(make it angsty and extra painful please and thank you, i lov ur headcanons)

hey!! honestly i kinda struggled trying to figure out how i should make this ~super angsty~ and i was slightly confused in how to interpret this prompt, so i hope my interpretation is satisfactory! this is such a clever prompt, thank you! (and thank you for supporting me!!)

[for this headcanon, lets assume that upon turning into a demon, its hard for mc to access memories from being human... and that their demon form isnt as human as the brothers. also i didnt know how dark you wanted it but tw for blood and death/violence descriptions!]

with trust, diavolo sends his best companion to investigate the mystery

he studies the day before on recent locations to get an idea of where this demon might be

he leaves the house early next morning heading to the last known location of the demon

it stood as if it were searching for yet another victim to tempt, and lucifer decided to make it known of his presence

“there is no way i, lucifer, could lose to something you, so maybe itd be wise to admit youve lost”

but allowing the demon to hear his name was a mistake, as it screaming his name sent him flying an acre

the only time he has ever felt power that strong was from your pact

it became very clear to him that not only you were the corrupted demon that stood before him, but also the pact you two shared was not tainted

lucy knew he was at an unfair disadvantage, but his pride couldnt let him flea

“end me right here if you must, mc, but at least ill die fighting”

hes terrified, but since lucifer is busy, he decided to handle it for him

he sent a few of his crow familiars to investigate where the demon was last, and proceeded to go to that location

“hey, uh, i dont think its wise for ya to be tempting humans, yanno”

upon meeting, he realises theres something off... he almost feels connected to it

but he decides to ignore the feeling

until he notices the demon wearing a ring he once gave you

mammon knew you felt familiar

but he learned fairly quickly the familiarity wasnt mutual when the demon punched his chest hard enough to shatter some ribs

you didnt care enough to fight him any more, and for some reason, that hurt him more

that made him quite excited

satan feels as if hes solved the case, but he still has to take the demon back to custody

the demon turns to his direction and he sees a faded pact mark of his on skin that used to be human

satan tried backed away but the demon managed to pierce through his stomach with its finger

hes never once shown any hostility towards you... but he now knows youre really not you anymore

and as he lay on the ground coughing up blood, he regrets showing peace

all of the reports regarding the demon making humans fall into their temptation were from the same location, so he heads there

he sits on a curb in the near vicinity waiting for any sign of movement

when he hears the sound of growls approaching, asmo puts down the majolish magazine he was reading and gets up with a smile

“wow, a fiesty one are you! we cant have you causing more damage so if youd just look into my eyes, thatd be wonderful!”

asmos smile falls when he notes how familiar those eyes are

HOMILY for the 7th Sunday of Easter (B)

Acts 1:15-17. 20-26; Ps 102; 1 Jn 4:11-16; John 17:11-19

Today, Jesus is praying for us his friends: “Consecrate them”, he prays, that is to say, sanctify them, or “make them holy in the truth”. But what does this mean? There’s a tendency to think of holiness – if we think of it at all – as essentially an individual endeavour; we strive for it as a personal life-long project, albeit with God’s help. But in today’s Gospel, Jesus prays to the Father for “them”, meaning his apostles, who stand for the entire Church; for all his disciples and friends. So, he is also praying for you and me – for us, as members of his Church, present here in this parish, inside this beautiful church.

This reference to “them” is important because we don’t become saints alone but as part of a communion of saints. For holiness is not an individual project but a communal one, and for us this means the community of the parish here at St Dominic’s. This is why I have decided as parish priest that Baptisms should ordinarily take place on the 1st Sunday of every month at the 10am Mass, within the context of a parish Mass so that we as a community can support our families and their children who will be baptised. But also because there is a mutual commitment that we make to one another: that we will welcome the children and mums and dads of our parish, and help them to grow in holiness, help them to grow to know and love Jesus better. And our parents, therefore, make a commitment to us as a community: that they will bring their children up in the Faith, which means, as a minimum bringing their children to Mass every Sunday.

So, as a parish and as Christ’s disciples here in Haverstock Hill, we are bound to one another, with all our various weaknesses and strengths, but we are bound together in love. So St John says: “We ourselves have known and put our faith in God’s love towards ourselves.” (1 Jn 4:16a) And because God loves us, so he wants to make you and me holy because God is holy, and we cannot be united with him if we are not holy, if we prefer sin, and if we do not love the way that Christ has loved us, that is to say, purely, sacrificially, without self-interest, putting others before oneself. Hence St John states: “God is love and anyone who lives in love lives in God, and God lives in him.” (1 Jn 4:16b)

My hope is that as a parish, and as we recover from this pandemic, St Dominic’s will be a place where we will learn to love one another, and indeed, really love the people who live in this area whether or not they are Catholics. We are called, as Christians, to witness to Jesus Christ who loved us so much, even while we were still sinners, that he became Man, and died for our sins, and shed his blood for us. So St John says: “since God has loved us so much, we too should love one another.” I have plans for the renewal of our parish hall and its facilities, and I hope that soon we can resume our coffee and cakes after Sunday Mass, but also that during the week we can have social events for senior citizens, after-school reading programmes for children from St Dominic’s School, meals for the homeless and hungry, and other ways to exercise love for one another. Because a Catholic Church is called to shine with beauty: not just architecturally – and I am so grateful for the beauty of this church and its restored windows, stonework, and artwork – but we are called to shine with good works. As Jesus said: “Let your light so shine before all, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Mt 5:16) So, for these good works, these beautiful things I hope we can do together as a parish, I will need your help; I will need families to come and to stay, and for you all to want to shine out with us.

And what does it mean when Jesus prays that the Father will consecrate us, make us holy in the truth? In the first place, Christ himself is the Truth. So, we are made holy through our union with him through the grace of Baptism, through the grace of the Sacraments, especially through Holy Communion. This is why we need to come to Mass every Sunday because, quite simply, we need to see Jesus in the Eucharist; we need to worship and love him in the Holy Eucharist; and we need to receive Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist. Jesus gives himself to us, at every Mass, in this precious way not for his own sake but entirely for our sake because we need him. As Jesus says in St John’s Gospel: “He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (Jn 15:5b) Or, as we hear in today’s Gospel, the Lord says: “I have watched over them and not one is lost except the one who chose to be lost.” (Jn 17:12)

How beautiful it is to be part of a parish, to be gathered together as a community of Christ’s friends, for it is here, within the church and bound to one another in the love of Christ that Jesus keeps watch over us. It is here that we abide in the Lord, and it is here in our parish that we can grow fruitful through good works. There is a tone of admonition in the Lord’s words: we can choose to be lost, that is to say, we can choose to stay away from the Church, to prefer other Sunday activities to Sunday Mass, and so we can choose ways that will, ultimately, lead us away from Christ. Thus Jesus says: “If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned.” (Jn 15:6)

Therefore, Jesus calls us to be mindful always to stay close to him; to go to him week after week, day after day, and so to remain in him, and this happens primarily in the context of the parish and especially through the Sunday Mass. The Bishops of England and Wales thus said recently: “The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the lifeblood of the Church. It requires our active participation and… our physical presence… At this moment [after the pandemic], then, we… need to restore to its rightful centrality in our lives the Sunday Mass, encouraging each [other] to take his or her place once again in the assembly of our brothers and sisters… We [need to] nurture the sense of Sunday as ‘a weekly gift from God to his people’, and something we cannot do without; to see Sunday as the soul of the week, as giving light and meaning to all the responsibilities we live out each day; to see the Sunday Eucharist as food for the unique mission with which we have been endowed.”

