Oh boy. The irony in him owning stim toys is that... he doesn't use them very much. But that doesn't mean he doesn't stim in some way or fashion. His is mostly stuff like zoning out (which apparently does count as a stim, who'd have known?), and the most common one he tends to do. He also chews on things, namely straws whenever he gets them, and paces when listening to music.

He doesn't have a lot of stims because he's sort of opening up to the idea of doing these things without getting told off for it.

Now his self-regulation, that's kind of difficult to explain because he doesn't really have a way to self-regulate? Like at all? The closest thing he's actually got to that is to get himself away from the person or thing that's got his emotions so out of wack or to just stay quiet the entire time until he can leave because he knows that it's not entirely appropriate to have an outburst in public.

It's kind of a mess, honestly.

Norman Bates fluff headcanons

a/n: hello, so as part of rebooting and opening my page to a variety of things i like, i'm posting my first ever slasher/horror headcanons for my favourite boy, Norman. it's very fluffy and i am so nervous for some reason. also, i've never used a gif before, so i hope it works.

Norman is the softest and sweetest boy, this is a permanent fact and absolutely nothing can convince me otherwise

this means he is painfully shy, especially when first proceeding in a relationship with his beloved

most of which he finds difficult to believe is not a figment of his imagination

so anything that generally follows a relationship is few and far between

like compliments are at first presented in great stutters or soft mumbles under his breath. he is very grateful you don't ask him to repeat himself

well, at least not so early on

"You l-l-look so p-r-r-retty t-t-today." "I'm sorry, I didnt quite hear that last part."

Norman is at first very frigid to physical affection or anything of the sort, which is hard because he is so touch starved he doesn't even know it

Norman will be amazed at how effortlessly you make it seem, compared to his laboured breathes of stress and anxiety, when you casually stride forwards and gently adjust his attire so lovingly. Sometimes even lingering touches on neck, shoulders, jaw and cheeks.

"I thought it was a little crooked, but it was just some lint." You grin while then he'd stare in awe as you go about your day.

he tries, oh boy, does he try. Norman either always asks for permission for small gestures like hand holding or always apologizes for accidentally grazing his knuckles against yours

its a great feat to help him break the habit, but his beloved helps him understand and break down barriers

the biggest forward step in your relationship is when you both share your first kiss

it was just after an at home dinner date (as they all are) when you were both just getting done cleaning up when you stumbled right into his arms, his sudsy hands clamming to your arms

neither of you had ventured this close in proximity before. the moment felt foreign, but right, you'd be a fool not to follow it

so you leaned in and gently pressed your lips against his

Norman was absolutely stunned for the moment. it's not until you slip your arms around his neck then he reacts all the same

and so sure enough, the damming uphill battle is won and when norman becomes comfortable to make movements, he becomes really comfortable

gestures include placing kisses in your hair as you work the front desk while he makes his way to the office

Norman likes to wrap his arms around your waist and gently pull you closer to his person. this becomes especially present when guests become too friendly for his liking towards you

he is not responsible for the outcome that customer may occur

during the later evenings of the day, when the two of you settle down for a moment, he'll take your hand in his, while lacing your fingers with the other, and places kisses on the back of your hand and between your knuckles

this usually leads to cuddles which quickly become a must for him

it took a while to convince him to new sleeping arrangements, but when you both fell asleep together on the sofa, he remembers how much his heart swelled at the peaceful look upon your face and decided that his mother couldn't sway him from such a sight

and so cuddles become a prime ritual during the now shared nighttime routine

whether he's the big spoon or the little spoon, Norman is flexible to either so long as there is contact. contact that you are present and not leaving anytime soon is the only rule, per se, when sharing the bed.
