141+ Colonel Konig With An S/O That Works IT In Marine Corps
TW: Fluff, Sfw

Requested By: Anon
N/A: I had no idea how to write this but I really tried my best. I hope it doesn't suck lol
Reblogs And Comments Are Highly Appreciated!! :)
Simon "Ghost" Riley:
Ghost knew from your file and when you told him, he wasn't surprised but could see how dedicated you were to your job
He'll just listen to you on what you do
Lowkey, he loves listening to your voice. It's comforting to him
You had an opportunity to show him what you do and he thought he was pretty cool what you do
"You're amazing at this, love"
He'll say as he thinks about going to Price to have you join the team. He believes you'll be great to the team (also because he wants you there and wants to see you 🤭
He might end up just staring at you the whole time
He won't ever ask questions. He just listens to you the whole time, with small "mhm" or "mm" so that you know he's listening (he's honestly more focused on you)
John "Soap" Mactavish:
John didn't know until you told him about your job. He thought it was actually pretty cool what you do
He'll end up asking questions and you tell him without him getting confused
He admires how much you love your job and how well you do
Like Ghost, he also thought about bringing you onto the team. He thought you'd make a great asset to the team (also because he wants to spend time with you)
John ends up getting lost while staring at you (to him, you are gorgeous)
While you're explaining something to him, he cuts you off by kissing you softly. Making you smile into the kiss
"I'm very impressed, Bonnie. You truly are amazing"
Most of the time, he's listening to you but Lowkey, getting distracted looking at you the whole time
John "Captain" Price:
He already knew from reading through your file. He was impressed by your work and how well you managed to get things done quickly
You explained to him a bit more on how everything is handled and how much I
He listens to you the whole time while walking with you
He ended up calling Laswell, telling her that he wanted you on the team because your stats were good and he couldn't pass it up (also he loves you so he wants you around more often)
"You are wonderful at this stuff, love. You don't suppose I could have a talk with your captain or Colonel?"
He does and you end up joining his task force
He kisses you softly and is glad you are on his side
Kyle "Gaz" Garrick:
Gaz knew already (He overheard Price talking about you in his office), he thought it was cool and interesting
He came and asked you questions, like what you do, how things operate, etc
He invested and listened carefully as you explained everything that you do
After explaining, he comes up and kisses you softly as you hold the sides of his cheeks
"You truly are something, aren't you? Thank you for showing me and telling me"
He thinks you'd be great on the team but he understands if you want to stay where you are working.
(let's be honest, he just wants you on base so he has someone to spend time with and love on)
"Colonel" Konig:
Like Price, he already knew your stats and read your file. He thought you'd make an excellent recruit to the team
When he met you, he was a bit stunned but he thought you were so beautiful
He's impressed by your work but he stutters over his words trying to talk to you (he gets nervous but it's ok we understand)
"Maus, I'd take you on my squad any day"
As you were explaining things, he ends up being more distracted by looking at you
He wanted you on his squad so he can spend time with you (also crushing on you hardcore)
He kissed your hand before leaving your work. He's already made up his mind that he wants you by his side and on his team.
Reblog for more content like this! It helps creators like myself tremendously :-)

It isn’t as boring as it seems, however, once Sherlock stumbles upon a mystery journal, and the author is unknown. The journal contains ciphers, a strange colour wheel, and information about magical creatures that are said to be looming in the Northwestern forests. With mysteries to solve in hand, he and Irene set out to get to the roots of the town, and the abrupt disappearance of the author of the journal. But they’re not alone - John Watson, quite the handsome nephew of the Mystery Shack owner Greg Lestrade, is on their side to help out, plus mess with Sherlock’s feelings, in a good way. Shenanigans, romance, fun, danger, and deductions ensue. Oh, and there’s also occasional SuperWhoLock and two dorky Winchester brothers to spark up the action later on. Part 1 of the Reichenbach Falls series

Enjoy!!!! <3 <3

OC Interview
As with Alice's, I was tagged by the lovely @lusus--naturae & @r0xy-w0lf.
I'm not tagging anybody for this one - but please feel free to join in if you want to.
Date of Interview: 1914
Name: "Elizabeth Mae James, but I go by Lilly"
Are you single: *Smiling as she looks over at Charles who's sitting across from her "No, I'm very happily married thank you"
Are you happy: *Hands resting on her baby bump while still grinning at Charles and their four children sitting around him* "I'd say this is the happiest I've ever been"
Are your parents still married: "No, Mama died when I was 4. As for my father? I last saw him when I was 14 "
Are you angry: "Not so much nowadays, but I'll admit, in the past I was a bit of a hothead"
Facts
Birthplace: "I was born out in the midwest somewhere. We moved around a lot so I don't actually know where exactly"
Hair color: "Red"
Eye color: ''Green''
Birth date: ''6th Dec 1873"
Current Mood: "Well as happy as I am to be carrying my 5th child, I'm so uncomfortable right now. I can't wait to be not pregnant again"
*Charles laughing* "I'll remind you of that when you tell me you're desperate to start trying for number 6.
