thinking about how dany will never turn away from the suffering of others, especially those who have been oppressed and forced into subjugation! those who have never had the freedom to even dream! those who are hurting and reaching for hope! she looks because she wants to honor them. she looks because she wants them to know she cares. she looks because when the time comes for her to make decisions and decrees and laws, she wants to do so with those who have suffered most in mind, so that she can lead them toward more opportunity, prosperity, and safety. she takes the suffering of others upon herself and bears it, so that she can ease the burdens weighing upon her people.

i'm also thinking about how dany turns away from her own suffering. her suffering is like a pit growing deep down within or like a weeping child begging to be held. she walks away from her suffering again and again and again, believing that she must move forward because, in the end, it isn't her feelings or internal self that matters; she belongs solely to her people. so long as her people are safe, all is well; that is what she cares about. if she looks back, she will lose her way; if she looks back, she will doom herself, and thus, her people will be doomed. so her suffering must wait, must warm itself in the darkest corners and the bleakest portions of her heart until she is forced to look.
