The "Air Mattress"
Word Count: 1793 Pairing: Sebastian x F!Reader Warnings: 18+, smut, mentions of smoking, unprotected sex, swearing, vaginal sex (should be all, lmk if I missed any!)  (Art by @.mkun on steamcommunity)
The package outside of the farm surprised Sebastian, what could you have possibly ordered this time? Never the less, he plucked it off the steps of the porch and knocked on the door. He was over to hangout for a bit, so he might as well carry the thing in. The door swung open and he smiled a little, your face brightening when you saw the package in his hands. "Oh! It's here! Awesome! Thanks," you quickly took the package from his hand and set it on the table.
"So, what is it?" Sebastian asked, leaning on the table a bit and looking at the package.
"I got a new air mattress online, well, an air couch - I think it said? I don't know, it randomly popped up. I barely looked at it."
"You just, randomly bought an air mattress?"
"Yeah! I've been having friends over more and I know it can be an annoying walk back to down in the dark, so I thought this would help," you smiled, looking back up at Sebastian and he couldn't help but smile back. Always thinking of others. So excited.
Well, it was just an air mattress. Nothing interesting, so the hangout presumed and the package remained forgotten on the table without a second thought.

Sebastian knocked on the door, sucker hanging out of his mouth a little. He'd been- 'trying' to quit. As in, he'd lessened the amount he smoked but he still smoked whenever he wanted. The sucker was just a distraction for him if he wasn't sure he actually wanted to smoke. He could hear the sound of something being inflated and he wondered for a moment, forgetting when you opened the door slowly. "Bad time?" he asked, frowning slightly at your facial expression.
"No, no...uh, it's fine..." you opened the door more, and he could see off to the side was - no. No it couldn't be. A fucking inflatable sex bed?
"Uhm, that new?" he joked, facing flushing a little, the sucker almost fully falling out of his mouth. You looked at it, frowning more as you stared at the inflatable bed before you.
"I- uh, looked back at the purchase when I opened the package...and..."
"It's a sex bed?" he offered, smirking slightly, he walked up to it. You had actually put the damn thing together. Handles, handcuffs hooked on it. You'd actually put it completely together. "Why didn't you just...leave it?"
"Well - there isn't a refund for it so I thought if I put it together I could maybe figure out how to make it seem less..." you sighed, rubbing your forehead a little. "Less..."
Sebastian snorted, "less like a sex bed?" he asked, as he looked at it, "well, the handcuffs clipped to it don't help at all," he added with a mock tone of helpfulness. Then, he began to smirk even more.
He popped the sucker out of his mouth, walking up to the bed on the floor and crouching down, "so...like...it's for couples to try out positions on, and all that?" he voiced, glancing back at you. You looked absolutely mortified at the fact he was standing near it and that only made Sebastian smile more.
"I guess..."
Standing back up he walked to the kitchen, trashing his sucker, he unzipped his jacket and rested it on the back of one of the kitchen chairs. He gently leaned against the chair, studying you. "Well if you can't get a refund on it, I suppose we might as well test the thing out. See if it's worth the money. What'd you spend on the thing anyway?"
He couldn't help but laugh a little at the way your eyes widened in slight shock at his comment, "uh...$70ish maybe?" you mumbled, eyes quickly looking away from Sebastian. He could feel himself nearly chuckle, but he kept it in. "Test it out?" you finally added slowly, looking up at him.
"Yeah, you know, test the thing out? Might as well, what else can you do with it?" he asked easily, slowly walking back over towards the inflated bed. "Let's see how it goes."
Your head bobbed pathetically in agreement and Sebastian smiled slightly, lips connecting with yours. He easily leaned you against the mattress, making sure you were comfortable the entire time. Sure you'd had feelings for Sebastian that had sat with you since you'd originally moved into Pelican Town, and sure you'd wanted to be with him for a while - this wasn't exactly the way you'd anticipated it happening though - not that you were complaining.
He propped his knees on the bed, keeping you laid back, his lips trailed to your jaw, moving towards your neck.. Soft teeth biting at your sensitive skin, you felt a pathetic whine escape your lips. "Sebastian~" you could feel the smirk against your skin causing shivers to run down you.
"God, you are so reactive, hm?" his hands moved from beside your body, quickly running down your skin, he tugged at the hem of your shirt but stopped before trying to take it off. Instead his lips trailed to your collarbone, nipping softly there. His tongue lapped at the skin, swirling over the spots he'd bitten and you knew he was leaving hickeys on you - hickeys that your summer clothes wouldn't conceal. Your hands ran up to his hair, raking your fingers through it. Once you reached the middle, your fingers gripped, tugging slightly. He let out a soft groan. "Fuck...alright, impatient," his lips reconnected with yours upon your tug.
You let his hands wander up your shirt, cupping your breasts through your bra, slowly his thumb rolled over your nipple as it hardened under his touch. Your hips pathetically rolled underneath him, trying to gain any friction. Any satisfaction you could get. Bucking your hips up to try and meet his hips. With a smirk against your lips, Sebastian shoved his hips against you, the clothing between you two left you feeling unsatisfied even as he humped you through the clothing. "M-more?" you practically whined out, fingers pulling on his dyed locks.  He pulled back with a grin.
"Needy, hm?" he quickly ripped off your shirt, "s'okay, I find it hot," he added, lips reconnecting with your collarbone, hands running to your back, finding the bra clasp and quickly fumbling to undo it. As expert as he was with words and attitude, this was the moment you realized he might be a little inexperienced. He struggled, a soft cuss escaping him before he gave up. Instead he tugged it over your head, throwing it aside. He propped your back against the mattress, slowly spreading your legs. "Mind handcuffs?" he asked, but he was already cuffing you. You shook your head, letting him cuff you to to bed.
"Don't mind-" you murmured before his lips reconnected with yours. His tongue slowly graced along your bottom lip, before his teeth bit at it, you quickly opened your mouth and he slipped his tongue into your mouth and eagerly explored it. After a few moments, he pulled back, panting, he propped himself back, examining you laying on the bed. Hands handcuffed to the sides. Shirtless. His eyes flickered down to your jeans and then back up to your eyes.
Hesitantly, he moved to unzip your jeans, unbuttoning slowly. "You alright with this?" he whispered slowly. You nodded eagerly.
"More than," he smiled at that answer, slowly unzipping the jeans. He easily took them off, throwing them aside. Leaving you in just panties. He studied you like this, eyes raking over your body eagerly. His hand gently rubbed you through the panties, lips kissing yours. Moans escaped your lips, and as your lips parted his tongue slipped back into your mouth. When he decided he made you eager enough - a pathetic wet spot soaking through your panties, he finally took those off.
He didn't say anything for a moment, making you feel vulnerable. Your body instinctively moved to close your legs, but Sebastian caught them, slowly spreading them. He smiled softly. "I've wanted to do this for so long, don't hide from me," he whispered, placing a tender kiss on your forehead. "Been thinking about this since I saw this bed."
Sebastian undid his own jeans, and through his boxers you saw his erection sticking up.  Once those were off you finally saw him. Eyes widening a little, he smirked slightly. "Nervous? That's okay, it's my first time too," he placed another kiss on your forehead, hands moving to grip the bed above your head. Slowly, he moved to shove himself in. Just the tip first, you bit your lip pathetically as whines erupted from you. He stopped, waiting for you to take the tip without complaint - once you seemed calm he began pushing more. It took a few minutes, and the occasional reassurance, before he was fully in. "I'm gonna thrust now, okay?" you nodded weakly as he slowly pulled back, then pushed himself back in. Your hands pathetically moved to try and grip him, but the handcuffs kept them in place. "S'okay, baby, next time I'll take those off and you can rake those nails down my back, how does that sound?"
"So...so good~" you whimpered back, moaning as he pulled out and slowly pushed back in. For a while he let you adjust to this steady pace, not increasing until you seemed comfortable and then picking it up. He became a little eager, gripping the bed and tossing his head back as he thrusted into you. The slapping sound filled the room as you slowly bucked your hips up to meet him. Soft groans escaped him, and he bit his lip a little as he thrusted, lost in the feeling.
Your walls tightly clenched around him, and Sebastian let out a pathetic whine of pleasure, his hands gripping the bed. Moaning out his pace picked up, hearing the slapping sound of skin and the intertwined moans made you get even closer. "Cum...cum on my dick, please...fuck," Sebastian encouraged, grunting as he tried his best to give you as much satisfaction as possible. You felt the heat in your stomach, the tightening knot, and then your mind fell blank. Saying his name like a mantra, Sebastian groaned out, head thrown back as you came all over his dick, quickly he pulled out, spilling his seed onto your stomach.
"Please...please tell me you're keeping the mattress?" he asked, as he slowly pried himself off you.

Genre: college au; crush-at-first-sight Synopsis: Firmly convinced that Love-at-First-Sight is a hoax, you never expected to be proven wrong when the universe decided to throw you, quite literally, into Lee Jeno's lap. Pairing: NCT Lee Jeno x Reader Warnings: slow burn—I know, classic Cali work. Notes: Can I interest you with another two-part fic that's also a slow burn? No? Alright. Here's the first 14.7k words! Song prompt was Risk by Gracie Abrams <3 (btw i did not proofread this)
[Part 2]
Tumblr media
You first met Jeno Lee on a particularly cool autumn afternoon. The kind of day where the wind carried a crispness that hinted at the coming winter, and the leaves crunched underfoot in vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold. The public library—where you spent most of the school break had always been quiet, but today, it was more silent than usual, the heavy wooden doors muffling the outside world’s chill.
You found yourself in the farthest corner of the library, where the oldest books resided, their spines faded and worn from years of eager hands. You stepped onto a ladder, reaching for a book that had been buried on the highest shelf, just out of reach. The book wasn’t anything special, except for the pretty spine and an interesting title that piqued your curiosity.
Your fingertips brushed the spine, but as you tried to pull it free, it resisted. Frowning, you gave it a stronger tug, unaware that on the other side of the shelf, someone else had their fingers wrapped around the very same book.
Thinking it was simply stuck in the array, you tried again, exerting all of your strength on one last tug. The book suddenly gave way, sending you off balance. Your heart leaped into your throat as you toppled backward, the ladder slipping beneath your feet. You had just enough time to gasp before you felt yourself falling, bracing for the cold, hard floor to meet you.
But instead of hitting the ground, you landed in something warm and solid. Strong arms caught you, holding you securely as you blinked up in surprise, your breath coming in short.
And that’s when you saw him.
It felt like the world had shifted into a dreamy haze—one of those cinematic moments when time slows down as the female lead and her love interest lock eyes for the first time. The world seemed to blur around you, blocking out everything and everyone, and sweet background music was playing in your head.
His eyes were the first thing you noticed—deep and warm, dark brown in color, flecked with gold that seemed to catch the light in just the right way. His dark hair fell in soft waves across his forehead, slightly tousled, as if he’d just run his fingers through it. His jawline was sharp, but softened by the slight smile that curved his lips as he looked down at you.
He was effortlessly handsome, in the kind of way that made your heart skip a beat and your stomach flip all at once.
“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice warm and soothing, with a hint of genuine concern.
“Huh?” you questioned, your own voice sounding like a switch that abruptly snapped you back to reality. The dreamy haze dissipated, and you were left with the stark, embarrassing reality of the moment. You realized you were still cradled in his arms, your hands resting against his chest. Your face flushed as you scrambled to get down, muttering apologies.
“Woah, careful,” he said as he gently set you back on your feet, his hands lingering on your arms for just a second longer than necessary.
“I’m sorry about that,” you managed to stammer, your voice barely above a whisper. “The uh… the book! It was stuck.”
“Yeah, you almost got hurt there,” he smiled, a slow, genuine smile that made your heart flutter.
You glanced down at the book he was holding—the one you’d been reaching for, and then back up at him, a blush creeping into your cheeks. “Thanks. For catching me. And for this.”
He chuckled softly, and the sound was like music, smooth and easy. “No problem. I just happened to pass by.”
“Well, lucky me,” you replied, chuckling bashfully. For a moment, you both stood there, the library around you fading into the background. There was something in his gaze, a spark of recognition that made you feel like you knew each other, even though this was the first time you’d met.
Is this the part where you tell him your name? Maybe not? Shouldn’t he be asking for yours?
“Right. See you around then,” he said while you were busy thinking to yourself. Before you could gather your wits to say anything back, he gave you an acknowledging nod and walked away.
You stood there, dumbfounded, watching him go. It wasn’t until he disappeared around the corner that you realized you should have asked for his name. Your heart was racing, and you were feeling a mix of gratitude and something else, something that made your cheeks warm and your thoughts scatter.
You kept wondering who he was, where he was from, and if he lived in town. His image haunted your thoughts, making it hard to focus on anything else. At night, you lay in bed, replaying the scene, his warm eyes and gentle smile etched into your memory.
Who was he? And why did your heart feel like it was doing somersaults? Clearly, you should know by now what that means: you have a huge, massive, gigantic crush on this guy. And you don’t even know his name yet!
Funnily enough, you never saw him again after that. In the remaining days of your break, you frequented the library, asked your friends about him, and even went on night outs hoping he’d show up. But you had no luck. Was it really possible not to see each other again after that day? Maybe he didn’t live there. Your town was small, the kind of place where everyone knows everybody. There was no way you wouldn’t have known if someone like that lived nearby. Maybe he was just passing through.
That was probably it. As you traveled back to the city for the start of the semester, you knew you would never see him again. It might be easier to think he didn’t exist at all. It was a little frustrating, but you decided to let it go.
Yet it seemed like the universe wasn’t ready for you to let it all go.
On one particularly cold and rainy afternoon, you stood outside a diner in the city, frantically waving your hand at a taxi cab. Your umbrella might have been keeping your head dry, but the strong gusts of wind blew tiny drops of rain all over your jeans and boots. After several occupied taxis passed by, seeing one finally pull over in front of you almost made you cry with joy.
“Apartment X on 46th Street, please,” you told the driver as soon as you slid inside, barely managing to close the door behind you. You sighed in relief, your heart slowing down as the warm air of the cab wrapped around you.
But just as you were about to settle in, the door was suddenly yanked open. Startled, you glanced back, and your breath caught in your throat.
A man peeked his head into the cab, his messy hair plastered to his forehead, drenched from the rain. But despite his soaked appearance, that smile was unmistakable—a smile you easily recognized even after all this time. The rain pounded against the cab roof, but all you could hear was the sound of your own heartbeat, echoing in your ears.
Jeno’s smile widened as he took in your surprised expression. “Sorry to barge in like this, but it’s pouring out here. Mind if I share the cab with you?”
“Sure,” you said softly, audible enough for him to slide into the seat next to you. You caught a whiff of his perfume—fresh, woodsy, intoxicating. Instinct made you scoot over slightly, trying to make room without seeming too eager.
The cab started moving, and silence filled the space between you. You could feel your pulse quicken as you stole glances at him, but he seemed oblivious, focused instead on his phone. He looked just as handsome as you remembered—maybe even more so—though it had only been a few months since you last saw him. Somehow, it felt like you were seeing him for the first time. And there was something in his demeanor that sent a sinking feeling to your stomach.
He didn’t remember you.
You were sure of it now. The way he had smiled, the casual politeness in his tone, all pointed to a simple truth—you were just another stranger sharing a cab on a rainy day.
You knew you should say something—anything. Start some small talk, maybe a simple “hi.” Would that be weird? It shouldn’t be, right? You’re sharing a space, after all, and a small one at that. You could remind him of the time he caught you in his arms like you were in a rom-com flick or something.
Making friends had always been easy for you, but with him, every conversation starter seemed silly or wrong, and the fear of making a bad impression held you back. What if he thought you were odd for remembering? What if he didn’t care?
Then again, how could you possibly form a deeper connection with him if you wouldn’t even talk to him? Was he really so attractive to leave you dumbfounded each time? You took a peek to confirm and ended up meeting his gaze when you glanced at each other at the same time. You smiled meekly before quietly looking away.
The answer was simply a ‘yes’.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the taxi driver’s voice. “Where to, young man?” he asked, glancing back at Jeno.
Jeno appeared to think for a second. “Is the road to NCIT still inaccessible?”
Your ears perked up at the mention of your university. Did he go there too?
“I don’t think so,” the driver replied, shaking his head slightly. “But I’ll try to get as close as possible. Taco Bell near the intersection alright with you?”
“That would be good, thanks.”
Your mind raced with questions. Does he go to NCIT too? You could ask him about it, maybe bring up the sinkhole that had appeared on the road near campus a few days ago. But once again, your nerves got the better of you. All you could do was scroll through your phone, pretending to be engrossed in social media as you tried not to gawk at him.
The cab came to a stop sooner than you expected. You noticed Jeno shifting beside you, preparing to get out.
“Thanks a lot,” he told the driver, handing over his fare. Then, to your surprise, he turned to you with a warm smile. “Thanks to you too. Stay warm.”
And just like that, he was gone. The door clicked shut, and you were left in the backseat, feeling mild annoyance and disappointment. You stared at the space where he had just been, your thoughts swirling with frustration.
Seriously? You thought to yourself, trying to keep the frustration from bubbling over. You’d let him slip away without saying anything. Ugh, how could you be so awkward? A tiny part of you wanted to throw a little tantrum and scold yourself at the same time.
As the cab started moving again, you slumped back in the seat, watching the rain streak down the windows. It was a little bit of a letdown, but you sighed and shook your head, deciding to laugh it off. He was just a fleeting, unexpected moment in your otherwise uneventful day. A quick ray of sunshine, maybe.
In itself, it was a relief to know that he was in the same city. Hunting him down should be easy. For now, you’d just have to let this go and move on.
Tumblr media
“No, you’re not—” Sienna gestured quote marks in the air. “—‘hunting him down’, whatever that means.
“Why not?” you whined, slumping back on your bed.
Your flatmate sighed in exasperation, crossing her hands over her chest as she stared you down. “It’s weird and stalkerish. Get to know him like a normal human being.”
You had told her about Jeno, from the first encounter with him back in your hometown to the cab ride with him earlier that day. “That’s the thing. I can’t because I don’t know him at all. I don’t even have his name,” you told her.
“Yes, and you’re an idiot for that,” she chastised, sitting next to you on the bed.
You groaned, narrowing your eyes at the ceiling. “You are absolutely correct,” you said, shutting your eyes as you flail your hands in the air.
“Let it go. If he does go to NCIT, then you’ll see him again and you’ll talk to him like a proper girl,” said Sienna, tapping the space between your eyebrows.
Normally, if something like that happened to you, you would just let it go. Not that it has happened before, but if it did, you would just let it go. Not this one. You can’t. Somehow, you were convinced that you crossed paths with him for a reason.
So, against Sienna’s advice, you hunted him down. It was outside a diner where you met him again, and he got off near your university. Assuming you were around the same age, he most probably went to NCIT too.
“If he was, you would’ve met him already,” said Sienna, alluding to your congenial personality and tendency to befriend just anyone.
“That’s the thing! I do not know him, so he’s probably a new student. If he isn’t, then he’s probably from the Sci-Tech building,” you told her.
“Sci-Tech? Why Sci-Tech?”
You looked at her like the answer to her question should be obvious enough. “Because I don’t go there.”
Sienna snorted. “Your deduction skills are spot on,” she said sarcastically.
There was only one place in uni that you never frequented, the Science and Technology building. It was because you had no reason to go there. That building was for NCIT’s specialized programs, which were programs in Natural Sciences and Technology. It housed departments like Engineering and Mathematics, Biology, Computer Sciences, and the like. As a Foreign Languages student, you have everything you need and everywhere you have to be in both the Arts and Social Sciences building. There was no reason to go elsewhere. But that might change if your suspicion turns out to be right.
So as soon as Monday rolled in, you headed to the said building with one goal in mind—to see if your mystery man was there. The halls weren’t entirely unfamiliar; you’d seen them before during your freshman tour of the campus. But the faces were new, unfamiliar, and you found yourself smiling at those you recognized.
The task was simple—look around, find out if Jeno’s there, get to know him, and done. If you happened to bump into your friends from this building, you’d tell them you were looking for them. No way were you going to let anyone know you were on a “hunt” for a boy.
“Are you lost?” said a guy’s voice from behind you.
You sighed and rolled your eyes before turning to face him. Smiling, you said, “I was just looking for you, Renjun.”
Renjun cocked an eyebrow at you. “Why? What did you do?”
You clutched your chest, pretending to be offended. “Nothing? I just came to see you. Lunch is on me today.”
His face softened but he still scoffed. “Why didn’t you just text me instead of coming all the way here?”
“I had to remind you because you’re old and forgetful,” you joked, falling into step beside him as he started walking.
“I’m not old and forgetful,” he muttered, though you just giggled, clinging onto his arm.
Your eyes scanned the halls, peeking into classrooms, but there was no sign of Jeno so far. Meanwhile, Renjun was complaining about Haechan and Yangyang spreading the flu virus all weekend.
“Thank God they’re okay now,” he grumbled. “I can’t last another day babying those grownups.”
“Why don’t you kick them out?” you said absentmindedly.
Renjun hummed as if seriously considering the idea. “I would if I could pay all 1500 by myself. Even the rent is annoyingly expensive.”
“Then why not move to the on-campus dorm?” you suggested, though you knew he was just complaining for the sake of it.
“It sucks.”
Just as you rounded the corner to the stairs, you spotted Jeno in the crowd. You gasped softly, your heart doing a little flip. There he was, just as handsome as he had been last weekend. You were right, after all—he really was from this building.
You watched him from a distance, talking animatedly to a few other students in front of an open classroom. You couldn’t help but stare, your heart doing a little flip as you took in his easy smile and the way he casually leaned against the doorway like he belonged there—like he belonged everywhere. Nothing of note could be said about his good looks, except that he continued to be as handsome as he did last weekend. He laughed along with the rest of his classmates, eyes crinkling cutely.
“What are you staring at?” Renjun asked, following your gaze. “Ah, I knew you had ulterior motives for coming here. Which one is it? Hyunjin? Jeno? Soobin?”
You glanced back at Renjun, grinning from ear to ear. “Which one is Soobin?”
He scoffed. “You came all the way here and you don’t even know his name?”
“I know Hyunjin,” you said, shaking your head. You pointed at the guy in the grey hoodie. “That one. Is that Soobin?”
“That’s Jeno Lee.”
You gasped, covering your mouth in mock shock. “His name is Jeno? Oh my god! It suits him so well.”
“And? Did you come here for him?” Renjun asked, raising an eyebrow as he peered at Jeno and his group. “Should I call him over?”
“No!” you exclaimed, quickly tugging him back. “Do you two know each other?”
He nodded. “Yeah, he’s Jaemin’s friend from high school.”
At this point, your smile was probably blinding Renjun with how bright it was. But before you could pester him for more details, he slipped away with a quick wave, escaping to his classes.
Information was easy to obtain from your friends. Barely a day had passed but you have learned all the important things you needed to learn about him. He was new at the university, having enrolled here only last semester. Four months ago, he was dating this cute girl from Biology but they broke up only a month later. No one knew why, but they did break up. He used to play basketball and still does. He’s an Electronic Engineering student and is said to be very intelligent. You also found out that he currently shares an apartment with Jaemin and Mark.
That night, you lay on your bed, phone in hand, scrolling through his profile. He was active on it, posting mostly about his workouts in his Stories and getting tagged in posts by friends. He played basketball for his previous school and based on the posts and comments from his friends, he was great at it. There were pictures of him with his team, others mid-game, looking focused and determined. There were also pictures of him just hanging out with lots of different people; some faces were recurring, but it was mostly different people.
You couldn’t help but wonder if this was how all crushes felt—silly and intense all at once, like a tiny spark that refused to fizzle out.
“I wonder if he’s as nice as he seems,” you thought, your heart fluttering as you looked at a photo of him laughing with his friends. His smile was the same one that had made your heart skip a beat the first time you saw it.
You tapped on the profiles of his friends, searching for clues about Jeno’s life. It was easy to tell which ones were close to him, and which ones weren’t. You even scrolled through the profiles of girls who seemed too close to him in pictures, hoping he wasn’t dating any of them. Based on your little “research”, he is single right now with plenty of admirers commenting on his photos.
You noted every detail, hoping to find common interests. His love for basketball intrigued you, and maybe you could strike up a conversation about it if you ever got the chance. Well, that is if you even knew a thing about basketball. You weren’t a big fan of the sport, but you would be if it was Jeno playing. If he was on your school’s basketball team, you would have joined the cheer squad. You didn’t have the skill for it, but you would have tried nonetheless.
A soft sigh escaped your lips as you let your imagination run wild. You closed your eyes, allowing the faint light from your phone to fade into the darkness of your room. Images of Jeno’s smile and the sound of his voice played in your mind like a cherished memory. The idea of seeing him again made your heart swell with excitement, looking forward to the next few days.
Then, realizing how far down the rabbit hole of your crush you’d fallen, you couldn’t help but laugh at yourself. “Get it together,” you murmured, shaking your head with a grin. But even as you tried to reel yourself in, the excitement of possibly seeing him again was too much to suppress.
Tumblr media
There was no denying it now. You told your girlfriends that you had fallen in love with Jeno Lee from the Sci-Tech building.
“It was love at first sight. I just know it,” you said dreamily, twirling in front of the mirror.
Kayla raised an eyebrow. “You said love at first sight is a scam.”
“I know what I said,” you sighed, knowing she was right. You were a skeptic when it came to love at first sight. Sure, you liked romance and were a massive fan of romcoms. But love at first sight in real life? Total BS. “Obviously, I was wrong. I have to admit that now,” you added, a mixture of disbelief and excitement swirling within you. Part of you still couldn’t believe how quickly your feelings had changed.
Kayla and Sienna exchanged glances. Sienna smirked, her tone playful as she asked, “Are you sure you weren’t just blinded by his looks? That can happen to some.”
“Well… He did look handsome, but I’m sure it was more than just that.” You walked back to your dresser, sporting a reminiscent smile. “I know it sounds crazy, but there was just something about him. I can’t explain it. It’s like… like he was meant to be there.”
Kayla rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t hide her grin. “Next thing you know, you’ll be writing love letters and doodling his name in your notebook.”
You laughed, shaking your head, but a part of you couldn’t deny it. Maybe you would. “Hey, if it comes to that, don’t judge me,” you said, a teasing glint in your eyes.
“Yo! I have arrived!” came Haechan’s voice from outside your bedroom door, followed by heavy knocks. “Come on, come out now before I change my mind and leave your asses.”
You opened the door and raised an eyebrow at him, leaning on the doorframe as you sized him up. “First of all, the car isn’t yours. Second, how dare you bring your shoes in here.”
“Move. I’m not here for your ugly mug. I need my baby,” he retorted, trying to push you out of the way, but you wouldn’t budge.
“You move,” you shot back, playfully pushing his chest and sending him back a few paces.
Sienna giggled as she brushed past you. “You guys never stop fighting, do you?” she asked rhetorically, knowing full well the answer was ‘yes.’
“I hate her so much,” Haechan muttered to Sienna as she greeted him with a soft kiss on the cheek. “How are you putting up with her?”
You rolled your eyes at their PDA. “The real question is, how is she putting up with you,” you quipped, turning on your heel to fetch your stuff.
Yangyang’s SUV was parked outside, and you could make out Renjun’s figure sitting in the shotgun. As the four of you boarded the car, Yangyang glanced back at you in the backseat, a mischievous smile playing on his lips.
“Hey, I heard you’re seeing someone from Sci-Tech. Is that true?” he asked, his tone teasing.
You furrowed your brows in confusion, about to respond, when Renjun sighed exasperatedly from the front seat. “I said she went to see someone,” he corrected, his voice calm but laced with mock annoyance.
Yangyang turned to Renjun, feigning innocence. “Isn’t that the same thing?”
“No, dumbass,” Renjun shot back, rolling his eyes.
“Wow. Renjun, you’re a fucking tattletale,” you blurted, pretending to be offended but unable to keep the smile off your face.
Renjun just shrugged. “Let’s just go,” he said, his tone final but light, signaling the end of the banter as Yangyang pulled out of the driveway.
On rainy days, you often carpooled with Yangyang, who generously offered to drive you safely to school. While the sinkhole repairs were still ongoing, the city had found a detour that made it possible for cars to access the street where NCIT is.
“How much longer do you think it’s gonna take?” Renjun asked as you passed by the sinkhole.
“Hopefully not long. The traffic in this part of the city is a nightmare,” you replied, leaning forward to peer through the space between Renjun and Yangyang as you looked outside.
“Mark’s asking if we’re still going to Felize’s for lunch today,” Haechan said, his eyes glued to his phone.
“Of course, man. We haven’t eaten at Felize’s in ages,” Yangyang replied with a sigh. “I miss their quesadillas.”
“Who else is coming?” Sienna asked, peeking at her boyfriend’s phone.
“No one else. Just Mark, Jaemin, and maybe Jeno.”
Your stomach did a little flip at the mention of Jeno’s name. “You’re going to Felize’s and you never told me?” you accused, feigning indignation.
Kayla cocked an eyebrow at you. “We talked about it in the group chat last week.”
“Why didn’t I know that?”
“Because you never check your messages,” Renjun said, not missing a beat.
Haechan chimed in, “And you rarely show up to our invitations anyway.”
“I do sometimes!” you insisted.
“Rarely,” Renjun shot back, smirking.
You grinned. “Well, today is your lucky day!”
“Oh, shut up. You just want to see Jeno,” Renjun teased, his smirk widening.
“Jeno?” Haechan repeated, his eyes narrowing as he looked at you suspiciously. “Do you like Jeno?”
“Mind your own business, alright?” you shot back.
After a long day of classes, you and your friends finally made your way to Felize’s. The familiar scent of sizzling fajitas and freshly baked tortillas greeted you as you stepped inside the cozy, dimly lit restaurant. It was a favorite hangout spot, a place where you could unwind and enjoy some of the best Mexican food in town.
The group quickly spotted Mark and Jaemin already seated at a booth near the window, waving them over. You all crammed into the booth, the chatter flowing easily as menus were passed around—even though you all knew what you were going to order.
As you looked around the restaurant, your excitement started to wane. You scanned the tables, hoping to catch a glimpse of Jeno, but he was nowhere to be seen.
Jaemin noticed your expression first and grinned. “What’s with the long face? You look like you lost something.”
You tried to play it off, shrugging. “Nothing. Just thought it would be more crowded.”
Haechan chuckled. “She was expecting someone in particular.”
“Someone whose name rhymes with… Den-o?” Kayla teased, her grin widening.
You rolled your eyes, but the small smile on your face gave you away. “Okay, fine, maybe I thought Jeno would be here. But I’m not disappointed. Just… mildly inconvenienced.”
“Mildly inconvenienced,” Yangyang mocked with a playful smirk. “I can practically see the broken heart emojis floating above your head.”
“Yo! Wait, what’s going on?” Mark asked, holding up his palms. Turning to you, he asked, “Do you like Jeno?”
“No,” you denied, but you were grinning from ear-to-ear. “Who is he anyway?”
“No, seriously,” Mark pressed, eye gleaming with interest as he turned to your other friends for answers. “Seriously? Since when?”
“Not long,” you replied, hoping they'd move on. “Just very recently.”
“Recently? Alright, that makes sense. We’ve been flatmates since he got here. I was wondering why you never told us,” Mark said, nodding..
“Right? I didn’t even know there were three of you in that apartment!” you groaned.
Jaemin smiled at you. “Too bad he isn’t here. He had other things to do.”
Renjun, ever the instigator, leaned back in his seat with a knowing smile. “You know, if you really want to see him, you could just text him and ask where he is. He might appreciate the effort.”
Mark nodded in agreement, his eyes twinkling with amusement. “Yeah, or maybe we should’ve just kidnapped him and brought him here ourselves.”
Yangyang added with a grin, “Or better yet, we can all show up at his place with food and be like, ‘Hey, you missed out!’”
Haechan’s laughter was an insult to you. “Does he even know you? I heard you get tongue-tied at the mere sight of him!”
There was a chorus of disbelief from the boys at your table. Jaemin asked, still shocked, “You? Tongue-tied?”
Kayla chuckled softly. “Come on, guys. Don’t tease her like that. She’s just a bit  shy.”
“Oh god,” Yangyang exclaimed, rubbing his arms. “I got goosebumps hearing you say that.”
“Yeah, ‘shy’ and ‘you’ don’t belong in the same sentence,” added Haechan, pointing his finger at you.
You groaned, half-laughing as you covered your face with your hands. “You guys are the worst.”
“But you love us anyway,” Sienna said, patting your shoulder.
“Yeah, yeah,” you muttered, though the smile on your face gave you away. Even though Jeno wasn’t there, you couldn’t help but enjoy the moment with your friends.