Gender: ''Female''
Summer or winter: "Summer. The winters here in Canada can be too cold for my liking"
Morning or afternoon: "I've never been a morning person, but nothing better than a lazy afternoon"
Eight things about your love life
Are you in love: "With all my heart"
Do you believe in love at first sight: “No” *leans in and whispers while Charles is distracted by one of the kids* "I remember Dutch introducing Charles to the camp, but I didn't really pay much attention to him at first. I do remember him being around, but he never really spoke with anybody. It wasn't the gang started falling apart that I took the time to get to know him and honestly? It wasn't until he left the gang to help Rains Falls & the Wapiti that I realised I was falling in love with him"
Who ended your last relationship: “I did, it had gotten complicated and as much as me and John wanted it to work between us, I knew I had to remove myself from the equation so he could make his own decision about whether he wanted to try make it work with Abigail & Jack”
Have you ever broken someone's heart?: "You know, John later admitted to me that it almost killed him when I told him it was over, but he also told me thank you for making him see sense when it came to his family"
Are you afraid of commitment: "Not at all"
Have you hugged someone in the last week: “Each of the kids and my handsome husband of course”
Have you ever had a secret admirer: *Charles butts in before Lilly even has chance to speak* "I was so nervous to speak to Lilly in those early days, I'd just find a quiet spot and watch her get on with her day. I do wish I'd had the courage to tell her sooner though"
"Me too...though just imagine how many more kids we'd have then"
Have you ever broken your own heart: “Making the decision to leave John was tough, but even tougher was the mistake I made, which caused the only real argument me & Charles ever really had and actually made us split up for a while..."
*Charles reaches her hand* "That's all in the past now Flower. We eventually got past it and we don't need to dwell on it"
Six Choices
Love or Lust: “Love - I mean the sex is incredible, but I'm happy just being in Charles' company”
Lemonade or Iced Tea: “Iced Tea? I'd rather have a hot tea to warm me up thank you ”
Cats or Dogs: “Dogs”
A few Best friends or Regular Friends: “I still write to the likes of Tilly, Mary-Beth & Abigail. But honestly - I'd be lost without my best friend Allie constantly by myside"
Wild night out or romantic night in: “Oh my nights of getting drunk with Allie & starting a bar fight or two are well and truly behind me. Much prefer to be snuggled up in front if the fire "
Day or night: ’'Night, I like the quietness of the world”
Have You Evers
Been caught sneaking out: “Grimshaw used to have a habit of catching me in the act, trying to escape doing chores”
Fallen Down/Up the Stairs: “All the time, I'm quite possibly the clumsy person alive”
Wanted someone/something so badly it hurt: “I got everything I need right here”
Wanted to disappear: “You know, during my time in camp and everything that was going on between John & Abigail, I managed to persuade Hosea to let me travel around on my own for a while, to help clear my head and work out what I wanted from life. I'm glad I did or otherwise I'd never have met Allie”
Four preferences
Smile or eyes: “A good smile draws me in, but I feel you can see the real person by looking into their eyes”
Shorter or taller: “Preferably taller, but it doesn't matter either way”
Intelligence or Attraction: “I'm lucky I guess - I have a handsome husband who also happens to be incredibly intelligent.”
Hook up or Relationship: “I never was one for hooking up with random people, I'd much rather be in a relationship ”
Family
Do you and your family get along: “Me, Charles & the kids are quite content together.
As for my other family members? Well, I have no idea where my father is these days, if he's still alive. And Alice? For the longest time I wanted nothing to do with this random girl turning up, claiming she's my sister. But fate had a strange way of pulling us closer together and now we keep in regular contact"
Would you say you have a messed up life: "Let me give you a list:
Was it messed up to lose my mother & brother when I was only 4 and then find myself travelling around the country with my father, sleeping in the back of a wagon most nights as he prepared for his next con?
Or what about being sold to my own grandmother when daddy felt he was unable to look after me?
Or when Grandmama passed away, her husband was considering carting me off to the nearest brothel because the cheap bastard didn't want the added expense of caring for me?
There's also the man who I thought I loved, leaving me to get attacked while he went off to spend the night with a whore..."
*sighs before a huge smile appears on her face as she casts an eye over at Charles, who's now reading a story to the kids*
"But you know? Each of those moments brought me one step closer to this wonderful life with Charles and our children"
Have you ever ran away from home: “It never felt like home, but leaving my step grandfathers house & running away with Van der Linde gang was best thing I ever did"
Have you ever got kicked out: “Like I said, back in the day, it was a mutual decision between me & Hosea to leave camp before I did something stupid."
Friends
Do you secretly hate one of your friends: “Why would I? Though Mary-Beth is a bit full of herself nowadays with her being a famous author and all”
Do you consider all of your friends good friends: “Of course I do. We might have done some questionable things in the past, but we had our reasons”
Who is your best friend: "I swear if you don't say my name right now" *Allie laughing from across the room*
"I guess there's your answer - my best friend is Allie Foster. Always been right by myside through thick & thin and most probably always will be”
Who knows everything about you: “Allie knows most things. But I don't hide anything from Charles either"

Hello!! Bit of a weird request but like, could I get some HCs for what would the Queen boys be like finding out reader is a witch? I am a witch and like I'm a little insecure about just. Telling people that because a lot of people LOVE to invalidate me and my beliefs (so fun) but I just really wanna know what they'd be like. Especially with lil rituals and stuff that I do, or just like how I absolutely vibe with some people and then others I can't get over when their energy is bad.
