Pickle Market Forecast 2022 - 2027
Pickle Market Overview
Global Pickle Market size is estimated to reach $12.3 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 4.1% during the forecast period 2022-2027. Pickles can be demarcated as relics or pieces of vegetables and fruit stored in vinegar to extend a strong flavor to them. Pickles across the globe are commonly prepared from fruit, vegetables, meat, and seafood. However, vegetable pickles and fruit pickles are the most widely consumed forms. Various spices and herbs such as mustard seeds, cinnamon, cumin seeds, carom seeds, and antimicrobial herbs are often taken into account during the pickling process which enhances the life span of the product. Along with preservation, pickling extends special taste and texture to it. The pieces of fruit and vegetables are mixed with vinegar, salt, brine, and several spices and allowed to mature after placing them inside a jar so that the desired taste can be achieved. Preservatives and food additives like EDTA and Alum are frequently used in pickling for enhancing the crisp texture and shelf life of pickles. Expanding trend of cross-cultural cuisines because of rapid globalization, health benefits such as better metabolism, blood purification, and ulcer reduction associated with its moderate consumption, availability of a variety of food flavors, growing gross domestic product per capita income, bettering retail infrastructure in low-income countries are factors set to drive the growth of the Global Pickle Market for the period 2022-2027.

Key Takeaways
Geographically, the North America Pickle Market accounted for the highest revenue share in 2021. The growth is owing to the astonishing popularity of pickled olives and cucumber, high disposable incomes, presence of top-notch retail services providers whether online or offline.
Innovative marketing strategies used by market players, availability of several flavors and varieties, growing demand among western consumers, and easy purchases because of e-commerce services is said to be preeminent driver driving the growth of the Global Pickle Market. Carcinogenic properties that elongate the risk of esophageal cancer, strangled production, and ever-growing inflation are the factors said to reduce market growth.
Detailed analysis of the Strength, Weaknesses, and Opportunities of the prominent players operating in the market will be provided in the Global Pickle Market report.
Pickle Market Segment Analysis-By Packaging Type
The Global Pickle Market based on the packaging type can be further segmented into plastic containers, glass jars, and multi-layered coextruded pouches. The glass and plastic jar segment held the largest share in 2021. The glass has been the primary choice for manufacturers when it comes to pickle storage as glass extends protection against microbes, sunlight, and air which might turn the pickle bitter and rancid. In addition to that, glass packaging is aesthetically appealing and prevents several chemicals from getting leach into the pickle. Moreover, enlarging preference among consumers and manufacturers as plastic jars are easier to handle and store because of their lightweight has heightened the plastics jars demand too. Plastic packaging is more cost-effective; moreover, they don’t break easily which makes them a safer way to store products. Nevertheless, the stand-up pouches segment is estimated to be the fastest-growing with a CAGR of 5.6% over the forecast period 2022-2027. This growth is owing to easy storage, flexibility, cheapness, and lightweight nature.

Pickle Market Segment Analysis-By Distribution Channels
The Global Pickle Market based on distribution channels can be further segmented into offline (supermarket/hypermarket, convenience stores, brick-and-mortar stores) and online. The offline segment held the largest share in 2021. The growth is owing to their far-reaching presence, extensive range of products, suitable for bulk shopping, product inspection options, alluring discount, and easy returns. Furthermore, the online segment is estimated to be the fastest-growing with a CAGR of 6.3% over the forecast period 2022-2027. This growth is owing to expanding trend of working from home which has left people with little to no time for offline shopping and the growing popularity of e-commerce applications. Moreover, enlarging smartphone users, 24/7 access to top-speed internet, tech-friendly population, better infrastructure in low-income countries, and same-day delivery conveniences have their fair share in propelling the growth of e-commerce platforms.
Pickle Market Segment Analysis-By Geography
The Global Pickle Market based on Geography can be further segmented into North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America, and the Rest of the World. North America held the largest share with 32% of the overall market in 2021. The growth in this segment is owing to the factors such as escalating demand for pickled olives and cucumber in North American countries like Canada. Unlike Asian countries like India, Pakistan, and Nepal, there is no concept of homemade pickles in western nations and consumers are more dependent on ready-made forms which they can buy easily at stores that have fairly driven the market. Considering the growing demand, market players launching a variety of products. For example, in 2019, a pouch-based pickle named “The Mighty Pickle” was launched by Mighty Fine Foods. In addition to that, high disposable incomes and well-established retail infrastructure has aided the aforementioned market in the said region. However, Asia-Pacific is expected to be the fastest-growing segment over the forecast period 2022-2027. This growth is owing to the extensive usage of pickles in South Asian households. Pickle holds a special place in Asian kitchens. The refining retail infrastructure, rapid urbanization, and growing incomes have pushed the majority toward ready-made options instead of making on their own which has aided the market.

Having thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring Beast Wildlife Adventures of K’uk Tours invited us to spend 0 days on a customized adventure, we leapt at the opportunity.
We’ve long been fascinated by history, from the ancient and modern-day Maya peoples to the mingling of indigenous and colonial influences after the Spanish conquest led by 6th century conquistador Pedro de Alvarado.
Our action-packed itinerary gave us time to explore ancient Mayan settlements such as El Mirador and Tikal (posts on both coming soon). We also visited tourist attractions such as Lake Atitlán, the charming small town of Flores, and the National Archaeology Museum in City.
But, for our money, the can’t-miss tourist attraction in is Antigua, a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site. Antigua (whose name means “old ”) offers an incredible array of activities for a town with just over 45,000 residents, with colonial architecture, rich indigenous culture, massive volcanoes, colorful wildlife, and more.
Here’s a look at our picks for the Top 5 things to do in Antigua, , with an emphasis on natural and historical attractions.

FROM GUATEMALA CITY TO ANTIGUA
Antigua is located approximately 35 kilometers (2 miles) southwest of City, which makes it easy to visit Antigua during your vacation.
But if you’re coming from La Aurora International Airport, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get there quickly. Depending on traffic, road conditions, and other unpredictable factors, getting to Antigua could take anywhere from 40 minutes to several hours.
Here’s a quick look at the various ways to get from City to Antigua:
• Take the Chicken Bus: Although this option is cheap (around $.25 US) and rich with local flavor, we don’t recommend using the public bus. For one, crime can be an issue, as can the language barrier unless you’ve mastered Spanish.
• Book a Shared Shuttle: This is the best budget-friendly option– usually $0 to $5 per person– and can be reserved in advance. There’s even an eco-friendly option, READ MORE: Things to Do in for Nature Lovers

The fantastic facade of the Antigua Cathedral
. Visit the Antigua Cathedral
Also known as the Saint Joseph Cathedral (or Catedral de San José in Spanish), the Antigua Cathedral is located right on the city’s popular Parque Central.
The original church was built on the site sometime around 54, but suffered through a number of devastating earthquakes and was ultimately demolished in 669. It was rebuilt over the next decade, and by the mid-700s it was one of the largest 773 earthquake, which began on July 29 and lasted through December. Antigua (then known as Santiago de los Caballeros de ) was at that time the colonial capital of Central America. But the earthquake’s destruction was so bad, Spanish authorities decided to move the capital to what is now known as City.
Fortunately, the two front towers remained mostly intact and were extensively restored in the early 800s, and the cathedral was partially rebuilt. Get up close to the gorgeous facade and you’ll notice hands missing from some of the statues of saints, which could not be repaired after the earthquake damaged them.
The inside of the church is now an extremely popular wedding venue (there was one about to start when we visited). And the outside looks especially beautiful at night, when the most beautiful of the many churches in Antigua, is illuminated.

Chicken Bus ready to roll out
5. Check Out the Chicken Bus Terminal
The Chicken Bus is a memorable, unusual part of the travel experience. These brilliant bursts of color are a common sight throughout the country, but it just so happens there’s an entire terminal of them right behind the Mercado de Antigua.
Known locally as La Camioneta, these vehicles begin their lives as U.S. school buses, which are typically auctioned off after 0 years or 50,000 miles. Most are purchased for under $2000, then driven back to and neighboring countries in Central America.
Once there, they’re transformed into something infinitely more interesting. The yellow paint is replaced by wild designs, with crazy colors running from hood and windshield to bumper. There may be artistic murals or names of the owner’s girlfriend, and you may find the exit doors plastered with wrestling posters.
The insides of Chicken Buses are typically decked out in festive READ MORE: The Chicken Bus, ’s Unusual Mode of Transport

Jade Mask at Jade Maya
0. Visit Jade Maya
Jade is a generic term used to describe two different types of stones, both of which are best known for their green varieties. Jadeite is a silicate comprised of sodium and aluminum, while nephrite is contains calcium and magnesium. Jadeite is the denser of the two, and comes in a more brilliant range of colors.
Jade has been a prized part of Jade Maya was founded in 974 by archaeologist Mary Lou Ridinger with her husband, Jay. Mary Lou was the first to discover jade quarries in that had been lost for hundreds of years, since the time of the Spanish Conquest. As a result, Jade Maya feels as much like a museum as it does a store.
We learned a lot about the history of Jade, not just in Latin America but also in Asia, as well as how to differentiate between the different types. (Let’s just say that nephrite doesn’t stand up nearly as well to a good hammering!)
There are some incredible jade artifacts and reproductions on display, as well as a slick modern shop offering jade jewelry, carvings, and museum replicas for almost every budget. Our favorites were the Mayan astrology jade necklaces, with signs based on the actual day (including year) you were born.

