DORORO N KOYUKI THEYRE AWESOME. THE BESTEST CHARACTERS. i dont think any fans dislike either of them bc they’re so great that how could you not like them

INSEPARABLE BEST FRIENDS. VERY familial. they rely on each other they encourage each other they teach things to each other they help each other. they both want the best for each other & always do whatever they can to help Get it. they’re sooo sweet all the time theyre just giving each other advice or telling each other new bad jokes. or hunting in the woods together. you know how it is. koyuki always does whatever she can for dororo when hes having a Complete Emotional Breakdown and hes always super excited for her when she has a good time hanging out with natsumi and They’re Just Sweet.

your ideal/headcanon version of it? how does it differ from how it is in canon & why is this your favorite version? any other alternate versions of it you enjoy?

i dont think theyre actually very different in my mind than in the series. like. i used to think dororo being like her dad was a fabrication of my brain but no he really IS sometimes. his first dialogue in the show is asking her how she likes her new school. like. they’re one of those dynamics i like where i dont think there’s any improving on it. it’s pretty much the best version of itself as is.

what do you like about their relationship, why is it interesting or enjoyable to you?

I HAVE to like it bc dororo is my favorite character ever and koyuki is One Of my favorite characters in the series. i love found family. i Love Besties. i love autistic people. theyre just Very Fun, and Very Cute, and Very Funny, and Very Important

what about the individual characters involved? what does this relationship mean to them, what makes it unique among their relationships?

GOD IT HAS TO BE SO SO IMPORTANT TO BOTH OF THEM. LIKE. lets start with koyuki. She seems to be an orphan but aside from that her family situation is unknown, like idk if she ever HAD parents she Knew or not, and the ninja village she spent Most of her childhood in was kind of Against the formation of too Soft & Close of relationships. One of her lifelong friends Mukuro was always firmly against koyuki calling them friends because Ninjas Don’t Have Friends, and another one of her friends would help her out when she got tired or hurt during training as a little kid & she said he might get in trouble because he wasn’t Supposed to help her. Koyuki had friends anyway because she’s just that nice and determined but she wasn’t really SUPPOSED to and i don’t know how many people were close to her in like. A Warm Way Conducive To A Child Who Is Growing Up. Dororo is sort of Her Only Family, and he’s also the one Consistent part of her life - she had to say goodbye to all the people she’d known for her entire life when the ninja village was disbanded, and had to move on to a life completely different from anything she was used to, BUT Dororo had been living in the village for a few years (is the timeline I tend to go with) before that so she gets to have ONE properly familiar thing With her in her new life.

For dororo. First of all. Koyuki is the ONE person he knows that he has absolutely 0 grudge of any kind against. He’s at least a tiny little bit angry at everyone else he knows but koyuki has never done anything wrong to him ever in her life. She also like. Saved His Life. In the straightforward literal momentary sense and also in the existential metaphorical sense of when you experience a change so drastic that it completely changes you and then you look back and go I USED TO BE LIKE THAT?? THANK GOD I GOT OUT like . She literally saved his life when she found him caught in a trap which it has to be said was kind of a big deal for him already because he was taught to expect humans to be violent and cruel, don’t join the military. & she took him back to her village and took CARE of him and helped train him 2 be a ninja and indirectly/unintentionally showed him some of the Best of earth & humanity and the kinds of things he thinks are Beautiful and he got his life changed and threw the old life out and became someone he likes more. And she is always nice to him and is the one person who never forgets him :)

They just care about each other so much!!!! They both have other very close friends but they’re definitely each others closest friends on a very deep level. They consider it a Given that they are going to keep being best friends & family forever. Soulmates (familial)

favorite interaction they have in canon

NOOOOhow am i supposed to choose…. most of their interactions are really sweet or funny……. ummmm…. I like just sort of. Everything that’s about their friendship in 184. Koyuki noticing something is Weird with dororo and immediately spending her whole day making a protective charm for him. their friendship literally saving his life again in that koyuki (not for the first time) uses her awesome powers of Being Very Determined and Caring So So Deeply About Her Friends to overcome magic that’s supposed to be completely controlling her, & is able to just redirect her sword a little to hit the charm she made instead of hitting him.

