Dystopic(-ish) Film RECommendations
Okay, it was never just a phase. Here it comes, a list of films I've watched that fit the mood, the vibes, and just the concept of a dystopic world. How much each stood out for me and due to what varies. And please, ADHD, don't make me rewatch them all upon bringing them up! It's tempting but I got work to do. So let's just say I don't remember EVERYTHING that is on them but I'll add a bit of what I do in case it'll lead you to something of your interest to watch whenever.
The Hunger Games Series
Need I say anything about this one at this point? It's just some girl from a poor district who's somehow leading the revolution and given VIP treatment because of it while also being treated like some sort national threat. So unrealistic, right?
The Maze Runner Series
Boy ends up in a weird place, not knowing much about anything, isn't satisfied with shallow answers and taking things at face value. Prefers to go through a deadly maze before having to settle for a stagnant routine and the BS they were being fed. Also somehow considered the cure/antidote to a virus and people try to sacrifice him. But he's "selfish" and doesn't wanna be sacrificed. LOL.
The Divergent Series
Another random poor girl who somehow defies and challenges what's established and that makes her very special (ROFL, THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS). But anyhow, this has factions like Harry Potter Houses and that's fun if you're into personality sorting systems, flawed and limited as they may be. Also, there's some emphasis on the ability to face fears and use them as fuel.
Alita: Battle Angel
Guy who rollerblades and is kinda rogue gets a super cool girlfriend who fights WAAAAAAAAAAY better than him and it's awesome. But spoiler: They don't make it together in the end. And that's very sad. BUT PFFT, getting m**e-centered here, THIS MOVIE ISN'T ABOUT HIM.
Cloud Atlas
This is a compilation of different stories, but it is more about the passing of time and how everything is interwoven. How meaning is found and formed.
Gattaca
Oldie but a lifetime favorite. About unstoppable ambition, determination, and perseverance against all bets and odds.
Dark City
Another oldie but a lifetime favorite! This is like... if gaslighting was a movie, this one's it.
#// i see more stored in my site that are kind of 'dystopic' but not really#// there's one that's more like a criticism on social media that came out in 2017 but guess what NOW'S WORSE#// and you know... series like Black Mirror and The Walking Dead are also there though i didn't finish watching them#Own Posts#Keepsakes#Stories#The Hunger Games#The Maze Runner#Divergent#Alita: Battle Angel#Cloud Atlas#Gattaca#Dark City
