The process had been painful and messy, but the weird white lump of mush Captain Muguruma had helped them making was at last growing in size, as he had said he would. Despite baking as an activity sounding like hell for an Arrancar who struggled with time, quantities and precision in the kitchen, having someone guide them through it had made it all somewhat less anxiety-inducing than when they'd have to cook something by themselves, against all predictions.

Still, it wasn't enough for Miele to buy Kensei's statement from that morning about how baking and cooking were two different things, suggesting that perhaps they'd find the former to be easier to learn: the amount of flour on the floor (and on themselves) and the previous two failed attempts were a clear indicator that Miele wasn not cut out for baking as much as they were atrocious at cooking.

Despite Kensei's warnings to leave the dough rest for at least one hour and a half before continuing, Miele lifted the cloth covering the bowl out of curiosity, and brought their index finger to feel its consistence. The way their finger would leave little dents on its surface was really funny to them for some reason, and thus Miele started snickering as they kept pestering the dough.