Also I really like the scene in movie 2 where tamama goes “i feel like we’re forgetting someone” and koyuki immediately holds up dororo and goes “dororo’s here!” it’s really funny

I just think they deserve more family moments bc they very much are family. And I want to see more of dororo being koyukis wingman when she wants to spend time with natsumi. He’s already kinda done that once in the manga. Do it again. Help ur daughter get her rad gf

you kinda freak and just toss it away and run your way back home, as far away from the boys as possible. 

but alas, you’re their manager, and you have duties to fulfill. so you show up to practice the next morning terrified for your life. 

you’re not really sure why you’re so scared and nervous. you just are? it’s a huge part of who you are and it’d be a big bummer if the most important boys in your life didn’t accept it.

how they find out: it’s like 3am on a weekend, the seijoh 4 and some of the second years. you’d baked a cake with like all of them all at once in the kitchen, so it was now a mess, so you’re attempting to clean it up as fast as you can the way you know best — with your hands and your mind. makki walks in, high as shit, sees this and just.

he was probably sent there by iwa to get water or something, so iwaizumi walks in and just yells so loud “what the fuck!” 

it’s like they’re all summoned by this. they eventually all pile into the kitchen and you’re literally just frozen in fear with pots and pans and utensils and specks of flour hovering by you. and then you maintain eye contact with iwa as you lift one hand and direct the pans into a cupboard and slowly shut it.

so they get married, symbolically if anything, because they've been dating for probably a little over a decade now and known each other even longer, AND been living together for the same amount of time

theyre the first of the ninja to settle down, and they buy a small house in a village thats maybe an hour away from ninjago city

the tininess of the house is made up for by the largeness of the yard, where cole likes to garden, especially fruits and vegetables

cole works as a stay at home free lance artist, doing stuff like commissions, book covers, comics, etc for moneykai does something that puts his charisma to use, probably something in business that lets him advertise and talk a lot..he could never settle down for a stay at home job or anything, even with all his thrilling ninja stories

they have enough money from donations and awards to thrive off these jobs, and ninjago probably pays them kind of like retirement

cole cooks for kai so he always has a meal ready when hes home, so then kai cooks on the weekend

anyways, they have two kids, about 3 years aparti haven't figured them much out yet, but kai and cole cook and bake with themcoles parenting style is very protective and rather spoils them, while kai lets them do whatever as long as its not immediately dangerousthey balance each other out well, so their kids grow up loved and well rounded

lovelypeaches08/28/2019zane is tricky for me...i like to imagine him sticking with lloyd to being a ninja or whatever, since hes going to be alive a lonnggg timehe also wants to respect wus wishes, so he teaches students and fights alongside lloydhe does so much less however, and finds a lot of time to visit his friends

kai and coles kids are shy around him at first, him being a nindroid whose still a ninja, but hes so much nicer and softer than expectedhe always brings them presenrs and enjoys quality time with them, so he's basically their favorite uncle

now lloyd continues his master training, to become the next master after wu dies. hed be the one to guide the next generation of elemental masters as well as their parents in training thembut don't worry, he gets a break too, since the other ninja help him out. hes much less burdened then wu was in the later years of his lifeok thats all i think

One time at the canoe regatta I race in, everyone was up at the mess hall getting dessert and I was waiting for my friends to change because they decided to wait and of course I went with them :/ So I’m standing outside the tent waiting for them, and I hear someone whistling “That’s What Makes You Beautiful” walking down the road and I see it’s my older team mate Danny, who’s really sweet and goofy and hot and going into the military and sign me the fuck up but he’s a lot older, and anyway, he’s coming down the road and I say hi, and tell him not to trip over the giant bag I left in the boy’s tent for our secret santa. “Actually,” I said, “Can you just put it on Dom’s bed for me? I didn’t know which one it was.”

“Yeah, sure,” he says, coming down the hill and telling me which one is Dom’s bed while I say “oh, okay” as if I have any sort of idea which one he’s talking about. 

