Tagging (So that it actually works)
Okay, so I think I just sorted my tagging issue, thanks to some help from @your-nanas-house. Putting this post up for @kiss-me-cill-me and @rysko who were asking and anyone else who might find this information useful.
I believe that, in order to ensure the tag works, you have to click the autofill result for their name instead of simply typing or copy/pasting.
Some of you also haven't been tagged because for whatever reason your name doesn't show up on the autofill results when you type "@[your username]. (More on the potential causes of this in the Notes section.)
That being said, sometimes it does work when you copy/paste a name. But it doesn't seem to be gauranteed. How exactly this works, I don't know, but I do know a couple ways to check to see if someone has been tagged in a post that has been published.
~ On Desktop ~
Hover over the tag with your cursor; it should show a preview to their blog. Note that even if the blog is underlined, the only way it seems to be sure is to check if you get this preview!
~ On Mobile ~
Above is a screencap from my mobile device on Tumblr, using dark mode. I don't know how it looks on other themes; for all you psychopaths who don't use dark mode, I am sorry but you are on your own on account of my laziness, but if anyone knows, please feel free to pile on or let me know and I can add it to the post! (I don't want to test every single theme.)
BUT, provided you are using dark mode, anyway, tags that work should be grey and NOT underlined. Tags that don't register as tagged will be white as seen above.
~ Notes ~
TIP: When you are typing the tag, it should also underline in your draft. But it doesn't always tag the person and you should do one of these checks, depending on if you're on mobile or desktop (tipception: it's a LOT easier on mobile because you can just take a quick peek).
Also, some blogs CANNOT be tagged due to their blog settings. There is a lovely post here made by @that-damn-girl that explains how to fix this and offers a couple other tips if you're still finding you can't be tagged.
If anyone has anything to add or I missed anything, please let me know! Maybe I am a caveman when it comes to this stuff and a bunch of you guys already knew this stuff, but this in case anyone wasn't aware and are fellow cavemen like me, here's what I've learned. <3