. Eat at Restaurante Posada de Don Rodrigo
One of our favorite Antigua, restaurants, Restaurante Posada de Don Rodrigo is attached to the hotel of the same name. The hotel consists of three restored colonial residences, one of which, (the 300-year-old “Casa de Los Leones”) is a n National Historic Monument.
Located two blocks north of the Parque Central, the complex boasts an exquisitely landscaped courtyard with colorful flowers and a fountain at its center. Sitting outdoors on the shaded patio, it made a picturesque setting with Volcán de Agua looming large in the background.
If stunning scenic views aren’t your thing, lunchtime at the romantic restaurant features lively music from a live Marimba band. Dinners is usually accompanied by a performance of n folk dancing (in traditional costume dress) by Baile de los Moros.
But our favorite thing about this taste of old world Antigua was the tipical food. Traditional dishes such as Plato Chapin (barbecue platter), Chiles Rellenos, and Pepian (a spicy chicken stew that should be ’s national dish) were fresh and incredibly delicious.
As were the piping hot tortillas being made by hand right by our table!

Antigua seen from the Cerro de la Cruz Lookout
2. See the City From Cerro de la Cruz Lookout
Wherever you go in Antigua, you’ll likely notice the Cerro de la Cruz (Cross on the Hill) on the north side of town.
The massive cross was installed in honor of the city’s patron saint in 930, and the hill was where American helicopters landed to deliver emergency supplies after roads from City to Antigua were destroyed by the 976 earthquake.
Several years ago the road to Cerro de la Cruz from Antigua was the site of several muggings, but these days police officers patrol the area from 8AM to 4PM daily. We heard that police will also escort tourists up to the landmark from the Parque Central at certain times, but our tour guide took us up.
Entrance to the site is free, but there is a 5 Quetzal (around 65¢) parking fee. Once you arrive, you’ll see numerous vendors selling water, snacks, and souvenirs as you make your way down to the Mirador de la Cruz (Cross’ Lookout).
The view from here is positively breathtaking, with the entire colorful city surrounded by the three dramatic volcanoes. The best time of day to visit is the morning, before the crowds arrive and the clouds gather to obscure the mountains’ summits.

Iglesia de la Merced
3. Visit Iglesia de la Merced
Semana Santa in Antigua, is widely considered to ranks among the world’s great cultural festivals. The exquisitely designed Iglesia de la Merced, which is located on the city’s north side, is where all of the pageantry begins.
The Mercedarians (a.k.a. Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy)– a Catholic order established in Barcelona in 28– were the first to establish a monastery in the city formerly known as Santiago de . The church’s remarkable Baroque-style façade features an effigy of order founder San Pedro Nolasco, flanked by two Mercedarians and the order’s crest.
The cross in the atrium and the rooms behind the main altar are the oldest parts of the church, dating back to the 7th century. The luxurious sanctuary and cloister were built by Juan de Dios Estrada, who wisely used low height and wide arches and columns to help the building withstand earthquakes. Iglesia de la Merced officially opened to the public in 767.
The interior of the church is truly a marvel, but unfortunately there are no photographs allowed inside the building. The policy is easy to understand once you’re inside and realize that there are typically multiple different services and going on in the various chapels.
Antigua’s Holy Week celebration is one of the most popular tourist attractions, and it starts right at the church’s entrance. Natural rugs known as alfombras blanket the city’s sidewalks and streets, with vibrantly dyed sawdust, pine straw, fruit, nuts, and flowers arranged into intricate colorful designs using stencils.
We’re hoping to go back during Easter at some point to see the famed Semana Santa processionals (which include 7,000 pound floats topped by statues of Christian icons) for ourselves.

4. Chocolate Indulgence at ChocoMuseo
Though many people associate chocolate with producers of artisanal chocolate (which makes sense, as many experts consider the birthplace of chocolate). This chocolate museum in Antigua is a great place to learn about the history of chocolate, as well as getting a hands-on introduction to the production process.
ChocoMuseo offers an array of classes and workshops, as well as free museum tours. The most popular is their Beans-to-Bar Workshop, which is offered three times a day and gives guests a chance to make cocoa tea, European and Mayan hot cocoa, and a box of their own handmade chocolates to take home.
Other offerings include 90-minute and 3-hour cooking classes (with meals included), a 2-hour truffle-making workshop, and a full-day tour that includes visiting a working cacao plantation.

5. Watch Volcan de Fuego Erupt
Antigua has three massive volcanoes that dominate its landscape, with Volcán de Agua to the south of the city and Volcán de Fuego and Acatenango side-by-side to the southwest. Collectively, the later two are known as the La Horqueta complex.
Of these three behemoths, the “Volcano of Fire” (or Chi Q’aq’, which means “where the fire is” in Kaqchikel) is by far the most active. Located less than 0 miles from the city, Fuego lives up to its name by emitting small eruptions of gas and ash approximately every 5 to 20 minutes!
According to most records, it’s been doing this for hundreds of years, since the time of the Spanish conquest of . But occasionally these eruptions (which typically spew andesite and basalt lava) are much bigger, including significant events in June and November of 208.
The first one resulted in nearly 60 deaths and more than 300 injuries, with countless Antigua residents evacuated and the international airport in City closed. The latter eruption led to preventive evacuations of approximately 4,000 people from communities in and around Antigua.
In short, this is not a volcano I would personally be willing to hike, climb, or live anywhere close to. But the summit can be almost breathtakingly beautiful at night, when the fiery glow glimmers against the starry sky.

