The subtitle for Lovers is '몹시 그리워하고 사랑한'. Machine translated: "who dearly missed and loved".
This screams angst and longing and I'm here for it, muahahah
#[yes i'm going to be excited about this show at the risk of eating my own words when it comes out]#[yes i'm going to write a post every time we get an update]#[i simply have a lot of faith in hjy's screenwriting abilities]#[and ik that at the very least we'll get engaging characters]#[i'm still meh about the pairing on paper]#[i'd rather have a 'close-in-age' type of pairing]#[BUT they're both good actors individually so I have hope they'll make it work]#*#연인

unpopular opinion but personally i think getting rid of the study scene, the wedding nught speech and him sucking the venom out of her boobs were good choices because i was explaining tvwlm to my friends who have only seen s1 and they were like ummm idk if i want another dubius consent scene or forced (?) sex in regards to the study scene and wedding night and they said the bee scene would come across cringe on screen even though i tried to tell them it wasnt that bad. ik book readers are dying rn, but i think we have to remember there are some things casual audiences just cannot get on board with and they make up a majority of the views and second of all, some things just dont translate to screen well or hold up very well in general 20 years later. also my friends are super hyped for the melodrama the engagement to edwina is going to bring, and i think most casual fans will probably eat that shit up because people thrive for the drama when watching a PERIOD DRAMA !!!
I think I've said it again but just to make things clear: I'm sure general audiences will love Kate and Anthony. How could they not? Every time I see them on screen together I get fucking goosebumps so I expect their love story this season to captivate viewers. Plus drama selling and all that.
That being said...
If it were just about the library scene (the first one, not the one in Aubrey Hall during the storm), the bee incident and the wedding speech, I wouldn't even mind. I expected changes to be made forthe adaptation. But the way they've altered Edwina's character, erased Kate's backstory of trauma and the Anthony/Edwina wedding? No. I simply can't get on board with that.
But my biggest issue with season 2 is just how little Kate and Anthony we'll get as a couple. Like, okay so you want to include all that Edwina/Anthony/Kate bullshit for the sake of drama– fine. I hate it but I could get past it if they at least dedicated more time to the resolution and Kate and Anthony getting together and being a couple for longer that one scene.
I mean, no wedding scene for them? No wedding night at all? Seriously?? I can't help but feel robbed. Slowburn is great and all but I'd much rather see Kate and Anthony done justice in the end than watch 7 1/2 episodes of them being apart. That's the only Kathony season we'll get. We'll see the two of them suffer for not being able to be together all season only for their wedding (and probably wedding night) to happen off screen. They didn't just make changes they know will upset fans for the most beloved book in the series, they also barely gave their protagonists the screen time they deserve together on top of that. No married Kathony, no domesticity, nothing.
I'm also very cautious about the less sex scenes part that many fans have brushed off because "romance is more important". Season 1 was pretty innovative in celebrating the female gaze in that aspect, in a television landscape where there is constant gratuitous female nudity that objectifies and degrades women. Sex is a pretty important part of romance and I wanted my favourite couple to get at the very least one (1) sex scene. Right now by the spoilers I've read I'm not sure they've even given us that...
