at my big age, after reading many pieces of work both online and from proper published authors, I promise you I cannot tellthe difference between the quality of 2 chapters. If the story itself is a masterpiece overall, a less than ideal chapter will not change that. And knowing your talent, what you consider less than ideal is something we will eat up and be amazed by nonetheless because it is a product of your brain. It is only normal to be harsh on oneself, but please understand that you need not worry about any harshness from our end, we appreciate you writing for us, await it with great excitement, and we will love whatever you give us. Write however, and whatever you feel is necessary for the plot, pacing be damned because I promise you we will be frothing at the mouth at the chapter regardless of what you choose to do. Please don't be so critical of yourself💗 And please take care of yourself. Remember to eat and drink water and smile everyday💗

A part of me knows that, but another just feels so nervous, I guess? Because I've been getting comments saying that the story is beginning to drag or that it's not very exciting anymore and I know a chapter like this probably won't help. Granted that those people are still a minority but, sometimes, it feels like I'm just waiting for the chapter that will make people lose interest in the fic. Or the chapter that validates their claims, I guess? Which I know is silly because, again — they're a very small group and it's impossible to please everyone — but our brains don't always listen to reason.

And, admittedly, none of this is helped by my overall mental state right now, which isn't the best xD (but could also be worse, to be fair)

That said, I'm still going to finish the chapter because I know I'm just blowing things out of proportion due to insecurities and perfectionism. It can't be helped if this chapter is a little choppier because we're at a point in the story where there won't be any long, detailed scenes because Ga On and Yo Han aren't talking all that much. And it's better to speed past those days of silence than drag things out just for the sake of what I think would be more appropriate pacing. It would just be boring — not to mention depressing — to draw things out.

And if nothing else, I want to get to what's beyond this chapter. Which means that the sooner I get it over with, the better xD

(But I admit I'm also kind of high-key struggling with the impulse to write on other Devil Judge things, possibly because I'm deluding myself that those would be easier or quicker. Or maybe a part of me still yearns for the emotional catharsis that would come from writing Yo Han's POV after chapter 39 because I know for a fact that I'd get a good, solid cry out of it (I say as if I cry often when I write — I really don't. It's an incredibly rare occurrence that only happens once in a blue moon. But I would definitely cry while writing that). But I'm going to try and be disciplined and write chapter 41 instead)

Anyway. Thank you so much for the kind message. I'm so grateful for all the love and support you all show me, and I truly hope that I'll be able to get back into updating more frequently sometime soon. Not because I feel pressured or anything like that, but because there's still so much ahead of us and so much story to tell and I just can't wait to share it with you all.

Shinichi you should hang with others when you have a cold, Kogoro is right to take you home. That's probably why he was grumpy, as he knew he probably wouldn't be allowed to stay, but he had to try and sneak inside regardless.

Man, the guy could have at least knocked.

It still hurts so much how Toichi is Kaito's favourite magician. While in the fandom he's probably the most hated character T-T

Kaito is already so much more calm around bodies than Ran is, and even knows what to do without others shouting orders at her, though I do know a part of that is because of the misogynistic way Gosho writes women.

I love how Megure leaves us hints about KID being involved (obviously it's not a surprise for me but it's so fun to think about how people probably assumed it was about the case only to be a foreshadowing of Kaito's involvement).

Wait they shoot arrows to decide the lottery in Japan? I wish they did that here.

Arthur - In this exact order: Arthur will ask what's wrong, then he'll ask if you want to talk about it, and finally, he'll ask if there's anything he can do to help cheer you up. He's always happy to be a shoulder to cry on for however long you need, and he loves challenging himself to see how quickly he can help cheer you up. He'll even drag you out of camp to "get away from this damn place," in hopes of lifting your spirits. John - No matter what the issue is, John will always reply "there ain't no need to feel like that!" He'll let you vent for as long as you want, often cracking light jokes to try and ease your mood, and if you want, he'll stay up and have a couple of drinks with you to help try and calm your nerves. John's not the best with advice, but he's a good listener. Dutch - If Dutch doesn't know you well, he'll simply tell you to "keep your chin up," and leaves you to it. But if you are close to him, Dutch will give you a lovely heart warming speech about how you deserve to feel better, how much you do for the gang, and will surprisingly go out of his way to help cheer you up however he can. Hosea - The first thing Hosea does is bring you a cup of your favourite drink. He then sits down and listens for hours, all whilst gently rubbing your back or shoulder. Hosea always seems to find the positive side of things, and always has perfect advice to help you get back on track. His heart is full of love, and you'll see how lovely he is within minutes of venting.