And finally, when Jesus prays that we will be consecrated in the truth, he is praying that we will be set apart for God. So we Christians will think differently, and behave differently, and see things in a different way from others around us. We just have to accept this. Why? Jesus is clear: “They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world.” (Jn 17:14) No, through Baptism, we now belong to God; he is our Father, and so we, his children, are given grace to behave and think and act like God who is Love. We are empowered by God to love. For each of us, learning to love like Christ will take a lifetime, but we can help our young ones and our families through solid catechesis. This is why I plan to renew the catechetical programme in this parish, from Baptism up to Marriage, and I am delighted to welcome Sr Lucy and Sr Carino from the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph to our parish as our new parish Sisters. They will work alongside our current catechists as well as any new volunteers who want to serve as catechists with them, and they will start in September. I am delighted, though, to welcome them here today as they’ve come specially to meet you. Truly, they are an answer to my prayers, fittingly granted in the Year of St Joseph that we’re currently celebrating.

For as your parish priest, I make my own the prayer of Our Lord, that in these various ways I have mentioned you and I will be consecrated, made holy, in the truth; that you will deepen your friendship and your walk with Jesus Christ; and that St Dominic’s will be a place where God’s love is made obvious to anybody who visits us! Please, I ask you to pray with me, and to help me in realising the Lord’s prayer for us. During these days before Pentecost, let us pray: “Come Holy Spirit, and renew the face of the earth: renew my heart, renew my life, and so renew this parish.” Amen!

'There Is Light After Sadness, There's Hope After Madness'

(This is my first time posting fanfic in 6 years... *runs and hides*)

There was wind hissing high above their heads, passing through the dense overhang of the trees. It's just barely enough to mask the sounds of their shoes crunching against the dried leaves or the occasional snap of a branch under a heavy foot fall.

No one has spoken a single word since they've left Chinatown. No one could shake the imagery of Jiya cradling Rufus' body, or the piercing sound of her screams as they attempted to pull her away. A chorus that repeated like a broken record, Please, no, we can't leave him... Wyatt please, Lucy... tell him...

She wondered how many ways a heart could break in a single day. How much pain it could withstand. How much loss could a body take before it failed to function.

Lucy couldn't help Jiya, couldn't spare her the bereavement- could hardly mend herself back together and put on the facade of someone stronger, a spine to aid the others in standing. It wasn't her, not in this moment.

1888 has stolen so much from all of them.

Rufus being left behind. Her own mother's cold stiff body was now probably tossed in an alley somewhere behind the photo studio. Her great-grandfather too. 

Her mother's departing words were still stinging. Knowing that was the last thing she wanted to say to her, that even in her final moments she couldn't even pretend to be remorseful for what she put Lucy through in these last few months.

Everything was just... unbearable.

They had no choice but to leave the string of bodies in their wake. Leave them behind carelessly with no proper burial. On nameless streets for someone else to clean like discarded trash. Rufus didn't deserve that, he deserved so much more- 

Rufus deserved to be coming home with them.

“Jiya,” Lucy pleaded, on her knees beside her, reaching forward to touch her shoulder, “the machine isn't calibrated for five, you know we don't really have a choice.”

Eventually they got her to move. Surprisingly, it's Flynn who convinces her that they could change this. That they have to continue pushing toward the future. Whatever future that may be.

“When this is all over, we might reset everything... one small change could bring him back. Or maybe, maybe we find a way to save him ourselves. Who knows. The point is, we have to keep going.”

He'd said it so tenderly, with so much conviction that Jiya nodded and pulled away from Rufus. 

There was a pang of disdain that rippled through her at the prospect of starting over while retaining all of her memories. How could she ever look at her mother the way she used to ever again?

Lucy receded out of her thoughts when she hears Flynn wheeze and then cough. Her previously blank stare adjusting to the back of Wyatt as he trailed closely behind Jiya; she was sniffling, wiping at her nose with her palm. Refusing to acknowledge any of them.

Lucy chanced a glance over to Flynn at her right. His injured arm clutched close to his chest. 

Quickly turning her head into the tree-line opposite them when his focus tilted and shifted over to hers. She felt heat color her cheeks that couldn't all be blamed from their walking.

She could still feel Flynn's embrace. Feel the way his heart hammered deep in his chest as it pressed to her own, how easily they fused together, how right it felt to be held inside the safety of his arms. 

The light pressure of his head against hers; his all encompassing scent that as of recently seemed to linger in her memories consistently, ever since that night she spent in his bed.

He rocked her in his arms for countless minutes. Cooed down to her until her cries stopped. Until her sobs and hiccups transitioned into occasional body shivers and residual infrequent whimpers. Her fingers wrapped in the fabric of his jacket unwilling to let go, clutching at his side desperately.

Flynn provided himself to her in whatever capacity she wanted. Never willing to take more than she was willing to give. He offered her solace, offered her something to keep her from falling into a never ending abyss. Became this strong grounding presence that she'd come to rely on.

Despite how loudly she rejected the thought the he knew her. Despite constantly denying the accuracy of the journal. Future her entrusted him with this knowledge for a reason, gave him deeply personal insights into her; she wondered for many nights what that could imply of their relationship, what it all meant in the grander scheme of things. She never trusted her mother with her personal writings, not even Amy was allowed to read her journal entries. So the fact that future Lucy Preston handed him a piece of herself so willingly- 

She'd have to be incredibly dense to downplay the significance.

To Flynn's credit he has put in so much effort in getting to know her- and they've grown so much since that night in the truck. Separating everything that he knew- 

Lucy was no longer just the idealization of the journal version of herself.

Whatever future they shared together, whatever it was her future self was trying to retain and preserve...

Lucy was just glad to have him, to anchor her, to understand her in her moments of weakness. To accept her darkness as readily as he accepted her light. Realizing then that only she could grant him that same mutual understanding.

Why are you here? She had asked, but she knew the answer. Flynn was there for her, and only her.

They could have stayed in the moment for an eternity, of that she was sure. Just attached to each other in the dust and grime of 1888, unmoving.

It was only when she tried to shift more comfortably onto him- when she grabbed a little too high and startled his wound that she realized he was injured. Flynn released the most wounded guttural noise, a mixture of a groan and blood-curdling agony.

Lucy pulled away so abruptly that Flynn was visibly shocked, and more than a little shamed. He lowered his gaze to the floor, his body crumbling in on itself as he hunched over. It was too late, Lucy saw how deep the hurt formed in his irises, how they spoke of his emotional distress as well as his somatic pain.

Assuming it was him holding her that triggered the sudden ill reaction- as if he crossed some sort of unspoken line- and not his own suffering that unnerved her. That perhaps she finally came to her senses enough to recognize she didn't want to seek any form of physical comfort from someone like himself.