Thank you!! :)
Hi there! I can understand having things about yourself that you are a bit insecure to talk about, so yes, I can write that! In fact, I wrote about Roger with a Witch! Reader a little while back and you can read it here! Let me know once you got this and read it, anon!
So I will be focusing on the other three, with Freddie being more platonic since the reader is more neutral.
Also, to give you a warning, I am not a Wiccan or a Witch or practice witchcraft nor am I a pagan or consider myself one of any of these things. I am writing from the POV of a culture I am not a part of. Like always, I had to read up on some stuff. So, like I always say, if I get something wrong or offensive, although anything that could be read that way is accidental, nevertheless, send me an ask or a dm to explain what I got wrong and drag me gently.
Freddie (in a platonic relationship):
You were quite a bit nervous telling Freddie. Yes, he was an extremely talented Rock legend who also happened to be your close friend. And well, since he confided in you about coming out of the closet you figure you might as well come out of your own. That is, the broom closet.
He would raise an eyebrow and say “oh really, darling!?” He asks a couple of questions about it.
Though he gives you the odd grimmerie, a book of shadows, or ingredients for your spells or potions. Sometimes too much. Like, you need another room for all of the flowers and herbs and sage he handed over to you, but you laughed it away. You’re grateful to have a friend like Freddie. Every full moon or so often, you make sure to create a spell that gives him good luck and happiness for him.
Brian:
I think he would be a touch intimidated when you tell him over dinner. He blinks and then he asks a few questions.
“I’ve read some things...do you...do you make potions?” With a relaxed smile, you nodd. He asks about your different rituals and you explain it cheerfully. One time you have to call the corners before a spell and you bet Brian would be in the back to observe quietly, soaking in information. So you do all of your rituals together. You even read Tarot cards for him once and he gently touches them, admiring the art.
He just thinks you’re amazing and when he knows a ceremony just happened, he gives you a hug and says “hello, love, did it go okay?”
“It went perfectly!”
He kisses your forehead and says “I’m glad.”
Plus, it’s not a coincidence that the imagery of spells, magic, and craft is more common in his songs now with some magical, beautiful figure representing love..so yead, he basically writes nice songs about you!
Sometimes you light candles as he writes songs, strumming on the guitar, and he thanks you. “It’s for inspiration and peace...” You give him crystals that he places around and little gifts like that. When he’s feeling depressed or even a bit gloomy, you suggest mediation and a special spell together. He looks at you and smiles, moved that you do something so special for you to help him.
Deaky:
It is more of an accident. You had just bought yourself a pentagram necklace and thought it was tucked beneath your sweater. You were both enjoying your tea room and as you reached to refill your cup, it slipped out.
“Ah-what is that, my dear?” he asked, head tilted.
Feeling your face go hot, you mumbled “I...I...I’m a witch, John...”
He glances around, hoping no one is giving you any evil looks or else they will have to reckon with him. No one bats an eye.
He then leans closer. “Wha...really?”
You sputter out “yes...”
So that tea date wound up with you explaining everything.
Since then, John tries to help you out. He organizes your crystals and even wipes them clean (”No, this is the right spot for it! See it! Right where the sun hits it-it’s ah, lovely! Don’t you think, Y/N?”). If you both are at a store and you can’t decide what to buy, he might crack a pendulum joke and then lo and behold, you have one in your pocket! He then apologizes ten times. But like Brian, he observes and learns a lot.
Though one time you witnessed some drama among the community and noticed hexes and curses were taking place. Running into his house, you got into his arms and sobbed in fear.
He patted your head and went “There...there...”
You asked if you could use the shower and you nodded. He got out calming candles and lighted incense for your nerves.
He even joined you in the shower. You kept scrubbing furiously, repeating “if I am truly cursed today, let the water wash the hex away, if I am truly cursed today, let water wash the hex away...” Once you were sure, he let the water run and hugged you, feeling it’s heat and comforting pressure. Then you got into pajamas and cuddled. Then you knew you could trust him with anything and it would be alright.

I'm with you 'til the end of the line.
Entry: 004
// Cinema //
Marvel Cinematic Universe
MARVEL MANIA
Superhero movies were not my thing. The only superhero movie I have watched as a kid was Spiderman. I am not into sci-fi or superhero movies albeit being a huge fan of cinema. But during this quarantine, I decided to experiment with my taste and try to indulge in a new set of genre – the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These movies were a far cry from films that are to my liking, such as “Brooklyn” and “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape”. I used to find superhero movies corny or cheesy, because they were not based on real people and I fancy movies that tackle the inner spectrum of humanity. Additionally, I used to think that actors who choose to be in these movies are not “real actors” because portraying a superhero does not really seem to me as a role where you have to internalize the character. I was probably the only person in my class who did not cry when someone said “I love you, 3000” after the Endgame came out, and the only one who did not get the “Wakanda forever” reference. That changed because yester night, I finally finished the entire MCU. I came in with a viewing guide from my friends and I came out feeling like I just had a whole cultural experience.
