Hello there, dear anon. I want to start off by welcoming you to my little blog. Next, I want to personally thank you for taking the time to send me such a thoughtful question. I'm always willing to answer any questions related to the franchise since Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a really big comfort for me, even if it doesn't strictly relate back to my muse. As someone who adores everything about Homura so much, getting questions relating back to her always make me really happy. I always get super excited when I receive thoughtful questions out of the blue.

Let me get this out of the way: You are not the only person to question what the heck is happening in Homura's home in the franchise. There is a lot going on in her home. It's a pity she doesn't give a tour of her home, isn't it?

But the lack of concrete knowledge on Homura's home only makes her air of mystery all the more fascinating. Many fans alike have sat and pondered the same thoughts. I'm sure that everyone has their own personal headcanons on Homura's interior home, so please don't take my personal thoughts as facts. Here is my personal take on the interior of Homura's home...

Isn't Homura's home on the outside so pretty?

Allow me to mention that the world of Puella Magi Madoka Magica is shown to be sprinkled with advancements in technology. Let's take the school, for example. The desks are shown to be built so well that the desks can retract into the floor, effectively clearing away the room with only the push of a button. Gone are the days of stacking the desks away, at least in the school that Homura attends.

The image above reveals the floor where a desk is secretly located, ready to be pulled out for the student to use. The Japanese seen on the floor reads Sayaka Miki's name, showing exactly who the desk is belongs to via the digital sign. Not only does it state the student's name, but it states that she is absent. Isn't that cool?

I believe this example of technology advancement in a public space really does speak for itself about the world. There is a popular theory on why technology is so impressive: It is a visual example of how wishes have progressed the advancement of human kind throughout history. I believe this theory to be a really easy one to understand, but it also makes plenty of sense.

As for Homura's interior room...

There is a lot to unpack, but I believe the interior of her home is a strange mixture of both technology and her magic. With that said, I do heavily lean towards the technology side. Personally? I like the balance of both worlds. Not only do I believe that technology and magic are at play, but I also believe that Homura has sought out to refurbish her home.

I have reason to believe that parts of Homura's home are holographic displays. The frames of the various illustrations in the background appear to have frames that resemble image-like tabs. Not only that, it appears that Homura has found references in her studies over Walpurgisnacht. Judging by how old Walpurgisnacht is, I assume what we are seeing on the blank wall is Homura's research.

Walpurgisnacht aside, these clusters of images on the wall do scream that there is some form of technology at play in the background.

A closer look at the various images show that the window-like frames are actually physical frames. This little detail implies that these potential holograms behave like picture displays, but only for digital photos. I believe that Homura is basically using her walls as one big monitor in order to always be looking at her research. She is taking workaholic to the next level by covering every part of her home's interior with her research.

Walpurgisnacht has taken over her life so much that Homura eliminates all of her old distractions. The image above shows just how much Homura has changed after all of this time— Her home is distant and cold and empty...

The exact opposite of Mami's home, if you think about it. Both Mami and Homura live alone, but their interior homes are so vastly different from each other. Mami's interior is welcoming and cozy, mirroring her personality. However, the moment that we lose Mami is when the warm atmosphere of her home becomes sad... Almost bittersweet. Mami's home looks more normal, showing us that all Mami wants is to block away the loneliness with as much comfort as she can.

Let us take a brief look at Homura's old interior. As you can tell by the two connected images, Homura's old style is less bizarre-looking. You spot a desk, table, couch, and even a couple of framed paintings. But nothing really screams Homura. It shows that all she cares about is having what is necessary. Not only that, but it shows that Homura is easy to adapt to whatever she can find.

Darkness covers the entire room, perhaps to foreshadow Homura's descent.

The old interior gives off a gloomy atmosphere. It still, however, looks like a home. A lonely one, yes, but still something normal. It isn't anything special, but it still has something. The fate of Homura's interior in the later timelines lack personality, looking as detached as its owner. The future look of Homura's home looks more like a witch's labyrinth, not someone's home.

I do, however, believe that Homura has reconstructed her home with the help of magic and technology. The odd-looking flames on the candles (maybe even the slowly swinging pendulum) scream that they are formed by magic. Fans have also pointed out that Homura's room looks more like a clock, easily a reference to her time manipulation magic hiding in plain sight.