Instead of speaking to reassure him that was not the case; she softly touched him where she could see the discoloring in his suit jacket. Turning her attention to her own dress, to the tiny abstract red specks imprinted onto her.

“Flynn,-” Lucy stammered, gently pulling from the lapel to expose his undershirt and vest.

“I'm okay,” Flynn brushed her fingers with his, taking hold of the edge she held, and pulling the fabric back into place.

Of course it was a lie. 

He tries to smile at her, but it comes out more like a grimace than the comforting gesture he tried to impart; and Lucy could see how truly frail Flynn appeared before her, remembers the grunts he made when he lowered himself to her on the floor (however long ago that was) and it wasn't like that brief glimpse wasn't enough to see the damage- there was a lot of red saturating the pristine white, and it was directly over his chest.

Lucy could not risk losing anyone else tonight.

Least of all him.

“We need to go.” She felt determination settle into her like a new skin, felt her limp body as it sparked back to life, grief would have to pause for now. Gracelessly Lucy moved across him, “Here, let me.”

“Lift your arm.” She wrapped her fingers around his wrist, reluctantly Flynn listened, lifting his good arm with her aid around her shoulders- his face wrinkling up as his teeth were bared, clenching tightly together. Suppressing any kind of painful noise trying to escape him with a sharp hiss.

With their bodies pressed together at the hips, Lucy slipped her arm around his waist, “Ready?”

He nodded and inhaled sharply through his nose as they both pushed up to their feet. Once they were standing, his eyes fluttered shut for a second. His knees collapsed, body quivering, leaning a lot more heavily on her. It was a lot of weight to support and he had quite a height difference over her. If he passed out, there's no doubting she'd be falling right along with him.

“Are you going to faint?” She questioned adjusting her hold on him, in case they had to sit back down. Flynn only shook his head negatively and took a step forward.

“I have you Garcia.” Lucy emitted lowly, fear evident in her voice, she could hear it as it faded around them weakly. She rubbed lightly at his ribs, up and down, up and down, “I have you.” she repeated with false confidence. “You have to hold on.”

“That's the first time you've,-” He hesitated, taking another tentative step with her. “That's the first time you've said my name, my actual name.”

Just don't let it be the last time... She thought to herself, silently praying they could manage their way back to the group.

Just hold on...

There was sweat on his brow now and he was still shaking pretty badly, his skin had long since paled with just the tinge of a sickly grey undertone. He looked like death had its boney fingers around him and with every step the grip tightened, but Garcia Flynn was a fighter and didn't quit easily.

He was unsteady on his feet, yet he refused to burden anyone with carrying him when he had two perfectly capable legs, stating it would only slow them for no reason. 

Lucy still feared that he would pass out from shock or blood loss, so she remained close to him, not that she could stop him from falling- but she could possibly save him from cracking his head open on his descent.

“We have a first aid kit in the Lifeboat now.” Lucy mentions to break the insufferable silence, and to give him something to concentrate on that wasn't his excruciating situation. Wyatt narrowed his sights on them from over his shoulder, Lucy frowned, and continued to talk to Flynn.

“There should be some form of pain medication in there, it might help dull it enough to get you through the travel.”

“I'm going to be fine. I just want to get the hell out of 1888.” The corner of his mouth turned up, just slightly enough to resemble the trace of a grin at her concern.

“I know you're going to be fine, that wasn't what,-” She snapped as she took a step closer to him, wrapping her fingers around the forearm of his non-injured arm, halting him from taking another step.

“You're hurting,” Lucy chastised, watching as Wyatt's shoulders grew more rigid, he too paused in his step for half a second, as if he knew they stopped, or to contemplate if he should look back at them again- deciding it wasn't the best idea, then carrying onward with Jiya. 

She turned her attention back up to Flynn. “You don't have to be...” Lucy ushered a little more restrained, hoping that only he could hear it.

“Please.” she begged.

Flynn swallowed thickly, his mouth opening then closing- he simply nodded.

When they finally get to the Lifeboat Jiya stalls. “Just, let me stay.” she choked out, tears welling. “I can't go back without him, I have nothing... I won't go back,-”

“I promised him I would get you home,” Wyatt said cutting her off sternly. He had a distinct irritation to his tone, one that certainly shouldn't have been directed toward Jiya. “And, you're the only one who can pilot us out of here.”

Flynn shot him a glare before he unceremoniously slumped against the cooled metal of the Lifeboat. Sitting on one of the grooves as he released a string of curses in what Lucy assumed was Croatian. She rubbed at her temples and zoned out the hushed bickering between Flynn and Wyatt that began once Jiya climbed inside, and was safely out of earshot.

“Go get the med kit Wyatt.” Lucy demanded when there was a break in their unnecessary and inappropriate argument.

“Lucy, we can treat him when we get home.” Wyatt huffed.

She narrowed her eyes at him, “Go. Now.”

“Fine.” He held up his hands defensively before climbing up the machine. Leaning out of the door just enough to hand it off to her. “Don't you have, issues, with blood?” he muttered under his breath as he ducked back inside.

She ignored the statement, as well as the unadulterated annoyance and blatant jealousy radiating off him. Instead she propped the bag up on the machine and unzipped it as Flynn began to shrug out of his jacket. His left hand trembling, clumsily prying off the buttons of his vest, then his shirt. Eventually he gets it freed and slips his right shoulder out exposing his chest.

Lucy adverted her stare and busied herself with the supplies.

“Wet some of those gauze with the saline so I can clean off some of this mess. I can't see anything.” Flynn instructed. Huffing out a laugh as she handed it off without looking.

“I really am not too good with,-” Lucy trailed off as she squeezed her eyes shut, trying hard not to envision all the gore displayed in front of her. Her stomach flipping, head growing light. She tried to distract herself- at first singing a song in her head, and when that failed she began to quiz herself with historical facts. 

All of it was done in vain- 

She felt herself start to shift backward, a flushing of coldness cascading over her. She grabbed at the Lifeboat to steady herself.

“It's alright I've got it.” Flynn spoke delicately, tossing the soiled gauze atop his discarded jacket. “Go ahead inside, you don't have to stay.”

Lucy inhaled deeply, held it for a few seconds, then exhaled, repeating it over and over, feeling her lungs as they expanded and deflated with her control. The world spinning less fast with each passing cycle. “I want to stay.” she said when her grip on the present returned.

If Flynn was opposed to the idea he didn't show it. He nodded and carried on examining his wound, covering it with gauze coated in Vaseline. Lucy wasn't a doctor, but she was willing to bet that stitches weren't going to be enough to patch Flynn. He'd need a hospital, he'd most likely need surgery.

How the hell would they manage that? How the hell was he even still standing right now?

Wordlessly she continued to follow orders, handing him the things he asked for. Rummaging through the various ointments in search for proper dressing and the pills. “There's a sling in here.”

“How thoughtful,” Flynn's tone was dripping with sarcasm, pressing his fingers around the adhesive dressing he placed over his wound, taping down three of the four edges. He cursed again as he struggled with buttoning his shirt. Without much deliberation Lucy moved to stand in front of him. Guiding his hand away, pressing two pills into his palm. Working deftly, she closed the buttons for him.