THE AVENGERS
I like all of them. Except maybe the Captains. I don’t like Captain America. I understand that he’s supposed to be the poster boy of “superheroes” where he’s all righteous, courageous, virtuous and kind to everyone – but that does not seem realistic at all. His character just seemed predictable and bland for me. Maybe that’s why I prefer Tony Stark, he is more dimensional. He is someone who is unapologetic, makes mistakes, smart, arrogant; but his heart will always come from a good place. During battles, it’s always Tony Stark who is thinking of ways to end them (like how to diffuse Ultron at Sokovia) so I feel as if it’s him that should be leading them. Captain America only lead them because he was born in 1918 (just kidding, don’t eat me Steve Rogers stans). He also looks way too good. It’s unreal. What a knucklehead (Loki will agree with me on this). Jk. Anyways, he earned plus points from me when he returned the infinity stones successfully. As for Captain Marvel, I don’t think I need to explain why I find her insufferable.
A little piece about Spiderman. I like this reboot of Spiderman, and Tom Holland deserves all the hype he got because he worked so hard for his movies. No one can beat Tobey Maguire of course, but we are all just glad that Tom did not ruin Spiderman for us. The only thing I did not like about his reboot was that he relied too much on Mr. Stark. Tobey’s Spiderman never relied on anyone, he was just his own superhero. But for the sake of integrating him into the MCU, I guess that they have make this fun and fresh Peter Parker juvenile in order to be able to develop his character more. So I think I’ll give it a pass.
I personally like the Thor films the best. Because it was based on Norse mythology. Because of Loki. Because Anthony Hopkins is in it. I dislike the Captain Marvel movie the most.
ENDGAME THOUGHTS. We did not need Captain Marvel. Thor did not deserve to become a drunkard and a greasehead – he’s a freaking Norse God! Why was Pepper Potts at the final battle against Thanos? Thank you, Doctor Strange. Tony was genuinely and undeniably- the heart of the Avengers.
SCORSESE, COPPOLA & PEWDIEPIE
Along with its colossal popularity, the MCU movies have also acquired prominent detractors. Prior to watching the entire MCU, I would have probably agreed with Scorsese, Coppola and Felix (here is his “controversial” video on “I don’t like Marvel movies”).
“Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.” – Martin Scorsese
"Martin was kind when he said it's not cinema. He didn't say it's despicable, which I just say it is." – Francis Ford Coppola
Parts of it are true, on the basis where the entire plot lines are predictable and it’s not the kind of cinema I learned to love as well. Marvel movies usually follow the same backbone. This is a huge reason why some cinephiles don’t like them, because the mystery is gone and it’s all obvious. After watching all of them in a 3-week streak, I could pretty much sum up the Marvel movie plot line into this:
The protagonist is in a helpless or vulnerable position.
The protagonist meets someone who can help them.
The protagonist works hard to get to his pre-final form and along with it, learns to fight in the name of eradicating the bad guys.
The protagonist finds out that her/his master is not all-good.
Chaos but then they forgive and understand the master.
2-3 battle fights, the last one is usually the peak battle where we see the protagonist in final form.
I like movies that tackle more about realism. I like seeing actors play roles that depict humanity as humans. I’m not a huge fan of special effects or super powers either. When Scorsese said that they are “not cinema”, I understood it because there are no intricacies or space for a different form of expression when you’re doing mega franchise films that are meant to sell to the general public. Which brings me to another point, that MCU is largely a business profit. These movies are made by mega corporations in the film industry, and it might also hinder other smaller filmmakers from showing their films if a titanic franchise is showing on the same week as theirs. Comic book fans are enormous in numbers which is why there is such a huge following for these movies even if they use the same plot lines all throughout. Humans are slaves for nostalgia, and people like to see the characters they have read and admired during their childhood come to life. Because of that, these corporations will try to capitalize on that and make more movies for as long as they can, and in a sense, you can see that they might be doing it only for the sake of money and not of art any longer. This is what the disparagers would say; that there is very little artistic values to these films because they are made to be sold, not appreciated for its artistry.
“Many of our grandfathers thought all gangster movies were the same, often calling them “despicable”. Some of our great grandfathers thought the same of westerns, and believed the films of John Ford, Sam Peckinpah, and Sergio Leone were all exactly the same. I remember a great uncle to whom I was raving about Star Wars. He responded by saying, “I saw that when it was called 2001, and, boy, was it boring!” Superheroes are simply today’s gangsters/cowboys/outer space adventurers. Some superhero films are awful, some are beautiful. Like westerns and gangster movies (and before that, just MOVIES), not everyone will be able to appreciate them, even some geniuses. And that’s okay.” – James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Director
Here’s my two cents on this whole hullabaloo. Art is expressed in different ways. Just because something is popular does not mean that you should hate it or feel as if it lacks creative value. For one, I think that if the Norsemen would see the Thor films, their jaws would drop. Art in these movies is seen through the elaborate special effects and costumes. A lot of people work behind the scenes to make this kind of art form. They are not any less of an artist. The effects are wonderful, amazing and beautiful. Sure, they don’t have meandering plot lines or mysteries that are meant to make you think. But they are able to show art in a way that is along with the times, showing the capabilities of what computer generated imagery could be. It gives us the fantasy that otherwise would not be achievable in real life (for all I care, my favorite scenes are seeing Spiderman glide across the buildings of New York).