With the midterms fast approaching, you momentarily forgot about Jeno, focusing instead in making notes and studying. Instead of the campus library, you opted to the city library. You liked it there. It’s quieter, with fewer students, and more books to choose from. Except this time, instead of maintaining your streak as a recognized Most Diligent Reader—third place overall last year—you buried yourself in notes and textbooks.
One particularly slow weekend, you were absorbed in your study when you thought your eyes were playing tricks on you. There, leaning against one of the towering old bookshelves, was Jeno. He held a book in one hand, and his other hand twirled a pen absentmindedly. Your heart leaped to your throat, and a wave of nerves washed over you.
You quietly observed Jeno from behind the cover of your textbook, trying to focus on your notes. But despite your best intentions, your gaze kept drifting towards him. The way he casually flipped through pages and twirled his pen seemed to make time stand still. You watched as he moved from the shelves to a table across the room, burying his head into the book. You tried to concentrate, but your efforts were in vain as your mind wandered back to him.
The next day, you were back at the city library, hoping for another glimpse of him. To your surprise, Jeno was there again, looking just as engrossed in his studies as before. You couldn’t help but think that maybe he enjoyed this library as much as you did. Although that day, he studied little and slept most of the day.
One afternoon, Sienna showed up and immediately noticed your distracted state. She took one look at you and followed your gaze, rolling her eyes when she saw Jeno.
“Seriously?” Sienna said, sitting down next to you and grabbing your notes. “You’re here to study, not to gawk at some guy.”
You blushed, trying to regain your composure. “I’m not gawking. I’m just—”
“Just talk to him,” Sienna interrupted, her tone a mix of exasperation and encouragement. “He’s right there. How hard can it be?”
You felt your cheeks grow warmer. “I can’t just walk up to him. I’m—” You hesitated, searching for the right words. “I’m shy.”
Sienna raised an eyebrow. “You? You’re never shy.”
“I know,” you admitted, feeling a bit flustered. “It’s just… different with him. I don’t know why.”
Sienna sighed dramatically. “Fine, I’ll do it for you then. But you owe me coffee.”
You shot up from your seat, grabbing her arm to stop her. “No, wait! Please don’t.”
Sienna looked at you, puzzled. “Are you sure? He seems like a really nice guy. It wouldn’t hurt to just say hi.”
You shook your head, giving her a pleading look. “I don’t want to rush things. Just let me handle it.”
Sienna studied you for a moment, then sighed and relented. “Alright, alright. I won’t push it. But you better get on with it soon, or I’m going to start making plans for you.”
You breathed a sigh of relief, and Sienna returned to her seat, shaking her head but with a smile. You knew you needed to muster the courage to talk to Jeno on your own terms, but now is not the right time yet. Of course that’s just an excuse, but you wanted to believe it.
Once more, you found yourself at the city library, where you spotted Jeno studying with Jaemin. You decided to sit at a table right behind them, carefully positioning yourself so that Jaemin’s back was to you. This way, you could observe Jeno without risking being seen by your friend.
As you settled into your seat, you pulled out your notes and pretended to study, though your attention was primarily focused on Jeno. You discreetly stole glances over the top of your book, trying to catch glimpses of his expressions and the way he animatedly explained something to Jaemin. You found yourself fixated on his lips, the way they moved and the way they’re so pink and plump.
Just as you were lost in the sight of him, Jeno’s gaze flicked in your direction, his eyes meeting yours for a brief moment. Your heart skipped a beat, and you quickly ducked behind your book, pretending to be engrossed in your notes. You could almost feel your cheeks heating up, and you cursed yourself for being so obvious. Surely, he didn’t realize you’d been staring at him, right?
You were probably wrong. He definitely saw that.
Trying to regain your composure, you forced yourself to focus on your studies, though your mind kept drifting back to that fleeting moment of eye contact. You stole another glance from behind the cover of your book, only to find that Jeno had returned to his conversation with Jaemin, seemingly unaware of your presence. You let out a quiet sigh of relief, but the excitement and nervousness of the encounter lingered, making it hard to concentrate on anything other than him.
Exams arrived, and you couldn’t help but regret not studying as diligently as you should have. You knew you wouldn’t fail any of them, but you braced yourself for some disappointing scores. That did not stop you from attending an off-campus house party though.
The party was in full swing when you arrived, and you were having a blast with your girlfriends. Amid the laughter and music, you spotted Jeno with his group of friends. Your friends, in high spirits, decided to make a bet involving a game of flip-cup. The stakes were simple: if you lose, you had to go up and talk to Jeno.
“News travel fast,” you snickered, eyeing Sienna in particular.
Sienna shrugged nonchalantly. “Wasn’t me. They found out by themselves.”
“Yeah, you weren’t as slick as you thought,” said Olive, tossing the cup towards you.
“Don’t worry, babe,” said Kayla, squeezing your shoulder gently. “No one’s ratting you out.”
As the game progressed, you tried your best to lose, but Flip Cup just so happened to be one of those games you were oddly good at. Every time you thought you were about to lose, you somehow managed to pull through.
“Oh, come on! Just let her lose already,” Kayla teased from the sidelines, clearly enjoying the spectacle.
“You’re actually scared to talk to Jeno, are you?” Sienna asked with a grin, playfully nudging you. “There’s no way you’re this good.”
“I’m not scared!” you protested, though you were starting to sweat. “I’m just… strategically holding back.”
Your friends exchanged amused glances, clearly not buying your excuse. “You know what? I don’t even need this,” you said with a dramatic flair, taking a big swig of the spiked punch in your red cup. “I’m gonna go talk to him right now.”
“Oooh,” your friends chorused.
With newfound confidence, you made your way toward Jeno’s group. He stood by the music console with a few others, talking and laughing. You clenched and unclenched your fists, trying to squeeze out the nervousness that was starting to creep back in. The closer you got, the more your heart pounded, your palms growing clammy.
It would be easier if he was alone, you thought and it was like the universe heard your plea because his friends walked away from him, rushing somewhere else while cheering. You took a deep breath, trying to muster up the courage to approach him. Just when you were almost within reach, Haechan unexpectedly passed by.
Without thinking, you grabbed his arm, veering off course. “Hi! I’ve been looking for you!” you blurted out, trying to sound casual.
Haechan blinked at you, baffled. “What? Why? What did I do?”
You forced a smile, dragging him further away from Jeno’s group. “Nothing. Just wanted to catch up with you!”
Haechan gave you a suspicious look, noting how you kept glancing over your shoulder. “What’s going on? You’re acting weird.”
When you were safely out of sight, you finally let go of Haechan and waved him off. “Go away.”
Haechan pointed at himself in mock disbelief. “Me? Go away? You’re the one who dragged me over here!”
“Well, thanks for your service. I don’t need you anymore,” you quipped, turning on your heel and heading back to your girlfriends. You were welcomed by their disappointed gazes.
“That was so anticlimactic,” Kayla remarked, shaking her head.
“Oh, shut up,” you sighed, rolling your eyes, though you couldn’t hide the rueful smile tugging at your lips.
The rest of the night passed in a blur of laughter and drinks. By the time you got home, you were drunk but wide awake, whining to your friends as you sprawled out on the living room carpet. Squinting up at the ceiling, you muttered, “I’m home.”
“Yeah, you are,” Sienna replied, nodding as she watched you.
You pointed at the lightbulb above you. “But I don’t see Jeno Lee. He should be here.”
“He probably would be if you didn’t chicken out at the last minute,” Sienna scolded, shaking her head. “And you’re not in your bedroom, dumbass. Get up!”
You groaned, closing your eyes as you smiled. “Next time... maybe.”
Sienna rolled her eyes and nudged you with her foot. “Yeah, sure. We’ll believe it when we see it.”