“Perhaps, you wouldn't have gotten an infection, if they had a little more forethought before you got stabbed in 1692.”

She smirked at his comment, leaning around him to retrieve the sling, setting the adjustments until it was as loose as possible. He slipped his forearm inside. Then crouched down, ducking into the neck strap as she held it open for him. Flynn gripped it in place as Lucy carefully pulled the belt, tightening until it was secure.

Wyatt looked nothing short of the petulant child he was behaving as once they joined them inside the Lifeboat. She pushed her dress out of the way, allowing Flynn to get to his seat first. Observing him as he unsuccessfully attempted to pull at his seatbelts with his left hand.

She'd already helped him outside with the buttons on his shirt, what more harm could be done now?

Their legs brushed and it's a tight space between them, but she glides off the edge of her seat and kneels before him. Leaning across and into him, deeply inside his personal bubble- a blush working its way up from her chest, blossoming in her neck and cheeks.

He immediately stops fiddling, peering at her through hooded eyes as her hand covers his, caressing the back of his knuckles, let me help, goes unspoken.

His breath hitches as her fingertips trail up his arms, then down his chest, fitting the seatbelt over him. It dawns on her that their roles were reversed from the last time they were in this very position. The only exception, Flynn wasn't balking at her ministrations.

No, instead he seemed to be longing for such care. 

She fleetingly allowed herself to wonder when the last time it was that Flynn was comforted or taken care of. Lucy imagines not since his wife died. The notion an invisible knife twisting white-hot affliction into her gut, a sudden ache forming in her chest.

He really was a lonely and broken man, as lonely and broken as herself.

He tilted his head to the side and licked over his bottom lip, an undeniable affectionate twinkle set in his features. “Thank you.”

She clears the lump that formed in her throat, setting back into her seat. “You're welcome.”

The Lifeboat hummed into life as Jiya continued flipping the switches and pressing buttons. The door slowly creaking shut. Tears stung at the backs of Lucy’s eyes, it all becoming painfully real that they wouldn't be returning to retrieve Rufus as he originally planned out for them.

She motions to grab her locket from around her neck-only to realize that too was gone... she had absolutely nothing left. 

There was no way to stop the sob that tore through her. Could only try to mask it under the noise of the stuttering machinery by covering her mouth in the sleeve of her dress.

“Tout ira bien, Lucy.” Flynn said on an exhale as he settled low in his chair. His eyelids drooping, until they sealed completely. She began to pay attention to his chest, just to make sure that he still actually was breathing. His long arm reached forward, palm upturned and his fingers gesturing in a come here motion.

She leans forward and takes it into hers. He gave it a gentle squeeze, and she felt the tears fall from her silently.

“Je t'ai.”

Lucy knew that moving forward was going to keep on being a devastating uphill battle. That Emma was the worse possible choice for leader of Rittenhouse, a completely unpredictable variable.

Flynn was right though... they did have each other. 

They were going to get through this. They were going to keep moving forward. 

Because Garcia Flynn hasn't given up on her, or them. And knowing that he still believed in their future, believed in it so much, that it was worth fighting for... 

Dying for... 

And that they were going to do all of it together, felt oddly relieving.

Everything will be alright, Lucy... I have you...

Frames on Pop-Punk, Sex Work, and Their Debut Album ‘Every Room’ [Q&A]

Richmond, Virginia's very own Frames, have released their heartfelt and hard-hitting debut album Every Room. The record is a nostalgia-charged piece of art full of reflection and retribution, turbulence and tenacity. The band, comprised of Sarah Phung, Carter Wahl, Blake Layman, and Alex Wilson, joining on guitar, bass, and drums, respectively, comes alive with their intense and intimate emo drive and captivating passion.

Ones To Watch caught up with Phung to talk about the transition from being a solo artist to a band, the inspirations that fueled the album's creation, and legitimizing sex work.

Ones To Watch: In an interview with Brooklyn Vegan, you talked about how you intentionally made the music video for "Table Top" compressed and pixelated, wanting to capture the nostalgia and energy we felt from music videos we grew up watching on TRL. Can you talk a bit more about this process and how you went about executing this idea?

Frames: So the video is done by my friend Gavin Stout; we go way back. We've been hometown friends there for a decade, and he's excellent with video. We sat down to talk about treatment and plots, and we threw a lot out there, and I don't know why it came to mind. I was like, “I think we should have some skateboarding B-roll,” and he was asking me for ideas and references. I just couldn't stop thinking about every single video I ever watched pre-2009, and I just really miss real MTV and Fuse, and I'm really bummed that that era is over, because I'll probably never get to live that dream of mine. One of my biggest music-related dreams is being on one of those music video programs on TV, but that culture is over. So I was like, “Well, why don't we bring back that visual of an afterschool music video show with this.” So then the rest of the band all dropped in bits of the idea and formed it together. Gavin's idea was to have the performance take place in his garage, and it has that very homey and throwback feel. We jokingly were like, “Oh, this needs to be shot at like 120p,” and we talked about how it needs to be the lowest resolution possible.

That whole, recorded with a potato kind of vibe.

Exactly! Gavin went out thrifting to look for an old camcorder or something, and when he got back, he had some old hand video camera, and he goes, “Guys, I have bad news. This thing is like kind of good quality for an old camcorder.” It was an old Sony flip-out camcorder, but it was still kind of nice. So he said he'll do what he can to make it look the way we wanted. So it was kind of tricky, because he is good at what he does. I mean, he's a corporate video editor and did commercials and stuff, so it was hard for him to intentionally make it bad quality. It was really funny to have to continuously remind each other that this has to look bad but not like bad because we suck and like we're not good at what we're doing. It has to look intentional, and that's hard to do. We kept looking back to the video “Make Damn Sure” by Taking Back Sunday as inspiration. It's just one of those weird performance videos where they're in some room, and all of a sudden, there's a car crash test zone type of room. So, we were looking at that video and asking ourselves how they did it because watching it now, you can tell that it's not up to industry standard these days, but we can tell that it's the best with what they had. So we figured out that it's not in the resolution, but there are other ways to make the video look very professional and high quality, but this was made in 2004. So yeah, we were just really hyped and hyper-focused on making it look exactly like you're coming home, you throw your bookbag on the floor, turn the TV on, and then hey, it's us.

It feels like every detail is purposely made to capture the spirit and genuineness of the project, and that energy seeps through the whole record.

We try to be intentional in that way. I think you're right. I hope you're right. We try our best to, you know, being a smaller and not super established band with not a lot of known history, of course on the business side of things, we want to make the right moves so that we can get to a place where making art can sustain us, so we can dedicate more time to it. That's every musician's dilemma where they want to stay true to their craft but also need to make a living, so we have to juggle that a lot. Luckily, when it comes to the creative direction, most of the time, what we want, tends to be like, this is going to work because it has to. We're not going to emulate anything out of thinking that it's going to bring us success. We're doing it purely because I like what we are. I miss the Ashlee Simpson, Avril Lavigne, Paramore, Hey Monday days. I wanted to be a part of that, but I didn't get to be because I was young. But now, I'm going to start my own era of that. So hopefully, that works, and hopefully, it sticks, and people get what we're doing.