These movies are intended for children and teenagers (adults are there for the sake of nostalgia or lighthearted entertainment, I guess?). For kids, it inspires them that they can be anything they want to be. For teenagers, it might be a good footing for their moral compasses. For me, it just inspired me to get fit (hehe). My point is, these movies are made to cater to a particular type of audience, and the others are there just for the spectacle. If all the movies were Scorsese or Coppola, what would the kids watch in the theaters? Kids would not understand “Taxi Driver” nor would be a good foundation for their morals. It was a classic and it deserves the reputation it has, but after only a certain age will you be able to appreciate it, and only if you had a particular knack for appreciating films. MCU movies are made for people who just want to have a good time; you don’t have to like high-brow or art-house movies to understand it, and that’s all there is to it. It’s made for entertainment, what’s so wrong with that?
And the actors – a lot of them played the characters so well which made me realize that taking on a superhero role does not lessen your credibility as an actor. My particular favorites are Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. (bonus points for Anthony Hopkins, his range, man, his range). They were able to bring their roles to life in such a distinct way that it would be hard to never associate them as superheroes, which of course, is a double-edged sword. As a starting actor, that could be a bubble that is hard to get out of. For example, Tom Holland as Spiderman; people will always associate him as that, and how many of you has actually seen the movies he has done aside from MCU? It might be hard for him to bridge his career from being a huge franchise film protagonist into doing films to his own preference. MCU movies make the popularity and the money; indie films – not as much.
I don’t think that the existence of MCU is throwing away the spotlight from smaller filmmakers. Because back then, I simply chose not to see MCU movies because I was not interested. People will find ways to support art that they like, and just because MCU existed, it did not hinder me from looking for movies that I like. The cinema is made by individuals who like to create movies. There are different ways to express them. There are different subscribers to different genres. To each their own. But then again, I am not working in the film industry, so I can’t speak for them, I can only say what it’s like for a movie buff like me.
These are the movies that make up people’s childhood. These are characters that gives reason for people to bond together. When Tony died, the entire world felt like they lost a father. If it’s able to touch lives as much as any other film, why should we discriminate against it? Love is love, after all.

“Strange, you seem to have mistaken me for Scotland Yard…or the NOOSE.”
The doctor whirls the top of his cane, DETERMINED gaze fixated on the adversary before him. All too well, he knows the chasm of knowledge separating him from the other, a gross disadvantage on the mental plane evident in the battle waged between Holmes and Moriarty. Any that could so challenge the brilliant mind of the consulting detective was a force to be reckoned with, notwithstanding the nefarious web of rogues with which the man surrounded himself. No, his is not the place to BEST the professor in a mental or even a physical foray, but a DIVERSION to bide time for another is his to claim, to PRAY for success.
“Oh, but I have, Professor Moriarty, hence my inaction. Surely you do not think I would willingly walk into your PARLOR entirely blind? Measures have been taken to dissuade any attempts upon them, I assure you, although your endeavors toward harming them seem…MISPLACED. Haha whoops, I forgot to say that if you want sources for any of the stuff I mentioned I can track them down for you - the comments were just way too long already. (Thanks again for the thoughtful, civil conversation. I'm trying to find a non-patronizing-sounding way to say I was nowhere near as mature and self-aware as you in high school and I can't, but I swear I don't mean it that way, I just admire that. It took me way longer and I'm not even sure I'm there yet.)
So to start with I’m glad you’ve put so much thought into this. I personally as kind of uncomfortable bringing it up, as I *know* I’m not super well-informed on Israel, but I didn’t feel I could say nothing. With that knowledge in mind, I tentatively support a two-state solution - I’m not sure whether it’s relevant if it could *realistically* happen without further bloodshed - if it TECHNICALLY could, that’s probably what matters. (I’m maybe not expressing myself well - it’s like how a lot of things in Canada/USA which are technically possible are realistically less possible because of conservative obstruction, but we still aim for them.) Or even just… LESS bloodshed then right now.
There’s a post going around that GG posted on fb that’s getting a lot of flak, but the actual post specifically condemns Hamas, not Palestine, and her statements in the post support coexistence - and, yes, young IDF soldiers, but military service is compulsory in Israel - I know I feel for any young people drafted or convinced into combat. Like - it’s still okay to have an issue with her support of the military (although, like I said, her service wasn’t a choice and she wasn’t in combat), but a lot of the problem I think is that her service in/support of the Israeli military is being scrutinized and condemned, while celebrities like, say, Adam Driver, who supports the American military HARDCORE, like, complete with fundraising and stuff, go completely unscrutinized and uncondemed despite the US military’s own horrible track record/activities.
