“Hey…. Ummm… There’s…” Volt paused and looked to Bless and Node almost sheepishly as they sat by the campfire back behind the Inn. “There’s something I wanted to show you..”

Harmony had only glanced over at her father from where she was roasting a marshmallow, offering him an encouraging tail wag. Something he took to heart and closed his eyes. A spike in Chaos Energy within him all the warning before his body morphed and shifted into his larger form. Blackened sclera greeted them as he opened his eyes and ducked his head, ears folding by almost shyly.

“Remember how I mentioned being part Black Arms…”

The two had glanced cautiously to one another at those words, wondering if perhaps he was about to reveal some massive, damaging secret- something that would forever change their view of the hybrid. They figured, with words like those, this would be something that might even break the trio apart... But they were ready to hear, to listen, to understand.

Bless blinked for a moment, his tail trying to start a wag even as he forced it to still. His eyes narrowed, mouth forming into a thin line. Node's reaction was for their jaw to drop, eyes staring straight at the hybrid as he revealed this new form to them. Together, the two probably looked like a truly horrible reaction- eyes narrowed, mouth agape... It would be little wonder if Volt were concerned, even afraid.

But all that would change with one question.

"..... Why didn't you tell us about this sooner??" Bless expression softened as he hopped over the fire with ease, landing on the other side and offering the now-fluffier hybrid a hug. "I'm supposed to be the fluffy one of the group, Volt!!" His voice was incredulous, but the smile on his face spoke miles otherwise.

"...so fluffy..." Node murmured. They didn't jump nor teleport, instead their mouth finally closing before it formed into a smile, and then a faint laugh. "Guess you're not!"

"Shhhhh!!!" Bless grinned. "HE'S FLUFFY!" It would seem that was all the two really cared to focus on. They weren't stating it, far from it- but there was a truth in the way they were dealing with this moment. Neither had brought up that it was Black Arms DNA, that that was even involved. Silently, Bless shot Harmony a second of an inquisitive look- she'd known about this... And hadn't told them?

Well.. Volt did seem shy about it... And it was DNA from an enemy, so it was understandable he wouldn't be forthcoming... Although it hurt just a hint that he hadn't told the duo sooner, Bless and Node could relate, to a degree...

"Have you been shy about this or somethin'?" Node quirked an eyebrow. "... Don't get why, but lemme say this-"

"YOU LOOK SO COOL!" Bless interrupted. Node merely sighed, shaking their head as they gestured to the werehog.

"As he said." Their smile was only gone for a moment. ".... Now c'mere-" And they were on him. Both of them. It would seem neither had any qualms with his Black Arms form. "--FLUFFY!"

It would seem he'd earned a nickname from the two.

'Fluffy'.

Volt didn’t say anything, although it was probably easy to see on his face (the leftover droplets of crimson) just before he tried to bury his face in Bless’ fluffy chest. One eye peeking out and a silent plea for Node to snuggle up with the hand not settled about the werehog’s middle reaching out.

No words needed to be said. Bless could figure from the smattering of red, and the way the other buried his face into Bless’ (currently mega-fluffy) chest that something had gone down. But, for now, he didn’t pry- instead gently resting a hand on the other’s shoulder as he lowered his head onto Volt’s.

He was warm- not as warm as Harmony, of course, but warm all the same. His heart could barely be heard under all the fluff- beating so fast (as it often did) that it was hard to distinguish if it was beating at all. A single ear flicked, his expression darkening for but a moment before Bless softly kissed the hybrid’s head. He didn’t need to know what had happened. Didn’t have to ask.

Right now, it was time to comfort the other.

The show that had been running in the background was switched off as Node caught the singular eye, for a moment looking back with confusion- before they managed to piece together what they figured was being asked. They walked over to the two mobians, sitting down on the floor with them and ever-so-quietly wrapping their arms around both.

Two tails wrapped around the hybrid as much as they were able, dark blue and cream yellow slowly encasing Volt as the duo hugged him. They could ask later, figure out who needed to suffer- but right now? Volt’s comfort was far more demanding.