Vancleavea campi
By Tas Dixon
Etymology: Named after Phillip Van Cleave
First Described By: Long & Murry, 1995
Classification: Biota, Archaea, Proteoarchaeota, Asgardarchaeota, Eukaryota, Neokaryota, Scotokaryota, Opimoda, Podiata, Amorphea, Obazoa, Opisthokonta, Holozoa, Filozoa, Choanozoa, Animalia, Eumetazoa, Parahoxozoa, Bilateria, Nephrozoa, Deuterostomia, Chordata, Olfactores, Vertebrata, Craniata, Gnathostomata, Eugnathostomata, Osteichthyes, Sarcopterygii, Rhipidistia, Tetrapodomorpha, Eotetrapodiformes, Elpistostegalia, Stegocephalia, Tetrapoda, Reptiliomorpha, Amniota, Sauropsida, Eureptilia, Romeriida, Diapsida, Neodiapsida, Sauria, Archosauromorpha, Crocopoda, Archosauriformes, Eucrocopoda, Proterochampsia?, Doswelliidae?
Status: Extinct
Time and Place: 228 to 203.6 million years ago, in the Norian of the Late Triassic
Vancleavea is best known from the Petrified Forest in Arizona and Ghost Ranch in New Mexico, but is found throughout the Chinle Formation in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Utah in the southern United States. It is also known from the Tecovas Formation in Texas, and the Redonda and Bull Canyon Formations in New Mexico.
Physical Description: Vancleavea is a peculiar reptile, even by Triassic archosauromorph standards. It effectively resembles an armoured, scaly eel with tiny legs, a long neck, the tail of a crocodile and a frighteningly fang-toothed skull. The largest complete specimen is approximately 1.2 metres (3.9 feet) long, although isolated pieces from other specimens indicate it could grow larger. Most of its body is covered in an array of overlapping bony osteoderms that come in 5 different shapes on the main body, throat, underbelly, limbs and tail (as well as possibly some strange spike-like osteoderms of unknown position). Uniquely, the osteoderms on the tail are tall and flat from side to side, forming a tall fin along the top of the tail for swimming. No other tetrapod—except for the closely related Litorosuchus—has a tail fin like this (usually they are made of tall neural spines from the tail bones).
Vancleavea’s skull is also unusual, as it is very robust and solid, despite the relatively thin and pointed snout. The back of the skull is boxy and has completely closed over the upper temporal fenestra, leaving just the very large lower temporal fenestra. The antorbital fenestra in front of the eyes, a typical feature of archosauriform reptiles, has also been lost, and the snout is short with nostrils that point directly upwards. The jaw bones of Vancleavea are heavily pitted and have a rough texture, which combined with the large teeth imply Vancleavea lacked lips and had exposed fangs, similar to crocodiles. Vancleavea had three fangs on each side of its jaws, one at the front, one on the lower jaw, and another on the upper jaw behind the bottom fang. The dentary fang slotted into a gap in the upper jaw when the mouth was closed, again similar to crocodiles.
The body of Vancleavea is long and tubular, enhanced by both the unusually long neck and the small size of its limbs. It’s unlikely Vancleavea’s limbs were strong enough to lift its body off the ground on land, and in fact the forelimb is so reduced that the shape of some its finger bones suggests it had even lost the claws on its hands. All in all Vancleavea is very clearly built to be semi-, if not almost entirely, aquatic, swimming with a sinuous, eel-like motion and rarely crawling onto land, perhaps only to lay its eggs.
Diet: The massive, serrated fangs and conical teeth indicate Vancleavea was carnivorous, likely feeding on fish and other aquatic prey, such as small temnospondyl amphibians.
Behavior: Vancleavea is almost certainly semi-aquatic, using its deep, finned tail to scull through the water similar to living crocodilians. It’s speculated that Vancleavea lived as an ambush predator, lunging forward to snag prey in its fangs. It lived in slow-moving freshwater environments, and its elongated, sinuous body would have been perfect for winding through plants and logs and other obstacles in the water.
Ecosystem: Vancleavea is known from much of the Chinle Formation, one of the most well known Late Triassic formations in the world, and its longevity means that it coexisted with a wide variety of other animals. There were of course the dinosaurs, including the likes of Coelophysis, Chindesaurus and Daemonosaurus, along with other dinosauriforms such as silesaurids and the lagerpetid Dromomeron, as well as early pterosaurs. Pseudosuchian archosaurs were incredibly abundant, such as the numerous herbivorous aetosaurs and Revueltosaurus, the dinosaur-like poposauroids including the herbivorous beaked Shuvosaurus and Effigia, as well as the predatory Poposaurus. Rauisuchid pseudosuchians were among the top predators, such as Postosuchus, while small long-legged crocodylomorphs like Hesperosuchus and Parrishia chased after smaller prey. Various other archosauromorphs were present too, including the bizarre drepanosaurs, herbivorous allokotosaurs such as Trilophosaurus and an unnamed azendohsaurid, and the strange armoured Doswellia, possibly Vancleavea’s closest relative. There was even an early turtle, Chinlechelys, one of the earliest known to have a fully formed shell, and a relative of the tuatara, Whitakersaurus. The only definitively known synapsid from the Chinle is the large herbivorous dicynodont Placerias.
In the water, Vancleavea would have coexisted with numerous species of giant phytosaurs—crocodile-like reptiles that may-or-may-not be pseudosuchians—such as Leptosuchus and Machaeoprosopus, as well as the predatory temnospondyl amphibian Anaschisma (formerly known as Koskinonodon). Vancleavea’s heavy armour may have been necessary protection against these predators, which could have had jaws almost as long as it was! Fish were abundant in the freshwater ecosystem, with various ray-finned fish such as the pike-like Saurichthys, the large lungfish Arganodus, freshwater sharks such as Xenacanthus, and even a freshwater coelacanth, Chinlea. Many of these fish grew to as large or larger than Vancleavea, and may have competed with it or even preyed upon it (at least as juveniles).
Vancleavea also coexisted with several other, more mysterious reptiles that are mostly only known from teeth. One of these, Acallosuchus, was discovered close by to the original specimen of Vancleavea. The skull and skeleton were originally suggested to belong to the same animal, but we now know Vancleavea had a very different skull to Acallosuchus. Supposedly its skull was long, pointed and triangular, with a knobbly texture on the bones. I say “supposedly” because the skull disintegrated while it was excavated, and all that’s left is a crude drawing and a few pieces of bone. The identity of Acallosuchus remains a mystery. Other mysterious species that Vancleavea coexisted with are the former ornithischians Tecovasaurus and Crosbysaurus, Colognathus, Palacrodon, the possibly venomous Uatchitodon, and the extremely enigmatic Kraterokheirodon known only from two teeth so unlike any known tetrapod alive or extinct it can only be classified as Amniota incertae sedis! Vancleavea was once in the same boat as all these creatures, known only by pieces of the skeleton and its armour, and with any luck, Acallosuchus and the other mystery creatures will end up like Vancleavea and turn up some complete skeletons one day.
Other: Vancleavea is known from throughout the Chinle Formation and several other localities in the southern US, however, most of these specimens consist of isolated bones and osteoderms. The Chinle Formation covers many tens of millions of years from top to bottom, and it’s unlikely the single species V. campi was that long-lived (its range spans a whole 20 million years!). Variations between some specimens suggest that there may be more diversity within Vancleavea then we currently recognise. However, until better specimens are found and can be compared, we can’t be sure how Vancleavea evolved and changed throughout the course of the Chinle.
Vancleavea has a fairly complicated history, the holotype was first discovered in the Petrified Forest by fossil collector Phillip Van Cleave, who lent it his name, but it wasn’t described and named until 1995 and still only consisted of a fragmentary skeleton. Nearly complete specimens from Ghost Ranch were discovered in 1982, but they wouldn’t be recognised as Vancleavea until decades later. In 2008, new specimens from the Petrified Forest were published, but Vancleavea still had to wait another year before the Ghost Ranch specimens were extensively described and its strangeness could be fully appreciated.
Until recently, Vancleavea was the only known stem-archosaur of its kind known in the world, and its relationship to other archosauriforms was enigmatic. However, the discovery of the closely related Litorosuchus from China indicates that the Vancleavea-family (“vancleaveans”) was indeed more diverse and widespread. Unlike Vancleavea, Litorosuchus was marine, and had a much longer, almost spinosaur-like snout. The position of Vancleavea in the archosauromorph tree is still uncertain, but it has been suggested to be a type of proterochampsian, a group of typically crocodile-like reptiles closely related to archosaurs proper. Particularly, it has been allied to the family Doswelliidae, a peculiar family of proterochampsians with similarly strange armour and skeletons. Regardless of where it truly belongs, Vancleavea is at least generally agreed to be a fairly derived archosauriform, quite close to the crown group of Archosauria, albeit having evolved down a very unusual, unique route all of its own.

Severe storms threaten the South with tornadoes and hurricane-force winds Friday night The area under the threat of severe weather spans from southeastern Texas through the Florida Panhandle at the Gulf Coast to lower Michigan. The greatest threat will be in parts of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama which the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center (SPC) labeled a level 4 out of 5, or “moderate risk.” This includes Jackson, Mississippi and Monroe, Louisiana. “Significant severe storms, including widespread damaging winds, and at least a few tornadoes are expected across portions of northeast Louisiana into Mississippi, especially overnight,” said the SPC. The SPC is also warning that some areas, especially those in the region labeled “moderate risk,” could experience hurricane-force winds, which are winds of at least 74 mph. The overnight hours will be of most concern for these dangerous storms, but the threat will begin earlier in the day. During the day Friday, there will be rounds of showers and thunderstorms across the Southeast, with some of these possibly turning severe. The main threats posed by these storms are hail and wind. Severe storms were beginning to break out acros the South as of Friday afternoon. The SPC has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana, in effect until 6 pm CDT. A separate watch is in effect until 7 pm CDT for central Alabama. The SPC anticipates multiple lines of storms to form in this region, so even though there could be storms as early as Friday afternoon, the severe risk will continue well into Friday night. By Friday evening, scattered storms are forecast to also form further east into Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee, and unfortunately the worst of the storms could happen after sunset. “While tornadoes are possible, it appears the straight line winds will be the primary concern,” said the National Weather Service office in Jackson, Mississippi. “Having said that, there could be swaths of wind damage that resemble EF-0 to EF-1 type (tornado) damage, so folks should certainly take the wind threat seriously.” The rest of the South could also deal with several rounds of strong storms. The weather won’t clear up until early Saturday morning west of the Mississippi River while locations east of there will likely still be stormy. Threat shifts east Saturday The storm system triggering this anticipated severe weather outbreak will continue to trek east, forcing the thunderstorms to move east as well. The severe weather threat will shift more toward the Southeast on Saturday. With many severe weather setups, the strong storms occur typically late in the day, but we could see persistent, threatening storms Friday night continuing into Saturday. On Saturday, the area most at risk for severe weather will be near the Gulf Coast. This includes cities such as Montgomery and Mobile in Alabama and Pensacola, Florida, in the level 3 out of 5, “enhanced risk.” There is also the risk for a few strong storms farther north across the Southeast and even as far north as Chicago and Cleveland. Tornadoes do remain possible, especially near the Gulf Coast. The storms by this point in time will likely have evolved more into a line of storms instead of the multiple lines and supercell thunderstorms, which are the discrete spinning storms, expected Friday into Friday night. By Saturday night, the severe threat will begin to diminish. As the storms near the East Coast in Georgia and the Carolinas, they may dissipate while showers move into central Florida. Rounds of storms could trigger flash flooding This storm system will draw in a good deal of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, allowing for heavy rain to fall from the thunderstorms Friday into Saturday. In some areas, especially centered around Mississippi, multiple occurrences of these heavy storms are anticipated, creating the risk for several hours of potential rainfall rates in excess of 2 inches per hour. Rainfall amounts will be variable, as it depends on the track of the thunderstorms, but generally, 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is forecast for much of the South. The likeliest areas to see totals between two and five inches will be across Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. There will be a period of drier weather for this region by Sunday, but the next chance for rain will likely arrive on Tuesday. Biden approves federal aid for Navajo Nation over COVID-19
Biden approves federal aid for Navajo Nation over COVID-19
United States President Joe Biden has issued a disaster declaration for the Navajo Nation over the coronavirus pandemic, a move that unlocks much-needed federal financial assistance and other support for the Indigenous community.
In a news release on Wednesday, the White House said the approval authorises the distribution of funds under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support the Nation’s efforts to combat COVID-19.
“Federal funding is available to the Navajo Nation and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency protective measures, including direct Federal assistance, for the entire Tribe impacted by COVID-19,” the White House said.
Navajo Nation leaders welcomed the move, which they said had been “long-awaited”.
The declaration includes the issuance of funds under FEMA to support the tribe’s efforts in combating COVID
“Our administration has advocated for the declaration for quite some time. This is a great step forward and now we have to step up our efforts and coordinate with FEMA,” Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez said in a statement.
The Navajo Nation, which spans parts of Arizona, New Mexico and Utah, and counts a population of more than 170,000 residents within that area, has been one of the hardest-hit communities in the southwestern US during the pandemic.
According to the latest figures, there are currently more than 28,000 active cases of COVID-19 on Navajo Nation territory, and 1,032 deaths linked to the coronavirus have been reported to date.
Navajo Nation leaders have imposed a daily curfew from 9pm to 5am in an effort to stem the potential spread of infections.
In its statement, the Navajo Nation said it expects FEMA to help with COVID-19 vaccine distribution and provide medical equipment as well as medical personnel to administer vaccine doses and treat COVID-19 patients.
The Navajo Nation has a daily curfew in place from 9pm to 5am until further notice
The Navajo Nation began receiving vaccination shipments in December amid an alarming rise in cases. On December 3, the Nation sent a formal request to former President Donald Trump to issue a disaster declaration and provide federal assistance to the community.
“We have been in a state of emergency since the pandemic began here on the Navajo Nation, but that has now elevated to a major health care crisis,” Nez, the president, said in a statement at that time.
How much funding the nation had requested – and how much FEMA will now dispense after Biden’s order – was not specified on Wednesday.
“Navajo leaders have worked diligently to safeguard elders and other tribal members while working closely with partners to strengthen testing, deliver PPE and life-sustaining supplies, ensure medical treatment and now support vaccination efforts,” Robert J Fenton, FEMA’s acting administrator, said in the statement.
“The President’s major disaster declaration acknowledges the Navajo Nation’s ongoing needs, efforts and the strong nation-nation relationship we share,” he said.