Last thing I think - it’s been my understanding that the creation of Israel created so many problems due to mistakes/racism/anti-Semitism by Western powers, and not Israelis or Jewish people in general. I don’t know how accurate that is - but it complicates the idea of Israel as ‘colonialist.’ (Although obviously the affect on Palestine has been… unjustly detrimental, to put it obscenely mildly.) I’d feel way more comfortable letting a Jewish person speak on this.
I know you’re looking for a mod - have you considered looking for a Jewish perspective, not specifically, but maybe as a desirable thing? Erm. Sorry for length, I didn’t intend for that number of replies. Thanks again for giving this so much thought. (VERY different experience from the last time I sent a blog I like a message like that tbh.)
Hello again, thanks for all your replies! :) I will respond to all of them here, by the way, for easier reading and so there will be not too many replies in that one post alone.
I understand your point about a realistic solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict not being that relevant as of now, as that wouldn’t be very easy especially if there is still obstruction from self-interested parties, and you make a fair parallel to the situation there in Canada and the US. So yes, at the very least, less bloodshed than before would be something to aim for, which will hopefully eventually lead to the war’s end and full peace at last.
I saw a screenshot of that post - that was the very post for which people began truly disliking and condemning Gal for since it’s so explicit in its support of IDF. She brings up Hamas in that post - but Hamas can be interpreted as either a fundamentalist group of terrorists or a grassroots organization of freedom fighters, depending on your views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict/war in Gaza. To be honest, I don’t know what my stance on Hamas is yet, as I’ve read contradicting information about the group and I don’t know what to believe as of now. But there is apparently one falsehood that Gal perpetuates about Hamas in that post, whether or not you believe them to be terrorists or noble freedom fighters - she says that Hamas is using Palestinian women and children as human shields, something which has apparently already been disproven by a number of major news organizations (see here and here for more information).
Here’s an important quote from the 2nd article I linked that I find relevant:
“Speaking up for the Palestinians does not mean you are supporting Hamas or even are anti-Israel. It is just impossible to ignore the facts. In this so-called “war” there are way more people dying on one side than the other. And most of the people dying are civilians. Not only that, but hospitals and schools are in the cross-hairs, too. Yes, any nation reserves the right to defend itself. But is this really self defense or a variation of Florida’s barbarian “Stand Your Ground” laws played out on a global scale?
The other thing that bothers me about Gadot’s stance on the conflict is one of the hashtags she uses: #weareright. That hashtag is buttressed by other, more palatable ones like #freegazafromhamas and #coexistance (sp), but it still oozes with the kind of nationalism that leads to the kind of escalation that will ultimately make everything worse for both sides.
Here’s the thing. When you have hundreds of people — most of whom are women and children — dead and hospitals and schools destroyed, no one is right. War is terrible and awful. Not a spectator sport. Supporting one’s country does not mean you have to also support what that country is doing, especially when so much death and destruction is the direct result of those actions.
The fact that Gadot will be the real life embodiment of Wonder Woman for generations to come is what makes this all so ironic. Maybe not as ironic as casting, say, Ted Nugent as Batman, but still. Wonder Woman is supposed to be an ambassador of peace. Of course, she’s also an Amazon warrior who isn’t afraid to take up the sword against evil, but Diana of Themyscira only goes to war for those who cannot fight for themselves.
Is it possible that, were Wonder Woman real, her view of the conflict in Gaza would be filled with more compassion for the oppressed? Isn’t that the kind of justice that a character like Wonder Woman is supposed to inspire?”
As the quote points out, even though she says she supports coexistence in her hashtags, she uses the hashtags #weareright and #loveidf at the same time. I am aware of her history as a soldier serving in the IDF and I’m also aware that in Israel, serving in their military is compulsory, so I do not really condemn her for that. But the fact is that she remains an active supporter of IDF when she doesn’t have to be, because as far as I know, it isn’t compulsory for Israeli citizens to actively show their support and love for the IDF like through social media (unless it is, so please correct me if I’m wrong there - because I don’t know enough about Israeli laws and policies on that front). After her service in the military, she could have just remained quiet and not necessarily have been so public about her support of the IDF (but then that might have been a whole other can of worms as she would be condemned for her silence on the issue, for it could be viewed as being still complicit in the oppression due to her not speaking out on it).
I didn’t know about Adam Driver (who, like Gal, also served in his country’s military, although this time it wasn’t compulsory and thus it is less understandable and he actually served in combat too from what I’ve researched now), and in that area, I think you’re right. That is a troubling phenomenon, and thank you for pointing that out. I first knew of him through “Star Wars”, but I didn’t care much about him (and still don’t) because I like the lead actors - Daisy, John, and Oscar (whose character is not really a main protagonist as of now but Poe is more important to me than Kylo Ren anyway) - much better, and he really didn’t stand out as anything special to me although I suppose he was a good actor too. That’s the thing with US-centrism (and West-centrism in general) - these Americans think their country is too good and progressive to be oppressive to other nations and countries. And in this situation, I do think that it’s more likely than not a case of implicit anti-Semitism (and perhaps even a little sexism) and so-called liberals feeling high and mighty about themselves because they condemn one form of oppression perpetuated by a non-Western country while ignoring the oppression perpetuated by their own country.
