[Aftermath of M!A Wrath of the Fallen]

Nearly a week has passed since the catastrophe in Pride Ring. Much of the physical wounds have healed, the few lingering abrasions from the holy chains that bound Lucid and God’s Flame that will likely leave a scar above part of his lip. But of the physical damage, the trauma from his halo forcibly shattered and then magically mended left the worst. These days it glowed so much dimmer and gave a low pitched hum, like when air pressure shifts in one’s ear. To many, it seems like the seraph is close to falling all over again and this time not by outside forces.

Maybe he is…

Lucid did not return to his work after being released, the impact of it all mentally and emotionally wounding him beyond capabilities to do so. He does not use his powers, even for minute things. Wings now healed remain closed against his back, the wind beneath them gone to take flight. In place of the wrath that flamed his hues orange and sclera black were once more sky blue, but with a distant, haunted gaze.

In his room Lucid hides away, the lights notably dim and lack of a clear night sky upon the ceiling. Seated in the alcove, the blue seraph has his knees drawn to his chest and hugged as he stares through veiled curtains at the world outside. Half-lidded, puffy eyes give away the tears he’s been shedding, but now it is emotionless and dull. The light and shine of Lucid’s joy appears to have gone out…

It’s not hard to pick out a Sinner. What, with Hell’s overpopulation and a literal whole ring where they are forced to remain? This was not going to be a hunt. It may as well be shooting fish in a barrel.

Seraphim eyes scan rapidly every which way, all at once, selecting his prey. Lucid’s gaze falls upon a fish like Sinner with webbed feet, tentacles for hair and sweeping shark tail. The seraphim transforms rapidly into his feather white and blue dragon form. Remaining about the size of a large dog, the ravenous angel trails behind. Haunches bunch as he prepares to leap upon the unsuspecting prey-

What started as a tickle in Lucid’s throat has deepened to a hollow cough. While angels don’t typically get sick, it’s not to say that certain outside irritants can’t bring them under the weather for short periods of time. Try as he might to ignore it, hold it in, avoid thinking of it, the seraph ends up in a worse coughing fit than the last.