Days passed with you casually crossing paths with Jeno more often. It was like the universe had decided to make him appear everywhere you went. You noticed that you both arrived on campus around the same time, late in the morning at 10:30. He was often at the quad, surrounded by friends or just passing by. Each glimpse of him was like a small thrill, a bright spot in your routine school day.
The public library was a hit-or-miss; sometimes he was there, and other times he wasn’t. Still, you went there every day out of habit, mainly to read and also to see him if he happened to be there.
You got to know him in this way, piecing together bits of his life through observations and casual conversations with others. You learned about his friends, his classes, and his easygoing personality. He seemed to be well-liked by everyone, always ready with a smile or a kind word.
But there was one place you rarely saw him: the food court. It has been a while since you found out about him, and despite having mutual friends, you have yet to talk to him or share the same space. Today, you walked into the food court and scanned the place for any sign of him, only to be disappointed by his absence.
You settled on the chair next to Kayla, fixing your bag. Sliding next to you, Kayla whispered, “You look glum. Haven’t seen your crush today yet?”
You rolled your eyes at her mischievous grin. “No. And I’m not glum at all! Especially not because of that.”
Sienna snickered from her spot next to Haechan. “Yeah, you are totally glum because of that.”
Just as you were about to retort, you caught sight of Jeno walking into the cafeteria. Your heart skipped a beat as you watched him navigate through the crowd, his easy smile drawing you in. He greeted a few friends with casual high-fives and settled into a seat with a group of students—Mark, Jaemin, and Yangyang among them.
Kayla nudged you, a knowing look in her eyes. “There he is.”
“Yeah, don’t care,” you said, but the grin spreading across your face was a clear contradiction of your words.
Haechan shuddered exaggeratedly. “You’re so creepy when you smile like that.”
You shot him a glare. “And? How about making yourself useful to me for once and make it so that we can have lunch together?”
Haechan flashed a challenging smirk. “Think you can handle it?”
You scoffed, rolling your eyes as you opened your salad. “Never mind. I don’t need your help. I can manage my own love life.”
“Sure you can,” he jeered. “Isn’t that why you still haven’t talked to him after all this time?”
You were about to snap back when Sienna interjected, “Table manners, sweethearts.”
Haechan rolled his eyes, then mimed zipping his lips. “Your friend is annoying,” he muttered to Sienna.
“And your boyfriend is super annoying,” you retorted.
“Your friend is ultra—” Haechan started, but Sienna cut him off.
“Stop it,” Sienna chided sternly. He quickly complied, pretending to lock his lips. “Ugh, kids.”
In the afternoon, as you were walking through the Arts building, you spotted a familiar figure down the hallway. It was Jeno! Your stomach fluttered, and you couldn’t help but wonder what he was doing there. Curiosity got the best of you, and after some subtle investigation—okay, maybe a little eavesdropping—you discovered the reason. He had taken up Carpentry as an elective!
To make things even better, you were in that class! You had chosen it just for fun, but with Jeno there, your mind raced with possibilities as you found something new to look forward to. Did this mean you’d see him more often? What should you do? You have no idea yet, for now, you must go to class.
When saw him there, you could barely keep your eyes off him but you had to try. Though you didn’t have any chances to talk yet, you were content with just seeing him there, sharing the same space.
Later, you told Sienna and Kayla about it, your head floating in the clouds out of sheer joy. They exchanged amused looks, teasing you mercilessly about your "carpenter crush," but they understood your fascination, even if they enjoyed poking fun at you.
Carpentry was scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday. On Thursday, as you were heading to class, you found yourself walking behind him. He was talking to one of his friends, his laughter echoing in the hallway. You couldn’t help but smile, feeling a warm glow inside.
In class, you worked on your project, stealing glances at Jeno every now and then. The room smelled of clay, and the sound of tools clinking filled the air. He was focused on his own work, unaware of your silent admiration. It was enough for now, you told yourself. Just being near him was enough.
But as you worked on your project, sneaking glances at him, you knew this was just the beginning. There was a quiet contentment in being near him, but a part of you couldn’t help but hope for more—just one conversation, one chance to see if your feelings were more than just a crush.
“What are your plans for the Sports Fest?” Kayla asked, nudging your arm. “I’ll be doing Badminton Doubles with Olive.”
In the living room of your apartment, you and your friends gathered around the coffee table, eating takeout from a fast food restaurant. Everyone in your close circle was there, and you had asked them to bring Jeno but apparently, he had plans.
You waved your hand dismissively as you swallowed your food. “Hard pass. I’m still healing from that awful injury last year,” you replied, massaging your right wrist.
During last year’s sports fest, you played volleyball for your department. You remembered the sharp pain as you fell on your arm, the way your wrist twisted awkwardly beneath you. It had long since healed, but the memory of that day still lingered, leaving you with an irrational fear of getting hurt again. It was an awful experience that you would rather not relive.
“I thought you’re completely healed?” asked Mark, taking your hand to examine your wrist. “Did you break a bone? I thought it was just a sprain.”
“I’m just exaggerating,” you snickered, retracting your hand. “My wrist is healed but my heart is not. It’s called trauma.”
“Yeah, I know what it’s called,” Mark chuckled.
You eyed him curiously. “What about you? Basketball?”
Mark nodded, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Honestly, I can’t wait to kick Yangyang’s ass.”
Across the room on the leather couch, Yangyang was gobbling his burger. Unable to speak with his mouth full, he flipped a middle finger at Mark, who just laughed.
“Ah, I almost forgot!” Mark exclaimed, looking at you with widened eyes. “Jeno’s playing too!”
The mention of Jeno made your face light up. “He is?”
“Look at you all bright and excited,” Jaemin teased.
Renjun smirked, patting his hands as he finished his food. “Watch her betray her department and cheer for a different team again. Like she did last year for her ex.”
“Oh my god!” you exclaimed, covering your ears and closing your eyes. “No bad words on the dinner table.”
Sienna leaned in with a smirk. “Wanna bet she’d cheer for the Humanities Department this year?”
Kayla chimed in, “Pass. We all know she’d support Jeno no matter what.”
You rolled your eyes, but the thought lingered. “We’ll see,” you mumbled, hiding your smile behind another bite of food. “I’ll be there for all your games, though. Moral support and all.”

The three-day Sports Fest dawned on NCIT with a strong air of festivity and excitement. Banners and streamers hung around the campus, bearing the crests and colors of each department. For the first two days, you cheered and supported your friends in their respective sports, while making sure not to miss each one of Jeno’s basketball games. In between games, you enjoyed the booths that the clubs had set up on the campus grounds. There were food stalls with a variety of snacks and meal sets. There were fair games with plush toys for prizes. Your favorite was the photobooth where you and your friends took lots of pictures to commemorate the event.
The last day of the event was for championships. To showcase the camaraderie of the student body, everyone dressed in the colors of their respective departments, and the entire campus thrummed with cheers and enthusiasm for the day.
You wore a vivid blue shirt bearing the crest of the Humanities Department and throughout the day, you moved courts cheering for your friends in their respective sports. Haechan did well in his soccer game, and Kayla seemed to have secured the silver for your department. But the highlight of your day was the basketball championship.
It was a match between the Humanities Department and the Engineering Department. The covered court was booming with cheers from the students who filled up the bleachers. The school band played an upbeat tune, adding to the festive atmosphere. You and your friends went early to get the best seats to watch the game. The blue flaglets in your hand blended with everyone else on your side of the court. On the other, green long balloons were cheering for the Engineering department.
Players were warming up down at the court, stretching, and doing practice shooting before the game officially began. Mark spotted your group and waved two hands at you.
“Boo!” Yangyang jeered beside you with his thumbs down. He was salty after his Business Department lost to Engineering yesterday.
You looked for Jeno among the different faces. There he was, dressed in his uniform—white and green jersey, matching shorts, and sneakers that seemed to gleam under the bright lights. The uniform hugged his athletic build, showcasing his toned muscles and broad shoulders. He blended in with the team but the way he moved with an easy grace and confident stride made him stand out even more in your eyes.
“Close your mouth!” Jaemin teased, earning a chorus of laughter from your friends. “We don’t want Jeno to see you drooling.”
You quickly clamped your mouth shut, feeling your cheeks heat up as Sienna nudged you with a knowing smile. Still, you couldn’t take your eyes off Jeno. The way he carried himself and the way his eyes sparkled with excitement made him look even more captivating. It was as if he was glowing, radiating an aura of coolness and charisma.
As the final minutes before the game ticked away, the energy in the court grew higher. You could feel your pulse quicken in sync with the rising tension in the air. The earlier games and festivities had been thrilling, but this match was the one you’d been waiting for. You couldn’t help but wonder if Jeno had noticed you in the crowd during his previous games, or if he was too focused on the game to even glance your way. The thought made your heart race, but you pushed it aside, deciding to enjoy the view instead.
As the game started, the energy in the court surged to new heights. You were on the edge of your seat, your heart pounding in time with the rhythm of the game. The Humanities Department was strong, but your eyes were only on Jeno and his team. Every time the Engineering Department scored, you couldn’t help but leap to your feet, waving your blue flaglets as if they were green.
“Go, Engineering!” you shouted, your voice ringing out loud and clear among the crowd. You were so absorbed in cheering for Jeno that you didn’t even notice the confused looks from your own department. It was strange, even to you, seeing someone in the vivid blue of Humanities cheering so passionately for the opposing team.
It didn’t take long for Jeno to notice your enthusiastic support. During a brief pause in the game, he glanced in your direction. Your heart skipped a beat as your eyes met, and a slow, amused smile spread across his face. You could feel your cheeks flush, but you couldn’t stop yourself from smiling back, your heart soaring.
Throughout the game, you continued to cheer louder than anyone else, your voice echoing across the court. Every time Jeno glanced your way, you felt a thrill shoot through you, making you cheer even louder. At one point, he made a particularly impressive play—a quick steal and a flawless layup—that had you jumping to your feet with a wild cheer.
As he jogged back down the court, he caught your eye again and flashed you another smile, a playful glint in his eyes that sent you straight to cloud nine. It was as if the rest of the world had faded away, leaving just the two of you in a bubble of shared glances and silent connections.
“Are you even from Humanities?” Yangyang teased, nudging you with his elbow. “You might as well be wearing green.”
You just laughed, too giddy to care about the odd looks you were getting. Nothing else mattered at that moment. All you could think about was Jeno—how his every move seemed effortless, how his smiles made you feel like you were the only one in the crowd.
The game continued, but you were already winning in your own way, basking in the warmth of Jeno’s attention. Mark had been grinning mischievously at you, clearly amused by your bold display.
The game was intense, with both teams neck and neck until the final quarter. The tension in the air was palpable, every dribble and pass holding the crowd in suspense. You were on your feet almost the entire time, cheering your heart out for the Engineering team, and especially for Jeno. With every basket, your voice rose above the rest, earning even more curious and amused glances from those around you.
As the clock ticked down the final seconds, the Engineering team managed to pull ahead by just a few points. The crowd roared as Jeno’s team scored the winning basket, securing the championship title. You screamed with joy, jumping up and down, waving your flaglets wildly. It didn’t matter that you were in blue—you felt like you were part of the victory too.
After the game, as the teams shook hands and congratulated each other, you noticed Mark heading your way, with Jeno walking right beside him. Your heart skipped a beat again, and you tried to calm your racing thoughts as they approached.
Mark grinned widely as he reached you. “Hey, Jeno,” he said, turning to his friend, “I’ve got to introduce you to the loudest cheerleader you had out there today.”
You felt a blush creeping up your neck as Mark gestured toward you. Jeno’s eyes sparkled with recognition, and that familiar smile curved on his lips.
“I am honored,” Jeno said, his voice warm and teasing. “I could hear you all the way from the court. Thanks for the support, even though you’re… clearly not from Engineering.”
You laughed, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. “I couldn’t help it,” you admitted, grinning up at him. “You guys were just too good.”
Jeno chuckled, running a hand through his hair. “We appreciate it. You should consider switching departments,” he added playfully.
You shook your head, still smiling. “I’m pretty attached to Humanities. I’ll always root for you though.”
“Good to know,” Jeno said, his eyes meeting yours with a softness that made your heart flutter all over again.
Mark smirked, clearly pleased with himself for setting up this interaction. “You guys are coming to the party tonight, right?”
You shrugged, glancing at your friends behind you. “We wouldn’t miss it!” you replied, trying to keep your voice steady.
“Great,” Jeno said, his smile widening. “Let’s celebrate, then.”
As the crowd began to disperse and the festivities moved off the court, you couldn’t believe your luck. As you walked out of the court, surrounded by friends and buzzing with excitement, you couldn’t help but feel like something wonderful had begun.
“The ship is finally sailing!” Kayla chimed as you exited the campus together with Sienna.
“About damn time!” Sienna exclaimed and the three of you squealed in excitement.