I will tread more carefully now where Adam Driver is concerned, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I will boycott “The Last Jedi” and Episode IX. I have never had plans to watch any of his other movies and TV shows (and this just solidifies my stance to not watch them at all), especially ones in which he is the main character, and while he has a significant role in the sequel trilogy, the movies have been more focused on at least Daisy and John (and now Oscar and Kelly) and that is what I’m focusing on too. But I understand that would be a problematic stance to take, as it reminds me of the time people urged others not to boycott “Suicide Squad” so as to show support for the relatively unknown actors of color there for whom these people were afraid that their careers would end and be wasted if SS was a financial flop and the time people also urged others not to boycott “The Get Down” so as to also show support for the relatively unknown actors of color (mainly black, Latinx, and Afro-Latinx) who still deserved it despite people’s legitimate concerns about Jared Leto’s creepy behavior and the allegations of sexual harassment/assault against him and the issue of Herizen Guardiola being a child predator. Rest assured, I will think on that and reevaluate my stances, and I totally understand people who will not watch or who will boycott “Star Wars” due to Adam Driver’s presence and I will not condemn them for that.
For your last point, while that may have been the case at the beginning and that may be somewhat understandable (and I’m not fully convinced), that doesn’t account for all the atrocities that Israel has committed against Palestinians, especially at present. I doubt all of the cruelties they inflicted were a result of mistakes or US anti-Semitism - it’s far too many to all have been the product of mistakes, and they are still doing it now so yeah :/ However, I do understand that Israel owes a lot to US support and the US should be called out as vocally for its continued support for Israel, but there’s a line from this article which I linked to before in my previous response that I think we should consider: “Israel is an extension of US imperialism, doing its dirty work of intimidating regional enemies with periodic military aggression and a rogue nuclear arsenal. The US has no special interest in oppressing the Palestinians, but they are powerless enough to be expendable in the Great Power game.”
It may not be the best parallel to make, but this kind of reminds me (not specifically referring to you or anyone else, sorry if it comes off that way) of our current situation in the Philippines - how our president, Rodrigo Duterte, tries to deflect US criticism of his bloody war on drugs and the thousands of extrajudicial killings and murders that have happened in the course of this war by retorting with call-outs of US imperialism and colonialism in the Philippines in the past (although US imperialism still definitely affects our country at present, but Duterte usually cites things like atrocities committed by the Americans during the Philippine-American War and the American colonial period). Duterte’s call-outs are valid in that the US is still messing us up well into the present and they’ve never really apologized, and the US needs to acknowledge that too, but two wrongs do not make a right. Besides, there are plenty of Filipinos who criticize Duterte and his policies too, so that doesn’t mean all criticism of him is automatically invalid (which it’s still not, even from the US or Americans) because most of it (actually, from what I have seen, Filipinos are the most vocal) comes from the US. (And yes, for those who are curious, I am mainly anti-Duterte [but that doesn’t mean I oppose all his policies, for some do make sense, but in general, he has a terrible track record especially when it comes to actually serving his people as it seems he’s actually killing off a lot of them and violating their human rights as well] - though that doesn’t make me a yellowt*rd or a supporter of the Liberal Party/P-Noy/the Aquinos and the Cojuangcos as many Duterte fans are so fond of making false dichotomies - so if there are Filipino followers out there whom we call DDS (die-hard Duterte supporters), you can unfollow me.)
But it is in no way the fault of Jewish people in general at all - only the fault of the Israeli government, the IDF, and the people who actively continue to support them. Not all Jewish people are Israeli and there are in fact plenty of Jewish people who are anti-Israel (I’ve found more websites now like the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network and Jewish Voice for Peace), so if anyone is blaming them for what is happening in Israel and Palestine right now, they can sit their anti-Semitic asses down and shut up.
I think we could also consider that Zionism may be to Jewish people as the Q word is to LGBT+ people and the N word is to black people - it may be an inherently flawed ideology that is only theirs to reclaim and call out if necessary, so as I said before, this means we should be more careful when it comes to using the different terms involved in this issue.
Finally, for the mod/admin thing, I am considering it - that’s actually a good idea. Preferably Jewish people of color would be good, but if there are white Jewish people who wish to join and contribute to this blog, I will consider them. I will be editing my PSAs about admin applications soon in that case, but that isn’t final yet.
Also, I understand that there are people who do tend to respond to criticism like that aggressively, and while there are some situations - depending on the issues being criticized - where that’s an okay way to go, it doesn’t always help.
And yes, sources would be good too, so thank you in advance :) Thank you for that too - I’m rather flattered. I do think I could be even more mature as I don’t consider myself that mature yet, like if you knew me personally, but thank you anyway :) I hope I was able to make more clarifications too, and that we understand each other.

...And that's that, save for final editing tweaks here and there.
Over 240,000 words, 36 chapters, 26 months start to finish.
I did it.
Wow.
I'm feeling kinda giddy. Or maybe I just need lunch.
(What follows is essentially the Author's Afterward in the next chapter from the posted story, but the sentiment still applies here.)