Frames originally started as a solo project, but recently it's now expanded into a four-piece. What made you want to make that transition, and how has that adjustment been for you?

Pretty much every aspect of the Frames origin story leads back to some early 2000s nostalgia. Pretty much everything leads back to me being 10 years old and loving Avril Lavigne and Paramore, who are pretty much the two greatest female pop-punk artists, and I just knew that I always wanted to have a full band to write with, to play with, to be friends with. I wanted everything that came with being in a band, musically but also personally and socially. I want to share the creative control, and for a while, I didn't have a lot of music friends, and I wasn't deep enough in being a musician to know how to work with the band, but I knew that I wanted to just start getting things out. So with the Frames EP, that was just me, and I already knew then that I would eventually find a full band. Frames is named after my best friend Framers, and I forgot why I thought of that, but I think it came down to picking a name. I hadn't thought that hard on it, but I wanted it to be some sort of tribute to someone or something really important to me, and then I thought, well, he's important to me and also important to my music, because he's been my number one fan since day one. He's always been pushing me to start putting things out because, at that point, he was the only person that would hear stuff that I was writing, and it was just phone demos. So I guess that the two core points of the Frames origin story are me living out my childhood dream of being a power-pop singer and naming my band after my best friend.

That sounds like a good friend right there.

He also introduced me to most of the musicians that end up being my influences.

Like who?

Daughter, Lucy Rose. It's funny I don't talk about Lucy Rose nearly enough, but she's fantastic. Everyone knows Lucy Dacus, but this is my Lucy. She has a song called “Shiver,” and I really liked it, so I learned to play it. It's in an open tuning, so I learned that song in that tuning and that tuning and the general progression of the song is what I used to write last year on the EP and then this year on the album. So these songs are a direct product of listening to Lucy Rose.

How did you meet your current bandmates?

My guitarist Carter Wahl and I met six or seven years ago through mutual friends during Richmond's house show glory days. So he was the first band member from very early on, like well before the rest of the band, because between him and the rest of the band, I had a lot of rotating friends for like, shows and weekend tours. So Carter's a core part of Frames because he writes solid parts, although I write most of the material. And then, Alex. I was asking around, and there were a few drummers that I knew and liked, and I had known Alex through mutual friends, so I reached out to him and asked him if he wanted to play in my band. He is also in this other band called Twin Drugs, and they're like a shoegaze band. At first, he said he didn't have enough time to take on a new project, but after listening to some of our music, he decided he wanted to be in something much different than what he was in. He wanted to, in his words, "I just want to play 4/4." He was like, "I just want to play a simple beat, and I want to be in a pop band," and I was like, "Well, here's a pop band." So he came along, and then I asked if he knew any bassists, and he said he would ask his bassist from Twin Drugs, Blake Layman. I was a little skeptical and kept thinking that this needed to work because we would be spending so much time together, and we would be sharing so much control. This needs to be someone that everyone has to get along with, and it just worked out great. Blake is an actual angel, and we all get along really well.

Sounds like everyone in the band was made for each other.

Yeah, and it's nice that we all have the same ideas, visions, goals, and styles pretty much. So I write my parts, and I give them my thoughts for what I want the song to come out sounding like loosely, but for the most part, they write their parts, and I don't think that any of them have ever come up with anything that hasn't matched exactly what it sounded like in my head. So that's awesome.

What is your songwriting process like?

I'm definitely a very lyric-heavy person. When I was younger, poetry and lyrics were some of my biggest interests and the main focus of my music writing before I became a stronger guitarist and just a better overall composer. Now and then, I'll just have lines or ideas that I'll write down, so I stitch together the lyric scraps when I have music. Other times, I feel the writing rush, and if I have time for it, I'll sit down and just start playing something or start babbling something, and usually, when I do that, I like to sit down to start a song, and I finish it. I don't like to leave it and pick it up later.  

What story does Every Room tell? Is it a chapter in the life of Frames with a set beginning and end, or is it more of an anthology series where every song is a separate story?

It's a little bit of an anthology, but with an underlying theme throughout all of them. A lot of my lyrics tend to be talk therapy for me. This collection of songs is from a very emotionally turbulent time but a different type of emotional turbulence than the one I would describe with the EP. The EP was like, pre this specific relationship, and then this album is like all of the emotions that came after that relationship that I was unprepared for, so a lot of it is anxiety. I haven't gotten to talk about "Body Kicks" very much, but that entire song is about anxiety, and if you read the lyrics, you'll know for certain. So a lot of these songs are about me processing a lot of things, not just talking about them. I'm breaking them down and figuring out why I'm feeling them, what I'm supposed to do with these feelings, if I need to just like sit with them and then let them go, or if I need to learn something from them and if I should even be having them, if it's healthy to and how I can communicate them to other people. It's hard enough knowing what you're feeling, but then you're like, well, what now? What do I do with it? 

I'm sure that's a situation many people can relate to and find comfort knowing they aren't the only ones who've experienced something like that.

I try consciously to write about aspects of relationships that aren't sung about very much, or we've heard for the most. So we've heard all the heart-achy, gut-wrenching stuff, and we've heard all the butterflies infatuation songs, but there's like something in between that doesn't get explored. I think because maybe either writers don't know how to write it, or they just don't feel that it's as glamorous of a topic to talk about. I think that's where I naturally am most of the time in my head anyway, kind of in between the best and the worst feelings.

Are you describing the grey area of relationships where you're sad but not heartbroken?

Yeah exactly. Sad but not heartbroken. So I'm like, “Well, if I'm not heartbroken, what am I sad about?”

Can we expect music in the future from Frames to dive more into themes like anxiety and relationships, or do you feel like, in the next album cycle you would want to change it up?

I don't know if we'll get to bring it up in this album cycle, but the sex worker part of me has been very briefly mentioned in relation to the band. I definitely want to explore that more as a facet of my musicianhood. I don't know how I'm gonna write about working at a club, but they're definitely connected in some way. So I'm gonna find how they're connected.

How did you feel about the influx of people diving into the world of sex work on OnlyFans when the pandemic first hit?

Early on, when a bunch of previously non-sex-worker women were going to OnlyFans because of COVID, of course, I was like, "You're not a real sex worker," and I thought taking nudes wasn't sex work. But now I'm like, "Who cares? Whatever." I believe if you do sex work, you are a sex worker. If you perform any sort of sexuality in return for money, that's sex work, and I do not want sex workers' money to be messed with.

Right, because sex work is work and shouldn't be delegitimized.

Right. I guess I don't look like I would be a stripper. I don't really show it, and it's not that obvious to the music people around me, but I do talk about it a lot. I think that even people who mean well and believe that they're allies, and are in support of sex workers and sex work, are not even aware of how much they have this idea of what a sex worker should look like, should sound like, or should act like. So I think that me being who I am and doing the things that I do, I like to be very open and transparent about sex work, because then it gives more exposure to the fact that we're just ordinary people. I want to remind people that you never really know who you're around. People love to say that they're an ally or supportive of something when they're not even aware of those people around them.

