With a nephew arriving any day now, Scott found himself gravitating towards the baby store, basket full of cute outfits and a toy or two that he intended on sending along in the hopes it might arrive alongside his sister’s new bundle of joy. Scott, however, knew very little about children and babies, and so he found himself holding toys that were woefully beyond the skills, interest (and safety) of a newborn. “Babies need teething toys, right? How long does it take for them to start getting teeth, anyway?” Surely babies loved to drool on whatever they could get their mouths on, so Scott’s gift might eventually be of genuine use.

“Y’know, all I’m saying is I’ll pay for the fancy stroller if you want the fancy stroller.” Benji offered casually as they strolled around the insanely overpriced baby boutique. He vaguely remembered having gone with Katie to Babys-R-Us back before Connor was born, but that had been a blur of anxiety over what products had the best safety reviews and blah, blah, blah. Now he could have fun, because he was helping Flo shop for his future niece or nephew. “The question is kind of, just, where’s the nursery gonna be, right? Like, are you planning on bringing this lil dude back to casa del Benji, or are you, uh, y’know... Doing something different?” Benji didn’t know how to delicately ask such a question. He loved having his sister under his roof, so did Annie, and having a baby there would be a thrill for everyone. But whether or not that was Flo’s ultimate plan or desire was, naturally, up to her.