To the readers who have made it this far you have my most sincere thanks for indulging me in this OC-inclusive, canon-divergent, three-way crossover AU. This has truly been a labor of love, for the fantastic shows and their inspiring settings and characters that have been a part of my life for so long, as well as the entire sci-fi genre, both literary and on screen. The best thing about the Stargate fandom is the extensive scope of the series, and how it can allow for so many different approaches in an entertaining mashup of ancient mythology and science fiction, served with intelligence, humor, and heart. I hope that I've been able to convey some of that in my own fashion and allowed it to lighten your own lives.
Have you ever had inspiration come to you in a dream? The idea for the whole story's been in my mind as bits and pieces for the past twenty years (!!) and I'm glad I finally had the time, drive and wherewithal to start translating the images in my mind into words. And that I felt free enough to go as big and epic as it played out in my imagination. I'm also glad it's taken me this long to do so, since I'm not sure I would've been able to write the same story without the maturity and added experience that comes from just plain living.
To be honest I never expected my modest AU would turn out to be so big a project. The story's been my lifeline to sanity in these very trying times for our world, as I suspect writing and reading fanfic has been for you, dear readers. Long live fan fiction and all who enjoy it!
This is the end of this story, but not of the AU. There's plenty of room for more adventures, multichapters, one-shots and vignettes alike. And not only by myself.
I'm opening it up to anyone who wishes to play in my sandbox if inspired. Additions, remixes or creations of any kind are welcome, so long as due credit is given. Have fun, give a nod in my direction (or an "Inspired by" link on AO3), and please let me know in the comments there what you've done. Any point in the timeline listed is fair game so feel free to expand upon anything- John and Rodney's relationship in Alpha Base and Atlantis, Sam and Jack's or Mac and Janet's- even future fics are welcome featuring the next generation(s). In fact, any of my original characters listed in Ch. 2 of Timeline and Who's Who in Ad Astra and original concepts in A Linguist's Guide to New Earth can be used, with credit of course. Or add your own, the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned!
If there's interest I'll create a collection on AO3 called Stargate: The New Earth Chronicles and open it to any rating or pairing- or crossover, if you think it can fit. All I ask is to keep it in the same optimistic spirit of soft apocalypse with a glimmer of hope, because now more than ever we need those happy endings.
Okay, time for me to give credit where it's rightfully due.
None of this would've come to pass in the first place if not for a certain actor and the two leading roles he portrayed so brilliantly. So thanks first and foremost to Richard Dean Anderson for introducing me to the original Angus MacGyver and later on Jack (Two L's) O'Neill, sides of the same coin as far as I'm concerned. The inspiration for my OC Rebecca Grahme came out of a desire to give both of them more family, and a concrete reason for doing what they do.
Thanks also to Michael Shanks for his version of Daniel Jackson, the first character on TV I could truly relate to, and proof that even glasses-wearing geeks (like myself) can be heroes. Indeed (to quote Teal'c) my admiration for everyone in both series- cast and crew alike- knows no bounds, for bringing to life a truly epic universe and giving it heart and wit, adventure and excitement. They are the reason why I'm still a fan after all these years.
I carry a warm fondness in my heart for the original MacGyver and the invaluable lessons he taught me about applied nonviolence, seeking creative solutions to problems and the willingness to do the right thing and stand up for others in the face of overwhelming odds. Those are values I still admire and try to emulate even today.
Many thanks goes to Sourlander and her excellent Loyalties series, for letting me incorporate Dr. Alex Lorne and her children Nora, Grace and Caleb into my 'verse. More adventures with Evan and Alex and family are welcome from you anytime.
As stated earlier this epic story is a love letter to the sci-fi genre I've been reading all my life, which taught me to think big when it comes to worldbuilding. Story inspiration comes from far and wide, particularly tales of space colonies both failed and successful, accidental and planned: Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover Landfall, Anne McCaffrey's Dragonsdawn, Jack L. Chalker's The Birth of Flux & Anchor, and the anthology Star Colonies (Martin H. Greenburg and John Heffers, eds.). Ursula LeGuin's Ekumen in her Hainish Cycle series is the model for the Stargate Commonwealth. Other elements come from the Cyteen trilogy by C.J. Cherryh (council government) and the alternate history anthologies What Might Have Been Vol. I & II, edited by Gregory Benford and Martin H. Greenburg (Ascended Daniel and Oma Desala's discussion).
Inspiration for elements of Atlantis Colony in particular comes from some incredible SGA fanworks on AO3: Speranza's Written by the Victors, LtLJ's Retrograde and Retrograde Extras series, ArwenLune's Rock Happy 'verse and Atlantis Program for Essential Skills Training, Three Fates by auburn and eretria, Wild Card by GillianInOz, Domenika Marzione (domarzione)'s version of Atlantis with its extensive cast of OCs, and The Body Holographic by Leah (Taste_is_Sweet) and springwoof. All are absolutely fabulous and mind-blowing, I cannot recommend them enough.
Once again my profound thanks to you, dear readers, for taking a chance on this modest AU. I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I did writing it. Feedback is greatly appreciated, and will always be. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Peace to you all. May we treat each other kindly and with respect, and strive together to create a better future for everyone's sake.
Take care,
Tanista