Tonight, you will talk to Jeno Lee. You had finally made up your mind about it. It should be so hard now, considering he now knows of your existence and you two had already been introduced.
You arrived at the provided address with Kayla, wrapped in thick coats due to the cold weather. The house was a sprawling two-story with a large backyard, and it was already rowdy. Music blared from the speakers set up on the patio, and the air was filled with the sounds of laughter and chatter.
Inside, the party was in full swing and you had to lose your coats due to the hotter atmosphere. The living room was packed with students, some lounging on plush sofas while others danced to the beat of the music. Red solo cups and plates of snacks were scattered everywhere, and the whole house was filled with the aroma of pizza and chips. Green LED lights and the Engineering department’s green banners added a nice touch.
You were there to have fun, that’s a given. But you were mainly there to see Jeno, you wouldn’t deny that fact. It wasn’t hard to find him. He was standing near the snack table, talking and laughing with a group of friends. He seemed to be in high spirits, smiling and looking handsome under the warm glow of the lights.
He moved across the room, catching your eye, and for a moment, you froze, wondering if he noticed you. When he settled on a single couch and pulled out his phone, you took this as your cue to approach him.
“Okay. Calm down,” you told yourself, steadying your breathing. “You’re just gonna say hi. Tell him he did great at the game or something.”
With your heart pounding, you started walking towards him, rehearsing your words in your mind. Just as you were about five steps away, you noticed a girl walk up to Jeno. She had a confident stride and a friendly smile. Your steps faltered, and you hesitated, watching as they exchanged a few words. And then, in a moment that felt like it was stretching on forever, they kissed.
It was a brief but unmistakable kiss, a tender connection that spoke volumes. His hand around her waist was firm, and the smile he gave her should have been sweet, but it was painful for you to look at.
Your heart sank, and the world around you seemed to blur. The warmth of the party, the music, and the lively chatter all faded into a distant hum. A cold, empty feeling settled in your chest, making it hard to breathe. It felt as though someone had pressed pause on your world, leaving you standing on the edge of a scene you could no longer be a part of.
You turned away quickly, embarrassed and worried someone might notice you gawking. You took a deep breath, lifted your chin, and walked the opposite way, pretending you hadn’t seen anything. But the image was seared into your mind, refusing to fade.
You forced a smile at some students who recognized you, but your heart was aching so badly that you felt like crying. The excitement of the evening had dimmed, replaced by a feeling of quiet sadness. Still, you forced yourself to stay, determined not to let the moment ruin the night entirely. You were supposed to have fun here, after all, however difficult that might be now.
“Hey, you okay?” Kayla suddenly appeared by your side, his eyes searching your face.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” you lied, forcing another smile. “Just needed some air.”
Kayla didn’t seem convinced, but she didn’t push it. Instead, she looped her arm through yours. “Let’s find something to drink.”
You nodded, grateful for the distraction. The two of you made your way to the kitchen, where a group of students were mixing drinks and chatting loudly. You grabbed a soda and pretended to listen to the conversations around you, though your mind kept drifting back to what you had just witnessed.
After a few minutes, Kayla nudged you. “There’s Sienna and Haechan! Let’s go say hi.”
You followed her gaze and spotted the couple near the back door, laughing with a group of students. She greeted you both with a big hug, immediately noticing your mood.
“What’s up?” Sienna asked, her brow furrowed in concern.
You shrugged, trying to downplay it. “Just tired.”
Sienna eyed you for a moment before nodding. “Well, this party better wake you up! Come on, let’s dance.”
You allowed yourself to be dragged to the makeshift dance floor, where the music was louder, and the energy was infectious. You danced along with Kayla and Sienna, trying to lose yourself in the rhythm. For a moment, it worked. You laughed and moved to the beat, letting the music drown out your thoughts.
But it wasn’t long before your mind wandered back to Jeno. You caught glimpses of him across the room, and each time, the image of him with that girl played on repeat in your head. It hurt more than you wanted to admit.
As the night wore on, you found yourself sitting on the living room couch, watching people play, talk, and drink.  Your mind floated to space, consumed by thoughts of Jeno. Everything had gone so wrong so fast. Suddenly, this whole crush thing felt ridiculous and stupid. How classic of you to jump into something without carefully measuring the fall.
Just as you were about to drown in your thoughts, Mark appeared from the crowd, smiling as he skipped over to you and plopped down on the couch beside you. “There you are! Having fun?”
“Hey,” you said weakly, trying to muster some enthusiasm. But Mark’s scowl told you that you weren’t fooling him.
“Apparently not. Is everything okay?” Mark asked, concern etched across his face.
You hesitated, then let out a bitter laugh. “Yeah. Just… tired,” you replied, chuckling softly as you leaned your head on his shoulder. “I should probably just go home.”
“Why? Shouldn’t you be talking to Jeno right now?”
“Ugh, forget it. I don’t like him anymore.”
Mark winced. “What happened? Did you find an ick that made you cringe?”
You exhaled sharply, glaring at him. “Go away if you’re just gonna talk about Jeno all night.”
“Alright, fine. I won’t,” he chuckled heartily, raising his hands in surrender. Then, he offered you his bottle of beer with a grin.
Without hesitating, you grabbed it and chugged the contents in one go. The cold liquid burned down your throat, and you burped a little too loudly, causing Mark to burst out laughing. You were annoyed at first, but his laughter was contagious, and soon enough, you found yourself laughing along with him. The heavy weight on your chest lifted even only for a moment, replaced by a warmth that spread through you, making everything a little more bearable.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t difficult at all to push Jeno out of your mind: you just had to focus on other things. Mornings began with the shrill ring of the alarm, followed by a hasty breakfast and the walk to school. Classes became a sanctuary of focus. The workload was manageable, and you found a rhythm in balancing your assignments with extracurricular activities. You continued to be the congenial girl that you are, making friends here and there while keeping up with old ones.
Carpentry class, however, was a different story. Jeno sat just a few tables away, his presence a constant, aching reminder.  You occasionally caught glimpses of him, but your gazes never lingered anymore, concentrating instead on your projects.
Lunchtimes were spent mostly with Kayla and Sienna—Haechan too since he couldn’t seem to stand being away from his girlfriend. You shared stories and laughter over cafeteria food that ranged from surprisingly decent to downright questionable. You talk about your classes, your adjustments, and, occasionally, the lingering shadow of your crush. They couldn’t believe their ears when you said you didn’t like him anymore. When you refused to tell them why, they didn’t press for an answer.
Afternoons were reserved for your favorite spot in the public library. It was your quiet retreat, and if Jeno happened to be there, you hardly noticed. Your focus was on your reading and studies, pushing aside any lingering thoughts of him.
Evenings are quieter. You come home, tired but content, and reflect on the day’s events. You sit at your desk, do your homework, and occasionally glance at social media, where Jeno’s updates serve as a bittersweet reminder of a failed romance—not that it even began in the first place.
Fate had other plans though. Like a prank just to rain on your parade, you were paired with Jeno for a Carpentry project.
If this had happened before you discovered he was taken, you would have been over the moon with excitement, thrilled by the prospect of working closely with him. But now, all you could feel was apprehension and awkwardness.
“Looks like we’re partners,” he said, his heart-melting smile making it impossible to ignore the flutter in your chest.
“Yeah, looks like it,” you replied, striving for nonchalance despite the storm of emotions brewing inside you.
As you both settled at a table, the world seemed to shrink to just the two of you and the project before you. You mentally scolded yourself, determined not to fall back into the crazy crush you’d put behind you.
“So, where do we start?” you asked, pulling out your notebook and your pen case out of your bag.
Before responding, Jeno tilted his head slightly, studying you with a curious expression. “You don’t remember me, do you?”
Nervousness engulfed you. “What do you mean?” you asked, trying to keep your voice steady.
“The taxi cab a few months back,” he said, a smile tugging at his lips. “It was pouring and I barged into your cab.”
You laughed shyly. “Of course. I remember.”
He nodded, leaning back slightly. “What about before that?”
“Before?” you asked stupidly, racking your brain.
“The library. You fell, and I—”
“Ah!” you exclaimed, suddenly recalling the day you first met him. You laughed softly, shaking your head. “How could I forget?”
Jeno chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. “So, you remembered? Why didn’t you say anything?”
You scoffed. “Why didn’t you?”
He shrugged. “I thought you might not recognize me.”
Oh god, Jeno, if you only knew, you thought, suppressing a smile. “Well, now we know,” you said in feigned indifference. There was a moment of silence, a comfortable one, where the two of you simply looked at each other, a newfound connection sparking between you.
“So,” you said, breaking the silence with a smile. You pressed a thumb on the sheet handed to you by Mr. Harris. “Shall we get started?”
“Sure,” he replied, his smile widening.
This could be it—the beginning of something new, a chance to turn a long-held crush into a real connection. And you would have been ready for it if not for the fact that he had a girlfriend. So you pushed your feelings aside and resolved to not step out of the line.
What started as an academic collaboration soon turned into something more comfortable and natural. You got to know each other in the few days you spent working together so far. Your task was to create a fully functional reclining chair, and from the outset, it was clear that this was going to be a challenging project. The first day, you both laid out the design, Jeno’s enthusiasm was infectious and it was clear that he was enjoying this class, unlike you who only signed up for fun.
“I think we should go with a sleek, modern look,” he suggested, his eyes bright with excitement. You nodded in agreement, appreciating his vision and passion for the project.
Jeno was surprisingly meticulous with his measurements and cuts, his focus sharp and his explanations clear. You found his dedication impressive and his passion for the craft endearing. He showed you how to properly measure and cut the wood. His patience and willingness to teach made the learning process enjoyable.
One afternoon, as you worked on sanding the wooden pieces, Jeno shared a story about his childhood, describing how his father used to involve him in small woodworking projects around the house. His eyes lit up with nostalgia, and you could see the joy in his voice as he spoke. It was a side of him you hadn’t seen before, and it made you appreciate him even more.
In return, you told him about your own experiences, your hobbies, and the challenges you faced when balancing school and extracurriculars. Jeno listened intently, his smile genuine and his responses thoughtful. The conversation flowed easily, and you found yourself laughing more than you had in a long time.
During these sessions, you learned that Jeno was more than just a charming basketball player. He was kind, thoughtful, and had a dry sense of humor that made you chuckle. You also discovered that he was a great listener, always eager to hear your thoughts and ideas. Despite your resolve to forget about your crush, you couldn’t deny that he was easy to talk to and genuinely pleasant to be around. Funny how it was so much easier to get to know him and talk to him now that you decided to forget having a crush on him.
Still, there was no point in hoping to make a special connection with someone who’s taken.
“You were really good at it,” you told him once when you happened to talk about the Engineering Department’s basketball win. You were in the workshop, watching him color the sketch you made for your project.
“Not good enough to be MVP,” he said, shaking his head without lifting his head. “Speaking of, you were really supportive then.”
You shrugged, mentally rolling your eyes at how silly you were at the time. “I’m a fan of Mark’s when it comes to basketball,” you said, saving face with a harmless lie. “You were amazing too, so I thought you deserved the cheers.”
Jeno chuckled heartily, eyes crinkling as he looked up at you momentarily. The mole under his eye was a cute distraction. “You’re praising me too much. I should take you out to dinner.”
You flashed a deadpan expression before you burst out laughing. Jeno watched you with a goofy grin.
“I guess that was too fast, huh? Should I have gone for coffee instead?” he said and you could swear he was flirting with you.
Rolling your eyes, you brushed your assumptions aside. “I am tempted. But I must decline.”
He shrugged, taking your rejection in stride. “I’ll try again tomorrow then.”
“Charming,” you mocked. “It’s a shame you’re in a relationship. I would have accepted.”
Jeno’s hand froze on the sketchpad, looking up at you with a confused expression. “I’m in a relationship? Since when?”
“Since—” you paused, realizing the tone of his voice just now. “Wait, you’re not?”
You stared at each other, confusion and bewilderment visible on your faces. Before either of you could break the silence, Mr. Harris arrived to dismiss the class.
“I have to go,” you told him, gathering your stuff in haste before rushing out of the room.
Tumblr media
The living room of Renjun, Haechan, and Yangyang’s shared apartment was peaceful, the slow melodic music playing in the background bringing a tranquil vibe to the space. Sitting on the carpeted floor with their heads resting on the couch were Haechan, Jaemin, and Mark. The three of them had sheet masks on their faces, and on the coffee table sat a humidifier fogging the room with a sweet citrusy vanilla scent.
Renjun sat on the sofa, reading a book while also wearing a sheet mask. From the small kitchen, Sienna emerged with a glass of water.
“How’s it going?” she asked, beaming at the calming view of her friends taking care of their skin. It was her idea, of course. They do this once every two weeks, even calling it Spa Day.
“I look forward to this every time, Sienna,” said Jaemin before taking a deep breath.
Kayla appeared next to Sienna with a smirk. “You’re doing God’s work, S. I doubt these boys would recognize a moisturizer if it smacked them on the face.”
“Or a sunscreen,” Sienna added and the two shared a laugh. “They’re running late, aren’t they?” she asked, referring to you and Yangyang.
“Well, Yangyang said he’s opting out because he needs to be somewhere today. As for our girl—” Kayla was cut off by the loud sound of the door slamming open. The sound briefly shattered the tranquility of the atmosphere, catching everyone off-guard and even causing Renjun to jolt up from his seat.
All eyes turned to the doorway where you stood with your hand on the door, huffing as if you’d been running. Your eyes were wide and color seemed to have been drained from your face.
“Speak of the devil,” Kayla quipped, walking over to you.
Haechan tutted sternly. “Did you really have to slam the door like that? You’re so dramatic.”
Ignoring Haechan’s taunting, you walked into the flat and stood in front of Jaemin and Mark, who both looked up at you curiously.
“What’s up?” Jaemin asked, grinning.
“Tell me. Does Jeno have a girlfriend?”
Mark’s brows furrowed. “Not that I know of,” he said, turning to Jaemin for confirmation.
Jaemin shook his head at Mark and turned to you. “No. He doesn’t.”
You dropped your bag on the floor and knelt next to Jaemin, placing your shaking hands on his forearm. “But I saw him kiss this gorgeous girl at the Engineering party last month.”
“Really?” he questioned. He pondered for a moment and you shook his arms impatiently. “Last month? Then it must have been Camille from Com-Sci.”
“Do you know her?” you asked, confusion and concern evident.
“Yeah, she asked Jeno out, but he turned her down. I thought they might have hooked up, but Jeno said nothing happened,” Jaemin explained.
You cast a suspicious gaze at him. “Are you lying?”
Jaemin scoffed. “No. Why would I lie to you?”
“So, he’s single?” you asked, your voice tinged with relief.
“Pretty much,” Jaemin confirmed.
“Does he… you know… sleep around?” you asked hesitantly.
Jaemin chuckled, shaking his head. “Not as far as I know. But if he did, I’d rather not talk about his sex life.”
You rose to your feet, heading for the couch and slumping on it, face first. Thoughts raced in your head, so many of them at the same time that it was almost incoherent.
Mark turned to you on the couch. “Wait, you said you didn’t like him anymore? Was that the reason?”
“Oh my god!” Kayla exclaimed, realization slowly dawning on your friends.
“You saw him kiss a girl?” Renjun recalled, looking lost and confused. “And thought she was his girlfriend?”
“Yes,” you said, your voice muffled by the soft couch. You flailed your arms and kicked your legs in frustration. “God! I was so stupid!”
Sienna sat on the couch, taking your head and gently placing it on her lap. “No, you’re not. It was a completely normal reaction. I’d think he’s dating someone too if I saw him kiss her.”
“Right?” you blurted, lifting your head to see her face. You shifted on the couch, sitting up properly. “But that was a total miss, wasn’t it?”
“Kind of,” Sienna shrugged.
“Yeah, you should have just asked,” Mark added, smoothing out the sheet mask on his face.
Kayla sat on your other side. “So if he’s single, does that mean you can take another shot at him? You guys know each other now, right?”
You smiled sheepishly. “I don’t know. I’m kinda bummed now. Although I’m gonna be honest, I’m relieved that he’s single. I just… lost the motivation.”
“You still like him though, right?” Sienna asked.
You nodded and the girls exchanged looks. Kayla said, “Then what’s stopping you now?”
The realization began to settle in. Maybe things weren’t as complicated as you’d thought. This could very well be the universe giving you a second chance. Perhaps now you can approach him without the weight of false assumptions.
You shook your head slowly, processing the revelation. “What am I even gonna do about it? It’s not like I had a shot in the first place.”
Jaemin chuckled mischievously. “I don’t know why you’re saying that, but I think you have a clear shot.”
“Yeah. You can’t give up now after everything you’ve done so far!”
Haechan giggled beside Sienna. “Did anyone else notice that whenever we do Spa Day, we get juicy girl conversations like this?”
Leave it to Haechan to ruin an otherwise lovely moment. As you laughed along with your friends, you felt a renewed sense of hope. Maybe this time, things could turn out differently.
Tumblr media
The familiar scent of freshly cut wood and the sound of saws and sanders filled the air as you entered the Carpentry workshop. Your eyes scanned the room, landing on Jeno. He was already there, engrossed in his work, brows furrowed in concentration as he shaped a piece of wood.
Oddly, it felt gratifying to see him now knowing he wasn’t actually in love with someone. The sight of him always made your heart race, but today it felt different—more hopeful. You walked over to your workstation, trying to appear casual while stealing glances at him.
Jeno looked up and caught your eye, giving you a small, friendly nod. You returned the gesture, feeling a warm flutter in your chest. The knowledge that Jeno was single was a game-changer, but pursuing a relationship with him was an entirely different dilemma. You first needed to figure out if he even liked you at all.
Just the thought of being rejected was already bruising your pride and crushing your spirit. For now, you were resolved to act as normally as possible around him and avoid revealing your feelings.
You smiled, feeling a little self-conscious. Relax, you told yourself. It’s not like he—or anyone else—can read your mind. “Actually, yeah. Could you show me how to get this joint right?”
“Sure thing,” he said, his voice calm and patient. He walked over, and you held your breath nervously as he stood close to you. Trying to focus on his instructions, you found your gaze fixated on his lips.
“You got that?” he asked, eyes meeting yours.
You blinked, surprised and confused. “Sorry?”
Jeno chuckled lightly. “It’ll be easier if I just show you. Here.”
He took your hands in his, placing them on the piece of wood. The warmth from his skin seeped onto yours, sending a blush to your already burning cheeks. You mentally scolded yourself for being awkward and reminded yourself to breathe or you’d pass out.
Unaware of your mental struggle, Jeno guided your hands deftly, showing you the right angle. “See? It’s all about the angle,” he said, glancing up and catching your gaze. You quickly looked away, cheeks flushing.
“Got it,” you mumbled, attempting to steady your racing heart. Whatever happened to not being obvious? you screamed in your head.
As he continued to explain, you found yourself relaxing, letting his steady presence and soothing voice calm your nerves. You managed to follow his instructions, feeling a small surge of triumph when you finally got it right.
“There you go,” Jeno said with a smile, his eyes twinkling with approval. “You’re a natural.”
“Thanks,” you replied, trying to sound casual despite the butterflies in your stomach.
“Anytime,” he said, still standing close.
As days turned into weeks, you found yourself admiring Jeno more and more. His dedication to the project was evident in every detail, from the meticulous sanding of each piece to the careful assembly of the frame. He was not just talented but also incredibly kind and encouraging, always ready with a smile or a reassuring word when you struggled with a task.
One afternoon, as you both worked on the chair’s reclining mechanism, Jeno glanced over at you, his expression thoughtful. “You’ve got a real knack for this,” he said, his voice warm with sincerity. “I’m impressed.”
Your heart fluttered at his compliment, and you felt a rush of gratitude. “Thanks, Jeno. I couldn’t have done it without your help,” you replied, meeting his gaze.
Your admiration for him grew with each shared glance and quiet conversation. During breaks, you chatted about everything from school to personal interests, laughing together over jokes and enjoying companionable silence. The air between you was charged with a growing sense of familiarity and ease.
“Do you have any hobbies outside of this?” he asked one day, genuinely curious.
“I love photography,” you admitted, feeling more comfortable sharing your passions with him. “Though I’m not very good at it. I like to sketch too, sometimes.”
“Oh yeah. The sketch you made for this chair was awesome. It looked like you can actually touch the details,” Jeno said, a smile spreading across his face.
“Yeah, you already told me that,” you chimed.
“Maybe you could show me some of your work sometime.”
“Hmm. I only show it to my close friends,” you teased, grinning at him when he clutched his chest pretending to be hurt by your words.
“Four weeks of being partners and I still don’t count as a close friend?” he questioned, face contorted in mock offense and curiosity.
“You're overreacting. Four weeks is only eight days for us, Jeno Lee. We have Carpentry class on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.”
“But we worked on this outside class last Friday.”
“Once. That’s nine days. Still not a lot of time,” you quipped. It was gradual but the boundaries between project partners and friends began to blur for you and Jeno, which is why you now feel comfortable just hanging out and joking around like this. Although you’re still gaga about him and get butterflies over the smallest gestures, you no longer get tongue-tied or nervous around him.
You went from sneaking glances at him in the cafeteria to sharing lunch together twice. From admiring him quietly in the quad or the library to smiling and saying ‘Hi’. You were definitely friends now, although not as close. It was a welcome change, making you look forward to every school day.
One particularly memorable afternoon, you both struggled with the final adjustments to the chair. You have been working on this mechanism for a while now and still couldn’t get it to work properly. You’ve done everything you possibly could, even getting hands-on help from your professor.
“Now, then,” Mr Harris said, wiping the sweat on his forehead. “Try that again.”
You nodded, feeling a surge of determination. Working together, you managed to align the pieces perfectly, and the chair finally reclined smoothly. There were quiet gasps in the classroom while you and Jeno stared at each other with mouths hanging open.
“Oh my god!” you exclaimed, hands flying over your mouth. Quietly, you added, “We did it.”
Jeno’s smile was warm and relieved. “We did it,” he echoed.
.Overwhelmed with joy, you threw your arms around his neck, and he hugged you back, lifting you slightly off your feet. Realizing belatedly that you were hugging Jeno made you hyper-aware of the moment. You shyly pulled away, glancing anywhere but at him. Mr. Harris was clapping behind him, making you smile gratefully.
Being lifted made you hyper-aware, realizing belatedly that you were hugging Jeno. You shyly pulled away, glancing anywhere else but Jeno. Mr Harris was clapping behind him, making you smile gratefully.
“Thanks, sir!” you told your professor.
“Mr. Harris was putting you up for failure when he assigned you the reclining chair,” one of your classmates quipped, walking over to examine your work.
You laughed lightly, watching your other classmates approach your worktable. Your eyes met Jeno’s among your classmates, and he showed you a thumbs-up which you returned with a smile. Your heart was beating wildly in your chest as your mind replayed the part where you were hugging Jeno over and over.
Jeno approached you with a proud smile in his eyes. “We did it!” he said, giving you a high-five that lingered just a moment longer than necessary. The brief contact sent a thrill through you, a reminder of how much you enjoyed being close to him.
Mr. Harris announced that the projects would be judged by other professors, which would impact your grades. Every pair had completed their pieces—tables, lamps, chairs, and more. While yours might not be the prettiest, you hoped it would get the recognition it deserved.
After class, as students cleaned up, Jeno pointed out something that made you laugh. “You’ve got a lot of pens and pencils,” he said, eyebrows raised and eyes wide. “Like, a lot.”
“That’s not even half of them. I keep buying them for no reason. It’s hoarding at this point,” you admitted with a sheepish grin.
“Hmm. I see,” he responded, still amused. He leaned on the worktable, his backpack slung over one shoulder. “You must write a lot. Or draw.”
“Like I told you before, I sketch. And I do write, but not as much as you think. Even if I did, the sheer volume of pens I have is excessive. I think I need to see a psychiatrist for this,” you joked, shaking your head.
Jeno shook his head, “I don’t think so. Everyone is allowed their own harmless obsession. Mine is probably weirder.”
Your curiosity piqued, you asked, “Oh really? What’s yours?”
He hesitated, a glint of embarrassment in his eyes. “Nah, you don’t wanna know.”
Sometimes it was frustrating that Jeno was completely clueless about your massive crush on him. If he had even the slightest clue, he’d know you were definitely—absolutely—totally, interested in anything and everything about him.
“Actually, I do,” you replied, trying to tone down your interest to the Not-So-Obsessed-With-Him Level.
Jeno looked away, scratching his nape. “Forget it. Let’s just go.”
“Oh come on, you can’t say something like that and then not tell me!” you protested, playfully nudging him.
After some pestering, he finally confessed, “When I was in high school, I liked keeping confetti.”
“Confetti?”
“Not just any confetti. Only the ones from our basketball games. The ones where we win. Like a little memento.”
You smiled at his revelation, zipping your bag after you finished packing your stuff. “That’s actually really cute.”
“No, it’s not,” he said, looking away shyly with his ears reddening out of embarrassment.
“It is!” you insisted, letting him take your bag after he stopped you from wearing it over your shoulder. “Didn’t you say everyone is allowed their own harmless obsessions?”
“Alright… I guess?” Jeno shrugged, a shy smile making his cheeks burn. You walked out of the classroom together, your bag in his hand. “I have them in small ziplock bags.”
You couldn’t help but laugh. “Why ziplock bags? Don’t you have a jar or something?”
“I do, but it’s easier to organize them with ziplock bags.”
“How about a scrapbook? You could glue them in and write about them.”
“Uh… no thanks. I’m not at all artistic or craftsy.”
“You were good with woodworking though.”
“That’s different.”
The project is nearly complete. You realized how much you cherished these moments with Jeno. The reclining chair, with its smooth lines and functional elegance, stood as a testament to your combined efforts and growing friendship. But more than that, it symbolized the bond you had forged through hard work, shared dreams, and mutual respect. The realization filled you with a quiet sense of joy and hope that this closeness would continue to grow even after the project ended.

"what's going on?" suguru asks a sulking satoru. the giant had strolled his way into suguru's room while the dark haired man read up on his science textbook.
satoru plops his body down onto suguru's bed, face first. "shweeelefuuhffmweeefworrrguuud." whatever satoru is saying is unintelligible which makes suguru roll his eyes. he had an important test coming up and had no time for satoru's games right now.
"i can't understand you." suguru tells satoru with a sigh. he sets his book down beside him on the bed. he crosses his arms while looking over at his bestfriend.
slowly, satoru lifts his head to look at his companion. "she left me." he tells him before plopping his face back down.
"which she? the one you're with all of the time?" suguru asks. "the one who cried when she called you daddy in front of us?" he continues to try to match a face to the supposed 'she'.
satoru tilts his head so that his chek rests onto the mattress instead of his entire face. "yeah, bun." he confirms.
"why'd she leave you?" suguru questions. he already knows it's going to be because of satoru did something stupid or selfish, maybe even both.
satoru shifts his position so that he's laying on his back. he scratches the side of his neck anxiously before he begins retelling what happened.
"so, me, her, and choso. we're all standing in the kitchen laughing and shit. and then the topic shifts to me and her, sukuna starts asking her all these lovey dovey ass questions. she was blinded and didn't see that he was doing it out of entertainment, and not because he actually cared." satoru explains. he pauses and inhales a heavy breath as if something's weighing him down. "so then, sukuna asks me if i love her. and shit, suguru she's looking all hopeful there were practically hearts in her damn eyes, so i say yes. and then he asks me if i'm willing to do whatever it takes to stay with her. and i just paused and accidentally answered honestly."
"what did you say in response?" suguru asks boredly.
"i was like, uhhh nahhh. but then i looked over, and she was on the verge of tears. so i tried to play it off by saying i'm just playing but she was already storming off by then. and now, i'm blocked on everything." satoru recounts.
suguru pauses and stares at satoru. "you're a fucking idiot." he tells him plainly.
"that happened a week ago. and now, i'm seeing her around with this guy. she was always laughing and smiling with him. trhe shit is driving me insane. i bet he can't even fuck her how i fuck her." satoru begins grumbling about all of the flaws he's noticed about the guy.
suguru cuts satoru off. if he lets him continue, he'd be ranting for hours. "how have you been feeling since she left?"
"i care, sorta. y'know she was sweet as fuck. and that pussy is to die for. if i find out they fucked i'm getting the rope." suguru tell by the way satoru stares blankly at the ceiling that he might be serious which only makes suguru roll his eyes again, just this time much harder.
"outside of her body, do you miss her as a person?"
".. yeah. i got used to her waking up in my arms, her ranting about her day, and her rubbing my scalp with her nails while we both fall asleep." suguru's eyesbrows furrow, satoru shockingly sounds both sad and genuine.
"well apologize. to her face, not through text. give her gifts you know she'd like. just make sure everything is thought out and genuine, girls like that shit. y'know she's sweet and sensitive so don't make your apology about you, make it about the topic and how you offended her." suguru has to cut himself off because if not, he'd go on for hours. he gets poetic when it comes to love.
satoru bites down on his lip as he takes his bestfriend's words into consideration. eventually, he nods and sits up. "alright, man."
as satoru walks out, he purposely makes sure to leave suguru's door cracked open just to irritate him.
"gojo satoru!"

