⌖ I WILL say that I appreciate how much of the newer terminology originates as SELF-DESCRIPTION and SELF-DETERMINATION. This has not ALWAYS been the case, HISTORICALLY SPEAKING!
#⌖ online#// she doesn't feel the need to elaborate but she means like. terms like 'homosexual' were diagnoses. it was considered a sociopathic#personality disorder in the first DSM.#A lot of OLD terminology originates from medicine/psychology/that research and isn't like terminology ppl used to selfdetermine.#(And some of it just doesn't even make sense like the way Blanchard splits trans women into 2 categories. she fits neither.)#So historically. Identifying with stuff would have meant identifying with how medical institutions would have pathologized her.#She thinks it's swag that ppl today are coming up with terms to self-describe and find community. That's a net positive.#She just personally has seen terminology change so much over time both in usage and application so it feels like an unstable thing to tether#her identity to if that makes sense?