Javier - Javier tells you that the best thing you can do is get away from camp for a few days to help clear your mind, and offers to tag along. He'll do whatever you fancy, whether that's camping in the wilderness, or renting a hotel and enjoying a few nights in town. He also enjoys getting out of camp, and express how much he loves your company. Bill - He's not always the best at comforting people he doesn't know very well, but he'll always try. Bill often stumbles over his words as he attempts to give you a heart warming talk about how "you deserve to feel better because you're such a good person!" If you know Bill well then he'll ask if you need a hug, and that benefits both you and him. Charles - This man has all the patience and sympathy in the world, and he can sit and listen for weeks on end. Charles is always there for you, regardless of how 'silly' or 'small' your issue is. He always asks if there's anything he can do to help, and will hold your hands in his as he promises you that things will slowly get better, even if it feels like they won't. Kieran - One of the first things that Kieran says is "you don't deserve to feel like this, you're such a kind soul, you deserve only the best," and he truly means that. Kieran will do what he can to help lighten your mood, and suggests going for a walk/ride to help clear your mind, and spend some time away from camp, which is always a good idea. Swanson - He's one of the few people who truly knows what it's like to be deep down in the dumps, but Swanson reminds you that there's always hope, and things can only go up from here. If you're not religious then he'll tell you to believe in yourself, not a higher being, as only you are in control of your future. He's a perfect listener, and his advice always fits the situation you're in. Lenny - Lenny will sit and listen to you vent for as long as you need. He always tries to lighten the mood with witty jokes and sarcastic comments, but only when it's suitable. And no matter how bad you're feeling, Lenny always says "well, at least you ain't Micah." If you need a distraction then Lenny will share some of his favourite books with you; and if you need to let off steam, he'll take you out to practise your shooting, maybe rob a stagecoach on the way back to camp. Sean - No matter what the issue is, Sean has all the sympathy in the world, and a few jokes to go with it. He'll do anything to make you feel better, even if that means riding Ennis whilst attempting to juggle. Sean is always quick with jokes and comments that never fail to make you laugh, but he knows exactly when to buckle down and be all ears when you need a shoulder to cry on. Trelawny - One of the first things Trelawny says is "cheer up," but he doesn't mean it in a patronizing or unsympathetic way. He's always happy to open his ears and listen to you vent, or help distract you with a few magic tricks, possibly targeting them at your least favourite gang members. And Trelawny won't stop until he sees you smile, laughter is a bonus. Micah - If you're not close to Micah then he won't say shit. But if you are close to him, Micah is happy to listen to you rant, encouraging you to let it all out of your system. He has a cynical mindset, and bluntly tells you "I'd say things will get better, but they probably won't." At least he's being honest! If you need a distraction, he'll take you out of camp for some shooting practise, which also lets off steam. Susan - Susan may come across as a hard-as-stone woman, but she's soft and mushy when she needs to be. She'll mother hen you, reminding you what a good and honest member of the gang you are, and how lucky everybody is to have you. Susan will ask if there's anything she can do to help, and lets you know that she's going to dump your chores onto someone else so you have some time to yourself. Mary-Beth - She's always happy to sit and listen for as long as you need, offering advice here and there, reminding you that things will eventually get better. Mary-Beth also offers to read you a passage from one of her favourite books, explaining that it never fails to lift her spirits, and once she reads it out to you, you can understand why. Tilly - She will have you lie back in her lap and play with your hair whilst you rant away. Tilly is all ears, nodding along to show you that she's paying attention, and giving advice if you ask for it. Once you're done, she'll offer to take you into town to get away from camp for a while, going shopping or treating yourselves to a nice meal at the saloon. Molly - If you two aren't close, she'll simply tell you to "cheer up, these things will pass," and then leave you to it. But if you are close, Molly will be a shoulder to cry on whenever you need it. If somebody has upset you then Molly will go all out, bitching about them, cursing them, maybe even plotting revenge depending on what they've done. She's a good friend to a few lucky people. Karen - Even if you two aren't close, Karen will have sympathy for you, and will listen to you rant and ramble. She'll offer to have a few drinks to help distract you for a while, or she'll take you out of camp to practise shooting, which is one of her favourite methods to blow off steam. Don't be surprised if you two end up drunk in town, sharing your life stories and dark secrets. Jack - He may not quite understand how the world works, but Jack is always there to sit and listen whenever you need it. Of course, you'll have to simplify your explanation on what's wrong to him. Jack will ask if you want to play together to help cheer you up, or he'll attempt to read you one of his favourite books, often going on his own little rambles about how much he enjoys the plot and characters. Sadie - She will go on and on about all the positives she sees in you; your strength, looks, personality, perseverance, etc. Sadie will obviously listen to whatever you need to vent about, but she suggests practising some shooting or knife throwing whilst you do it, just to help let off some steam. She gets very involved in your problems, second-hand feeling the things you're going through, and sometimes getting more worked up than you are! Uncle - Everybody may view Uncle as a drunk, old fool, but he's a true friend, even if you two don't really interact. Uncle loves gossip, but when you need him to keep quiet, he'll take your secrets to the grave. He obviously offers you a drink, both of you swigging away as you rant and ramble for as long as you need. Uncle cracks jokes here and there to help lighten the mood, but remains serious when needed. Pearson - He has genuine sympathy for you, and if you need a shoulder to cry on, he's there. Sure, he'll probably end up somehow relating your situation to his navy days, but his stories can often be distracting, and you might pick up some somewhat useful advice from him. Pearson's very happy for you to keep him company with your babbling as he prepares supper, or joins you for a drink once the camp is quiet. Strauss - Simply tells you "these bad times will pass," whilst not looking up from his books and leaves the conversation there.

