Salvatore's head is buzzing pleasantly as he lies sprawled out in a chair in Dio's library, one of Dio's many science books open in his lap. It's easier to understand than other textbooks he's read previously, but still, he's taking his time with it, slowly digesting each word as he goes.

Back when Salvatore was a kid, he used to do this all the time. He'd head to his local library, find a quiet corner, and spend hours reading every thick science volume he could. Even if he didn't understand it half the time, it felt good to try. It's been a long time since he read anything like this, but the challenge is thrilling rather than completely demoralizing. For the first time in decades, he's learning something new.

He's so engrossed in the tome that he hardly notices Dio coming to join him, nor does he notice the bottle of wine presented to him. He does, however, notice when his keen hearing picks up on the sound of something pouring. The sound startles him out of his focus and he looks up to see Dio pouring them each a glass of blood-red wine.

"Oh," he says, shifting in his seat as he glances down at the label on the bottle. Somewhat predictably, the words on the label are mostly unfamiliar to him. Some French bullshit that he probably couldn't even pronounce right if he tried. What does catch his attention, though, is the date printed beneath the brand name.

"1860?" Salvatore wrinkles his nose and snorts. "Damn, that shit's older than both of us, huh? The hell'd you get that?" With Dio's reach and influence, Salvatore supposes it isn't unreasonable that he'd have the good shit, but still.

When one of the glasses is offered to him, he accepts it with a slight smile. "Thanks." Even if he can't get drunk anymore, the act of drinking is still enjoyable now and then. Salvatore's never been much a fan of wine, but he'll never turn down the chance to try some.

"This Brief History of Time shit is interesting," he says, hardly able to hide his genuine excitement. "Did you know that the big bang theory was only thought up by some egghead priest named Georges Lemaître?" He's certain he butchered that pronunciation, but whatever. "Fuckin' insane. 'Course, he didn't call it that yet, but still. We're still learnin' so much about our world all the time--ain't that groovy as shit?"

It takes Salvatore a few seconds to realize what he said, and immediately his ears pin back in embarrassment as he looks away. "I-I mean, 's kinda cool, I guess."