@darkmattercoffee Sleep Walk #enpilsen is a collaboration spanning borders. Chicago meets Mexico City, coffee meets Cocoa. Introducing DMC’s partners, La Rifa! La Rifa is a project focused on the transformation of cocoa to chocolate. They started in 2012 with a list of questions based around Mexican Cacao and chocolate. They wondered where the chocolate came from, does the chocolate we eat actually contain cacao? and why was it so difficult to find genuine chocolate in CDMX? These questions sparked their curiosity and started them on their journey to create high quality chocolate. Over the years they have put together a team of like minded individuals and opened up their Chocolateria/Taller in the Juarez neighborhood in CDMX. Here they carry out the production of La Rifa and give workshops to continue reaching more people interested in Mexican cocoa and artisanal chocolate. They have built strong relationships with cocoa producer families like Monica and Margarito, where they receive their cocoa beans that are harvested in agroforestry systems to preserve Mexico's biodiversity and traditional agricultural practices. Their chocolate has gotten them recognition, winning them Silver and Bronze in the Bean to Bar Plain Chocolate Bars division at the International Chocolate Awards in 2017. That same year, their chocolate was used by NOMA in their pop up NOMA Tulum and is now being used in Denmark. In 2018, they toured across the United States and were introduced to the team over at Dark Matter Coffee by their mutual friends S.A.C.R.E.D Agave. Over the last two years they have traveled back and forth from Mexico and Chicago to educate each other on coffee and cocoa. At the start of 2020, Caravanserai, DMC’s 7th location, started carrying La Rifa’s Mexican Drinking Chocolate. The baristas were trained in the craft of aerating cocoa to make the same delicious drinks they made in CDMX. To bookend the year, La Rifa and DMC have partnered up to open up their Chocolateria in Pilsen. They will be working together to produce artisanal chocolate here in Chicago using all Mexican Ingredients. (at Pilsen, Chicago) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHX18pXleIT/?igshid=9i2jaywytvhh

Econ 101: Supply and Demand
What does the cost of housing in my city have to do with immigration? A lot.
There is a big controversy in my city –– Beacon NY –– about the pace of gentrification. Many of the concerns raised –– parking, schools, traffic –– have merit, but I would like to debunk an argument being made by many, because it does not pass the Econ 101 test.
Some anti-gentrification advocates are advocating a six-month or one-year moratorium on new development, which may sound attractive. However, it runs counter to basic economics, at least in the case where other factors are unchanged.
Let me explain.
Beacon is a booming location: demand for housing is quite high. (It’s a charming community on the Hudson river and MetroNorth line to NYC, and located at the foot of Mount Beacon, the highest point in the Hudson Highlands. A lovely place.)
So, if the drivers for the demand remain unchanged (for example, there are only so many charming river towns within 60 miles of NYC), and if the town decides to create a halt in new development, what should we expect to happen? It’s Economics 101: Cutting back on supply at a time of high demand will create scarcity, and therefore lead to higher rents and home prices. This will accelerate gentrification, not slow it since existing middle-class homeowners (or banks holding foreclosed properties) will have greater incentives to sell to more well-off gentrifiers, and landlords will be able to raise rents, as well, forcing out additional working-class folk, a trend already well-established in Beacon.
There are other approaches the town might take -- like rent stabilization, and increasing the number of set-aside low-income apartments or homes -- but that’s not my point, today. I am simply arguing Econ 101: you can’t decrease demand by cutting off supply, and I would hope that our town council members would be aware of that.
In the case of immigration, cutting off the supply of low-cost immigrants will not decrease the demand, but the consequences aren’t necessarily higher wages for US workers who would, for example, opt to pick tomatoes. Instead, other consequences are just as likely, for example, higher-priced tomatoes. Or, in the historical case of US banning Mexican farm workers in the ‘60s, the growers had a strong incentive to replace workers with machines:
Binyamin Appelbaum, Fewer Immigrants Mean More Jobs? Not So, Economists Say
When the federal government banned the use of farmworkers from Mexico in 1964, California’s tomato growers did not enlist Americans to harvest the fragile crop. They replaced the lost workers with tomato-picking machines.
The Trump administration on Wednesday embraced a proposal to sharply reduce legal immigration, which it said would preserve jobs and lead to higher wages — the same argument advanced by the Kennedy and Johnson administrations half a century ago.
But economists say the tomato story and a host of related evidence show that there is no clear connection between less immigration and more jobs for Americans. Rather, the prevailing view among economists is that immigration increases economic growth, improving the lives of the immigrants and the lives of the people who are already here.
“The average American worker is more likely to lose than to gain from immigration restrictions,” said Giovanni Peri, an economist at the University of California, Davis.
So arguing against the immigration policy doesn’t mean I don’t want more jobs for Americans: I do. But the way to do that is to create new jobs –– like a huge and long-overdue infrastructure push –– not fiddling around with small potato issues at the margins that don’t even pass the Econ 101 test.