He disappears into the tent and after a moment reappears and asks “Where is everyone anyway?”

“Oh, they’re up at the mess hall getting ice cream,” I said, somewhat dismissively. 

“What?! They have ICE CREAM?!?!” He asks, and I’m like yeah, and man have I never seen a guy run so fast. Hr flew up the steps, yanked open the mess hall doors, and dashed inside meanwhile I’m dying with laughter to the point I fall on one of our beds and I can’t move because I’m laughing so hard.

After, we went inside and ended up in line behind him, and he’s like “They have girl scout cookies. I love girl scout cookies.” And I’m like “well yeah, it’s a girl scout thing.” and then he said “Army Dudes Dig Girl Scout Cookies,” and told us all these stories about his army buddies getting hooked up with girl scout cookies.

Meanwhile while we’re sitting around eating ice cream and girl scout cookies, I turn to my friends and said “You know, the last time we ate girl scout cookies and ice cream, the ceiling caved in”, which made our army dude look up at the ceiling and vacate our table.

i so i’m practicing military time now. and i feel like since i talk about my feelings so much on here, that i can spill them out here as much as i feel. i’m just craving for that interaction without intentionally realizing itts. so i replied back to two messages friday evening (to guys). and realized i want to talk to more girlfriends tooos but fortunately my friend Hannah works with me night shifts except she’s part time because of school. And I’ve been adding and have been added as friends by my colleagues at work. One of them who very oddly resembles my ex ex before bc tall and lanky and very sarcastic and very filipino and cosplays with his wife and friends 😅 and when we’re at work hes supposed to be  the bedside shift report getting out of the day shift and i’d be the person he would report to bc nights.

And I guess because I’ve been updating my manager on things and letting her know my concerns and showing her consistency at work so far since my orientation training, I’ve also been updating my colleagues too but some of them (really only one or two of them 😒) enjoy gossiping about the other coworkers, mainly about my friend Hannah. It’s like you really have nothing better to do .-. Honestly if that patients were fine with her last night and only had one or two concerns that don’t involve YOU, and were just by their opinion or by pain even though your tech the previous night did everything they could and consistently ask for pain meds (even if theyre on scheduled ones AND not to mention even though I was on the brink of falling asleep the whole shift with only two hour sleeeps, I still saw and heard Hannah going in and out of the patients rooms during hourly rounding). On a serious note, this lady, Sylvia .-. she’s this thick african american accent who is also pretty new at work for about a month now from what my manager told me. She’s beautiful she’s this old lady with dark skin and hair braided and tucked half up/down. BUT, her manners during bedside shift report were not. 

My point is, I can talk with these guys. We can be catty and shit talk about each other, as long as we’re still giving that care to the patient. I realized I’m still irritable if only having 2-4 hours of sleep a day, so I’ll try to take Tim’s advice (former uic classmate/ former one week or month crush/current friend ish who’s friends with Katherine 😅 bc out of the blue he messaged me a few days ago and we were talking about nursing and his passion for sticking needles into patients and drawing their blood lmao) and try to sleep RIGHT AFTER getting home from work and getting settled obviously. idk, I just naturally wake up at 11 or noon from those naps and end up going to sleep at 6. So i guess that would be 5 hours of sleep sometimes but broken up in between throughout the day. I would have to have my alarm set for 8;45. LATELY, I’ve been wanting to go to work at 9:30 and be there at that time and then clock in at 9:53, because of looking over the kardexes and seeing if theyre updated or not. Obviously my plains just end up with me coming in 3 minutes before 10 anyway :/ and just scribbling away patient info on my nursing sheets. And then try to jump immediately into bedside report. I think I’ll be more considerate and aware because I know the PT(patient) will want to sleep right after getting their VS and having used the bathroom, being repositioned, and feeling more comfortable in bed. Fortunately, most of the 13-bed patient rooms in ortho on my unit, are alert and oriented. Theres been times where we will get a few extra people who are diagnosed for GI bleed, Hx pneumonia or other iso precautions BUT along with an ortho surgical thing, or nausea, etc. Most of the time these extra patients can walk, and at night time just assist standby as needed and check on them hourly rounds and doing garbage and linens in between. 