The faint pitter-patter of rain on the windows and ceiling was all that could be heard, aside from the softest purring noise as Bless closed his eyes, expression relaxing. Node wasn’t too far behind as the two snuggled into their boyfriend, a faint purr from one and an affectionate growl from the other. Voltage would find himself nearly sandwiched between the two, the pressure just barely there as they snuggled into him from both above and the side.

Bless was having a hard time containing his rage.- Holding Volt here, in this moment, knowing there was blood on his face as a few flecks of it managed to come off in his fur... He felt powerless. Angry. Someone had hurt his partner, and he hadn’t even--... He hadn’t been there to help. It was all he could do now to try to heal the mental cuts, however shallow or deep they might be.

Node was a little shaken up seeing Volt like that.-- They didn’t know how to help, never exactly the best at matters of comfort... But they’d let Bless and Volt take the lead to the best of their ability, wishing for all the world they knew more of what to do. They wanted to speak, to ask what happened, to just-- get some information they could use, but-- Volt... That blood...

They dug their muzzle in a little deeper.

“....we love you...” Whoever said it wasn’t quite clear, perhaps it was both-- but the sentiment held true either way. They wanted to help Volt, wanted to be there for him... So in this moment, they’d make sure he felt safe, felt loved, felt home.

A gentle kiss to the neck is given as thanks for coming by to make sure they were okay. Volt really did appreciate what Node did.

Even if they didn't get to smack somebody with a Pizza Peel.... Yet

They were more than a fraction tired from the day, and the internal rage they'd channeled into a more happy-go-lucky countenance had finally burned through their reserves. They growled happily for a moment, nuzzling the hybrid's cheek before tossing the pizza peel into the air. It vanished into nothingness, teleported away in a moment.

Maybe tomorrow.

Still.... If anyone messed with Volt and Harmony again...

That pizza peel would see use.

“He’s really nice. Honestly, I didn’t think there was anyone out there who could sweep both of us off our collective feet, but... Somehow, Volt managed. ‘Course, there’re times where we do the same to him... All’s fair in Love n’ War!... And... It’s nice... To have another person I can be so close to and not be afraid of... Guess that makes two...!”

The night had been an eventful one and Volt very well might have fallen asleep in the arms of his partners. A feeling of safety and love like that was hard to find and he was ever so grateful that they had decided to share it with him. So when the morning came and he had to return to the village for the day (an innkeeper’s job never ended), he had made them both breakfast for when they woke with a small note set on the kitchen counter.

‘Redeemable for two free kisses and a weekend camping trip. With love, Volt’

Bless had awoken before Node, having had a delivery to deal with that day. His alarm had gone off, but Node hadn’t so much as twitched. He chuckled quietly to himself as he exited the room, but his emerald eyes couldn’t help noticing a certain brown-and-red hybrid was missing from the scene... This was answered when he walked into the kitchen, rubbing one eye only to find breakfast fully made, and a note on the counter...

He was still getting used to recognizing the other’s handwriting, but once he read the note, the hedgehog found a smile gracing his muzzle. He was still tired, make no mistake... But as he turned to get a drink, he noticed a small glass on the table, already filled with OJ.

“.... Two kisses n’ a campin’...” He murmured under his breath. Bless shook his head, that smile only growing as he moved to eat his breakfast. He sat down to eat, vision flicking towards the note he’d kept in his hand until now. It was gently rested on the table as he picked up a fork.

“...fluffy’s gonna spoil us rotten at this rate...” In the other room, he heard the shuffling of his other semi-fox partner. It would seem the morning was truly underway, now...

As if Volt is going to turn down a chance to shower his partners in affection. Although he would start it himself with a kiss to the base of Node’s ear and one to Bless’ cheek before he pulled free the photo with a knowing smile.

“So… About the free kisses…”

Node and Bless had been semi-waiting, unsure if they should go on with their nights or wait for the other to reveal himself... But this was answered when the hybrid appeared at their home, kissing each in turn. Node, of course, was silent as the kiss was given. Even if they were developing their relationship, it was still a shock each and every time they were reminded. Bless, however, leaned into the kiss that was put to his cheek, before smirking at the hedgefox in turn.

