If you wanna play some angst with a modern twist I'd recommend something alike "Recovery of an MMO Junkie": a wholesome anime in which the main character (a woman in her 30s in the original anime) decides to leave their job and enters into videogames to spend their free time... it has themes like depression, job burtout and online friendship... The anime is very wholesome and all the main characters are people in their 30s who are barely starting to date and meet people...

Dimitri leaves his job in his 30s because he is serverly burned out and depressed and since he already has a ton of money decides to isolate himself and play videogames all day (Imagine a huge online videogame like genshin impact/FFXIV), he meets a lot of people online and he slowly starts to recover. His character is the how he'd like to present himself or more like acadimitri to other people: preppy, super polite and kind, he meets Byleth's character and they become friends online and offline (without knowing who the other is!).

Imagine Dimitri's character something like pink haired magical girl and Byleth's... pretty much Jeralt (whom Death's she's not done recovering from).

Even if don't like the prompt I'd still recomend the anime to you, it's very wholesome if you like some nice adult romance (in the sense that the protagonists are mature adults not in the R18 sense LOL).

i can totally see dimitri as moriko. a depressed modern dima is 100% going to indulge in videogames as an escapism copying method ( :c ).

i could make byleth work in sakurai's role, maybe erasing some of his original shyness (dimitri would work as him too!! but i prefer your original idea <3) and with more straightforwardness, but still! byleth would be super supportive of her online friend, no matter the game they play in 🥺

(also, im sorry but moriko and sakurai are LITERAL SOULMATES??? them being best online buddies in not one but TWO videogames? they finding the other in every universe...... so dimileth coded u.U anon you should know i spent all the anime screaming in delightful :'] )

also, evil of me, but what about sylvain as koiwai? i usually love when sylvain is watching dimileth pining for each other and decides to step in to help them- and it's exactly what koiwai does :'] to make this idea work similar to the in-anime story, maybe i could go like this:

sylvain is dimitri's childhood friend but in adulthood they didn't stay in touch much; meanwhile sylvain and byleth became work collegues. (of course sylvain tried to flirt wit byleth at first, but she quickly made clear she was NOT interested, and eventually they became friends.) after *insert shenanigans that makes byleth and dimitri meet irl*, sylvain meets dimitri again and convince him to go out a bit; this way sylvain notices dimitri is starting to have a crush over byleth so he starts doing his evil dimileth plans (are his eyes deceiving sylvain, or byleth has just smiled for the first time since he met her while talking to dimitri?). "unplanned" dimileth date, leaving them alone together, making dimitri jealous, forcing them to play together so they can discover their online identities? all sylvain's superb mastermind!

(also sorry but kanbe gave me felix vibes lol)

also, i LOVED that moriko and sakurai's characters were switched gender, so i'm totally with you about giving dimitri a madoka-style avatar and byleth a jeralt-like one :'] if i must be honest, the whole "oh nooo irl people cant know i play as a man in game" from moriko ended up tiring me a bit (not that it isnt well done, but it got too long as a "plot issues" imo while it wasnt an issues for anyone xD), but i totally can see dimitri worrying about this same thing, my boy's fav hobby is worrying about meaningless thing; just for byleth to end his gendercrysis issues in a sec (also yes- why not having nonbinary dimitri in the end? 👉👈)

moriko's eternal hunger works best for byleth of course; but it won't stop me from making "dimitri-wants-cheese" jokes uwu

i'm not sure when (or IF c.c) i'll find the time to write a fic with this plot, but anon know you always give me great dimileth ideas and i'm GRATEFUL for that, ily <3

Yesterday’s mission was super hard, it left everyone exhausted. All you wanted to do was sleep, but the work of a professor is never finished. Speaking to your students, other professors, and even Rhea and Seteth take up a lot of time aside from teaching. Doing paperwork usually keeps you up late most nights, but you always try to take the time to rest after missions.

You weren’t always the only one that got caught up with paperwork. Late nights walking around the monastery, you always end up finding Dimitri with his lights on, doing paperwork of his own or studying to perfect his techniques. He always says it’s because he wants to do better, be better. You didn’t understand the full grasp of that until he told you how him and Felix fell out.

Sundays were nice rest days after missions, but today couldn’t be avoided. You had work to do around the monastery. Seteth asked you to ask around for information about someone he deemed suspicious, and that meant speaking to more people than you really wanted to.

Walking past the training grounds, you heard someone practicing in there. Walking in to try and find out information from whoever it was, you were surprised to see the man who’d taken your heart without knowing it. You knew he probably didn’t know anything, but what’s troubling is you can’t recall him sleeping last night. In fact, it doesn’t seem like he’s slept much recently at all.