Shower Gel Market - Global Market Outlook, Demand, Key Manufacturers and 2023 Forecast
25 Jun 2019 - The Global Shower Gel Market is estimated to develop at a substantial CAGR for the duration of the prediction. This birth chart report shows the positions of the planets for luz .
The Sun represents vitality, a sense of individuality and outward-shining creative energy.
Sun in Gemini
With the Sun in Gemini, the urge for self-expression is strong. These natives are often just as interested in collecting information as they are in sharing it. Curious to a fault, Geminis have a finger in every pie.
Solar Geminis are flexible and changeable people. Their ability to adapt quickly to new situations generally gains them plenty of friends and social contacts. Usually quite clever and witty, Geminis enjoy intellectual conversations and they are easily bored if they are not getting enough mental stimulation.
Often quite adept at fitting in with others, Geminis easily adopt the moods of those around them. They are friends to people from all walks of life, and are not easily intimidated. Their ability to detach themselves can make Geminis very objective and observant, but a little difficult to get close to. Although they often have many friends, intimacy doesn't come as easily to Solar Geminis.
It can be difficult to know what Gemini really feels at any given moment. They are often very impressionable and scattered. There is usually a nervous air to Geminis that can make more personal characters a little uneasy. It is not always intuitive to trust Geminis to be loyal or to keep secrets. Geminis often flit about, moving quickly and keeping busy every step of the way. Many people with this position of the Sun have gained quite a bit of knowledge in their lifetimes, but they don't often possess specialized knowledge. This is because Geminis have relatively short attention spans. Restlessness is especially common with this position of the Sun.
Usually quite affable, Geminis enjoy the "light" side of life. This tendency to take things lightly makes them quite pleasing to be around; but it can be maddening to people seeking support on the deeper issues in life. Geminis are both interesting and interested. Their wit can be dazzling and their changeability dizzying. At the very least, Geminis will seldom bore you.
Short description:
She is an opportunist. She can express herself easily and learns quickly. She is welcoming and gentle. She likes travel and intellectual work.
Weaknesses: a changeable and diffuse nature. Wastes energy by doing too many things. She lacks persistence in achieving set goals.
Sun in VI
The work that you do, and the services that you offer, are very important to your sense of identity. In order to feel good about yourself, you need to be busy with daily activities and to produce work you can be proud of. Focus on finding a suitable and rewarding avenue for expressing this part of you, being extra careful to choose an occupation in which you can express yourself. You are sensitive to criticism about the work you do, and you work best when you can create your own schedule. Positive feedback for the services you render is important to you, but be careful not to over-identify with the appreciation you receive from others, as your work and your health suffers when you feel under-appreciated. Motivation to do a good job should come from within.
186 Sextile Sun - Moon
Your emotions and your will are at peace with one another, suggesting a rather balanced personality. The "messages" you received in childhood were not contradictory overall, and you have a stronger sense of purpose and appreciation of harmony than most people. You are likely personally popular, mainly because you expect harmony in your relationships. You are attractive to the opposite sex, and your self-confidence and security make you easy to deal with on many levels. Your relaxed, easygoing disposition puts others at ease. You may not be prepared for conflict and you often avoid "rocking the boat". You may acquiesce to others a little too often, if only to maintain a feeling of balance and harmony, as conflict is something you not only dislike, you might fear it. The tendency towards too much acceptance--of the self and of others--is usually present. You must be encouraged to question life, or you run the risk of taking things for granted. Vitality is usually good and quite constant. You are not necessarily hard-driving, unless other indications in the chart point to it, but your constitution is generally strong. At any rate, you are not as prone to the kinds of ups and downs that plague those with challenging aspects between the Sun and Moon. This is because even though your life goals and your emotional needs are different, they are in harmony.
Short description:She has lots of vitality. She likes public life, she is popular and her company is appreciated. She is balanced, at ease with herself and usually gets on very well with her parents.
-113 Square Sun - Saturn
You faced a fair number of challenges in your life, especially in the first half of life, in which your attempts to express your will were often thwarted. There can be a persistent feeling that you don't get what they want in comparison to others. You can feel unlucky at times. Attempts to control your environment, and sometimes others, may be frequent.
You want to be considered an accomplished and important person, and when you face obstacles, you don't always see that you are your own worst enemy. You may long to be considered important in the eyes of the world, yet you harbor fear of success at the same time. You take failures and minor setbacks to heart, and may even practically beat yourself up over them. Self-awareness to the point of real self-consciousness is a possibility. The truth is, nobody holds a microscope over you, except for yourself. A little setback or a faux pas needn't be analyzed to death. Fingers needn't be pointed. No, you didn't make a spectacle of yourself when you made a mistake. You need to stop worrying about always being right, or appearing suave and accomplished. When you ease the pressure you put on yourself, you find that you don't face as many brick walls. It is very much about what you feel you deserve. Deep down inside, if you let yourself truly believe that you deserve happiness and peace of mind, you will find it.You may engage in a lot of self-censoring: "I shouldn't.." is a common censoring mechanism with you. When you express egotism of any form, some part of you feels guilty. As the Sun rules our conscious mind, it does enough censoring on its own. It is the "adult" within us. Saturn, on the other hand, is more like the "parent" within us. We need parents to guide us when we are children, and to some degree as adults, but for the most part, we don't need to be censored indefinitely--something that seems to be the case with Saturn-Sun hard aspects, except that the censoring and parenting is coming from within. Ideally, you eventually learn that the standards you set for yourself are too high, and that may be the reason you seem to hit brick walls. You have a sarcastic sense of humor, a keen intelligence, and the ability to apply caution and strategy. The vitality may suffer, and troubles with the bones, teeth, and circulation may surface, especially at times of stress in your life.
The Moon represents the emotional responses, unconscious pre-destination, and the self-image.
Moon in Aries
Nothing quite happens soon enough with this position of the Moon. There is an inherent impatience with getting what they want. Life is a series of emergencies for Lunar Ariens. They live in the moment and have a hard time waiting for things to happen. Whims of the moment take absolute precedence in their lives. This is a fiery position of the moon. Even if the Sun or rising sign is more low-key, Moon in Aries people possess inner passion and fire. Emotional issues take precedence--there is simply no pussy-footing around when it comes to dealing with the feelings. And, dealing with new sentiments and needs stirs up a huge desire for activity. Moon in Aries has a need for acting out their needs, with no time to waste. It is hard for them to see the long-term, or to wait for things to happen. Instant gratification rules!
Oddly enough, this is a very defensive position of the Moon. These natives take things very personally, and they deal with problems by facing them right away so that they can then get on with other things. Their flare-ups generally end almost as quickly as they started. Lunar Ariens have an unmistakable independent streak. They put themselves right out there in the world, and make an impression in whatever they do. Their self-confidence is actually variable. Although a strong personality is projected, Moon in Aries people go through plenty of ups and downs. Their moodiness is not like Cancer or Pisces moodiness--they don't withdraw into themselves or escape the world when they're down. Instead, they are temperamental. Some might say that people with Moon in Aries actually enjoy trouble and confrontations. Indeed, this position is easily bored with environments that are too peaceful. Their homes--especially their childhood homes--are often battlegrounds. They rule the roost, or at least want to, and are not the most peaceful of folk to live with!
Moon in Aries men and women are prone to have plenty of crushes and other short-lived yet intense desires. "Needs" and "wants" are indistinguishable to Lunar Ariens at any given time. In their minds, what they want is so powerful that it becomes an absolute need. In young adulthood, they can be dangerous with a credit card. Whoever offered the advice to freeze your credit card in a container of water, and then let the block of ice thaw before using the card, unwittingly had people with Moon in Aries in mind. The whole idea was to see if the shopping whim of the moment would pass by the time the card was ready to use. Still, with this scenario, I wouldn't be surprised to see Moon in Aries hacking away at the ice. That is, if Aries actually takes the advice in the first place!
Others will appreciate that people with Moon in Aries rarely sulk or play any drawn-out games of manipulation. You can pretty much know what they want at any given time. They are generally ruled by their own emotional needs, and they're not always as concerned about others' needs during these "emergencies". Somehow, they have people around them scrambling to help them solve their problems. There's an aura of childlike innocence around Lunar Ariens, even when they're getting their way again, that can be charming indeed!
Moon in IV
She likes family life, peace and quiet -- she likes to stay at home, surrounded by loved ones, in agreeable circumstances. Strongly influenced by the mother.
You long for a sense of true belonging, but you may be quite restless in your search. You might change residence frequently, or simply feel the need to make many changes in your home. Moving frequently may be a healthy thing if it keeps you emotionally stimulated, but if you find that you do so on whims and later regret the changes, you might want to treat it as a symptom of emotional unrest--as a sign that you are in a constant search for the perfect mood and setting, when in fact a feeling of belonging should be worked on from the inside out, not the outside in! Some of you might remain rather immature on an emotional level, never wanting to truly grow up and take care of yourself. Attachments to your past, traditions, and family are strong.
-134 Square Moon - Venus
Because you value harmony, you may find yourself giving in to others too easily, especially in the first half of life. Resentment is possible, as you can feel that you are the one who seems to do all the acquiescing. There can be a distinct tendency to become friends (and lovers) with people too readily, simply because there is a strong need for approval and a hunger for receiving affection. As such, you may get involved with people who seem to really like you, and you fail to consider whether you actually like them back! It's somewhat of a weakness, as you are very charmed by the idea that someone seems to really like and appreciate you. Generally, one of your life's lessons is to learn to discriminate more and to get in touch with what you truly want and need. The functions of the Moon (which rules the emotions and feelings, amongst other things) and the functions of Venus (which rules social relationships, harmony, and partnership, amongst other things) are at cross-purposes. When you attempt to feed the needs of one function, it is often at the expense of the other, until you find some sort of balance. This can play out in a variety of ways. For example, there can be conflicts in partnerships about parenting or whether or not to have a family. You may find yourself compromising your own emotional needs in order to find and keep love. Peace and harmony are important to you--perhaps too much so, as you can easily be taken advantage of. Insecurity is something that you need to deal with at some point in your life. Very sensual, you sometimes replace love with food or shopping! You can also be quite sexually active and sometimes quite lustful. You possess a distinct lazy streak. You are capable of working hard, but you truly appreciate luxuriating and enjoying as many pleasures as possible, and self-discipline simply isn't always at your disposal!
Mercury represents communication, Cartesian and logical spirit.
Mercury in Cancer
She communicates with feeling, endearing others with words. She is reflective and has one of the best memories around. She feels people out and is quick to pick up emotions and moods. She is discerning and is full of insight, is lucid, and thinks things through. She likes to please and to create a good impression. There can be a strong tendency to be influenced by those around her.
Mercury in VII
Hates being alone. She has lots of friends, likes to discuss and similarly has a lot of work friends. Likes to write.
You have a great love of debate, if only to get closer to your own thoughts and opinions. Bouncing ideas off others helps you to make a decision, although coming to definite conclusions can be painfully difficult for you. You see the other side of the coin. You might often play devil's advocate. Communication with a partner is craved, and you also love an audience for your own thoughts and opinions, but preferably a one-person audience, as you come alive verbally when it's one-on-one. You can be quite skilled at keeping a partnership animated and alive with interesting tidbits, new ideas, and stimulating conversation. You can easily become bored in partnership if the lines of communication go down, even temporarily. You might also love to talk about and analyze relationships and marriage.
89 Sextile Mercury - Mars
She likes to discuss, likes polemic. She has good judgment and is determined. She is a worker and has lots of energy. She has a lively intelligence and goes to the heart of things. She is enthusiastic, incisive, and energetic in thought and speech.
125 Trine Mercury - Jupiter
She is intelligent, has big ideas: she is tolerant and has a strong sense of justice. She has good judgement, good sense and has her feet on the ground. She has the "gift of the gab", and likes to speak, she also likes literature. She is erudite and will normally be successful socially.
22 Trine Mercury - Saturn
She is or strives to be mentally organized. She is able to study, concentrate, and focus, and often has the patience to work towards a goal slowly but surely. She takes time to get communications "just so" and tends to prefer step by step directions. Respects tradition and rules.
-71 Opposition Mercury - Ascendant
She may criticize and gossip, arguing frequently and ofen nervous. Without even realizing it, she might look for or instigate a verbal battle, and is provoking.
Communication is very important to you, and your mind is sharper and more creative when you have a partner you can bounce your thoughts and ideas off of. You are an excellent conversationalist and can fascinate your partners with your sharp mind. You love to debate issues just for the mental exercise, even if you don't feel strongly about the position you argue! You play devil's advocate often, and your ideal partner understands that your debates are, in fact, mental exercises--certainly not attacks! You are also prone to exaggerate or stretch the truth when trying to make your point, especially when it comes to your own background or experience.
In your close relationships, your partner serves as a mirror, reflecting your thoughts and ideas back to you from a different perspective. You are rather independent and will not allow anyone to restrict your freedom, but you love to talk things out before arriving at a decision. Truth is, you won't always take others' advice! However, you do enjoy looking at problems from all sorts of different perspectives. You may choose partners who are considerably younger than you, or who are not as academically smart as you. Conversations with you are always stimulating and lively. The ability to share your thoughts with a partner is vital to your sense of fulfillment in a close personal relationship.