As seen in the original anime, covered in a purple aura-like light, Homura has the ability to control large objects with her magic. While this might be only for weapons, it still shows that Homura can use magic on physical objects. With this in mind, it could be possible for Homura to redecorate with her magic when her technology cannot do the trick.

Overall, I love the changes that we see in Homura's home. I am hoping to be able to see more of Homura's home in the upcoming movie, Walpurgisnacht Rising. I love seeing Madoka or Mami's homes, but I would love to see more of Homura's life.

It's interesting that Rebellion doesn't feature Homura's home, even though the witch behind that impressive labyrinth is actually Homura herself. The lack of a home really does show that Homura doesn't give a second thought about her home. Homura is anywhere but inside her empty home, even within her labyrinth...

It's almost a little sad, actually.

With that said, I hope to see more of Homura's home again!

I think I mentioned this when we discussed briefly some things about Dain and Neuvillette, but I genuinely think that he's one of the very few characters with who Dain can feel more connected from all. Starting from being knowledgeable of the bigger picture of things, to the fact that they have such similar views. It was shocking to me at first to see Dain so accepting of Neuvillette being who he is and having 0 issues with him being in such a high position of power (regrettably less than what he should, although arguably similar enough as it should be post-Fontaine arc).

One of the points that make me more emotional about the two of them and that they mirror one another (each with their differing circumstances) is their struggle to find a purpose in this world, a reason to exist as the prelude to a journey to find it and act on it after that. But also the sense of belonging that they miss for not being... one thing or another, either by origins or otherwise. Neuvillette struggles with a human identity that isn't what it should've been, an identity that could've been an insult even, considering how it came to be and more importantly— from who. He struggles with understanding his emotions and those around him as he lives in a world of humans while... being very human himself, having such a strong array of emotions that makes me sentimental to think about. Then there is Dain too, who is struggling with the fact that he's turned into a beast and with the plethora of negative views he has of himself in combination of subjecting himself to situations that are far from desirable for himself.

But despite everything, both push forward and their efforts are shining through. I think that the two of them would benefit greatly from having someone there who is long-living for one, but someone who they can talk openly with about any topic without fear of judgement. Despite their inner conflicts, I could see one uplifting the other and becoming a good source of comfort and safety for the other.

There is also a topic that I find greatly interesting, which is that Dain, who is slowly "dehumanizing" himself being able to teach Neuvillette about the complexity of human feelings and in kind, this very exercise helping Dain remind himself that he continues to be human. That no matter if he sees himself as a beast, that he still retains something very precious there that he doesn't want to lose.

If things were to escalate into romantic grounds, I don't think it would be in a conventional way, but not any less meaningful. I could see Dain taking great comfort in being by Neuvillette's side, being able to reconnect with a humanity that he believes himself above because of his own circumstances and because of the bestialization of himself in his mind. He would also make him realize how much he cares about humans despite being painfully aware of their dark side and despite the even more harrowing reminder of what happened in Khaenri'ah, probably prompted by some remark from the other's end. All in all, I think it'd be plausible of them to see romance as an extension of how their relationship develops, as one more side to it that doesn't detract from the rest that they've built and that causes in them a higher pleasure.

Admittedly, I have a lesser basis for this than I had for Dain and Neuvilette not necessarily because they belong to different fandoms, but also because it's more on pure... vibes? So I apologize in advance that this won't be as articulate as the former was.

For this case in particular, I'd put Dain in the post-Genshin story timeframe, where he's done everything that was in his hand to make of Teyvat a better world and fought for humanity to the last, everything reaching a positive outcome. Thanks to this, he's able to rest finally, to give himself a break and to slowly reconnect with himself. He's in a situation in which he's exhausted from all those centuries fighting for everyone else but for himself, so he would take a more passive and laidback position in Solaris-3.

As for why Calcharo here, I think that he's someone with who Dain could have a good relationship with. What briefly we had them interact was a relationship that could be mutually-beneficial born from the acknowledgement of one another as capable individuals who they can trust, even if in a superficial way. The way I'd imagine the possibility of romantic scenarios go is with time shared together, completely dependent on the comfort they have in one another's presence, maybe even the discovery of something in dangerous situations in which one or the others gets to become key for their safety and make their relationship grow. Something like that could be fair, I believe.

