actually speaking of it's kinda wild that lifeguards are only on minimum wage when in a single shift we can be (legally) responsible for the health and well-being of upwards of 300 people, as well as all the cleaning of the pool and changing room areas

#obviously usually there's a manager and (hopefully) another lifeguard on shift so you split the sessions on pool and cleaning #but we're first aiders who require in person training each month - every 2 years we redo our entire qualification in a 3 hour exam #like if something goes wrong and we don't spot it quickly enough we could literally be risking prison time #and im not saying that as ohhh poor lifeguards but more I think there should be higher standards for hiring and training #idk same goes for careworkers tbh like you're looking after people's lives #<- tho im an advocate for a living wage for everyone regardless of people's perceived skills and responsibilities
