"Yeah, the longer they can't kick everyone out of the apartment building and finish their construction work, the more pissed and desperate they're gonna get." Meant the more dangerous they were gonna get. Beck wandered over to the fridge to grab himself a drink, digging around until he found a soda. Caffeine was probably a bad idea, but what the hell? His sleep for tonight was already going to be fucked. Wasn't the first time, wouldn't be the last time he crept away in the middle of the night for Cowboy business. Beck could operate on very little sleep when he needed to.

"Brand doesn't have to mean friends. Some people only wanna talk business," Beck shrugged, cracking up his soda and taking a sip. He wasn't real good at being vulnerable, at talking about the deepest parts of himself. His grief and his deep desire for family, whatever that looked like, were always screaming beneath the surface, harder to contain sometimes than others.

"Before Lia left, I was considering actually coming clean with her, y'know? Seeing if we could actually make things work, if we could face all this together. But she ain't even here any more. Can't help but wonder if I missed my shot, or if I dodged a bullet." Beck lightly kicked his toe against the ground, shifting a small rock around under his boot. "Keep telling myself she did the right thing. 'Cause no matter what, I woulda put you guys and the brand first." He exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Caid said Luke wouldn't have wanted this for me. And he's right. I know he is. All I ever wanted was to make him proud, to protect the things he cared about. But I'll never be him. Never be as good as he was."

“Help yourself, I don’t get all up in arms about people rifling through the fridge,” Tim said with a wave. The shop fridge hissed its agreement. Chances were he had some sort of soda nestled back there — likely not expired either.

He was halfway towards the backdoor when the wind carried Beck’s statement. Tim thought about that for a moment, then tilted his head either which way. “Probably better that way. All of those things happening over at Oceanview and Obsidian Holdings probably losing money like a stuck pig.”

Tim whistled at that. Chances were Obsidian would see a few of their donors pull away. Who wanted to donate hard-earned money to a lost cause? He didn’t get to ask that question as Beck asked if they were friends.

Tim felt his brows knit together at that. “You got that brand don’t you? That means we can talk about ‘friend stuff,’” Tim made air quotes at that. “There’s a lot we all can’t talk about unless it’s among each other, so…”

🍄Parasect Girl🍄 Because nobody makes them like @billfrancois makes them~!! Slowpoke Girl and Co. is such a lovely series, the comedy is perfect and the character designs are really cute and elegant. Parasect girl is my favorite, as a fan of the Parasline. Also she's a menace to society (read; fanfiction writer/ enabler), which is always alot of plusses in my book. It has been such a long time since I made fanart for other artists. Hopefully this can become a trend again this year while juggling the other projects ^^;;
