so, my partner's birthday is coming up in like a month, and he's a nerd (affectionate bc i'm a nerd too like y'all know me !!!). i've been trying to find the perfect thing to get him, and literally, as if my perfect gift vibes radiated out to the ether . . . this gadget that's been sold out for months was re-stocked this morning. the best way to describe it is that it can be programmed and customized, and a lot of people use it to play old games from various consoles! now, my partner isn't one to like keep up with things like this! he doesn't get any marketing emails or anything either . . . so i thought i was gonna be able to just slip onto the website this morning, order this thing in his favorite color, then surprise him on his birthday.

tell me why... while i'm in a meeting and dropping this thing into my virtual shopping cart, he peeks his head into the room?? i scrambled to shut my mac, and i thought i was in the clear . . . but this man's gonna go and text me: 'i have the same thing in my cart in the exact same color! :)' and i had to fess up to the birthday surprise. 😭 he is very touched and excited, but wah!
