Leo and Madie stood in the clearing, panting. Though the two were on opposite sides, and their lovers were also damaged and hurting, they didn't care. Maddie's head was the first to turn, watching Leo's knees buckle as they refused to hold his weight any more. The small girl took a moment, then ran, as fast and hard as her small, stocky legs could take her after such strain. She threw herself like a ragdoll at the boy who saved her all those years ago, and he happily embraced her. It wasn't long before they were busy sobbing into each other's arms, reprimanding and apologizing and thanking. Leo took Madie's head and tucked it gently into his hard chest, his lips resting gently on his best friend's head. "It's okay," he murmured to her as they passed out on the concrete, concerned yelling swarming their ears.