“Y’found my note, huh?” He’d offer Volt a gentle, small peck on the nose- incredibly brief, incredibly faint, but it was there. That would be before he’d simply pull both of the semi-foxes into his grasp, hugging the duo with as much strength as he was willing to muster, to not hurt either. “Don’t worry, you’ll be gettin’ them~.”

“You actually did it...!” There was a soft laugh, before Node finally returned the hug, seeming to have returned to semi-normal after a few moments of being frozen in time. Volt was stuck between two mobians who were now fully intent on giving him his just desserts- after all, today was the day for it.

Another kiss was returned to the hedgefox from Node, with Bless not far behind....

A small tap was made to one side of Node’s shoulder, a light kiss to the opposite cheek, and a small box of handmade flavored candies placed on the table. All done before the one behind it all disappeared in a flash of light.

There was a quiet, startled 'wha-?!' from the fox as they felt the tap. Bless was out on a three-day delivery, leaving them home alone for the time being... And they had taken today off, after having spent a lovely day getting coated, head-to-toe, in paint the day before.

So it came as a surprise when they felt lips touch gently to their cheek, ears perking upright and starting to change to a light pink at the ends. They spun to try to talk to the other, only to see the flash of sparks indicating that he'd Chaos Snapped away. This was met with a faint pouting smile, one hand coming up to touch their cheek before they slowly turned back to pick up their phone.

What they saw then only made their smile grow. Their tail swished against the couch while both hands reached for the small box before them.

"....teleportin' in on ah mate, f'shame..." Their reprimanding tone was nowhere to be found, instead replaced with a soft fondness. They shot off a quick text a few moments later. One hand picked up one of the candies and dared to pop it into their mouth.

........ Well fuck.

They'd have to find a way to pay the hybrid back... Sooner as opposed to later. Of course, these thoughts would have to wait a little bit.

... It was rude to eat candy while plotting revenge, after all.

Harmony managed to snag a picture to send to Node. The image was from the cracked bedroom doorway of her father running his fingers through the slumbering werehog’s quills.

Node had been just finishing up the last touches on their latest building, chuckling quietly at a joke of a coworker and high-fiving another. They were (as per usual) coated in the colors of the home. It would have destroyed their clothes entirely, were these not meant purely for paint, in all its forms.

So it was no surprise that it took a while before Node could finally get to their phone, and when they did... Well, their coworkers glanced over at a sudden 'EEEEEEEEEEEE' from the fox, only to look away with rolls of the eyes and knowing grins.

"Y'mind, Squeaks?" One of Node's coworkers chuckled. Node's face colored faintly, but they nodded.

"Yep-- sorry, I'll just...!" They gathered up their things, paint-stained clothes thankfully dry enough to handle with minimal issue. "Y'guys have a good night, see ya!" They tried to teleport-- only for the attempt to fail outright. For a moment, they felt they might trip. Their face colored more. The fox started off, the awkwardness of the situation too much for them to really say anything.

"Tell your fluffbutt we said hi!" One of the others called just as Node turned a corner. They were dying. They were dying. They were absolutely dying. That image was so cute, even if it was through a cracked bedroom door, it was adorable to see the two getting along- better than that, really.

It was precious to see that Volt and Bless were having a gentle night, and-- checking their phone, they could see another text from Volt, a few minutes prior to Harmony.

So, he'd appeared at the Inn... At least they knew where he was, now.

[Give me a few minutes to get cleaned up and I'll be over! Thanks for letting me know- and for tucking him in.]

They breathed out. Right. Calm thoughts, calm thoughts.... They moved their phone back over to the other chat, only to have to clamp a hand over their mouth. Nope, it was too cute, and they were a cuteness pushover. The image had their mind reeling yet again.

They finally rested their sights on the other chat bar, the one with Harmony... And breathed in. Right. Respond-- neatly.

They tucked their phone away, now intent on ignoring it until they got cleaned up...