Black cat energy.

Cedar often comes off as snarky or mean, due to her frequent sarcastic comments and more obviously cynical attitude - especially outside of her waitressing hours. She’d roll her eyes and glare often, and she doesn’t have the friendliest exterior.

But she means well, she does, really. She just doesn’t know how to express her thoughts and emotions in a more pleasant way, so she tends to default to sarcasm, especially when something happens that she doesn’t like.

In truth, she holds a lot more emotions in her chest than she lets on. She’s gullible and easily riled up, and whatever “calm, unbothered” vibe she may give off initially would often disappear the more you get to know her. It’s only due to her desperation in “controlling” these emotions that her cynicism tends to prevail instead, but she’s learning to be healthier with her expressions.

hrm hrm hrm ... under the assumption that love, at least for the first question, extends to its platonic and familial forms, then the simple answer would be the phrase from her inspiration tag, "love is pain. pain is punishment". the third part would simply repeat, "and punishment is love".

although I've discussed her view on romantic love in small headcanons, I do not think it would stray too far from her ideals surrounding familial and platonic love. after all, are all forms of love not customary for obligation? is there not something to be given and laid in your partner's hands no matter the bond?

while I highly disagree with the notion that Zephia had any actual love, whether romantic or any, for Sombron, as she debunks this thought when speaking to Griss in Chapter 23, the way she behaves towards him is what she would expect from her partner; obedient, eager to please, and attentive to all she says. since he was the one to find her, centuries ago, she is the one who owes him all she is. servitude is the only expression of love that she believes is genuine.

anyone can say they love you. anyone can perform grand feats of public love. anyone can open their coin pouch and buy a gift in your name. but only a few can, without hesitation, throw themselves at your feet to make you smile.

the only difference between romantic, familial, and platonic love is the degree of affection; and how much you would sacrifice and lose in their name. "love is pain. pain is punishment. and punishment is love." can you really love someone if you are not willing to cut out their heart at the happenstance of betrayal? what of infidelity? failure? pain and punishment will always have a place in Zephia's heart, and, as such, will be equally taught to those she loves.

if you do not commit to the part, then you will be punished. if you do not reciprocate, then you will be hurt. to be loved, and be able to love, is the consent to withstand the inevitable pain that follows any relationship. and because Zephia will only love someone she sees as worthy, first, then her approach calls for their servitude, not the other way around.

love is pain, but that pain is not a two-way street until you tilt the scales of the hierarchy and step out of line.

First off, welcome to the pmmm rp community!

I'm happy that you came to me because this moment gives me the chance to happily promote my lovely mutuals!

Neg from @heartbinders offers lovely versions of Homura and Madoka on their multi-muse blog as secondary muses. Neg's Shinji Ikari (from the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise) also has a pmmm verse, if you are interesting in writing with some non-canon pmmm characters. Overall, there are a lot of characters on Neg's blog. She is really friendly and passionate with each of her muses!

Next has to be the creative Ryn. She is a rather unique case because both of her blogs contain connections to pmmm world, which is something that I adore. First, I have to share her OC blog ( @wolfvirago ) because Robin is an amazing character. Naturally, Robin has a pmmm verse. However, there is also her multi-muse blog ( @shibemuses ) that offers a large amount of pmmm muses. There is Madoka, Sayaka, Homura, Mami, Nagisa, and even Kyubey. Isn't that wonderful? The best of both worlds! Of course, her multi-muse has other options beyond the pmmm world. (But make sure to still check out Robin, though! Original characters, even if they don't have a pmmm verse, deserve the world!)

Next has to be Kasy from @deathdanse, which is a side blog to her @misfxts blog. Kasy is another fascinating blog because her pmmm muse comes straight from the spin-off called Puella Magi Tart Magica. Now, if you don't know... Puella Magi Tart Magica follows the story of Tart, the very same historical person that would later become Joan of Arc. While Kasy does not roleplay Tart, she does roleplay a very fasinating character called Corbeau. She is both seen in the Puella Magi Tart Magica manga, but she did indeed get featured in the Magia Record app. Magia Record brought Puella Magi Tart Magica to life. Either way, read Puella Magi Tart Magica. It's a classic. More historical spin-offs should exist in the pmmm franchise.

