you. â He wouldnât LET anything happen to him. Heâd have way too many problems if it did.
â Now Iâm wondering, what prompted this line of questioning? â Monet hadnât reported anything unusual recently, nor had she noticed changes in the scientist. Were these genuine worries or was he trying to make a specific point? â Iâd rather you speak of your desires, Caesar, I canât read minds. â Yet. / @autotoxinsâ

â Of course I have no intentions of ever betraying you. â Caesar stated, calmly, though his large eyes were fixed upon the other. He had thought a lot about this conversation. â But Iâm wondering - do you have insurance? What if something happens to me? Do you have someone else who can produce SAD for you? â He knew, of course, that the answer was NO. There was nobody else in the world who COULD do it. What Caesar really wanted to know was how much Doflamingo relied upon him. Knowing his own importance would give him a guideline as to how much he could use the warlord. He was happy in his current state, yes. He had a private lab and all the test-subjects he could possibly want. But - he wished to be able to do more research, not just work on developing the SAD formula. If he was vital to Doflamingo, then surely, the other would be very accommodating, wouldnât he?Â