During the morning shift, our manager will be doing rounds on the patients and techs as well just like I’ve seen during my orientation training for mornings. She gave me a tip after orientation to make sure the room looks neat and tidy, even if they wanted to keep their linens in their room, make sure it all looks presentable, common sense etc. And then she’d go and ask how their night went, and depending if we’ve given them that care or not, then the most they’d complain about is just pain even if they’ve taken all their meds. And a tip she gave me for adjusting that pain, is maybe have a pillow underneath their surgical elbow to elevate it, or have a towel rolled up and put underneath the ankle/heel to relieve pressure. Offer to make sure their SCD’s are on and offer to reposition them. And the ones who are back surgicals (laminectomies) we’d have to make sure they get into bed safely and log roll them into position. So they’d have to trust their arms, elbows, and side of their bodies to maneuver themselves into bed, while we offer to support their legs or any part of their body to help them into bed. One of them the other day before my shift ended adn after bedside report, asked me if I would be working that evening again, and I told her sadly that i was off the weekend and she complimented me for my bedside care and was proud of herself that she was able to get back into bed and said her thanks for having given her a new gown to dress into because she was mostly sweating and getting cold/warm throughout the night. I had offered to change her linens at 3 in the morning because of a stain from her lower back dressing and made sure she knew that the nurse was informed also. And because she had her daughter come by yesterday there were a few chairs that kinda crowded the room so I made the space looked neater since she used a commode at the bedside. 

I think I’m getting used to it it’s been a first week for me on the floor without a preceptor. Technically that was supposed to be my second week by myself, BUT I asked my manager if I could have another week to practice and be on the floor to get used to the routine and just have someone there to assist whenever I needed it. She commended me for being honest and reassured that it would be an excellent idea considering she wants me to feel comfortable and confident on the floor. And at least during nights we don’t have to remove foleys (if their foleys were removed during the day, we would just make sure if they havent been urinating after 6-8 hours consistently that we would have a hat in there and possibly day shift before their shift ends would do a bladder scan). And at least at night we wouldn’t have to do iv removals, UNLESS, the patient asks for it on the very morning like 3-4 a.m if they were concerned about it and just wanted it removed on the day theyre getting discharged. Like the other day I had to remove one because a patient of mine was getting discharged to go to westmoreland/ECF (similar to nursing home/rehab care until they can go home) and was hoping she’d get the best care there like she had with me and a few other techs. This was the same patient who also appreciated me sharing with her my stories about writing and reading for fun or for just student train in tutoring a few semesters ago. So far, after being asked how nights went by several people, I’ve kept some key information in mind like if they wanted to walk around in the middle of the night then let the nurse know and also let them walk if they need to. Obviously not on the day fresh out of surgery, but when PT/OT says it’s okay and walk with them too. And be sure to be considerate of trash and their posessions like making sure their overbed table wasn’t cluttered with old tissues or that theyre phone or their spirometer (instrument patients use to measure air capacity bc we’d also need their saturation to be at 92/93+) was in reach if they needed or out of reach. 

So that was the gist of the first week, and then suddenly getting that message out of the blue by him. And it feels like earlier and yesterday I had all these thoughts running in my head about it or what-ifs like if I had been at uic longer and chosen to stay. Or etc. what-if in the future. I just wanted to write it down because it means something to me and having people from the past come back to you in a way where that interaction isn’t lost forever. I think what I learned from a couple of online classes and reading from lectures is at this certain age and before your 40′s, people tend to feel a lost of intimacy and identity still searching but that they try to fill in their time and everything. And I’m thankful at least he liked that I talked alot, as if I hadn’t talked about it in forever with someone and felt like I was just keeping it to myself and needed to spill what I felt. And he was glad he had someone to hear his thoughts and passions for perfusion and I think I just wanted insight on school and I think his parents are tryng to make him go back and do nursing. SOO if that’s the case, even though I told him to fight for what he wants to do, we might end up being in the same batch for nursing if I go to uic haha. Since i have the same plans to take anatomy at my school rn and a few other courses but for chamberlain or uic. It’s iffy right now and maybe there’s a chance as long as I have other schools backed up. I just like how after watching so many nursing and med student videos online, that it’s not too late to achieve your dreams, it’s not too late to start over 🌸☀️