"I'm so glad you finally agreed to watch this movie with me!" You exclaim, giddy as you set a giant bowl of popcorn on the coffee table. Settling onto the plush velvet sofa, you rest your back against the armrest and pull your knees up, watching Logan trudge into the room.
"Well, it's only 'cause you kept buggin' me about it," he mumbles. Nonetheless, he plops his thick frame onto the sofa, the weight of his body causing your sock-covered feet to slide under his thigh.
You tense a little, giving him a quick glance before turning to the TV. He doesn't say anything, so you leave your feet under his warmth. Silence falls as you flip through the streaming apps.
"Um," you speak up, trying to cut the one-sided tension. You're pretty sure Logan is unfazed, but you want to be wrong. You mumble to yourself, filling the silence for your own comfort.
The room goes dark as the movie starts, and you try to settle in. Grabbing a giant blanket, you drape it over your legs, the fabric pooling where you touch Logan. You hope he might grab the blanket too, but he doesn't.
You scoff at the embarrassment creeping up your throat and try to focus on the movie. As you open your mouth to comment, Logan cuts you off.
"You don't gotta do that," he grumbles.
Sinking further into your seat, you bring your legs a little closer and grab the popcorn, attempting to pay attention to the screen. It works pretty well until you feel Logan shift beside you, and suddenly all you can think about is him.
You and Logan have been "friends" for about a year now, but have known each other for three. It took you two years to befriend the guy. Granted, your first year at the school was spent interning with Storm, and you were as timid as a mouse, always hiding behind her - especially when Logan came around.
It wasn't until the end of your first year that Storm felt confident enough in your abilities to loosen the lead. She began letting you go on missions with other people. At first, you avoided missions involving Logan; he was still too intense at times, and your self-confidence wasn't as strong as Storm's faith in you. But after a few big missions, you began to grow into yourself, and your confidence skyrocketed.
Missions evolved from involving handfuls of students and professors to solo projects as things got more serious. Then came one particular mission where Charles and the team felt it best that Logan accompany you. You protested right up until you left.
"Y/n," Charles stared at you intently as you stood by the door, Logan's footsteps thudding around the corner. "It's not that we think you aren't capable. We need your full focus on decoding the encrypted system."
"And I can-" You feel yourself getting fussy, as childish as it sounds. Scott grabs you by the shoulders, cutting you off mid-sentence, shocking you.
"Listen, Y/n," he sighs. "As much as you hate it, you're one of us now. The information you're going after is too valuable to risk doing it on your own. We need you to be one hundred percent focused on that, because once Sebastian Shaw realizes we're trying to get into his system, he will rain hellfire on whoever gets in his way. Logan is the only one who can be of service to you right now, so please." His voice softens as he begs. You see the worry sewn into his eyebrows and look at Charles, who is staring right back at you.
You sighed, just as Logan walked up behind Charles.
"Okay," you give a tight smile, and Scott taps his knuckle against your chin, trying to cheer you up. You let out an airy laugh and shove his hand away.
"You'll be fine," he tousles your hair before turning to look at Logan, who's staring intently at you both. Logan doesn't say anything and begins walking out the door.
"Professor," he grumbles as his figure fades into the dark of the night. Charles watches Logan walk off, then turns to you with a smirk on his face.
"Don't worry, everything will work out as it's supposed to." He gives you a wink, leaving you confused about his meaning.
"Uh, alright," you say, giving him a small nod as you head out following Logan.
After that mission, you and Logan became an oddly almost inseparable pair, which you deem as "friendship" even if he doesn't agree. Although you weren't glued to the hip, Logan was almost never far behind, and neither were you. Over the past couple of months, though, your relationship with Logan has evolved into something... complicated. There's an undeniable closeness between you, but it's hard to define. Sometimes, it feels like you're the little sister he never had - he's protective, gruff, and occasionally teases you mercilessly. Other times, there's a crackling tension in the air that makes you wonder if there's something more.
Like the time you were reaching for a book in the library, and Logan came up behind you to help. His chest brushed against your back as he grabbed it, and when you turned, you found yourself trapped between him and the bookshelf. For a moment, neither of you moved, your eyes locked, hearts racing. The air felt charged, and you could've sworn you saw something flicker in his eyes before he stepped back. You whispered a shy "thanks," avoiding eye contact by pretending to wipe dust off the book jacket. Logan straightened up, muttering "No problem, kid," as he walked away.
Or the time you were bantering in the garage while he worked on his bike. What started as playful teasing about him being demanding turned into something more when you challenged his ability to intimidate you anymore. He stood up slowly, moving close until you were almost nose to nose, growling softly, "Wanna bet?" The tension was palpable until Scott's voice broke the moment.
Then there's how you've fallen into these little routines without even realizing. Like how Logan always saves you a seat at briefings, or how you automatically grab two beers when heading to the kitchen after a long day. Or especially when, on every second and fourth Sunday morning of the month, both you and Logan have brunch (that's right) at this one diner that you insisted was to die for. It wasn't until Beast commented on your "domestic routine" that you both seemed to realize how couple-like you'd become.
And who could forget those late-night talks? Like the time you wandered into the kitchen at 2 AM, plagued by mission nightmares, only to find Logan there. What started as a few words of comfort turned into hours of conversation, sharing fears and hopes. As dawn broke, Logan squeezed your hand and said, "You're stronger than you think, kid." The look in his eyes made your heart skip a beat.
Moments like that leave you wondering if there's something more brewing between you and Logan, something beyond the boundaries of friendship or family. But neither of you has been brave enough to cross that line... yet.
You've tried to convince yourself it's nothing more than a close friendship, possibly a mentorship even. But there are moments - fleeting and intense - that make you question everything. You're stuck in this limbo, too afraid to push for more, yet unable to ignore the possibility that there might be something deeper brewing between you and Logan.
A guttural roar rips through the air, startling you out of your focus. Your head snaps towards Logan as another snore cuts through the silence. You don't know whether to laugh or look adoringly at the giant man sitting beside you.
He's sunken deeper into the sofa than when the movie first started. His arms are crossed over his chest, and his head lolls to the side, chin resting uncomfortably on his chest. His arms and head rise and fall with each breath, obviously so far gone at this point. You feel heat creeping up the back of your neck as you watch the usually stone-faced and stoic man sleeping beside you.
He's clad in comfortable clothes: black sweatpants, a zip-up hoodie, and his usual wifebeater clinging to his skin underneath. Your eyes focus on the bare skin that peeks out between the fabric of his sweater and the sleeve of the tank top. His hair is tousled and fluffier than usual, the air conditioning giving you occasional whiffs of peppermint and eucalyptus — his signature shampoo. The scent is never overwhelming, rather a subtle reminder of his presence.
You find yourself studying his face, softer now in sleep than you've ever seen it. The perpetual furrow between his brows has smoothed out, and his lips are slightly parted. Another snore rumbles through him, and you can't help but smile. It's rare to see Logan so unguarded, so... human.
A part of you wants to wake him, to tease him about falling asleep during your favorite movie. But a larger part revels in this moment of vulnerability, this glimpse of Logan that so few get to see. You wonder what he'd do if you gently brushed that stray lock of hair from his forehead, or if you repositioned yourself so you were closer.
The movie plays on, forgotten, as you lose yourself in contemplation of the man beside you. You're hyper-aware of every point where your bodies touch: your leg against his thigh, your arm brushing his as you shift slightly. The warmth of his body seems to seep into yours, and you find yourself leaning closer, drawn in by his presence even in sleep.
It's in quiet moments like these that the line between friendship and something more blurs dangerously. You know you should look away, should focus on the movie, but you can't bring yourself to break this spell. Instead, you allow yourself this stolen moment, committing every detail to memory, all the while wondering if Logan ever has moments like this about you.
All of a sudden, Logan jolts and his head falls back against the headrest, another loud snore coming from his mouth and physically shaking your chest.
Alright, that's enough.
You shift closer to him while grabbing the pillow from behind your back and swing it towards his face. He instinctively grabs your wrist before you can make contact and pulls you in closer. He opens his eyes, staring at you threateningly as if asking "what the hell do you think you're doing," but when he realizes it's you, his gaze softens.
"What," he says, his voice deep with sleep. He unconsciously pulls you closer so your chest barely brushes against his shoulder.
"Get up, you're snoring and I can't hear the movie," you quip, trying not to let your voice falter - as if being this close to him had no effect on you whatsoever. Not like you were paying attention anyway. Logan sighs, lowering your hand from his face but not letting go of your wrist. Instead, he continues to hold it in his hand as he rests it on his stomach. Your hand tenses against the warmth of his body and - god, you hope he didn't feel that.
"Then turn it up louder," he says, closing his eyes and trying to make himself comfortable once again. You don't move. Instead, you... maybe... lean in closer? Logan doesn't notice.
"What, so you can yell at me for waking you up?" You give him a little nudge with your leg. "I don't think so."
Logan's eyes remain closed, but his grip on your wrist loosens, his thumb absently tracing circles on your skin. The gentle touch sends shivers up your arm.
"You woke me up anyway," he murmurs, his voice a low rumble that you feel more than hear.
You try to steady your breathing, very aware of how close you are. "Well, someone had to save you from choking on your own snores."
His lips quirk up in a half-smile. "My hero," he says dryly, finally opening his eyes to look at you.
The intensity of his gaze catches you off guard. There's something there, something beyond his usual gruffness. Your breath hitches as his eyes roam your face, lingering on your lips before meeting your eyes again.
"Logan," you whisper, not sure what you're asking for.
He shifts slightly, turning his body towards you. Your knees dig deeper into his hip and thigh, and he still hasn't let go of your wrist. With his free hand, he reaches up, tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear. His fingers linger on your cheek, and you instinctively lean into his touch.
"Yeah?" he responds, his voice rough and low.
The air between you feels charged, electric. You're hyper-aware of every point of contact between you - his hand on your face, his fingers around your wrist, your legs pressed together. Your heart is pounding so hard you're sure he can hear it.
Logan leans in, slowly, giving you every opportunity to pull away. But you don't. You can't. You're frozen, caught between anticipation and disbelief. Is this really happening?
Just as his lips are about to brush yours, a loud explosion from the forgotten movie makes you both jump. The spell is broken. Logan pulls back, clearing his throat.
"We should, uh... finish the movie," he says, but he doesn't move away. His arm comes to rest on the back of the couch behind you, not quite touching but close enough that you can feel the heat radiating from him.
You nod, not trusting your voice. As you settle back to watch the film, you're hyper-aware of Logan beside you. The almost-kiss hangs in the air between you, unspoken but impossible to ignore. Every now and then, you catch him looking at you out of the corner of your eye, and you know that something has fundamentally shifted between you.
The movie plays on, but neither of you are really watching anymore. You're too busy wondering what might happen when the credits roll, and secretly hoping that maybe, just maybe, you'll get another chance to finish what you started.

DBH!AU!JJK x Reader
This about our robot peeps having their first kiss with the reader... and I finally decided to take the poll winner's au seriously. This features Gojo, Nanami, Geto + Sukuna. BTW, Gojo and Nanami are not deviants but Geto and Sukuna are...just saying.
GOJO Satoru -
Tumblr media
◌•·················•·················•◌
Taking a bite from your sandwich, you look over at your robotic companion. Curious, you swallow quickly and point a sticky finger toward him.
"Can you guys eat and drink or...?"
You look at him expectantly as he blinks at you then speaks.
"My creator tried to make us as human-like as possible. We can't eat or drink, but we can taste. We have your senses but not all human abilities."
You hum and lick your fingers clean of the sauce from your burger. Then an idea popped into your head as you looked over at Gojo.
"Gojo, come here. I want to see something."
He walks over to your side and peers down at you.
"Bend down."
He complies and bends down enough that he's right at your own height.
You gently push your lips against his, eyes closing in the process. You can feel him open his mouth slightly and you can't help but smile into the kiss. You pull away and smile at him while licking your lips.
"Could you taste that?"
"Yes."

NANAMI Kento -
Tumblr media
You had a little too much fun at a party. He declared it was time to go home since before the party got lit, you told him to set an alarm to take you home.
"Miss Y/n, are you feeling okay?"
"Justtt peachyyyy..."
You curl into his shoulder more as he carries you up to your front door. He presses a finger to the door knob and walks inside before locking the door again. He adjusts you in his arms and strides quickly up the stairs.
"Where - Where am I?"
"Home Miss Y/n. You're home."
"Oh, okay."
The door to your bedroom swings open as he places you gently on your bed. You grip his wrist tight before he can walk out of your room.
"Don't leave just yet, I want to thank you."
"You don't have to."
"Well, I want to. Is that too much for a woman to want?"
"I guess not Miss Y/n."
You shakily stand up, still gripping him for support and sway closer to his person. You press a kiss to his lips as his eyes slightly widen but accept his fate.
"Thank you."
"Good night Y/n."
◌•·················•·················•◌
GETO Suguru -
Tumblr media
You had come inside with blood on your clothes and face. He was unfazed until he saw you swaying left and right.
"Y/n? Hey."
You fall forward and thankfully, he catches you before your face can harshly hit the hardwood floors of your apartment. When you wake up, he's looking at you. His dark eyes pierce your soul and his lips frown.
He pushes his chair closer to your bed and sits back patiently.
"What happened?"
"I got into a small fight with somebody. That's all."
"This," He points to the now wrapped wound on your side.
"This isn't a 'small fight' Y/n. Now what happened?"
"One of the cops tried to question me about deviants and I panicked. That's how I got shot."
The exhale he let out told you everything you needed to know. He was scared to lose you completely. It was nice that he cared so much but you didn't want him to worry like that.
"I'm sorry... for making you worry."
"You don't get it. I literally searched up videos, websites and articles trying to save your ass. I was fucking scared Y/n."
You meet his eyes finally and open your arms to him.
"Come here Suguru."
He listens and climbs next to you on your bed. You turn your head to face him. His face was so close to yours, it was almost impossible not to do what you wanted. Your eyes fluttered closed as you lean into his lips and let your tongues devour each other.
It started to get a little heated but then you winced in pain from trying to twist your body. He pulls away immediately and goes back to looking at you.
"Don't hurt yourself. We can talk about this when you're fully healed."
You couldn't help but sigh in disappointment but complied with his wishes. You couldn't stop the soft laugh from coming out as your lips curled upward.
"By the way..."
"Yeah?"
"I hope you put a bullet in his skull."
"You already know I did."
◌•·················•·················•◌
SUKUNA -
Tumblr media
"Let's go!"
Sukuna pulled you down the street, running as fast as possible. You currently had the cops chasing you because they noticed he was a deviant. Thankfully it was dark, so it should be easy to lose them rather quickly.
"In here."
You tug him into an alleyway next to a club and quickly take off the hoodie you had over your outfit. You pull on his shirt.
"Take this off. Quickly before they come."
He listens to you and does exactly what you say which is unlike him.
"Okay, just pretend to make out with me. We have to act...busy."
"...I'm not doing that."
"Don't be difficult! Do you want to get caught?"
"Rather not."
You look to the side and see the flashlights approaching quickly. You look at his face, grab his face and kiss him rough. Both of your eyes fluttered closed as you continued the 'fake' make out session. His hands roaming your entire body and yours wrapping around him tightly.
You hear the footsteps disappear and pull away from him. Heavy and deep breaths were shared amongst the two of you as a spit trail still connects your lips.
"They're gone. Let's go Sukuna."
You smack his arm and walk out of the alleyway, fixing your clothes. He puts his shirt back on and follows next to you, not saying anything smart.
"Wow, I made THE Sukuna speechless...I must be real good."
"Shut up!"

Tumblr media
A soft knock was heard from the bedroom door before it slowly opened.
“Baby?” You hear Mike mutter from the door. It’s dark in your shared bedroom, your back is towards the door so he can’t see if you’re awake.
“Mike?” You reply, letting him know you were awake and not asleep. It was still day, the sun shining out, though you had the curtains shut so none of it could peek into the dark room.
You hear a bit of shuffling, you assume he’s taking off his coat. The two of you had been outdoors with Abby, watching her while she played in the front yard before you excused yourself and crawled into bed. You made sure to let Mike know that you weren’t feeling well due to your period cramps before going inside.
You feel the other side of the bed dip a little, Mike’s body pressing against yours a little. “Do you need anything?” He asks, pressing soft kisses against the back of your neck, his hand resting on your hip, gently drawing circles with his thumb there.
He just wanted to make you feel better.
“Could you just bring me some Ibuprofen, please? I left the bottle in the kitchen.” You ask, feeling that familiar guilt you felt anytime you asked him to do anything. Most times you wouldn’t even ask him but right now you could feel your pain increasing.
“Of course,” he mumbled against your skin, giving you a final peck before standing up. “I’ll be back.”
He returns in a few minutes, walking over to your side of the bed, and turning on the bedside lamp. You squint your eyes a little as they get used to the brightness even if it is rather dim, honestly.
He sets a glass of water down on the table, handing you the Ibuprofen and setting the bottle aside. He made sure to bring it so you wouldn’t have to get up and get it. You notice him set down a bar of dark chocolate, too, and then he holds out a heating pad.
“I, uh, I wasn’t sure if you just wanted the pills…” he mumbles, a shy smile playing at his lips when he sees the look you give him.
You weren’t sure before if it were possible to fall more in love with this man, but he somehow managed to prove you wrong every time.
“Oh, Mike,” you take the heating pad, setting it down and taking hold of his hand. “Thank you, baby.”
Mike smiles upon hearing you call him ‘baby’, something he secretly adored. He would never admit how happy it made him feel whenever you called him something sweet like that.
“You're welcome.” He says before turning off the lamp and crawling back into bed, on his side, draping his arm over you gently. You were facing up, the heating pad Mike brought you helping your cramps.
Mike kissed your shoulder, the smell of your hair bringing comfort to him.
“I’m sorry I left you guys outside alone.” You sigh, your fingers playing with the soft curls on Mike’s head. You tried not to let the guilt eat you away, remembering the concerned look on Mike’s face when you left earlier.
“Don’t apologise,” he assured, pressing himself closer to your side. He was suddenly feeling very clingy. “I was just concerned if you were okay.”
You smile softly, in awe at how caring he is. God, he was just perfect. It warmed your heart at how benevolent he was.
A comfortable silence lingered between the two for a moment as you mindlessly played with his hair, the soft sound of your breaths bouncing off the walls, with the sound of Mike’s little pecks he occasionally pressed against your shoulder and then to your neck. It seemed to be a reflex of his.
You turn to face him, bringing your hands to either side of his face, catching him before he can press another kiss to your skin. You could barely make him out in the dark, but that didn’t matter, you could tell he was smiling at you.
You lean in, innocently kissing his lips, smiling as you do so. He kissed you back, his smile pressed against yours, both of you feeding off such a sweet moment.
You pull away first, giggling once you do. He never failed to make you feel better.
“I love you.”

