Oh look they released the first preview chapter for Shadow of Kyoshi (and it's the first chapter, not a random one from later on). What do you want from this book? Personal I hope it's about Kyoshi adapting to her new position as Avatar, and features an entirely original story which doesn't awkwardly shoehorn the stuff from Avatar Day in (honestly I'd be okay if they never get round to redoing that).

I agree, the last thing I want is just Kyoshi’s POV on stuff we already know about. I think I have enough of a handle on her character by this point that I understand why she did what she did with Chin, so I don’t need it expanded upon. I’d much rather let F.C. Yee have all the freedom he needs to follow his muse, because his muse is Top Tier, and he’s one of a rare breed of storytellers who can keep me on the edge of my seat with the desire to know what happens next. I want to be surprised and delighted, not to get redundant explanations for stuff I already know.

I should note, though, that I haven’t read the released chapter. I already know I’m buying this book as soon as it’s out (I mean, I wound up being two copies of Rise of Kyoshi), so I don’t need to spoil myself, even if it’s the actual first chapter. I want to experience it for the first time with the hardcover in hand and the ability to go straight to the second chapter as soon as I’m done.

I should really add “bibliophile” to my list of personality quirks. XD