\r\nVenus represents an interest for emotions and values, exchange and sharing with others.
Venus in Cancer
Love for Venus in Cancer is best when it is committed and rather predictable. These people are sensitive in love, even if their Sun sign is the more playful and outgoing signs of Gemini or Leo. You may even say their egos are a little underdeveloped when it comes to love, but they have a lot to give in return: namely, security, comfort, and care. Venus in Cancer men and women show their love by caring for you. They pay more attention to your feelings than your words, and observe you rather carefully. They want a safe, solid relationship. They can be a little moody in love, and some go so far as giving silent treatments and engaging in pouting routines to get attention from their mate. They are turned off by anything impersonal, and too much rationalizing leaves them cold. They are not afraid of emotional confrontations (even if they have a Gemini Sun and appear flighty in other areas of life). Still, these lovers are always worried they'll be left high and dry. If you've hurt them, they'll have a hard time forgetting. Every so often, they'll retreat into themselves (not unlike a Crab), and it can be difficult to pull them out. This is when they use their extraordinary "nursing" abilities on themselves, instead of you...and you simply don't want that!
Pleasing Venus in Cancer involves lots of snuggling and sentimentality. Recognize their attachments to their family and home. Help them to feel confident with you -- when they are fearful of being rejected, they can resort to some frustrating tactics to find out just how loved they are. Think about how a crab (the symbol of Cancer) moves towards its goal, and you will get a fair idea of Venus in Cancer's approach. Do your best to make them feel secure and cared for, and you will be rewarded with a patient, dependable, and loving mate.
Venus in VII
Her fate depends a lot on marriage. Marries for love, children, happy emotional life.
You live for relationships. It is hard for you to think about being alone. Harmony is most important to you, so it is unlikely you will attempt to dominate a lover. You are a peacemaker, sometimes going to great lengths to achieve a balanced, harmonious relationship. Be careful not to bend over backwards just to keep the peace--you may be taken advantage of. Your marriage partner may be especially attractive, charming, or well off. You are extremely attractive, agreeable, and charming, drawing others to you magnetically. You need an unusual amount of contact and exchange with a partner, and might find that you feel completely lost without one. Some of you might quickly enter into partnerships, perhaps too quickly and neither equipped nor prepared for the responsibilities that a long-term relationship demands. In some cases, there can be a shallow or materialistic interest in partners. Your hips and lower back may be special erogenous zones for you, or they may be especially attractive body parts.
46 Trine Venus - Saturn
She has a good grasp of reality and of duty. She is thrifty, reserved and does not show off. She likes truth and justice. In love, her sentiments are sincere and deep, she never plays false. She is, of course, faithful in love and friendship. She can love a much older person and appreciates her intelligence and good sense.
-56 Opposition Venus - Neptune
She might lack self-confidence and her ideals are not easy to achieve. In love, she is unstable and deceitful or meets people who are like this. She is easy-going and follows others' wishes in love, and she lets the partner take the initiative.
This aspect indicates a suggestible romantic nature. Being "in love with love" is a strong possibility. You are naturally compassionate and are generally willing to go over the top for a loved one. It's hard to say whether your expectations in personal relationships are too high or too low. On the one hand, you tend to easily accept behaviors in your partners that others wouldn't accept, as you are compassionate and even drawn to people who others might consider trouble. On the other hand, your romantic dreams may be so powerful that you are easily disappointed with the reality of relationships. Deception in love is possible, but self-deception is even more likely. In love, you see what you want to see, rather than what is. Feelings of being used or deceived may come up. However, if a distinct pattern exists in your love life that involves you being let down, deceived or used, it will be especially worthwhile to examine whether self-deception was at work.
The possibility of clinging to romantic delusions is very high with this position. For example, some with these aspects cling to a romantic notion that someone loves them when in reality that person doesn't return the affection. Or, they may cling to a romance that has lost all hope. Another possibility is devoting their love to someone who is unattainable or who is unable to commit. Yet another Venus-Neptune scenario is loving someone who treats them badly, all the while clinging to an idealized image of the partner. No matter what the scenario, romantic yearning and longing, as well as delusion, tends to be the theme. The expectation here is that loving someone requires self-sacrifice. The result is an attraction to relationships that are co-dependent and even abusive. Venus-Neptune people are drawn to victim/savior relationships, and they can play either the role of victim or savior! Dependency or neediness in a partner can be confused for love. In an attempt to love unconditionally, you may too readily sacrifice your own needs and eventually feel used.
\r\nMars represents the desire for action and physical energy.
Mars in Taurus
"Slow and steady wins the race" could easily be a motto for Mars in Taurus. These goal-oriented people are not known for their speed, but their staying power is tremendous. Generally calm and easygoing people, Mars in Taurus natives can have powerful tempers when they're overly provoked. They generally don't fly off the handle as quickly as others, however (unless Aries is prominent in their chart). Mars in Taurus people value strength and stability. They are driven by security and an especial fondness for personal possessions. Most are not afraid to work for what they want, and there is an overall patience to this position of Mars. If it takes a few years to achieve their goals, so be it. People born under a Mars in Taurus are often rather sensual people. Some are slow to arousal, but theirs is an earthy and powerful sensuality.
Most have well-defined long-term goals and the determination to achieve them. They usually are not the type of people to take on too many projects at once. If they don't think they can do it, they won't! It is almost impossible to get these people moving once they've made up their minds on a matter. You want them to go shopping with you? Unfortunately for you, about half an hour back, they've kicked up their heels, changed into something comfortable, and they simply won't budge. Immovable is the only way to describe Mars in Taurus people who have made up their minds. Adaptability is not their strong point. In a similar vein, attempting to rush Mars in Taurus people is a lesson in frustration. They won't alter their pace for most anything. If you can get past these "quirks", however, you'll find that Mars in Taurus natives are often quite reliable and strong personalities. It may just be worth the wait!
Mars in IV
Quick decisions, she has a lot of things on her plate and wants to climb the social ladder. She will succeed through phenomenal work-rate. Stormy family life, where her aggressiveness shows itself.
-113 Opposition Mars - Jupiter
She refuses to accept any guidance. She lacks forethought, acts impulsively and sometimes imprudently, which can cause problems. She wants everything yesterday and uses whatever means necessary to achieve her objectives, even if they are dishonest or not very commendable. Her emotional life is fraught with quarrels and sometimes violent conflicts.
34 Sextile Mars - Saturn
She is energetic and determined. She has strength and resistance, ability and patience: she is tough, and sometimes insensitive, and puts all her energy and talents into overcoming all the obstacles to her success. She is obstinate, calculating, does not take on anything without having thought of all the possible consequences, she can take all the time in the world and never loses patience to achieve her objectives. She is not particularly popular in her circle, but is feared and respected.
1 Trine Mars - Ascendant
Jupiter represents expansion and grace.
Jupiter in Scorpio
She attracts the most good fortune when she puts her "all" into a project or undertaking, and uses her magnetic powers to heal others. Enthusiastic for deeper studies and meanings, all that is taboo or mysterious, psychology. Values decisiveness, intensity, willpower, commitment, and strength. Very strong problem solver who cuts to the chase. Science and research may be prosperous avenues.
Jupiter in X
She cannot adapt to a humdrum or an uncertain life. She likes comfort. She can move towards a managerial position, of prestige. Her success follows on from that of the parents or in her home town.
20 Trine Jupiter - Saturn
She is serious, patient, honest, hard-working, orderly. Her judgment is good and she thinks things over. She pursues her objectives to the bitter end, usually knowing when to choose the right moment. She is upright and respects the law.
Saturn represents contraction and effort.
Saturn in Pisces
Misanthropic, with a sullen humor. She likes to live in solitude, in contemplation. Likes to work alone.
Saturn in III
Her studies will be restricted. She is serious, discrete. She takes on mental tasks that require time and concentration. She travels little even though she likes it. She has few friends, who are, however, very close.
Uranus represents individual liberty, egoistic liberty.
Uranus in Capricorn
A great battler. She has so much power, that one thinks nothing can defeat her. Her mission in society, in the world means everything to her.
Uranus in I
She is above all independent and original. Sometimes blunt and irritable. Never lets herself be influenced. She does not tolerate any sort of setback. She is ready for adventure, even though it's risky.
Uranus in the first house alters the way an individual projects personal energies onto others. You are likely to seek, nay demand, freedom in the way you present yourself to the world. Dressing simply but quirkily, you will have no problems in asserting yourself. You are not shy in letting everyone know where you stand on issues. In fact you take pride in presenting your unique perspective. "I am a simple soul with few wants and needs," is what you tell yourself. All you can feel is an altruistic desire to change the world! Friends and relatives probably find you a trifle erratic. They know you to be good-hearted and genuine about your feelings. Your passions rise fast and you lose interest at the same rate.
142 Conjunction Uranus - Neptune
111 Sextile Uranus - Pluto
She fights to improve her daily life, she is persevering.
Neptune represents transcendental liberty, non-egoistic liberty.
Neptune in Capricorn
She is discerning, wise and sensible.
Neptune in I
She is intuitive, sensitive. Not a fighter and is indecisive. May have some identity problems until she decides on a more spiritual or artistic path. May be psychic or simply strongly intuitive. Gentle and yielding.
31 Sextile Neptune - Pluto
Pluto represents transformations, mutations and elimination.
Pluto in Scorpio
Great sexual activity.
House I is the area of self identity. The ascendant is a symbol of how one acts in life. It is the image of the personality as seen by others, and the attitude that one has towards life.
Ascendant in Capricorn
There's a seriousness to Capricorn rising people that is unmistakable. Even when they're joking around, it's of the deadpan variety. In fact, plenty of very humorous people have Capricorn Ascendants. It's all in the timing...and the fact that they don't giggle before the joke is over. Capricorn Ascendant people project competence. They simply ooze it. They're generally very image-conscious people--the clothes they wear and their manner are a big deal to them. They want to appear successful, and they generally succeed! Often the Ascendant persona is the one that was forced upon us by family conditioning. For example, parents may label their Libra Ascendant child the "nice" one; their Aries Ascendant child the "independent" one; and their Pisces Ascendant child is generally the space cadet of the family. We adopt these roles as familiar ones, and often carry them with us as our defense mechanisms, in some way or another, for the rest of our lives. In the case of Capricorn Ascendants, these were the children who were considered the responsible ones. Sometimes, it was they themselves who looked around them and felt the need to be the structured, dependable, and responsible members of the family. So, often, Capricorn rising people adopted a strong sense of tradition, family, and responsibility at a very young age.
Capricorn rising people are generally big on family, and forever worry about security--for themselves and their dependents. They come across to others as hard-working, competent, and dependable people. What others may not see under that cool, even suave, exterior, is an inner struggle: they often ask themselves, "Am I doing enough?", "Do I deserve all of this?", "How can I make things better?" They worry a lot about the future. If success seemed to have come easy to these folks, it hasn't. They just made it look that way with a patient, hard-working, driven personality. Some Capricorn rising people practice some form of self-denial. They know how to do away with the frivolous. Still, they'll spend money on the clothes they really want (the ones with the right labels, that is), and other status symbols. Although they're rarely showy, their quiet air of success is often a result of conscious effort. More often than not, Capricorn rising individuals are success stories. Their childhoods may have been difficult, but they slowly but surely turn their lives around. Saturn rules this Ascendant, and this generally means a kind of backwards way of living--as children, they are serious and bear a lot of responsibility; and as they grow up, they age beautifully, learning how to loosen up.
House II is the area of material security and values. It rules money and personal finances, sense of self-worth and basic values, personal possessions.
House II in Aquarius
Success in professional life won't take place without the help of friends and protectors. While she might earn enormous amounts, she can lose as much if not even more. Best financial success through networking with others. Might succeed in business on the internet. Most profitable businesses may be unusual or innovative ones. Efforts should be made to better organize finances.
House III is the area of social and intellectual learning.
House III in Pisces
Ideas are somewhat changeable, and her humor as well. Travel, sea voyages or work connected with the sea.
House IV is the area of home, family, roots, and deep emotions/sense of self-worth.
House IV in Aries
Lots of authority within the family. She knows how to take the destiny of the family in hand. She is very energetic, very strong, knowing how to cope with life's setbacks.
House V is the area of creative self-expression, romance, entertainment, children, and gambling.
House V in Taurus
A pleasant home, a charming husband, loving and sweet children, nice little meals, pleasant evenings with the loved one, that's the good life.
House VI is the area of learning by material transaction.
House VI in Gemini
Good secretary, or equally good sales rep. Weak point: the nerves, sometimes also the lungs.
House VII is the area of one-to-one relationships such as marriage and partnership, and of social and intellectual action.
House VII in Cancer
Marriage, a nice little family. The spouse will not always be easy to live with, a little too mad.
House VIII is the area of emotional security and of security of the soul.
House VIII in Leo
Have regular check-ups on the heart and arteries.
House IX is the area of learning that shapes the identity.
House IX in Virgo
She is devoted to all causes that bring comfort or help to people in difficulty.
House X is the area of material action. The Mid-heaven represents the work one will do in his life, the place one will take in the world of society. It becomes more important as one grows older
House X in Libra
Contacts of all kinds will lead to social success, professional, through marriage etc... Likes society life, friendships that could help professionally. Sometimes jobs connected with justice, but always involved with important and influential people.
House XI is the area of search for social and intellectual security.
House XI in Scorpio
Adores to debate endlessly with friends who don't share her ideas. The discussion can lead to words, even a certain verbal violence.
House XII is the area of education and of emotion.
House XII in Sagittarius
Problems abroad, or with foreigners, or flight abroad, exile.

