me: i'm not gonna entertain discourse

also me: while i think people are well within their right to view ugetsu's behaviors as toxic at best and abusive at worst, i don't believe that's the takeaway the author wants you to have. haruki and akihiko also have a tumultuous start to their relationship, but that's not how akihiko is meant to be defined by the narrative.

if your interpretation isn't so generous, then that's perfectly fine. i can agree to disagree on that front.

i think what's more important is akihiko still bearing goodwill towards ugetsu in spite of everything. the fact he congratulates ugetsu on his success instead of holding onto his feelings of inferiority shows that they've both grown.