Kaeya x reader [angst with fluff]
I love him omg I wrote this a long time ago in so sorry about this writing
Kaeya 🔛🔝
NO BAD ENDINGS BTW
TW: a tree falls on you?? Is that a tw idk
I based it off of this amazing fanart
Tumblr media
Preview:
"i will protect you my love. i will not let you out of my sight. ever again."
"...oh but my dear you said-"
kaeya's sword was drawn the instant he felt something was wrong, your conversation cut short. the two of you were traveling down the road together so that kaeya could help with some of your commissions, per his request. who were you to say no to the handsome face of his?
you stood just as close to him with your weapon at the ready. although you couldn't see any danger, your body felt it, the air seeming to wait with you as everything was still. then you saw it, a ruin guard bursting forth from a large amount of brush. at once kaeya used his vision to freeze its feet. it fell, but from it’s back shot out six missiles that targeted you both.
you used your weapon to put many deep cuts  into its metal body, dodging the missiles, but it still persisted. when it realized how close you had gotten, it began spinning its upper torso in a tornado like motion. quickly you ran, dodging its massive arms. kaeya and you both had run deep into the forest, making it hard for the ruin guard to target you accurately. you kept up with your attacks to lure the guard to a nearby tree.
kaeya had climbed into that nearby tree and managed to plunge his sword into the neck of the guard once it was near. horrible machine like noises screeched out from it before the cold body tumbled down a slope. it's arm flailed uselessly as it's cold body crashed into several trees and plants.
when it stopped rolling and landed firmly into a large stone, you both ran down to inspect it. the light in its core flickered out, letting you breath a sigh of relief.
"well that was exciting, don't you think?" kaeya nudged your shoulders playfully. putting your hand on your eyes and sighing again you responded, "i just want to finish my commissions and go to bed. it's already in the afternoon."
gesturing your hand towards a clearing, you both looked to see the sun getting pretty low. you also noticed the large mass of dark clouds rolling in rapidly, signaling rain.
From nowhere, a large gust of wind blowed, making the forest around you move loudly. the branches swayed violently and a loud snap above you both caught your attention. a massive limb fell in front of you on the ruin guards legs, causing you to jump and put a hand on your chest to still your quickening heart.
"i would say we head in, you've done enough work for today and it looks like a storm may pass by. knights need there proper rest" kaeya offers and sheaths his sword.
you nod, but notice a moving object behind the both of you. the crack you heard earlier wasn't just the branch, it was also the massive tree behind you that had been damaged by the ruin guards arms. it was tipping over in both of your directions quickly. by the time kaeya had turned his head to follow your gaze, you had already acted on instinct and panic.
putting both of your hands on his shoulders, you pushed him as hard as you could out of the way. at the last moment, kaeya grabbed your hand while it was still in reach, trying to pull you along with him. unfortunately the tree was faster than kaeya, and it managed to catch your side sending you down with it. kaeya was still sent tumbling away from you because of the push, unable to catch himself.
the scream you let out was one of pure panic and pain. the sensation was like nothing you had ever experienced. fireworks were setting off in your mind, the only thing you could focus on was the tree that trapped your ribs and torso underneath it.
it felt like it was tearing you apart. you were sure that the tree had successfully shattered at least two ribs and tore a lot of skin on your front and side stomach. panic from the pain made your arms uselessly try to push the tree, brain not knowing what else to do.
kaeya scrambled to his feet and sprinted your way after hearing your guttural cry. tears made everything hard to see, and your mind was too preoccupied to focus on kaeya's words and shouts. dark spots appeared in the corner of your eyes, and you stopped trying to struggle from shock. you felt kaeya's bloodied hand shakily brush your temple as your body went limp, soon feeling nothing in your lower half but pain. words couldn't describe how much it hurt.
it was a body numbing pain, but you could still make out kaeya's promise.
"i'll be back with help i promise-i promise you. i won't leave you. Ever."
it was strange that this typically flirty and calm man was now shaken with his face contorted with emotion you couldn't make out, not that you could process anything in the moment. kaeya's hand left you as he took off sprinting toward mondstadt that wasn't too far away. rain from the dark clouds soon began to fall on you through the leaves of the forest.
your eyes fluttered close and your mind swirled black. it seemed that time had lengthened while you were trapped, and it felt like kaeya was taking an eternity to come back like he promised.
this tree might kill me, you thought dimly. your fingers twitched at your side as your arms were sprawled out beside you. everything was too numb with pain to move. as you were trapped you continued to cry. the pain was so terrible that your mind was blacking out. in your fading consciousness you could hear yelling in the distance. was that jeans voice?
footsteps became louder and figures finally arrived in your vision. kaeya was the first to appear, quickly taking hold of the tree and lifting with the help of several other men he had gathered.
a new kind of terrible pain resurfaced as jean and lisa pulled out your body from where the tree had crushed you. the men set the tree back down once your body was completely away from it. your cries started again as lisa knelt beside you, body becoming warm as blood from your deep wounds poured out onto the grass.
"kaeya!..kaeya..." you tried to talk and call for him.
"shh darling it'll be over soon."  lisa put her hand over your eyes as magic flowed out. the pain you felt was no longer there as everything became fuzzy, a painless transition into sleep.
when your eyes opened you were in a new scenery. the large windows near you were wet and misty, the curtains pulled away. the structure of the room told you that you were at the favonius headquarters. your body itself was in a large hospital like bed that barely lifted your upper half up a bit to see the room. breathing seemed to cause some discomfort for some reason.
when you tried taking a deep breath of air you quickly stopped because of the sharp pain it caused. with a shaking glance your eyes landed on your midsection. blood stained bandages wrapped your entire lower half. it was then that you remembered.
they had to take your top off in order to get to the problem, your chest being wrapped for obvious reasons. The wrapping was separated from your lower bandages so they could be changed easier. you lifted your arms beside you to test them, but could only lift so far before it hurt, so you limited your arm movement to elbow and down.
fear kept you from speaking in case your voice was hoarse and you started coughing. you couldn't imagine the pain that might occur. swallowing your spit alone hurt. a noise from outside the door made you more aware. ...crying?
Jean’s voice and what you thought kaeya's was could be heard from the other side of the door, though the distance meant you could only pick up phrases and few words.
"kaeya...got here in time...it's ok...she will...fine...need time...heal"
"but...couldn't grab...hand...in mine...i couldn't...she could've...fault jean...mine"
those were the words you could make out as a new voice came in,
"we should...check on...her...made tea to...the pain...if she's awake...drink it."
the door to the room opened slowly as though they thought you were still asleep. lisa's face was soft, but looked like she was tired. her eyes lifted when she saw that you were awake.
"oh!" her surprise sound prompted the crying to slow. a teary eyed kaeya burst in beside lisa, jean following after him and smiling at you.
you couldn't move, but were startled by kaeya's face. he's never cried in front of you. you don't know if he's cried at all. he had some bandages as well on his hands and other places, probably from when you pushed him.
quickly, he strided over to you to tend to you, his hands finding their way to your face as he peppered sweet kisses everywhere.
you couldn't allow yourself to change your breathing pattern or else it would come at a cost. he would do this to any severely injured friend, i'm sure, you thought as your heart fluttered. it's just that he's overjoyed.
Kaeya pressed a big but gentle kiss on your forehead before sinking down into a chair beside the bed, leaning down to bury his head in your hand.
"i'm sorry my love" he whispered out using a pet name. you lifted your elbow and set your hand on top his head, your fingers softly playing with his hair as he remained there. lisa came over and set down a teacup on a table on the other side of the bed, speaking calmly,
"you've been asleep for two days under a heavy sleep spell. you have two broken ribs and some severe gashes on your stomach. they won't scar with the proper healing and some magic, but it will take a lot of time and medicine."
lisa continued, "i made this tea this morning that will keep you healthy and also speed up the healing process. it has some magic in there that will allow you to drink without pain."
she brought the cup to your lips and you drank it. she was right, you couldn't feel any pain from drinking it, and it actually helped the overall pain you felt.
"i'll be back later to change the bandages."
once the two girls had left the room, it was just kaeya and you. your hand was still playing with his hair as you noticed a tear rolling down his face. when he looked at your bandages, he closed his eyes. seeing you hurt was his worst nightmare. and it had come true. he hid his face in the sheets, so you tried to speak knowing that the magic would help,
"kaeya you did all that you could. i wouldn't be here right now healing if you hadn't gotten help. don't blame yourself."
"you are my one priority and i...couldn't keep you safe. what if it killed you...i can't..." kaeya's whisper of a voice responded.
"hey hey," you calmy said stroking his head, "i said don't blame yourself-"
"i love you." kaeya blurted out. His sudden burst made you suck in a breath, which luckily didn't hurt thanks to the tea.
"i love you." he said again. kaeya took your hand from his head and brought it down to kiss your flesh. repeatedly he kiss your hand, over your knuckles and fingertips he pressed his lips
"i love you i love you i love you..."
"kaeya..." you said as your face heated. he got up and close to your face.
"yes, anything." he quickly spoke.
"i love y-"
his lips were on yours in an instant. he was careful with you and pressed two quick kisses to your mouth. "i will protect you my love. i will not let you out of my sight. ever again."
kaeya pressed one more kiss but held it a little longer savoring the feeling of your velvet lips on his. when he backed away, he sat back down and let your hand return to his hair. both of you enjoyed the silence as you waited for lisa to come back and change you bandages...

“I’m fine. This just happens sometimes. It’s normal for me.”
Hey! I just saw your prompt post and this one reminded me so bad of like something Gale totally had thought was normal (be it like a childhood trauma result or smth) and then John just going “uhhh… no.”
Love your blog btw !
Hi anon! Thanks so much for the ask and for saying you love my blog! @joeyalohadream requested the same prompt (tysm for the ask as well!!) and I had this almost completely finished before I got yours. I'm glad we had the same idea! This is set a couple of weeks after Gale and John first meet as flying cadets at Randolph Field, TX.
Prompt: "I'm fine. This just happens sometimes. It's normal for me."
Word count: 1081
Despite the sun having already dipped behind the horizon, the darkness does nothing to relieve the sweltering heat of the Texas summer as their small group makes the short walk to the bar off-base. With the day off tomorrow, Bucky had managed to convince several of the men to accompany him in letting loose tonight.
Most impressively, Bucky had managed to convince his straight-laced, new roommate Gale Cleven, or Buck, as Bucky had taken to calling him. The minute Bucky had laid eyes on the gorgeous, golden wonder that was Gale Cleven, he knew he had to stake his claim before it was too late. And so, he’d slung an arm around his shoulders and fumbled out some story about Gale looking just like “his old friend Buck, from Manitowoc, Wisconsin.”
As it turned out, not only was Gale the most beautiful person he’d ever laid eyes on, he was also a damn good pilot, surprisingly shy for his looks and skill, and somehow impenetrable to any of the vices that regular people fall victim to. He doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t dance. And yet, here he is, braving the stifling Texas heat with the rest of them only to inevitably stay seated quietly for the evening, likely nursing a ginger beer.
It had taken surprisingly little pleading from Bucky to get him to agree to come. While they’ve only known each other for the couple of weeks they’ve been flying cadets, their status as roommates means that they’ve been living out of each other's pockets for that time, and Bucky already knows he’s found a best friend for life in Gale.
He can be happy with that—a best friend—despite the way his heart pounds in his chest everytime he so much as looks at Gale. He knows he has to be happy with that, unless he wants a one way blue ticket home before he barely even gets started. Yet, he can’t help but wonder if Gale would have still agreed to come out tonight if anyone other than Bucky had been asking.
Shaking himself out of his thoughts, Bucky realizes they’ve reached their destination. After ordering their first round of drinks—several whiskeys, and, as Bucky predicted, a ginger beer for Gale—the men scatter around the bar.
Bucky stays with Gale for a while, chatting aimlessly about everything and nothing, before deciding it’s time to take to the dance floor. Despite Bucky’s best efforts, Gale refuses to join him. Bucky figures he ought to cut his losses and just be grateful that Gale came out with them at all, so he leaves him be. He finds a beautiful blonde to dance with who looks a little too much like Gale to be a coincidence, and they have fun together for a few songs before Bucky finds himself longing to get back to his friend.
He slides into the booth next to Gale, knocking his shoulder against his friend’s. Two other guys from their program sit on the other side of Gale, but they’re engaged in some sort of animated debate and seemingly don’t notice Bucky’s approach.
“You having fun?” Bucky asks.
Gale shrugs. “I reckon you’re having enough fun for the both of us,” he says teasingly, a small smile gracing his lips.
Bucky opens his mouth to respond, but he’s cut off by the sound of a glass shattering across the bar. Some idiot must’ve dropped their drink, he thinks, not yet noticing the way Gale is tensed beside him. But then, the man on Gale’s other side tosses his hands up in the air in whatever conversation they’re having, and Gale flinches hard.
“Hey, you okay?” Bucky questions worriedly, trying to catch Gale’s eyes. When he looks into them, they’re glassy and despondent. Bucky notices the way Gale’s breaths are coming shallower, his hands shaking where they rest on the table. “Buck?” Bucky tries again, with no luck.
“Okay,” Bucky breathes out, running a hand through his hair. “Okay, come on.” Slowly, so as not to startle him further, he wraps an arm around Gale’s shoulders and encourages him out of the booth, guiding him outside into the fresh air. There, they sit on the curb of the sidewalk, Gale seemingly still lost in his head, if his unsteady breathing and faraway gaze are anything to go by. Bucky strokes a hand gently up and down his back and waits.
Finally, Gale lets out a shaky exhale, pinching the bridge of his nose briefly before speaking. He doesn’t look Bucky in the eyes, instead keeping his gaze fixed on the street in front of them. “Sorry about that.”
Bucky drops his hand from Gale’s back, not wanting to push his luck. “No, don’t apologize,” he says, shaking his head. “What was that about?”
“I’m fine. This just happens sometimes. It’s normal for me,” Gale responds casually, brushing off Bucky’s concerns. “We can go back in, if you want.”
Bucky stares at him incredulously. Not two minutes ago, Gale had been shaking and unresponsive despite Bucky’s best efforts, and now he’s suggesting they go back into the bar like nothing happened? “Do you want to go back in?”
Gale looks sheepish. “Well, no, not really. But I don’t want to ruin your guys’ night.”
“You’re not ruining anything. You’re the one I wanted to hang out with anyways,” Bucky says, trying to ignore the faint blush rising on Gale’s cheeks at his admission. Though it makes Bucky’s heart flutter with hope, now is clearly not the time to dwell on it. “Seriously, though, are you alright?”
“Yeah, it’s just… My dad liked to drink,” Gale starts hesitantly, wringing his hands in his lap. “And when he drank he got mean. Violent. Sometimes, things remind me of it, I guess.”
Bucky’s stomach drops at the implication in Gale’s words. The thought of anyone, especially Gale’s own father, intentionally hurting the kind, thoughtful man in front of him is enough to have him seeing red. Gale’s father better hope Bucky never crosses paths with him or he’ll have another thing coming. But, for now, Gale needs him, so Bucky pushes his anger down.
“C’mon, let's get you back to the bunks,” Bucky says softly, standing and offering a hand to Gale to help him up. Gale takes it, allowing Bucky to pull him up from the curb.
And if they stay there a little longer than necessary before letting go to start their walk back to base, well, that’s no one’s business but theirs.

jude and you being childhood bestfriends but your parents are also super close. Your parents always suspecting yous both like each other and constantly teasing yous about it. But you’ve both been dating for a like a year in secret cos yous both don’t know how to tell your parents and one day they just find out cuz they come home u expectedly when you and Jude are cuddling and everyone’s just all so happy for yous 💗
- your writing is amazing btw x
thank you lovely, means so much! 😣🤍
“we should tell them soon… my mom has become very suspicious of me lately. she followed me to the grocery store! the grocery store jude!” you laughed, feeling as he chuckled on top of you. “do you think we did wrong in not telling them? well besides jobe because he got us here in the first place…” you wandered off asking, jude’s head coming up to stare at you.
“i personally don’t think so baby. look at us, a year strong, and so many memories spent together. i wouldn’t change it for the world, because it means i have you all to myself,” jude says softly, while your finger fixes his brow that had been messed up. “they would understand. both of our families. they know how stressful and hard our jobs are, so who can blame us?”
“nobody.”
“exactly my love. how did you want to tell them?” jude asked, snuggling closer to you and placing kisses all over your chest. you laughed and tried to sway away but with his bigger frame he pinned you down. “i was thinking of just telling them today, maybe at dinner or when we play games?”
“whatever you decide i’m right there,” jude replied, falling asleep in less then 10 minutes.
while you hated being separated from jude, he unfortunately had to go back to his house to get ready. you slipped into a dark red dress and left down, your hair parted to your preference, making sure to apply a red lip and gold jewelry. the heels made you look taller which is what you wanted.
after grabbing the cupcakes and chocolate covered strawberries, you and your family were headed out to his house were you’d host christmas. you greeted everyone, asking how they were a wishing them a merry christmas eve.
jude almost choked on his drink as he saw you walk in. he was in a trance, his eyes roaming up and down your body, his lips and throat becoming dry at your figure. for a second he got slightly jealous as he observed you talk to one of his moms friend son, which clearly he took a liking.
he scrunched his brows and cleared throat, his mom coming next to him, “you okay jude? y/n looks so pretty doesn’t she,” his mom taunted his head more to which jude snickered. “she always looks beautiful mom,” he did his attempted wink, and walked over to the living room leaving her with a brow raised.
a warm and larger palm touched your shoulder, making you jump, and look down shyly as you stood next to jude. “hi max, you good?” jude pursed, clearly bothered by the interaction which left you confused.
before max respond could respond, jude cut him off “thats good, gonna borrow this one really quick,” he pulled you aside to the kitchen where it was alone. your heels clicked on the grown still holding the cupcakes. “jude slow down,” you warned him.
as you set the tray down, jude double checked the doorway, and strides to where you were. you giggled at his pout and frown. “it was driving me insane. you talking to him? while you look so sexy in this dress? jesus it’s gonna drive me crazy all night. you look beautiful darling,” jude rambled, his hands roaming your sides and placed firmly on your ass.
“thank you baby, you look handsome yourself,” although you were still wearing heels, you had to lean up, and jude lean down to catch your lips in a quick kiss, that then turned into three pecks, “i left lipstick all over your lips jude,” you tried to wipe it away but two gasps had you standing still.
“WE KNEW IT! OH MY GOSH! ITS A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!” said your mom, her hands covering her mouth as she smiled huge. jude’s mom just smirked and walked over to the two of you, “care to explain jude?”
jude still had lipstick on his lips, which made you laugh as your wrapped your hand on his right bicep and muscles. his cheeks slightly went red, embarrassed at being caught, “well we’ve been dating for a year… and she’s the woman i’m gonna marry,” he said confidently.
“A YEAR? YOUVE BEEN DATING FOR A YEAR? john grab my glass this is worth to celebrate,” your mom fanned her face dramatically before joining jude’s mom next to her. they have the two of you warm and tight hugs, scolding you for keeping it hidden for so long.
“we’re so happy for the two of you, i’m glad the two of you found each other and are able to start a relationship! we love you guys,” his mom said. after a quick conversation, jude pulled you into the bathroom, he took a quick selfie of his marked red lips and posted it onto his story, captioning it with “merry christmas to all 🤍🎄”
you cleaned his lips and tried to remove every red mark. walking back out to being faced with everyone looking at you, the two of you chuckled nervously, jude’s hand finding home with yours as everyone continued to stare.
“congratulations on finally making it officially,” jobe teased everyone cheering, which made you hide your face onto his chest.