my japanese class went on a field trip to zojoji temple near tokyo tower with japanese university students

went in tokyo tower and saw an amazing sunset over mt. fujiiiiii (and sprouted ideas for future romantic date set up hehehe)

met a bunch of cool japanese students (Hiro and Lola!!)

went to dinner with the students and our professor

ela and i were talking about how cool the guy hiro was on our walk back

and then he ran to catch up with us to walk back to the train lmao. our pal!!! what a guy!!!

wandered around back roads of azabu juban and found a cemetary

went back to tuj until 10pm in the studio

FRI

went to see the stand-up act of the guy I went to the drag show & other comedy show with (his name is nao for the record)

we were supposed to meet up with Ela but she got sick last minute :(

but things weren't awkward they were fun :)))) and i remembered that i actually think he’s really cute and funny (apparently i forgot in the week we didn't see each other lmao)

nao was so nervous and I was trying to comfort him while simultaneously trying not to make him more nervous by being too close lmao

after the show we stayed and talked to his professor that came and the also mc of the show (both asked how we met and we had to say tinder lmao)

his professor told me not to help him write his paper (hes an english major lol) and that it would be “good to make him suffer a little”

talked to the mc about being awkward when they make you participate at comedy shows but this part wasn’t actually awkward. also its so cool meeting all these people that are in japan for all different reasons??? also im becoming a real adult that can have actual good conversations with strangers

nao and i took the train back to shinjuku together and  he said he was amazed that i dont fall over on the train since i dont hold on to anything lmao

THE CRAZIEST DAY EVER I WALKED 27K steps/12 MILES

left dorm at 9am for tuj. met up with painting professor. took train to ueno park

museum we were gonna go to was closed for renovation so we went to some Titian show at another one and it was boring so ela and i just discussed how terrible they were at painting babies

went to another exhibition space called chiyoda 3331. saw a few really cool things

walked around akihabara/ in an arcade

ate tempura and discussed japan and learning japanese. and art. 

the guy we were with (kevin) showed us this cool bridge where you can see a ton of different train lines crossing over a river and we stood there for like a good 30 min lmao

took the train across tokyo to shimokitazawa (THRIFTING)

looked around a bit before ela and i met up with our friends Kristi and Steph. 

I fell in love with a pair of suede turquoise doc martens. and they had my size. in japan. a miracle. (also theyre new not thrifted) 

bought the docs

sadly didnt fit into many japanese clothes. uncertain if this is a body type issue or a too much food lately issue or maybe a bit of both...

got crepes and a good ass teriyaki burger

THOUGHT i was gonna go home but kristi and i stopped in shin-okubo (koreatown) for desert

looked at kpop goods and yelped for a while (both our favorite groups are very popular here)

bought some korean food from the grocery store and then... alcohol from the conveince store :-) public drinking is legal here lmao japan is too lit

Got drunk off this super strong vodka tonic that im convinced is simultaneously the cheapest and most tasty way to get drunk ever. i will miss this drink

woke up somehow naturally at 8am. an hour before i even set an alarm. not hung over. feeling great. 

went for a run which didnt go well bc of asthma and general lack of physical fitness but at least i got to see a lot of the nearby neighborhood

met up with ela’s class at the science and nature museum. an illustrator that works here was giving us sketching advice/tips and at first i thought he was super agressive but i warmed up to him

he liked my drawing a lot and told me i should come to his event where a bunch of artists and illustrators in tokyo come to draw on sunday nights!!

ela and i went to ikebukuro and ate mcdonalds

walked to the bar where her roommate (atsuko) was performing. 

ATSUKO IS AMAZING she is so talented holy shit i love her