Meet DSMP, an Alternative, Indie Version of a Luxury Group – WWD
https://pmcwwd.files.wordpress.com/2020/07/liberal.jpg?w=640&h=415&crop=1
Luxury groups assemble to take advantage of synergies and scale — and typically the main, cash-cow brands can help fund smaller ones in development.
Consider Dover Street Market Paris — a clutch of young, quirky labels operating under various business arrangements — an alternative version, with a strong independent streak.
“I don’t want to become LVMH, but I want to be a new fashion group where there’s synergies and accidents,” Adrian Joffe, chief executive officer of Dover Street Market and president of Comme des Garçons International, said this week.
His language echoed Rei Kawakubo’s original description for her Dover Street Market retail emporiums — “beautiful chaos” — as does the Dover Street Market Paris showroom at 6 Place Vendôme, where skater style, California cool and youthful angst co-mingle under brass chandeliers and intricate 18-century mouldings.
While not on the official calendar for the first online edition of Paris Fashion Week, the four brands under the DSMP umbrella — Paccbet, Youths in Balaclava, Liberal Youth Ministry and ERL Eli Russell Linnetz — all produced spring 2021 collections, along with videos and lookbooks. The physical showroom is receiving European buyers until July 24, while North American and Asian retailers can place orders using a virtual showroom.
Honey F–-king Dijon, a collection by the Berlin-based DJ, also falls under DSMP. DSMP is wholly owned by Comme des Garçons, but it doesn’t own the brands under its umbrella. Rather it helps nurture original products, and takes care of brand development, production and distribution.
Joffe trumped healthy growth for Paccbet, now carried in about 100 stores worldwide, including many specialty skate shops. Found in 2016, by Gosha Rubchinskiy, an alumnus of Comme des Garçons, and professional skater Tolia Titaev, the Moscow-based brand delved into Eighties gym culture for its latest collection, which spans baggy shorts, patched-up pants, classic training gear and T-shirts covered in Russian mottos and the occasional female bodybuilder.
ERL, only presenting its second full collection, is already sold in 45 doors, and founder Linnetz is plotting his first fragrance later this year. In sync with a collection rooted in Venice Beach, Calif., it will be called Sunscreen. An art director and photographer known for his collaborations with Lady Gaga and Grimes, Linnetz shot the lookbook in a style reminiscent of the slyly homoerotic Seventies magazine After Dark.
Comme des Garçons produces the ERL collection, leveraging its network of factories in France, Portugal and Turkey. The spring collection, anointed “Endless Summer,” includes buttery soft hoodies in sun-bleached colors with tie-dye insets, terry-cloth pullovers in groovy wallpaper prints and some spectacular puffer jackets, one with a degrade sunset motif.
Joffe, who scours the world for fresh fashion talent, noted that huge distances between the four designers haven’t stopped them from helping each other.
Antonio Zaragoza, the designer of Guadalajara, Mexico-based Liberal Youth Ministry, introduced his jewelry manufacturer to Singapore-based Youths in Balaclava, and one of his fabric suppliers to Russia’s Paccbet.
“That’s exactly the kind of synergy I was hoping for,” said Joffe, who let slip that he plans to put two more brands under the DSMP umbrella later this year.
To be sure, his young designers are plugged into the zeitgeist. Zaragoza’s spring collection, “Ethnic Adolescent,” drew inspiration from youth culture from the time of the Aztecs through the Sixties, while Youths in Balaclava celebrated the transgressive style and avant-garde of musician Genesis P-Orridge, who died earlier this year.
Zaragoza said he has been “nourished” by sharing ideas and challenges with his peers.
“Being all together with so many different backgrounds and different countries and all together clashing, it’s just wonderful. I have learned a lot — from the business to the creative way on making collections.”
He also lauded the backup of DSMP and Comme des Garçons. “It’s really inspiring the way they push everything with freedom and a kind of rebellious vibe,” he said.