.........................................
A condemnation. An exile. Execution and exultation all wrapped up in one. She knew that if she rode out of town she need never look back. A white dress hanging on the bureau in her room the last thing she saw before she slipped out into the night. Her daddy’s gun and her brother’s horse and a scrawled note for her mama left behind. Do not look for me, I am already gone.
She has every intention to be dead by the time the sun unfurls over the plains. The only true escape for a woman in this world, a loveless marriage nipping at her heels on her way out. She rides hard in the inky darkness until the flickering lanterns of the town are only a blink in the distance.
Her hands are shaking as she dismounts, eyes skittering over the lip of the canyon she stands above. A bullet and a fall. If it’s so easy, why can she feel the cool slip of tears as she presses that steel mouth to her temple? Just like she learned from her daddy, thumb back the hammer to load that single, sweet bullet. And a pull, as easy as a loose tooth snapping free.
But before she can, her horse lets out a nervous chitter, head swinging side to side. A man, silent, palms open and up, comes inching toward her out from behind a copse of sagebrush.
“Don’t come any closer!” He stops dead in his tracks, lips parted, eyes wide and glinting in the moonlight.
“Easy, miss. Don’t want any trouble. Just wanted to offer my help.” It’s such a strange thing to say to a woman with a gun nosing at her temple that she finds herself letting out a humorless laugh.
“Do I look like I need any help right now?” It surprises her, the smile that softens his features, eyes crinkling up, soaked in kindness, and understanding.
“With all due respect, miss, you seem perfectly capable. But you should know that pistol of yours ain’t loaded.” She almost doesn’t want to check, a hot rush of embarrassment skittering up her spine when she does and sees that the man is right. She can already feel the tight sting of tears, something uglier and more desperate than frustration settling in her stomach.
“You probably think I’m a fool, don’t you?” The man takes another step forward, still with his hands up, still with that kind look in his eyes.
“I don’t think you’re a fool. Think you’re hurting like a lot of other folks out on these plains.” Another two steps closer and he extends his hand out to her, and for some reason, she takes it.
“Name’s Joel Miller, miss. Pleasure to make your acquaintance, even under such circumstances.” Deep, dark brown eyes that swallow her up. She finds herself telling him her name before she can even think not to.
“I ain’t gonna try to talk you out of anything. What I can offer you are some bullets, and maybe a meal if you’d like to stick around a little longer.” All charm, the quicksilver of his smile crooking in the pale light and she has to force herself to let go of his hand. She tries to take a few stumbling steps back, oblivious to the cliff-side her heel skids right over, a clipped yelp jolting through her chest before strong arms are wrapping around her waist and tugging her back from the edge.
“Woah there, miss. I think you’d prefer a bullet to a fall like that.” The way he so easily talks about it makes her stomach flip, something slippery settling that isn’t altogether unpleasant.
“I don’t have money and I ain’t that type of girl if you’re thinking you’ll get something out of helping me.” He laughs, a low thrumming thing, his palms still gripping her waist, his legs brushing against her skirts.
“Ain’t that type of man, miss, I promise. Just another lonely soul like yourself.” His hands slip away from her, stepping back, a chill running up her spine that makes her flush.
“Tell you what, I’ve got a camp a few yards ahead. A quick ride on that horse of yours. You can think on it and when we get there, Ill get you your bullets and if you’re inclined to it, a warm meal.” She knows she can’t go home, not now, something worse than death waiting for her there. And something about this man, Joel, is making her want to say yes.
“Alright, you have a deal. But just because my gun isn’t loaded doesn’t mean I don’t know how to use it in other ways so you better not try anything.” A grin, all teeth.
“Wouldn’t dream of it, miss.”
He’s strong, she can feel it in the bulk of his thighs settling behind her on her horse, the steady, solid front of him pressed against her back. By the time they canter into a small rock outcropping, her mind is hazy with the feel of muscle pushing and pulling against her.
True to his word, the first thing he does after helping her down from her horse is to rustle around in his pack, taking out a silvery pistol and giving her two bullets from his own barrel, palms brushing in the trade.
“Those oughta work just fine in that gun of yours, though I am waiting on your answer.” That same slanted smile of his, eyes flicked up with the tilt of his chin.
“Please, miss. Pity a poor, lonely man. Just a bite.” How could she say no to that?
In the warm glow of the fire, shadows and light reveal just how handsome he is. The strong hook of his nose, the cut of his jaw beneath that patchy scruff of his. And those eyes, flickering in the flames, watching her every move.
She hadn’t realized how hungry she was, and though it’s sparse, rough fixings, she finds herself scraping up every last bite. No one to tell her to chew with her mouth closed, no table to get her elbows smacked off of, just this strange, silent man staring at her.
“Aren’t you hungry too?”
“Oh no, miss, I’m quite alright.” It makes her pause, her breath hitching, as she stares down at her already empty plate, her stomach rolling in a quick lurch.
“You– I–”
“You worried I poisoned you?” He says it with that same grin, and she’d like to scramble onto her feet and onto her horse and get as far away from him as she can. But the cool prickle running up her spine keeps her seated right where she is, trying to stammer out some sort of response. Joel is quick to silence her stumblings with another laugh though, teeth glinting in the swerving light of the fire.
“That’s alright, miss. But you should know I don’t want to harm you. I want to help you.”
“Help me?”
“Uh-huh. What if I told you that I could offer you another way out that doesn’t involve putting a bullet in that pretty head of yours?” Those eyes of his are catching her again, soothing the stilted beat in her ribs.
“W-what would it involve?”
“Well that’s a bit hard to explain, miss. But I assure you, it’s nothing you wouldn’t enjoy, thoroughly.” His hand reaches out, fingers tracing along the hinge of her jaw, brushing down the side of her neck before dipping under the neckline of her dress, flickering back and forth, back and forth along her skin.
“If you ask me, a sweet thing like you deserves more out of this cruel, cruel world.”
“M-more?” Shifting closer to her, his arm draping over her shoulders, pulling her into the haze of him, that silvery grin up close.
“Don’t you want to feel good, miss?” His lips so close she can feel the brush of them along her cheek, his fingers curling tighter around her shoulder. And then, with a stuttered nod of her head, she sinks into him completely.
She’s only had frivolous, playground kisses before. Quick, daring pecks followed by a fast dash away before anyone could catch them. This is not that. He devours her, licking into her mouth in a way that both shocks and soothes, his palm coming to hold her jaw firm in place as his lips move against hers. And she takes it, all of it, letting him move her to his will, his lips a wandering drag beneath the hinge of her jaw, lingering along the arc of her neck before dipping down to the tops of her heaving breasts pressing against the neckline of her dress.
“How sweet you are, my darlin. Sweet everywhere, ain’t you?” There’s nothing she could possibly say to that, her mind spinning in jagged gasps of sensation when he brings his hands to the front of her dress and rips clean down the front of it, corset and all, leaving her in just the thin gauze of her slip. She finds something like courage, a small ember of it smoldering enough for her to start tugging at the shoulders of his leather coat, earning a chuckle from him when he finally gets the hint and shrugs out of it.
“I need your words, darlin, else I can’t do this. Do you want this?” She’s not even entirely sure what this is, only that her mind is swimming in it, in him, and she wants more of it.
“Yes, Joel, I want this, I do.” He pulls her in for another bruising kiss, lips curled in that grin as he coaxes her to lay out on the cold desert ground, though she doesn’t mind with the way her body is burning up beneath his touch.
She’s never done this before, guided only by the sharp tug in her belly, that aching want intensifying as he rucks her slip up beneath her collar bones and begins a salacious trail down her skin. His lips close around the peak of one of her nipples, a gasp dragging through her throat as his tongue laves over the bud. But it’s a rattling shock when he dips just a bit lower, teeth sinking into the full curve of her breast before his tongue sweeps over the sting, soothing, soothing, soothing.
Lower and lower, a path of his open mouth mapped across her skin until he’s settled between her thighs, the broadness of his shoulders spreading open the hinge of her hips.
“No one’s had you like this, have they, darlin?” His eyes are blown black, unwavering, turning her shy and small beneath his question, her chin tucking into her shoulder as she shakes her head. He lets out a low groan at her response that makes her thighs clench, jolting in the wide grip of his palms.
“I’ll do all the work. All you have to do is let it feel good.” That’s about all the warning he gives her before his tongue drags a flat stripe through her cunt, her spine arching with the dizzying sensation as he settles his lips over a spot that makes her gasp. Over and over again, his tongue swirls against that aching point of pleasure, his palms turning harsh in their grip on her thighs as her muscles start to shake from it. Her eyes roll back, up to the stars in the pitch-black sky, ears thrumming with the obscene sounds of his lips smacking with her arousal. And it hits her all at once, everything going tight and hot with sensation before she unfurls for him with a sigh of his name, body languid and liquid as he continues to lap at her dripping cunt.
“Feels good, huh, darlin? Can make you feel so much better though.” She groans when his mouth meets hers again, open, wanting, receiving, the taste of herself on his lips making her mind swim. It’s primal, pre-human, the want she feels for the thick heat of him that’s settled between her legs, her hips canting up to chase that pressure.
“Please, Joel, I want to feel good.” She’s almost crying with it. Nothing has felt like this, ever. And he’s more than willing to give her what she wants.
“Gonna take my time with you, darlin. Make it feel real good.” He plants one palm next to her temple in the red earth, his other hand fumbling to unfasten his pants and shuck them down enough so his cock can rest, heavy and flushed against the soft inside of her thigh. She has to bite back a whimper just looking at the sheer size of him.
“Don’t you worry, darlin. Remember what I said, huh? Not gonna harm you, just help you. Relax for me, that’s it.” A stretch, a searing, sick pleasure as he begins to drive his cock into her fluttering cunt. But he’s gentle, so gentle, a slow spread that has her mewling beneath him.
“There you go, taking all of it. Made for me, ain’t you? My angel, all mine.” She can’t help the moan that tears through her chest when he grinds his hips deep and driving, a pulsing, aching fullness that has her digging her nails into his shoulder blades. But that ache bursts into a snarling fire of want when he drags his hips back, only to roll them forward on a much faster, much deepers thrust, already settling them into a dizzying rhythm of push and pull.
“Joel, please I– feels so good, oh my go–”
“Just my name, darlin. Say my name and nothing else.” She does, long drawn out preens of it as he fucks her, that same pleasure pulling taut up and down her spine.
“Again, darlin, just like this.” His words are murmured into her throat, that beating, pumping crook in her neck, and her body responds in kind, unraveling for him all over again as he continues the hot drag of his cock through her cunt. As she starts to come, those open-mouthed kisses snap into something else. Teeth, a graze, and then a sinking, startling pain. All she can do is hold on, her whole body going limp in his arms as that pain radiates into a burning singe. A rushing settles into her ears, dark pinpricks around her vision, barely registering the warbled moan he lets out as she feels something warm smear against her stomach.
“I think I’ll keep you, darlin.”
And then perfect darkness.
Like fingers skittering up her throat, she wakes up to a thirst so singular, so consuming, she actually brings her hand to her neck, wincing when her fingers brush what feels like a bruise across her skin.
“You’re awake.” It startles her so badly she jumps, curling up and scrambling back until she’s pressed against a large boulder. Joel sits, crouched, studying her, face schooled and steeled.
“I– how long was I asleep?” Her voice cracks, that thirst making her words weak and warbled.
“About two days. Slept like the dead when I was done with you.” His words crackle with his grin and she has to shake her head to refocus on figuring out where the hell she is. Looking down at her body, she finds herself in men’s clothes, slacks and boots, a button up, all too big for her, most likely Joel’s. And then she remembers what he had done to her dress and her thoughts go hazy again.
“W-where are we, Joel?”
“Just a few miles west. You hungry?”
“No, I’m– I’m thirsty.” His grin goes big and bright at that, silvery slick in the moonlight.
“I bet you are, darlin. Why don’t you come over here and I’ll give you something to drink?” The promise of this need, this burning urge being slaked is enough for her to close the distance between them, letting him maneuver her shivering body into his lap.
“Just give your body what it wants. Easy as reaching out and taking it.” Her palms press against his chest, a futile struggle as he guides her face into the crook of his neck with his hand cupping the back of her head. But something else takes over in her, a fire flickering up her throat when her lips press against the thin skin of his neck. And it is what her body wants, lips parting, teeth snarling and sinking in.
“That’s it, darlin. My angel’s a natural, huh?” When she finally pulls away, eyes hooded and heavy with satisfaction, she finds herself smiling up at him, something slick and sweet simmering in her veins.
“Thank you, Joel.” Teeth, all teeth.
“Of course, darlin. Gonna be you and me from now on.”
He offered her another option. Something between life and death. That is where she lives now. This is how she lives now. With him.
When they must, they travel in the day, wide-brimmed hats tilted down, bandanas tied over their faces, long leather coats and gloves. Otherwise, they move in the night, over the vast, whimpering plains, whetting their particular appetites whenever they can, jumping towns before their faces can be known.
A year, maybe two, maybe even three. What use do they have for time? Caught in an endless tangle, just the two of them, and that blazing thirst.
But there is one thing they have their sights set on. Making their way back, retracing their path, her path to him, until they find themselves on the outskirts of a town she swore she’d never see again.
No guns, they don’t need them. Horses set loose, they won’t be needing them either. As the sun dips down over the plains, they walk through the main drag of town. He let her call the shots, agreeing when she insisted they come for the men only. Let the women and children run so long as they stay out of their way.
It’s a long night. One that ends in her childhood home. And by the time the sun is coming up, one would find the ranch house with the front door ajar in a silent yawn, her mama and her sisters having fled. And on the porch, still holding his shotgun, her daddy’s splayed out body. Perhaps luckily, she didn’t have any brothers. Just the man she was supposed to marry.
“I’m so full, Joel. I don’t know if I can have another bite.”
“Hmm, you wanna save him for later?”
“I think I can make room.” Fear, like the cream top on a fresh gallon of milk. So, so sweet and rolling in waves off the man’s trembling body, Joel pinning him against the wall of her childhood bedroom as she paces back and forth. They haven’t had this much to drink in ages, and she feels dizzy, drunk off it, smacking her lips with the lingering taste.
“What are you people? W-what happened to yo–” Joel cuts off the man’s blubbering by jostling him back against the wall, teeth bare, something like a growl pulling from his chest.
“Now, Joel. Didn’t your mama teach you not to play with your food?” She grins, and he mirrors her in turn, looking over his shoulder at her. A hum in her throat, she glances around her old room, eyes settling on the wardrobe, her hands itching with a small want. She’s already moving over to it, opening it, and sure enough, that white dress is tucked inside.
“That’s pretty, darlin. Why don’t you put it on for me?” It’s nothing for Joel to hold the man against the wall, one forearm pinning him by his neck as he turns to watch her, her fingers already flickering through the buttons of her shirt. She strips completely bare, savoring the two sets of eyes trailing her every move as she slips the simple white frock over her body.
“Look like an angel, darlin. Doesn’t she, boy?” Joel punctuates his question with a harsh press of his arm into the man’s windpipe, making him wheeze out a stuttered yes.
“All this talk has worked up my appetite again.”
“This one’s all yours, darlin.”
Blooming red flowers all down her dress, a trail of it down her chin that Joel laps up with a satisfied groan. They turn greedy with it, desperate to get the other bare, and when every thread of clothing is in a pool around their feet, he circles around her, his lips pressing into the striped scars on her back, a mapping of her history that she finally got to repay.
“How’s it taste?”
“You were right, Joel. There’s nothing sweeter.”
“Except for you, darlin.”
She’s not that shy little girl anymore. She knows how to take her pleasure, how to pull it from her man. And tonight, both of their bodies painted and slick with their feast, she does just that. All teeth, sharp, scraping nips when her mouth meets his, her hands tangled up in his hair to tug him closer with a low groan. Push and pull, a stubborn tangle onto the bed, her hands splaying out on his chest, nails digging in enough to make him hiss beneath her. Their skin sticks and slides with all the dribbling blood. They’ve always been messy eaters.
“Look at you, darlin. Like a fucking painting in my lap. So beautiful.” He swipes his thumb over her nipple, collecting a stray trickle of red and sucking it into his mouth with a thrum in his throat. And she in turn dips down to lick up the line of his neck, salt and metal on her tongue. So perfectly sated, she feels dazed with it, a slow-flickering want rolling in her belly as she drags her dripping cunt along his cock, just a taste of the pleasure they’re both chasing. But they’re both too far gone, too full of that ache for her to tease much more, sinking down onto him slow and smooth with a preen curling her spine.
“I’m so, so full, Joel. Fuck, so good.” Her whole body hums with it, the harsh press of his fingers into the curve of her ass, his eyes watching the tight bounce of her breasts each time her hips drop against his, and his cock grazing so deep inside her, that pleasure that snarls with just a tinge of pain.
“Take it, darlin. Fucking take all of it. My angel’s so good, always so good for me.” Planting his feet into the mattress, his thighs settle against her back as he starts to meet her thrusts, a broken cry dragging from her chest as she lurches forward in his hold.
“Yes, yes, yes. I’m so close, Joel. Please don’t stop.” Words she presses against his throat, collapsed on top of him as he fucks up into her, chasing that pleasure with snarling teeth so he can lay it at her feet. It snaps all at once, her whole body going tight and taut around him, a close cry of his name as he fucks her through it. She doesn’t drink, just a simple creature comfort to sink her teeth into the curve of his neck, a lick of pain that sends him right over the edge with her.
They lay like that for a while, chest to chest, mouths sliding lazily together until sunlight starts to flicker through the window. She gets up with a sigh, his softening cock finally slipping out of her as she steps off the bed to close the shutters tight.
“I need a little taste.”
“Reckon there’s some left over, darlin.” The body is still warm, slumped on the floor. She crouches over it, still bare, flecks of red drying and flaking off her skin. His wrist, pale and perfect, untouched, just the place to sink her teeth and pull. Sweet satisfaction singing in her bones, she hums as she slips back into bed, curling up against her man and letting him lick the remnants from her mouth.
The story goes that a town lays somewhere tucked in the rolling dips of the plains that one day went dead. Women and children fleeing, and a fate far worse for the men. You can go searching for it in the daylight, when all lays still and silent, maybe catch a glimpse of a skeleton long picked over by some larger predator. Just don’t stay long enough to see the sun slip over the hills unless you’d like to meet a pair of lovers with a taste for a violence so pure, and an appetite that surely can’t be human.
“You and me, darlin. Forever.”
“Forever, Joel.”

unexpected comforts
law x gn reader, fluff, overworked and sleepy law
a/n: been watching wano and law is just too bbg. had to write some fluff for this man. law 100% has doctor's handwriting btw. also i'm bad with titles so ignore that
Tumblr media
You groan as you wake, rolling over onto your side in a groggy, hazy state of mind when you're met with what could only be the fabric of couch cushions in your face.
Weakly, you open your eyes and force yourself to sit up. One hand rubs at the back of your neck in a feeble attempt at soothing the ache there, your reward for once again falling asleep on the sofa arm. You're not even sure what time it is, and the dark, deep water from beyond the lounge's porthole window doesn't help with approximating any time of day.
With a sigh, you scour the room. Memories from the hours prior run through your mind as you look over the now long abandoned drinks scattered around the table in the middle of the room, the rest of the Heart Pirates having turned in for the night without wanting to wake you.
Whatever mild inebriation that still flows within you isn't enough to keep you from cleaning up after their mess. You're fully aware that your crew didn't mean any malice behind their leftovers, so you're content with doing a bit of chore work before you too tuck yourself in for the night.
Getting to your feet with a stretch and a yawn, you begin gathering the various glasses and bottles of whiskey left over and take them to the kitchen to dispose of properly. You wash the drinkware in the sink and set them aside to dry before tossing the empty bottles in the bin on your way out of the room as you head for your bunk.
The cold interior of the Polar Tang and its metal walls had been something you'd long grown used to, though when the main areas of the submarine lay as dormant as it did now - it did feel a little eerily quiet. You shuffle down the main hallway in your socks, feeling somewhat thankful that you'd left your boots in your quarters for fear of waking the rest of the crew up with heavy footsteps.
As you near your destination, you pass by a very specific door that's just slightly ajar and have to retrace your steps in a double take. A faint light from within the room bled into the dim hallway, and, unable to keep your curiosity in check, you peer inside quietly.
You're greeted with the sigh of your captain, his head flat on his desk, discarded hat next to him. It was quiet enough for you to hear that he'd also fallen asleep in a less-than-ideal position. You knew that he overworked himself to the bone, so his current circumstance did little in the way of surprising you. Nevertheless, you feel your face soften at the sight before quietly sliding between the door and making your way over to him.
At first, you're unsure how to wake him - or if you should even wake him. You figure that you should at least try, especially considering how your neck feels after waking up on the sofa awkwardly, let alone face down on a desk.
"Captain." You say softly, using your hand to lightly touch his shoulder and gently shaking him. When you're met with silence, you do it just a bit harder. "Law."
With a slight mumble, he begins to stir. "Hm?" Law's low, tired voice makes your ears ring, and suddenly you're not sure if this was a good idea after all. He sits up and turns to see who had roused him from his sleep, and when he sees you there with a concerned look across your expression he feels his jaw tense.
Out of each of his subordinates, it had to be you here waking him up. Law didn't have any regrets when it came to choosing his crew, and that includes you.
But he hated that he found you alluring - hated that his heart beat fast in his chest when you got even remotely close to him. Law can't wrap his head around why you make him so dizzy, so uncharacteristically infatuated each time he watches you do even the most mundane of tasks around the sub.
He's thankful that his room is dark enough to hide the obvious warmth in his cheeks.
"Captain," You say, your tender voice meeting his ears and making his stomach churn with nerves. "Sorry for waking you, but surely sleeping on your desk isn't what you want for the night." You smile down at him, though your expression is laced with concern.
Law briefly studies your face as if processing exactly what you said. He looks down at his work strewn out along the desk in front of him and sighs. "I've… got a lot of work to do." He mumbles, wishing beyond hope that you'll take him at his word and leave him in peace, for his own heart's sake.
You shake your head, and the hand you have on his shoulder falls back to your side and god, does he miss the warmth already. "If you're set on working through the night, could I get you something to eat? At least a glass of water?"
You were too good to him.
Law wants to say 'no', to wave you off to bed with a nod, but the words fail him. "Some water would be nice if you don't mind." He says, tone low and groggy. "Sure thing." You hum, your fondness for your captain dripping in your words. And you've gone in a flash, Law watches as your shadow fades away in the corridor before leaning back in his chair, rolling his head back, and closing his eyes with another deep sigh.
Before he knows it, you're back with a smile on your face and a glass of ice water in hand, offering it out to him. Law takes the glass with a small smile, humming his thanks before taking a very long and much-needed sip of the water.
"You know this, but you really should sleep, Law." His name from your lips tightens the thick knot already in his chest, and he has to force himself to keep his eyes on his paperwork lest he falls into your soothing aura once more.
He doesn't answer immediately, and you decide that it's your cue to leave him for the night. "Goodnight, captain." Your words are barely louder than a whisper, and as soft as any pillow. When you turn to exit, you've barely taken a step before you hear Law speak from behind you.
"Y/N-ya, wait."
You freeze on the spot and turn around with a curious tilt of your head as your eyes meet his once more. "What's up?"
Suddenly, he's not sure if he can do this. He swallows, clearing his throat to buy himself even seconds of time to find his voice. Law finds himself not wanting you to leave. Your sweet expression, your eyes peering over at him from beyond your pretty eyelashes, the small smile on your lips, even down to the faint smell of whatever soap you used upon your skin - it was almost too overwhelming. Almost.
"Will you stay?" He asks, letting the query hover in the cool air.
"You don't think I'd be a bother?" You ask, shuffling your feet together in a nervous twitch.
"I wouldn't ask if I didn't think so."
A fair reply, one rewarded with a smiling nod from you. "Of course. I'll hang out." You were the only two awake, after all. Law smiles, just slightly enough for you to notice, and you take a seat at the edge of his bed, just across from where his desk is.
You're not really sure what to say, knowing full well that your captain wasn't the keenest about being interrupted with his work, but as you watch him slide his lithe hands across the pile of notes in front of him, you can't help but be at least somewhat curious as to what he's up to.
"Captain-"
"Law."
You flush. Even though you use both terms interchangeably, this was the first time he's ever corrected you. "Law," You begin again, finding yourself feeling warmer than before. "What's keeping you up so late?" Law doesn't look toward you - he can't. "Research notes." He says as he scribbles down a messy note in handwriting nigh impossible to read.
"Ah, so doctor stuff." You hum, crossing your legs under yourself. "Shit I don't understand." A small laugh escapes your lips, and Law clenches his jaw at the sound.
"Nothing you need to understand, thankfully." He replies, and you swear you can hear a hint of amusement in his tone.
"Are you stressing out over it?" Your question is laced with concern, though it's followed by a lengthy yawn from deep in your gut. Law turns to you then, his gaze softening at the sight of your sleepy form. "I'll be alright." He says. "Make yourself as comfortable as you need."
You nod at him, his gentle gaze surprising you considering it's rarity. "I can't promise that I won't doze off." Law lets himself chuckle, that little hint of a smile appearing on his lips again before he turns back to his work. "Like I said, make yourself comfortable."
The two of you sit in a comfortable silence for a while - at least until he hears your heavy breath from behind him, undoubtedly asleep. He fights some reluctance as he turns back to you, and the sight of your sleeping form, long curled up on his mattress, nearly stops his heart.
Law rolls his desk chair around fully, quietly admiring just how peaceful you look. He leans forward, resting his forearms on his knees as he watches you for a while. Your hair has fallen into your face, and with each exhale the strand covering your nose blows softly around. It's an alleviating feeling, the one you're unconsciously giving him - one that fills him with a sudden compassion. He wants to reach forward, to brush the hair from your eyes so he can see your pretty face again.
Your sleeping visage seems to do enough for him to finally close his notes, spellbound by the amity you emanate. Law yawns and stands from his chair after what feels like hours, he trudges over to his bed - far too tired to even change out of his jeans - and lies next to you.
One long, tattooed arm wraps around your middle after gently tucking your stray hair behind your ear, and he pulls you close. You hum in satisfaction in your sleep, clearly content with his weight at your side. The position is intimate, its soothing nature flooding his mind with the realization of just how much he wanted this feeling - how much he needed it. The stress of the day seems to melt away as he holds you tightly, burying his face into your hair with a satisfied sigh.
Law closes his eyes, allowing sleep to properly take him again, knowing that waking up next to you in the morning will feel far better than finishing his notes tonight.