I think that for this case, what would work the best is to set Dain in the post-Genshin story verse I've set for him. He's in a situation in which he's grown tired, he wants to just do his thing until he passes away (his lengthy life still continues, he just wouldn't be immune to mortality if something were to happen to him). However, even though he wouldn't be as sacrificial as he used to be in Teyvat due to a plethora of reasons, he would be unable to turn a blind eye on what is happening in Jinzhou and perhaps what follows after in other parts of Solaris-3. Anything that is reminiscent of the Abyss is highly triggering to him enough to incite him to take action when he can do something about it and the Lament would be no exception.

More Jinhsi-centric now, I have to admit that I was close to bold the grumpy and sunshine trope, but it doesn't feel quite right. If anything because Jinhsi is carrying her own past, a fabricated identity born from Jué choosing her as its appointed resonator and a duty to carry on her shoulders. Nevertheless, she still carries her own individuality which is what I'd like to focus more on for this case. I'd see Dain as a kind of confidant with the passing of time, relying on her discoveries he's had of the bigger picture of the world given her interest in keeping tabs with that through her relationship with the Black Shores. But despite what he went through and his mostly bleak view on anything regarding himself, he carries a sense of positivity towards others. He would remind her to give herself time to take care of herself as she does of others, as well as he would also be the kind of respecting her resolve when more self-sacrificial moments arise (like the Mt. Firmament episode) because he wouldn't dare to say something to not do something like that when he himself did it at the cost of what he truly wanted for himself.

If these ideas sound plausible to you, I think that eventually this could lead to something of a more romantic nature down the line. Dain isn't one to need to be introduced as anything special to Jinhsi nor he thinks that it'd be exactly right to not keep things under wrap due to her role in Jinzhou's society and the weight of expectations set on her, and I also don't think that he might be glued eternally on Jinzhou either, as it was said that one Lament episode leads to a chain of effects on other places too. But it'd definitely be the place he would always come back to and of course inform her of his discoveries and the situations wherever he goes.

All in all, Dain would be in a place where he's trying to come to terms with the fact that he succeeded at long last where he had failed, that he did something good for humanity in Teyvat and thus he needn't continue to feel so negatively about himself with baby steps. He's still scarred. He still has a hard time to paint himself at least in a neutral view and bask in things he would've wanted for himself. But unlike how it'd be in Teyvat before the deed is done, there is hope.

Unlike with Jinhsi where I think that it'd be more of a stable kind of situation of staying more in one place and have a chance of seeing the development in a more lineal way, I feel that with Acheron it'd be different. Starting from the premise that I could paint Dain here in three different points of time: during Khaenri'ah, post-Cataclysm and post-Genshin story.

To put it briefly, and given some shared traits with the Imaginary Tree, I extend Dain's realm of possibilities of being in different places thanks to his intimate connection to Irminsul. Furthermore, I think that it enters well within the realm of possibilities for him to be seen in other worlds as he seems to be a bearer of the power from beyond and, as per my observations from powers that caused great changes to Teyvat, these powers always seem to stem from outside Teyvat.

With that said, I think that it'd be possible for the two of them to meet sporadically in different moments, each making Dain have different experiences and views the more he knows and the more he's experienced. Given Acheron's circumstances too, I don't think that they'd be the kind of establishing anything (even a friendship) in one single place, but more of a culmination of several meetings across different places.

Perhaps it wouldn't be so in the beginning due to Dain barely seeing things outside of the box (moments in which he would be the one learning more from Acheron than the other way around, I'd say), but as time progresses he would be able to stand at a point in which he can share his views of a much larger picture with her, maybe coinciding at some points, maybe digressing on others. Whichever the case, it would come from a place of respect and willingness to learn. If it were to come down to romantic grounds, more than lovers I'd think of them as companions. Acheron's waning memory is worth taking in consideration in this as well, which is another reason why I'd see them more of the kind of two individuals who might take comfort in the other's presence, even feeling safe with one another despite the great danger one could suppose for the other.