Finally home lol but girl that's not dark at all. I love when people are open and honest with their struggles. Mental illness is a serious thing that should be talked about more. I could tell you my whole story about my own struggles with suicidal thoughts and attempts but that would be too long for one ask haha

I myself am religious I guess lol. I go to church, not so much in the last year and a half. I guess I'm a born again Christian but I've always cringed at that phrasing seeing as I'm nowhere near as changed as others in my church circle lol. Got "saved" in 2017 and have been struggling to find my footing in this world since. What do I believe, what do I not believe? Can I not believe everything and still be a Christian?? (Holy shit I just blew my own mind with that question 🤣🤣)

i appreciate your kind words, and i feel the same. i'm happy when ppl can open up about their mental struggles bc it makes it loose the stigma. plus, it let's others know they're not alone.

i think when it comes to religion, there is no right or wrong way to do it for yourself (as long as you are not hurting you or others). so, i think you're doing just fine if you don't know what do as of right now. first and foremost, you got your whole life to figure things out, and also, regardless of if you believe in everything or not when it comes to christianity, god still loves you regardless. he made you for a reason bc he loves you, so you're not doing anything wrong by still figuring yourself and your religion out :)

my dream job would be to be a singer. i love singing, and i hope one day i get to use my voice in that way, but who knows if that's gonna happen. genuinely, i would love to just do something in the art field, and that could mean singing, dancing, acting, writing, cooking, literally... anything. i love all things that have to do with art. but singing would be the dream scenario.

technically, i did start one back when i was a kid, like 13-14. i posted covers. i think i made three videos and then left the channel for dead. and i think recently i got a copyright strike or something like that on there bc i used music in the background while i sang. youtube is ridiculous in that way. but if i were to make a newer one (which like, i kinda want to do and kinda don't) i would want to be a movie commentary channel. i know, so original. but i think it would be fun. but i also think if i did make a channel, i would be doing all types of videos, not just commentary so... idk if anyone would actually watch me lol