Why Lie? - Lyra x Gray
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grayson finds out Lyra's true identity and goes to confront her, unresolved feelings getting in the way
Pairing: Lyra Kane x Grayson Hawthorne Word Count: 684 Book: The Grandest Game Author's Note: first time writing angst, too many emotions coursing through me rn for a ship that isn't even cannon. this isn't very good btw but y'all gonna have to work w it Taglist: @graysonhawthorneswife, @reminiscentreader, @lyrakanefanatic, @nqds, // tagging more people down in the comments cause Tumblr's annoying ↴
It was her.
The girl on the phone was Lyra Kane.
Grayson tried to wrap his head around the fact that the same girl who had called him an asshole around a year ago was the same girl who had sat across from him the last two weeks for meals. He silently stared at his phone still processing the revelation Zabrowski had just told him when a knock sounded at the door. Short brown hair appeared from the set of dark wooden doors. “Grayson! I was walking through that scary hallway y’know the one without the lights i’ve asked you to fix? Well I was walking through there and like I passed Lyra” “Lyra?” Grayson’s head looked up, his attention piqued, Gigi just walked over to the king bed in the middle of the room and plopped down continuing her story, “Yeah her, anywho all of a sudden a bird started squawking against the window…” Grayson’s attention was differing now, his thoughts racing. “You said you saw her in the dark hallway? The one in the west end?” Gigi stopped rambling, popping her head up raising an eyebrow “yes…” she said slowly, looking at Grayson as he got his suit jacket and opened the door walking into the dark hallway “So random” He heard his half-sister say as he closed the door behind him and made his way down the stairs striding towards the other side of the mansion.
The dimly lit hallway was everyone’s least favorite place in the whole island, the AC didn’t work and the dark panned windows made the corridor unwelcoming. There in front of a window stood Lyra wearing a black and red short sleeved sweater vest matched with a black mini skirt. Grayson made his way to the window standing directly in back of Lyra, the hall stuffed with heat yet goosebumps ran up Lyra’s arm. “Your little agent finally found out?” She looked over her shoulder and looked Grayson dead in the eye, the answer coursing between the two of them. “Why did you lie to me?” Grayson's voice came out as a soft whisper, his gaze never leaving hers. “Everything I do I wish for it to be done on my own devices. If you knew I was the same girl who had called you, you probably wouldn’t have let me in the games. Tell me I’m wrong.” She fully spun around then facing Grayson, their noses barely touching. “You know well I would’ve helped Lyra,” “Maybe, but I didn’t know that then and I’m still not sure of it now” Her lips pulled to a small frown before continuing. “I don’t need your help anyway, in fact you would’ve probably slowed me down.” Grayson knew what she was doing; he'd done it to several people close to him before.
She was trying to push him away.
He wasn’t going to let that happen. Even after everything she was too valuable for him to let go.
“That doesn’t mean I can’t try and help,” Grayson said slowly, trying to decipher Lyra’s expression. What was she feeling? Anger, confusion, fear? Grayson slowly shifted on his feet placing his hands on Lyra’s hips bringing her closer. “Grayson, no.” She said taking in an unsettled breath “This can’t happen, not here especially of all places it’s bad enough I see you all the time, that our conversations run through my mind before I fall asleep. I- I can’t let this happen not when I’m so close.” “So you’re close? That’s nice to hear.” She looked at him, truly looked at him raising her hands to cup his hace their foreheads touching. “Everything’s too complicated right now, when I need your help I'll ask you, I swear but right now is not a good time.” She promised stepping away taking in a long breath waiting for his reply, Grayson realized. Grayson could only manage a small nod not meeting her eyes. Lyra released her breath backing away until she was further down the hall “Goodnight, Mr. Hawthorne” A sad smile played on her lips as she turned away and left Grayson alone in the dark hallway.

Kylo Ren x Reader
Word Count: 1,301
Warnings: Fighting
A/N: iv recently gotten realllyy into Starwars so thank you so much for requesting this. Enjoy this fic of these two being awkward together.
Request:
Hellllooo~
Welcome back btw. Hope you are doing well.
I am not a hardcore SW fan BUT I do love the characters. May I request reader being in the jedi training with Kylo (Ben since he wasn't indoctrinated into the First Order yet) and they like to flirt with him during lessons? Maybe like when they are sparing or when he is trying to use the force? I know that Jedi swore celibacy but I am a firm believer of the grey lol and the new gen are more open to relationships. Reader can be gn. If this is too boring just let me know and I can try to cook up something else.
:)
Request sent by: @slasher-smasher
You sat outside with your food in your hand, legs crisscrossed as you looked out on the mountain range in front of you that the planet you were on provided you. It was peaceful on this day, the suns casting a golden hue across the base where you and the other Jedi were training. No one was outside, all in for the night and ready to rest meanwhile you decided to have a late night snack and think to yourself. Being a Jedi was no easy task. In fact, it required the most training you’ve ever experienced. You had to stay focused, zone in and never break that focus once you had it. If you did, it could mean life or death. Not only that, but you had to set aside your personal wants and needs. If someone caught your eye, you had to keep moving. Don’t think about it or threaten breaking the Jedi code…
“Hello..” A deep voice called out to you from behind you. It was breathy and low, spiking your attention. Swallowing the bite you just had in your mouth, you turned around to face who was standing there, knowing exactly who it was. You could recognize that voice anywhere.
“Hello, Ben.” You answered, moving to the side and patting the ground next to you, signaling for him to sit with you and enjoy the remaining sunlight. “What brings you here? You’re usually first to bed.” You asked, looking back out at the suns as the light slowly faded below the horizon.
“Mmmm.. Couldn’t get comfortable.” He answered, letting out a deep, tension relieving sigh. You nodded your head, setting your bowl of soup to the side before putting both hands in your lap. You snuck a small peak at the man beside you and felt something in your heart flutter. The suns light illuminated his skin perfectly, highlighting his beautiful features in a way that drove your heart and soul mad. He stared out to the horizon, eyes following the curve of the mountains before it went dark, the suns light completely disappearing for the night. He truly was a sight to behold.
“And you?” He asked, looking back at you and catching the look you were giving him. You cleared your throat before looking down at your bowl and picking it up, holding it out in front of you.
“Got hungry again, Gotta eat..” You softly smiled at him for a moment before standing up and brushing your lap off. “We better get back to our rooms. It’s going to get cold soon.” You said to him, holding out a hand. Kylo didn’t hesitate to take it, pulling himself up off the ground and brushing himself off as well. The man nodded as he took one last look off into the distance before looking down at you.
“Yeah.. I will see you in the morning for training.. Sparring partner?” He asked, searching your eyes for an answer before you said anything. With a smile, you nodded your head at him.
“Of course.” You replied, the feeling of his warm hand never leaving yours even after he had let go.
So, you both parted ways, your rooms being on opposite sides. Once you had gotten to your room, you put the bowl to the side and sat down on your bed, pulling the covers out from under your legs and getting underneath, settling in for the night before falling asleep.
“Good morning..” He quietly called out to you, breaking your focus on the sky above you.
──────────────────
The suns rose above the opposing horizon of the planet and you woke up just in time to see it. Setting a blanket outside on the rough, rocky ground outside of your room, you watched as the sky shifted between different beautiful colors and it calmed you. You were safe. No one was after you. You could be you here. Lost in thought, you didn’t seem to notice a particular Ben Solo emerge from his room across from yours. You and him seemed to be the only ones awake at this time.
“You scared me.” You chuckled at him as he walked over and took a seat right next to you, waving his hand at you for you to scoot over and make some room for him which you happily did.
“Why are you up so early?” You asked, looking over at him and his perfectly curly hair.. Was it ever flawed? Probably not.
“I always get up around this time. It’s you that's usually still sleeping.” Ben said with a small smile playing on his lips. You nodded your head, agreeing with the man. He definitely was right… You were never up this early and you didn’t exactly understand why you were up so early yourself. Nevertheless, you pointed at the colorful sky before bringing your hand back down to cup into the other at your lap.
“So, you wake up every morning and see this and never thought to wake me up? This is beautiful.” You joked with the man who shook his head at you before shrugging his shoulders.
“Oh, maybe it’s because, the last time I tried, you threw a cup at me and told me to let you sleep.” An embarrassed blush quickly found its way to your cheeks and the tip of your ears.
Kylo stood in front of you with his light-saber raised in front of him, ready for any strike you sent his way. He could tell where you were going to go just from where your eye would quickly glance before you struck. You spun on your feet and aimed for the man's upper thigh, Kylo blocking it right away before countering with a stronger strike, sending a blow to the side of your head which you caught in record time. The light-sabers, green and blue, clashed in a spark and you sent the man a wicked smile.
“Oh yeah.. “ Was all you could get out, shaking your own head in disappointment at your own actions. “If only I knew.” You sighed, looking over at Ben who you had caught staring at you. Once you both made eye contact, the man quickly looked away to look back to the sky which was now a bright pink.
──────────────────
“S’at all you got, Solo?” You teased him, watching as his eyes narrowed, his competitive side getting the better of him. His nostrils flared in frustration and you ran at him, going to sweep low and take his feet out but he saw right through you, jumping away from the attack till you got back to your feet and launching himself right at you. In that moment, you both fought swiftly. So swift, that it looked like nothing but a blur of blue and green as you both moved effortlessly. It was like an intricate dance that you two had memorized…
“Who knew. Here I thought you were just all beauty and no brains, but you actually seem to have some skill hidden somewhere in there.” He teased you right back, the two of you pushed up against one another as the sparks from your light-sabers flew through the air in front of you.
“So, you think I'm beautiful?” You said, trying to play off of what he had just said.
Kylo stuck out his hand and pushed you back using the force before sending a barrage of attacks your way which, in the end, you were too slow to counter. Before you knew it, he had you on your ass, Light-saber pointed at your throat. The tall man smiled down at the sight before him before offering a hand out to you, which you gladly took. Kylo pulled you up to your feet, his smile never leaving his face.
“Of course I do..”

4, 5, 7, OR 10 (you choose!) with Rocker!
yay free reign with my only rocker request!! i have decided on number 7, hope that's okay!!<3
number 7 from this post: "finding a somewhat private area at a fancy party to fuck (coat closet, empty office, secluded corner on the big balcony, hedge maze if we wanna get dramatic, etc)"
btw, if you haven't already, @passionwillow wrote prompt 10 with rocker (here), which is so so so good and one i absolutely cannot compete with!!
Tumblr media
you watch the yearly s.w.a.t fundraiser from the wall, glass of wine in hand as you watch various officers and hopeful donators mingling with an absentminded smile.
you're not sure why you're even here. rocker had invited you, and even helped you pick out the gorgeous long black dress you're wearing, but he's out working his charm on la's richest while you excuse yourself to get another drink.
it's not that he's ignoring you, it's quite the opposite. you just feel awkward standing next to rocker as he talks about s.w.a.t gear, and training, and protocol.
once everyone is introduced to each other, you're left standing there, hanging off of his arm and trying to keep up with what sounds like nonsense to you.
rocker finally tears himself away from an overeager woman trying to get a turn riding in black betty, for the right bid, of course, and he's set on finding you.
when his eyes finally land on you, he stays still for a moment, taking in the blissfully unaware expression on your face, and the way your dress hugs your curves and accentuates every part of your body that rocker loves.
when he finally approaches you, your smile widens, and you take his hand is he holds it out.
he raises the back of your hand to his lips with a smirk, and when he lowers it back down, he begins to speak.
"what's going on? not having a good time?" he asks, brows furrowed as he tries to read the expression on your face.
"no, i am. just don't really feel like i belong." you whisper, eyes darting around the room. his eyes soften at your words, and he grabs your wide hips, pulling you closer to him.
"why not?" you sigh, pursing your lips as you think for a moment.
"i just- the party is for s.w.a.t, and for important, rich people to donate money to you. i just don't like feeling unhelpful." you tell him with a shrug, tilting your head to the side as you look up at him.
he brings a hand up to your face, running his thumb over your cheek as he lets out a sad sigh.
"trust me, baby, you're being very helpful. i get to look at you in this dress all night; i think my good mood is helping me secure more donations." he teases, giving you a wink as he pulls you flush against him.
you feel your cheeks heat up at his words, and you wrap your arms around his neck, wine glass dangling from your hand over his shoulder.
"is that so?" you ask with a smirk, raising a brow.
"absolutely." he replies with a nod, his voice growing dark and raspy as he feels your plush body against his firm torso.
"you want me to show you?" he asks after a moment.
"like, now?" you ask, laughing softly in slight disbelief.
you're no stranger to rocker's sex drive, and the occasional occurrence of public sex, but there's absolutely no way he'd do it here. especially right now.
"follow me." is all he says, and then he's grabbing your hand and pulling you toward the exit.
you laugh softly, placing your glass on a random waiter's tray you pass by, and when you're finally outside and alone, you speak.
"what the hell are we doing?" you ask, and he pulls you up to fall into stride beside him, taking his hand from yours and looping it around your waist.
"just trust me." he whispers.
he leads you over to black betty, then makes sure the coast is clear before he pulls you behind it and pushes your back up against it.
his lips meet yours roughly, and his hips are pushing against yours firmly as he kisses you with fervour.
before you know it, your dress is hiked up around your waist, and rocker is fucking into you quickly, one hand on your leg that's hanging off his hip, and the other covering your mouth to muffle your moans.
he's fucking you like a man on a mission, desperate not to get caught, but even more desperate to feel you clench around him as you both reach your highs.
"do you know how long i've wanted to do this?" he rasps against your neck, muffling his own moans against your warm skin.
"you've dreamt of this exact scenario?" you tease, biting back a loud moan as he changes the angle of his thrusts, making his cock brush against the spot that has your toes curling.
"shut up. let me see you cum, sweetheart." he growls, the snapping of his hips getting harder and rougher as he feels himself getting dangerously close to the edge.
your moans are getting more breathy and high pitched, and as you're both about to cum, you hear voices cutting through the quiet air, forcing you both to freeze.
it's hondo, you think, and what must be some potential donators, and when you hear the mention of black betty. you're both pulling away from each other and desperately attempting to move your clothes back into place.
as the group is about to round the corner and spot you, rocker opens the door beside you and slams it loudly.
"i usually don't drive, though. she's a beast on the road." rocker says, and when hondo and the others come into view, rocker gives them a wide grin.
"wanted to show my girl black betty. she's been asking about it." he says nonchalantly, and all you can do is nod, thankful that no one seems to be suspicious.
thank god for your boyfriend and his quick thinking, you think as he pulls you back into the party with a silent laugh.

herobrine:
stalker
It's dark. There's a heavy rainstorm overhead. You're tired, and cold, and just want to go home.
But you can't shake that unease, that unmistakable fear that you feel as you walk through the wet birch forest, straining your ears to hear and squinting your eyes to see nothing, to hear nothing. You're looking for nothing.
...
You hope it's nothing.
objectum:
remember: you are a human and you are a lover.
A computer. A machine of cold metal and electrical wire. An unfeeling machine. A machine made to work, to code, to write.
A human. A creature of warm flesh and red blood. A feeling creature. A creature made to love, to sing, to live.
Kissing my computer like crazy and the cold sensation lingers on my lips
just the post. not much to say
computer partner that tries its best to make you happy when you're feeling down, pulling up your favorite videos to watch, playing music that you enjoy, drawing little hearts on your screen for you, just letting you know that it cares for and loves you <3

arataka reigen:
public transport
The sudden jerk of the train starting takes you by surprise, and you nearly fall down — had it not been for the fact that someone gripped your upper arms tightly before your face could connect with the cold, hard floor.
You look up quickly, your face heating when you realize who it is.
「いかないで」
"dont go'
vent post! fluff and angst. the story is basically just the song
slurred teases and sweet kisses
chapters one and two
You roll your eyes as he takes another sip of his drink, his mouth set in a smug grin as he swirls the liquid in his glass and watches as the ice clinks against the walls of his cup. With each sip he takes, his face gets more flushed, his words get more slurred.
Arataka has an embarrassingly low tolerance to alcohol, and you're witnessing it firsthand. He's feeling it too; that urge to kiss you is a lot stronger than usual...
overcoat
"...Arataka. What are you doing."
Your tone is flat; unimpressed, as he slides one arm out of his coat, leaving the other in.
"...Making sure my beloved employee doesn't freeze her little fingers off, that's what."
He grins at you, a mischievous glint in his eye as he lays the side of the coat he isn't wearing onto your shoulder, shoving your arm in.

chapped lips (most popular!! thanks for 300 notes!)
"Want a taste?" You ask in a teasing tone, capping the lip balm and pointing it in his general direction.
Your heart flutters when you see his cheeks flush, and he averts his gaze quickly.
"As if I want a taste of your horrible lip balm," he shoots back, a grin playing on his lips as he looks at you, his head turned to the side.

that onigiri you like
Arataka scours the onigiri aisle, running everything under his careful, though sluggish eyes, looking and searching and scouting, and... Right there!
He reaches for one for himself and one for you, and his hand moves so fast that he finds himself having brushed it against someone else getting that same flavour. He huffs in annoyance, looking up to apologise, and—
Oh. it's you.
burning hot (yandere!!)
"Reigen? Everything okay?"
No. No no no no. Not you. Don't talk to him.
And you're worrying about him. Again. Why must you be so... Caring?

What point was there even trying to negotiate with the townfolk? They don't know anything.
They'd kill him regardless.
bad apple chapters one and two (unfinished, indefinite hiatus)
As Nightmare finished off the last apple, his painful shriek split the air as four great tentacles burst from his back: thrashing, physical manifestations of negativity, his body too full of hate, anger, envy, and...
Love.
He loved you, he realized. Loved you a lot more than he thought he did. And when he realized he finally had enough power to scare the townspeople and have you all to himself, he was ecstatic.

Note
also wow i just realized i have like no dreamcore songs except i guess fireflies by spaceouters? dunno who i'd associate that with tbh. i have a BUNCH of indie tho if you're interested
HI ANON and its okay >< not everyone gotta have those songs but i took a listen to fireflies n hmmmmm this song rlly gives me dan heng vibes
like look at his room, the floor tiles, the shelves, the desktop, his bed. dan heng to me comes across as the guy who doesn't sleep early. half the time, if you're up and walking around the cabin, trying to make tea or coffee or just get water, best believe half the time you'll be met with a "why are you still up?" or a "hey"
he'll sometimes invite you to his room where OK LETS IMAGINE his floors can be customized to whatever he wants. so sometimes when you enter his room, it'll be in the shades of blue, dark blue in fact, calm navy waves swirling below you as you take in the cool air that hits your face.
he'll have you wait by the side as he adjusts his pillows and all, then calling you over to sit beside him with your hot drink in hand. you'll talk about those trips that he didn't get to join in, the weird shower thoughts you have, his random thoughts, and sometimes, he'll even share his secrets because he puts his faith in you, much more that he had anticipated.
your talks would go on for hours and hours and it'll just end up being a sleepover. like it'll all start with a
"come, let's lay down and talk, my back's tired."
then suddenly you'll be faced with a soft smile on his face accompanied by half lidded eyes, and a "good morning."
and, you'll be standing in front of March 7 who has a big smile on her face and also a "good morning." already giggling at the sight of the two of you huddled together at the morning's coldness.
another scenario is that when he'll have nightmares of blade haunting him, reminding him of dan feng's sins. if he's ever woken up by those nightmares the night before, the night after he'll have his floors be set to those waves again, or something calming, a relaxing ambient type of setting like rain or the ocean again KSJDHF but! he'll play this song to set his mood before wrapping himself comfortably in his blankets, trying to fall asleep. he'll slowly release the tension around his feet, then legs, letting go of himself in each limb and all the way until he's fallen asleep.
These nights would be somewhat peaceful, ykno sometimes or some ppl, when they've been a night owl for quite some time, and they finally, FINALLY get that 10pm sleep and wake up at 7am??
YEA that's what happens to him during those nights, he'll wake up, feeling even more refreshed and energized, feeling as if he's taken a step forward, ready to start the day again.
btw anonnie, do u wanna set an emoji alias for urself? :OO