2011 Global Economic Outlook
http://topicsofnote.com/?p=4760&utm_source=SocialAutoPoster&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Tumblr
"The era of good feelings associated with the heyday of globalization has gone forever," say top economists. I will agree and believe this is an entirely good thing that will enable our shattered world to recover from a devastating global recession. Often times we mix up what feels good at the time with what is the right course of action over the long term. The great recession has taken its last breath but has taught us a great many valuable lessons during its pre-destiny and ultimate reign. The main lesson being that open competition is good. Once we start regulating how much we can achieve we start sabotaging our own continued growth and prosperity. Linking a global currency to a global government would have been a catastrophe. I'm glad that the wise and learned have taken this lesson out of the tragedies of the past 3 years.
Recovery will continue to be slow around the world, but we are in a state of recovery nonetheless. The biggest difference from days past will be which countries will lead the charge to mending our torn financial fabric. In this edition be prepared for some surprise trends and projections unlike many are foreseeing. I caution you however as you digest this information that you may think I'm totally off my rocker on some of my predictions, but recall, I was almost entirely correct about last year winners and losers. I will begin evaluating several countries and then streamline my analysis with industries to watch. Happy New Year and good health in 2011.
CONDITION OF THE US
US academics are projecting a 3.4% growth in the US this year. I will disagree. My mark for US growth in 2011 will top off at 1.5% but we are most likely to experience a 0.9% growth by year end December 31st 2011. The US is riding high after strong 2010 end of year retail figures rose by 3.1% over 2009 but it is overlooking that the expectation was at 3.4% and November figures were a full 2.1% higher than December. The trend should have been been reversed to justify complete optimism in a stronger growth pattern. Economic growth and sales will also continue to weaken as inventory cycles top out.
Meanwhile, households and banks are still fixing their balance sheets and will keep a wary eye on credit expansion further crippling any long-term sustained growth above 1.5%. Banks will loosen credit by the third quarter of 2012.
Further, the dark cloud of unemployment still looms heavy over the United States horizon. Consequently, corporate gains should peak in the first quarter and then level off as high unemployment and consumer confidence subside and take their toll on the momentum of profit increases by businesses. Indeed the unemployment rate in the US fell in December; However the 103,000 jobs that were created last month are well short of the 200,000 per month figure needed to sustain stronger growth and lasting improvements to an economic condition. Our average pace for job creation last year was 94,000 per month. Moreover, 8.4 million jobs were shed over the span of the last 3 years, but only 1.1 million were added in the private sector. Government expansion does not contribute to an economic recovery, neither has it done so historically nor will it do so in the future.
Though in fact, the government has itself cut 20,000 jobs last month. At December's employment pace, it will take until 2016 to make up for the jobs lost and finally establish a balance in the marketplace. As of today, 6.76 million Americans have stopped looking for work and in a recent survey say they will not look until the middle of next year. With those not receiving unemployment and those who have forgone the application thereof altogether our real national unemployment figure is closer to 10.8% as opposed to the public figure of 9.4%. Though, recovery in the US will be faster than 2016, I anticipate tolerable levels of employment by the end of 2012. However, we expect a 5.8% decrease in average salaries from $ 50,303 to $ 47,382 by this time.
CLASH WITH CHINA
Continued conflicts with China will further hinder US economic expansion. In addition to the gap between political ideologies the following factors will heighten the tensions between the two nations. First, the rise of China is becoming associated associated with job losses for ordinary Americans and a rising threat to American power. Second, China's currency policy which is aimed at keeping the Yuan undervalued against the dollar will further aggravate trade relations between the two nations and protectionist legislation in the US will rise sharply. The move to make the Yuan (renminbi) a global currency for international trade has already begun. It has launched trading of it in the US. Third, the Chinese military buildup in the Pacific has gotten the US business population and governing bodies on edge and up in arms. The J-20, a new Chinese stealth fighter has just debuted on the global stage. In response the US will step up military exercises in the region opening the doors to economic policies as the weapon of choice. Additionally, China's continued reluctance to tighten the squeeze on Iran while instead pursuing their own energy strategies will further harm relations with the US.
China's economy will see an 8.4% growth in GDP but look for hostilities between the Communist party and the rising tide of young intellectuals from within who disagree with the current order. The US will be blamed for this movement. China will engineer a slowdown in the Asian markets.
ASIA
Uzbekistan will lead Asia in economic growth this year with an 8.5% increase, followed by China then India with a GDP of 8.2% and we will see inflation in India begin to fall back to normal levels from last year 10% to about 6.4%. Afghanistan holds a commanding fourth place in Asia with my prediction of a 7.2% growth this year, followed by Sri Lanka at 6.6%, Indonesia at 6%, and Kazakhstan at 5.5%. Australia will be a safe place to put money as it is expected to achieve a 2.6% growth this year.
MIDDLE-EAST AND AFRICA
This region's predictions bear the most surprises of all. Ethiopia will carry the torch for the Mid-East and North Africa with a solid 10% GDP this year; it will be followed by Tanzania at 7.1%, Angola at 7%, Iraq with 6%; Lebanon with 5.8% despite the government collapse last week, and Syria with 4.6%. The Gulf States will remain solid hovering at an average 3%...GDP, but the greatest gains will be made with the countries mentioned hereto.
EUROPE
Europe is a battered child that will require a great deal of rehabilitation for the next five years. It will demonstrate the least impressive gains next to North America but leading the pack will be Russia with a 4% GDP improvement over last year. Ukraine will be firmly on Russia's heels with a 3.9% GDP, trailed by Turkey at 3.6%, Poland at 3.4%, Estonia with 3.2%, Latvia 3%, Lithuania with 2.9%. Greece will play the largest role in stifling the European economy as a whole with a negative growth of -3.5%, Portugal will play second anchor with a negative growth of -1%. Germany, the Netherlands, France and Switzerland will stay fast with a GDP figure lingering between a 1% to 1.6% growth pattern.
LATIN AMERICA
Chile will champion the greatest growth in the Latin American economies, though smaller in size then Brazil will outpace it by 1.2% growth reaching 5.7% by year end. Brazil will experience the second greatest growth with 4.5%, followed by Colombia at 4.4%, but tied with Paraguay and Peru for second place. Colombia will grow at the same pace as Uruguay.
Mexico will expand its economy by 3.5% by the middle of the year but will soften in response to slower US growth to 3% by December 31st.
Overall global GDP growth will be a strong and promising 4%, while World trade growth will exceed 6% to 6.3%. We can attribute this to the rise in trade with emerging markets including India, North Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and segments of Latin America.
INDUSTRY STRENGTH
Banking Western banks will continue to shed jobs amid tightened fiscal policies in these territories while China and Hong Kong are expected to boost their workforces in three quarters of their banks. Lending will remain slow with a net overall increase in lending of 1.3% in the US. Industry Strength - Weak
Real-estate The worst may be over for this sector but recovery to pre 2006 levels is still a good 3 years away. Commercial rents will fall across all categories in the US with industrial being the worst hit and retail sites the least hit. In some parts of Europe commercial property prices will fall another 15% and housing prices in the US will slip another 7%. Industry Strength - Weak
Travel and Tourism The travel industry will experience a 5% rise in international tourist travel, France will see the largest gain in visitors. Leisure travel is still expected to bounce back faster than business travel as I expect business travel rates will take at least another 3 years before returning to pre-2008 levels. Revenue per available room in the US will climb by at least 6.7% this year taking a commanding position ahead of any other country. Industry Strength - Good
Health Care Global health care spending as a share of GDP will increase to 9.9% though the US is expected to outlay nearly 16.2% of its GDP far outpacing the rest of the world as health care costs rise due to sweeping legislation passed last year.
Luxury Spending on luxury items will increase by 4%. Industry Strength - Good
Food and Farming Expect overall food prices to increase by 5% this year due to supply disruptions and health department regulations. Wheat prices will increase by approximately 8%. Sugar prices will drop by 10%, and coffee prices will decline by 5%. Good news for coffee lovers. Industry Strength - Mild
Entertainment Television and movie enterprises will experience a 5% and 7% increase in demand this year respectively while music and digital music outlets will expand by a mere.5%. Actors are more likely to find work in 2011 than musicians. Industry Strength - Mild
Information Technology Far and wide, IT is the most stable industry to enter into in 2011. Hardware purchases will slow to 7% from 10% but will remain strong for the duration of the year. Software services will increase by 4% while spending on IT will increase to 4.6% for a total industry capitalization of $ 2 trillion. Industry Strength - Strong
CONCLUSION
I've made some bold and perhaps at times controversial predictions above. This coming year will not be without its challenges, as with all years. In some instances over the course of 2011 some of us may experience anxieties about the uncertainties we will undoubtedly face as we try to make sense of all the "expert" predictions for the future. But we must remember that as leaders it is imperative that we listen to and consider all opinions, while remaining true to ourselves, our values, our beliefs and focusing on our business' core strengths. It has become incumbent upon us that we continue to move forward with realistic expectations until the tea leaves change and the dust from this calamitous crisis finally settles. As I embarked upon bringing all this information together for you it was my hope that I could at least present a practical foundation to stand upon as we spy out into the ever-changing world and scan the horizons for an indicator of what's to come.
War will break out in 2011, there is no question, but it will not be a war fought with conventional weapons or nuclear missiles. It will be a war of ideologies that will test the constitution of the greatest countries on the planet. It will test the resolve of every individual seeking to gain a fundamental understanding and clarity of what is to become of our world. The answer is not to dig our heels down into the ground and wait for another storm to come. The answer is to venture out into the unknown and siphon as much knowledge as we can from the resources around us to make an educated, realistic and commonsensical decision that will finally set the wheels of the global community right. None of us that has ever achieved greatness has done so while waiting on the porch for someone to come and tell them the coast is clear. For I venture to say that the coast will be whatever we make of it, it is after all our coast. But before we can make any decision, we must be armed with knowledge, information, patience and a firm resolve in order to succeed and weather any potential storms ahead.
Wishing you a blessed New Year for 2011. Good luck in forging your roads.