What would you tell your nine to fourteen-year-old self about the art you're creating now?

Nine to fourteen-year-old me was what I envisioned for my music process, playing music, being a musician. But, unfortunately, I was focused more on the external factors and the whole "being a rock star" thing and not nearly as focused on my actual music writing. I knew how to write a song a little bit, but I was caught up being world-famous and filthy rich as a kid. So, I guess my answer would be don't worry about the external things because they will come naturally. The fame and fortune part is just a Hollywood dream, and even if it could happen, it doesn't always end up nearly as satisfying as just doing what you love to do.

The mun was kind enough to hear out my request for a crossover RP and in order to keep Makoto in character and recall the FT world to make the crossover work, I started reading the manga again, which eventually led to Happy’s blog and I blame @ignicity 110% for that. GRAY YOU’RE NEXT!! @i-ced I’m a terribly shy person in general, which is why I’ve followed so many of you and made little to no effort to talk even though I want to be friends with everyone. I feel conflicted about chapter 537. The shipper part of me is satisfied that my faves are finally free from their torment and can be happy together. Another part, however, weeps at all the character derailment and lost potentials in this arc, in Mavis who never truly got to shine as a strategist, in Zeref who never got to reconcile with his brother, and whose redemption would now never come.

Well I 100% agree with you about everything ! I wanted to do a reaction post for the chapter but I think I’ll do it now instead, and address what you said in it. Please bear with me !

- About chapter 537:

I honestly didn’t like everything in the chapter, some panels were absolutely gorgeous (the kiss and Zeref’s face just after this when Mavis is stroking his face are everything, and the last page is pure beauty) but I wasn’t convinced by what unfolded before. It seems to me like Mavis’ reasoning about why she was the only one to die before was a bit shaky. She says that she was feeling contradictory emotions at the time, but why ? The Zeref from back then hadn’t done anything bad against her or the guild. But I mean, okay. Mashima had to give us a reason, although I personally think/headcanon that Mavis’ love was more immature compared to Zeref’s, due to their age difference (she was 24 and him 300) and also because she hadn’t been subjected to the curse for as long as he was. So his love overpowering hers was pretty much to be expected, because he was feeling incredible relief from finding someone to love after centuries of loneliness while she was more like a normal young woman falling in love for the first time.

However I liked seeing her being subjected to contradictory emotions in this chapter, it had been a long time since I wanted to see her feel the ‘emotional’ part of the curse, not just the death wave. And as for her love defeating him, I hadn’t really expected it, but I’m fine with it, obviously. At least it makes sense, since she had nearly a century to think about her feelings for him until they deepened that much, but I can’t help but chuckle a bit when I realize that the plan Mashima had been teasing us for 65 chapters was actually her kissing him :p

Other than that their convo was good, Zeref is true to himself and Mavis admitting that she looked up to him and admired him was absolutely great in my opinion. It conforts me in my opinion that what I like the most with this ship is that they have very fluid conversations with each other, there is no uneasiness or awkward interactions when they allow each other to be true to their feelings. I know that they value each other’s intelligence and have a lot in common, so I’m not worried, they will never run out of things to say to each other in the afterlife :)

And lastly for this chapter, other than the massive shipper feels, I really loved how Zeref wanted to make things right with Natsu (which will lead me to my next point) and how the curse really tormented him until the very end by taking Mavis’ life because he cherished it. I know this is what she wanted, but god it makes me sad. Ah well, at last they are reunited, and tbh I didn’t even mind Makarov’s revival, as he basically confirms that he saw them in the afterlife (since he was there just before they gave him their remaining lifeforce). Though it’s ironic that their last act was to play with life and death once again, but yeah. It’s fitting. Also ‘barefoot girl and jet-black boy’, this is such a cute description of them I’m gonna try my best to ignore my biggest pet-peeve that is WHERE IS MY ADULT-LOOKING MAVIS MASHIMA.

- About the lost potential in this arc and the shaky resolution:

I totally agree.

Zeref’s lack of redemption arc is definitely disappointing. Unfortunately I saw it coming since the moment we learned FT was going to end pretty soon, but I still thought that he could at least have a major redeeming moment, such as fighting Acnologia together with Natsu and Anna. I see a lot of people disappointed by Zeref’s entire showing this arc but in my opinion it was pretty solid until chapter 536. This chapter was a disaster. It was rushed, and the build-up to Zeref using Neo-Eclipse was so intense that him being stopped by a single punch left a really, really bitter taste in my mouth. I didn’t expect END to show up (and I’m glad he didn’t), and I expected nakama-power to defeat Zeref in the end, but not. in. this. way. I touched upon it briefly before, but Natsu’s emotions fueling him while Zeref’s weren’t strong enough appears to be very weak writing in my opinion. Also it is such a disappointing way to end the whole Neo-Eclipse subplot, which showed that Zeref had good intentions but bad means to achieve his goal. Instead of some interesting moral questioning, we got Natsu being selfish as hell and going away with it because he’s the hero. Okay. I’m trying hard not to be to salty over Natsu but it’s difficult, I’m sorry.

As for Zeref himself, it would have been great to show him finally having a chance at doing some good in the world instead of just disappearing with his girlfriend. So many villains in Fairy Tail had a shot at redemption, and Zeref’s entire arc seemed to point towards him working with the guild to defeat their common enemy. There was even some foreshadowing of this, what with him talking about past!Natsu and him defeating Acnologia together or when he talked with Gray (”would you lend me a hand ?”). He wanted to save the world so badly, and yet this ending doesn’t allow him to clear his name even a little. The most you pay attention to all these loose threads, the most disappointing the conclusion becomes *sigh*.

But moving on, the lack of reconciliation between Zeref and Natsu makes me so genuinely sad *weeps with you*. I’m looking back at the whole manga and tbh, my question is ‘why did Mashima make them brothers ?’ It didn’t change anything about Natsu’s character. He didn’t question himself about his view of brother’s motives, didn’t show him an ounce of compassion except for some recent chapters (527 if I’m not mistaken). And this recent build-up that made it look like there was going to be some positive change in their relationship just fell flat again. There was tremendous potential for these two to make amends. I didn’t ask for Zeref and Natsu to become best friends or anything, but some real mutual understanding would have been good.

The narrative let me down really hard because when I read moments like these:

I was 100% convinced that it was going to lead somewhere, you know ? Why have an antagonist as interesting as Zeref, someone who could bring some additional depth and conflict to Natsu and learn things himself at his brother’s contact, and end everything with a punch and Natsu vaguely waving at him ? The theme of family was omnipresent, and it should have led somewhere. For example, Natsu realizing that his family is not only Fairy Tail (I like the theme of ‘choose your own family’ but it’s not handled well in FT imo), and Zeref realizing that he was selfish in bringing his brother back to kill him.

I guess we could say Zeref didn’t have much development in this particular aspect too, but at least he implicitly acknowledged that he was wrong and wanted this reconciliation to happen. In the end, Zeref still loved Natsu enough to want to make things right with him, and I love him for this. Their relationship is a waste though. A tag-team battle against Acnologia where they learn to know each other would have been so good… *cries*

And finally about Mavis… I agree so much. Mavis was really handled very poorly in this arc. Personally I liked her a lot in Fairy Tail Zero, and she became one of my faves in there. But that’s because she was the protagonist, and had a lot of exposition and time devoted only to her character: her past, personality, strengths and weaknesses were all developed. She was a really morally-grey character that I enjoyed analyzing and seeing. Plus the chapters were longer, and Mashima took the time to develop his main cast. 