He didn’t even hear the doors of the training grounds open, too busy focused on practicing his technique. “Dimitri.” You called out to him, only to get no response. You carefully walked up behind him, quickly ducking when his lance swung around him before he even knew you were there.

“Oh! (Y/n), what are you doing in here? I could have hurt you just now. Are you alright?” His confusion turned to concern when he made the realization that you almost got impaled by his lance.

“I’m perfectly fine. What I came to ask you, was have you slept?” You asked accusingly, knowing full well that he’d not rested since the mission.

“I’m fine.” He states. “You haven’t rested either, from what I can recall.” He turns around and goes back to training, to which you frown.

“Dima.” You’re firm this time. You place your hand on his shoulder, almost begging him to rest. “Please, please rest. You need to.”

“Only if you will.” He stops in his tracks, turning back to you. You were the only ones on the training grounds, so you went to the wall and sat in the shade, patting the spot next to you, not letting up.

Your plan of action would be to make him sit down, and hopefully take a nap. Once he fell asleep, you could get back to work. But once you sat down, your exhaustion seemed to hit you all at once.

As your prince sits beside you, you leaned your head on his shoulder. He smiled down at you, placing a soft kiss onto your forehead, before resting his on top of yours. Quite too soon after you leaned on each other, the feeling of sleep quickly overcame you both without realizing it.

Almost too soon, a few hours later, Sylvain and Felix opened the doors to the training grounds with the intention of training together, only to find the two of you sleeping together. “Should we wake them up? Dinner is in a few hours, they must have missed lunch time.” Felix asks, but Sylvain is already on the move.

“Wakey wakey love birds!” He yells a little too loud, and you groan out of sleep. The movement of your head woke Dimitri as well, and when you found the two of them standing in front of you, you turned your face into Dimitri’s shoulder with a blush.

“What time is it?” Dimitri groans, and Felix makes a sound of disapproval at him.

“Almost evening,” Sylvain smirks at you, and you can’t help but groan again in embarrassment. But you at least got Dimitri to sleep, even if it meant jeopardizing your duties as a professor. You grabbed his hand, standing up with him. He smiles at you, but doesn’t let go as you leave.

“What was that?” Felix is puzzled after you both leave.

“Two busy lovers taking a nap together.” He smiles. “Let’s get training.”

Alenichev has similar eyes, sometimes in specific lighting. 

Yeah, Andrey gave a controversial answer to what he would rather kiss: a man or the CSKA logo. But I’m not sure he was truly honest in his words. And the fact he spent two years with unsatisfied men, guarding other angry men somewhere in Taiga, doesn’t make him any more heterosexual to me. Btw, he said he was glad he didn’t have to shoot the prisoners during their escape attempt. So I think Alenichev was a little bit more crazy in their party. 🤭

Andrey seems to have a big grudge against Spartak and Romantsev personally. Oleg Ivanovich fell into disgrace due to their own drama. It's a miracle he stays in touch with Alenichev, being confident Dima gained more love from the head coach(es). 

Spartak was criticized by Tikhonov because of the way they behaved with Alenichev. He thinks they “robbed” Dima Anatolyevich. 

He even claims Dima Anatolyevich didn't suck as a coach 🥺

I've already written a post with a poor translation of Alenichev's statements about Tikhonov and my cringe remarks about them.

“And you correctly noted that when I left, Andrei Tikhonov probably felt sad, so he had a desire to immediately replace me with someone,” Alenichev says in the video. I don't know if this was his misinterpretation or his actual conversation with Tikhonov from that time. Spicy.

Tikhonov wants his sons to become really good footballers, Alenichev wants the same for his son. Andrey doesn't let his boys go away from him, Dima pushes his son into the Primeira Liga. It's unlikely both of them will succeed. Fortunately, Yegor Titov has no sons. Yet.

Tikhonov doesn't always call Alenichev the best player he played with, as modern footballers usually do to their lovers. But his second friend is Yegor Titov, whom he calls very talented pretty often. Furthermore, there's an opinion Alenichev wasn't talented, unlike Arshavin, he was just hardworking, like Daler Kuzyaev. Maybe later they will say Daler was also talented, because he was from Zenit.

I actually do intend to do SPELL again, but haven't been in a rush because I was never clear if anything was interested. I also am not able to read as widely because my time is much more limited now than it was. but I'm hopeful that we'll get back to it soon because I LOVE to discuss books