As a main, Mavis was great. As a supporting character, especially in this arc… :/ She was mainly used as a plot-device (Fairy Heart), and a lot of things she did in this arc felt uncalled for. Why give her eternal magic if she couldn’t even fight a Spriggan by herself ? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Her only really good moments imo were her two (three ?) conversations with Zeref (who, in my opinion, brings the best out of her as a character because when she interacts with him she has to get out of the one-dimensional benevolent First Master persona Mashima forced her into) and the moment in which she escaped Irene with her illusions and stole END’s book (even though this wasn’t shown to us, which is a pity). As for the rest, she was forgettable and sometimes a bit ridiculous, such as when she instructed her men to look behind them. I mean, she’s still my favourite female character alongside Lucy, but from a writing point of view, having her have Ankhseram’s curse as well as Fairy Heart and be a legendary 120 year-old tactician and still managing to do almost nothing with that leaves a bad taste too, especially as a fan :/

Well I’m going to stop here, with one last plot-point that makes me conflicted about the whole thing: what about August ? I was almost sure he was going to greet his parents in the afterlife but apparently not ? I just don’t know. The whole pregnancy storyline was very controversial for various reasons, and I had a bit of a hard time swallowing it. But I accepted him being Zeref and Mavis’ son because I thought it would be a great revelation for Zeref to understand he always had a family in Mavis, effectively moving on from his desire to restart his life from scratch and bidding farewell to his brother. But in the end we didn’t get any of that.

I hope this doesn’t come off as salty or negative because it isn’t. I just wanted to share my impressions and conflicted feelings as well. There were great moments in the last chapter and as a stand-alone it is a pretty solid piece but when you put it in the context of the last dozens of chapters and see the amount of plot-points that were dropped and the resolutions that were hinted at (especially Zeref and Natsu’s bond) and in the end amounted to almost nothing, it is a bit painful to realize you have invested so much of your thoughts in this series and characters for such an ‘easy’ ending. But all in all I really enjoyed following the series and I’m grateful for Zeref’s character, he had the hardest life out of all the main cast but knowing he found peace makes me happy.

  “You can’t be serious?!” I hiss at Dean.

 “Look, I don’t like this anymore than you do but Chuck said he has to stay here.” Dean sighs.

 “But I don’t want him to stay here!” I shout.

 “I don’t want to be here anymore than you want me to.” Lucifer snaps at me.

 “Well fly off somewhere else then.” I growl.

 “Stop it.” Dean says quietly, trying to pull me away from Lucifer.

 “Get off me Dean.” I snarl, yanking my arm from his grasp.

 “I think he’s just trying to be a good big brother and protect you.” Lucifer smirks.

 I growl and swing out, punching him square in the face. There’s a stunned silence and even I’m shocked at myself. I see Chuck stand up and look like he’s about to intervene but then we all relax as Lucifer just laughs.

 “HER I like.” Lucifer grins.

 “Feeling is not mutual, Lucy.” I snap.

 “Careful, Little Girl, I might just have to teach you a lesson.” Lucifer growls, stepping closer to me.

 “Hey!” Sam and Dean yell, hands tightening on their angel blades.

 “Try it.” I snarl, getting right into Lucifer’s face.

 He growls at me but for some reason I’m not scared. I’m actually intrigued.

 “Enough.” Chuck says, stepping towards us.

 “You know what, Chuck? Screw you too.” I snap, spinning on my heel and storming to my room.

 As I turn though, I’m sure I see Lucifer grin.

     I head down the hall to my room, pulling my headphones out of my ears, as I return from my morning run. I can’t wait to get out of my shorts and crop top and have a nice shower. As I’m walking past Lucifer’s room, his door opens and I’m suddenly grabbed and pulled inside. Before I can do more than blink, I’m pushed against the door and his mouth has crashed down on mine.

 “I need you.” He whispers into my ear as we part for air.

 “Lucifer, I’m all sweaty and smelly.” I whine, trying half-heartedly to push him away.

 “I don’t care. It’s killing me to only have you as little as I can. Why can’t we just tell your brothers?” He groans as he kisses down my neck.

 “We can’t. They’d go insane.” I gasp as his teeth run over my collarbone.

 “Maybe you’re just embarrassed by me.” He says, pulling away from me.

 “That’s not true.” I state, grabbing his arm.

 “Really?” He snaps, jaw clenching.

 “Yes. Lucifer, I love you. They just won’t understand.” I say sadly.

 “I love you too. I want us to be together.” He states with a frown.

 I cup his face and pull him down for a long kiss but I can feel that he’s not reassured.

 “Come on.” I say, grabbing his wrist and opening the door.

 “Where?” He frowns, letting me pull him along.

 “We’re gonna tell my brothers.” I say determinedly.

 He grins at me and I try to smile back but I’m too scared. I never meant to but I fell in love with Lucifer and now I could lose him or my brothers or all of them. It started off as hate, nasty comments and constant yelling with a few threats thrown in, but after a little while it became friendly snarkiness. After a while, it became more. We were having a movie night when I’d tripped, trying to grab the popcorn, and landed on Lucifer. We’d looked into each other’s eyes as we laughed about how he’d caught me and then we’d kissed. We’d become ‘friends with benefits’ but it wasn’t long before we realised we love each other. To begin with, he agreed about not letting Sam and Dean know but recently he’s begun to get antsy about it.

 “Dean. Sam. There’s something I need to tell you.” I declare as we walk into the library.

 “What did he do?” Dean growls, glaring at Lucifer.

 “Nothing. It’s just… I, uh… we…” I stammer, nerves making my mouth go dry.

 “We were planning on getting some movies to watch and we wanted to invite you both.” Lucifer says smoothly.

 I look at him in shock and he smiles at me. He’s giving me an out and letting me know it’s okay.

 “Lucifer and I are in a relationship. Have been for months. We love each other and you can’t stop us from being together.” I say in a rush.

 “What?!” They both explode.

 They grab their angel blades and come rushing over, aiming at Lucifer. Lucifer doesn’t even flinch, doesn’t make a move to protect himself as he knows how much I love my brothers.

 “Stop it!” I shout, standing between them and Lucifer.

 “Don’t! You could get hurt!” Lucifer cries, pulling me behind him.

 “No!” I cry, trying to get around him.

 “I will not have you hurt because of me!” Lucifer says, using his power to hold me in place.

 We realise that both Dean and Sam have stopped, staring at us like we’ve grown twin heads.

 “You care about her.” Dean breathes.

 Sam just looks shell-shocked.

 “I love her and I will not allow her to get hurt because of me. If you wish to attack me, go ahead. I won’t even fight back.” Lucifer says.

 “Don’t you dare hurt him or I will NEVER forgive either of you!” I shout from where I’m being held.

 Sam and Dean look at each other and then to me, looking like their hearts are breaking. I realise that I have tears running down my face and I angrily swipe them away. Lucifer’s power releases me and I step up to his side.

 “Please. I love you, all three of you. It will break my heart to lose any of you but I love Lucifer. Please don’t make me choose.” I plead, sobbing quietly.

 Both of my brothers nod their heads and their shoulders slump before they head back to their chairs. Lucifer pulls me into a huge hug, holding me tightly as we wait for my brothers to make up their minds.

     I stand in the middle of the hotel room and it suddenly hits me. I’m married! Lucifer and I are married! It’s been five years since we told my brothers but now we’re married. It took my brothers about six months to finally come around but they both happily gave me away today. It’s not a legal marriage, we’re doing that tomorrow but we were married by Chuck so it still counts. Tomorrow ‘Nick’ and I will marry legally. Tonight, we will consummate our marriage. It’s stupid really, we’ve had sex so many times already, but the thought of having sex with Lucifer tonight is nerve wracking. I jump as Lucifer’s hands slide around my waist.

 “Having regrets?” He says, only half joking.

 “No, just nervous.” I smile.

 “Of what?” He chuckles.

 “I dunno really.” I laugh.

 He spins me round gently and kisses me lovingly. My arms wrap around his neck and he pulls me closer.

 “We don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.” He says softly.

 “I do want to.” I smile, looking up at him.

 He pulls at the ribbons of my corset bodice, allowing my dress to slide down to the floor. I giggle as his eyes go wide.

 “No underwear?” He chokes out.

 “Surprise.” I smirk, posing.

 He growls and I squeal as he suddenly lifts me up and tosses me onto the bed. He clicks his fingers and his clothes vanish, making me wet instantly. I bite my lip as he crawls his way up my body with a predatory look in his eyes. He swoops down for a hungry kiss and I moan as his tongue swipes past my lips. My hands cling to his shoulders as my legs wrap around his waist. I gasp as I feel his grace ripple across my body. He slowly sinks his cock into me, knowing that I like it to be stretched on his shaft. I arch with a moan, his grace travelling over my nipples. Fic updates everywhere!

Damn that last time I did one of these was in December I think?? Wow. Okay so I finally have the motivation to do one of these again (didn’t think that was gonna ever happen.) I’ve mostly doing some writing here and there, reading (I’ve recently become obsessed with this ya trilogy called Num8ers, it’s really good), and been in a weird funk as of late. But I’m living off of the salt of my facebook timeline right now. Fair warning this will be long. So without further ado.

 First I’m getting @leianaberrie out of the way because my girl didn’t update not once but five times.

Original freaking Sin

Joshua, Grams, and Abby discussing locating and killing Kai. Please tell me they got that blood from Jo and not from Bonnie’s stomach. Poor Bonnie, that girl is in too deep right now. Poor nephew uncle Zach getting his memory wiped. Bonnie runs off to find Kai and leaves the necklace behind I’m like:

I should not be excited about this. I was right, it was a trap.

But at least they were reunited for a little while before all hell breaks loose.

I’ll Wed You In The Golden Summertime

Holy cow this story just became 10x more tolerable now that Damon’s ass is out of the picture! Shame he didn’t actually die though. So it’s all just a ploy. Okie dokie then, Bonnie’s a good actress. I know she’s pissed with her cousin, mom and the Gemini Coven and it’s supposed to be justified but my hatred of Damon just makes me look at Bonnie like:

He’s seriously not worth the trouble. Hmm but that BonKai sexual tension though.

I love how she just can’t get him out of her head (not that I blame her I mean it’s Kai.) I loved when Kai called her out on her hero complex. I never understood that myself actually, especially considering who she was mostly sacrificing for. But that’s a rant for another time. Bless you Jeremy for opening the floodgate of doubt! I mean Freya planted the seed but

I needed that. And then Nora out here giving Bonnie the truth. I loved that she would not betray Kai no matter what. All of my respect.

Bonnie’s devotion of Damon isn’t fucking natural fam. He treats her like shit repeatedly while she goes above and beyond for him. He only pulls through when it benefits him. Their relationship is so one-sided it’s downright disturbing. She needed to hear that. The fact that she couldn’t even counter back left me satisfied.

I thought Kol and Bonnie had an one-sided crush thing going on not a full ten day honey-moon like fling! Girl you could’ve had it aaallllll.

Of course we get to the end of the chapter where Damon does what Damon does best and that’s twist and manipulate facts in his favor.

And sadly Bonnie believes him because like the author’s note said the story wouldn’t be the way it is if she didn’t come to Damon biased conclusions. Le sigh.

Sweet Jesus! I’m barely finished when you update with another chapter! Omg how do you do it?

Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie, I get her anger, truly I do but Lucy has her cousin’s best interests at heart. Ugh it’s so conflicting! On one hand I want to feel bad for Bonnie because her family really wasn’t there for her when she needed them but her actions toward everyone got me like:

Her outburst at Liv was uncalled for. I’m glad Liv put her in her place. I wish they had let Lucy in on the plan. Man when she said what her favor was I was like:

I kinda had a feeling that’s what her favor was but actually hear her say it. I feel bad for Lucy.

So now Bonnie’s starting to slowly question everything. Bout damn time.

Ah so the traitors are slowly starting to show themselves.

Okay so is she gonna legit kill one of the Gemini or is she going to tell Kai that they contacted her? Now I’m anxious for the next chapter.

While I need more BonKai (I’ll get to that in a minute) I need more of that too. Cause the show don’t know what it’s doing with anything right now. My god Kai and Matt’s argument at the table. In fact that whole dinner was crazy fam. Rebekah attacking Kai (it was justified imo), Bonnie saving him, and of course all of the stuff the MF gang was out of the loop about had me like:

Matt was all types of disrespectful. I understand he had losses but so did his friends. Like Bonnie mentioned he still has family left. I’m gonna need Matt to just out right tell her has feelings because this is getting out of hand.

Okay I’m not gonna lie while I want to see Bonnie and Kai working together (but let’s be fair that’s not happening anytime soon) I’m actually more interested in whoever the traitor is. It’s playing out like a murder mystery and I gotta admit I’m more into that than the Heretic mess. Speaking of which props to Rebekah for wanting to help out the team, hopefully that goes well.

Alrighty first I just wanna say both Kai and Bonnie were in the wrong with the Heretic situation. Kai should’ve never brought them out no matter what he had in mind for them and Bonnie should’ve stayed out of his business. I understand where she was coming from but yeah the point still stands. Anyhoo~

At the same time I’m gonna need these two to have hot angry sex or something because the tension between these two in this story is ridiculous man. Like Kai legit has blue balls. I need an update for this one!

Damn Kai. Okay I totally get why Jeremy doesn’t trust Kai really I do but the hypocrisy is real as Kai pointed out. Jeremy could’ve been the bigger man but eh he screwed himself over during that little convo. Hell that was the highlight of the chapter for me. I’m waiting on the next chapter to see how the party goes seeing as how she said the Gemini Coven is coming there.

I seriously love that crew, Cody in particular. Seriously this fic is the reason Theo Raeken is usually all over my dash.
