okay but like eddie didn’t pull off hush because he felt as though he wasn’t “taken seriously” as a Villain or that the others didn’t like him or treated him as a joke. eddie did hush because he didn’t want to fall out of relevancy. as he stated in the comic, “i used to be a somebody in this town, now everybody has a gimmick.” this is also coupled with bruce stating earlier that he thought eddie would’ve “retired by now.” also, eddie had been suffering with terminal cancer. with this in mind, it probably made him even more scared of being forgotten. as many people fear when they’re dealing with the fact they’re dying. 

hell, eddie wasn’t scared of the other rogues - the only one he seemed scared of was rai’s. when referring to the other rogues, he talked in bored tones... he talked as though they’re below him. you know... instead of doing a Voice Crack or yelling, eddie... fucking yawns when referring to them.

this is what made eddie so fucking cool without being a Brute who can... fight suddenly? It’s that he’s a genius, and can manipulate others to doing things for him without even lifting a finger. eddie isn’t dangerous because he can fight, he’s dangerous because of his brain. this is why he doesn’t need to fight, and why there doesn’t have to be some Grand Last Fight with bruce and eddie. not to mention... people talked about how bruce “mentally destroys” eddie in the end of the hush adaptation, and that’s “good” because it shows how smart bruce is. but... yeah, it just shows bruce as Better and Cooler than eddie. when the comics had them going back and forth, getting underneath each other’s skin. it showed what a fucking perfect antagonist eddie is. unlike the movie where he cries when bruce gets underneath his skin, he had a comeback. seriously...

first eddie gets underneath bruce’s skin by revealing he knows his identity.

then it’s bruce’s turn when he mentions the riddle being useless, as well as rai’s being uber pissed about the pit.

then eddie actually gets the final word by bringing up the death of jason.

which causes bruce to punch eddie - which is also funny, if you think about it. because eddie often criticizes bruce for having a temper, and always resorting to his fists instead of his brains. of course, eddie deserves it. but i just thought that was an interesting note.

anyway, why i explained this entire scene is, again, just trying to show how it actually is a much cooler confrontation than the movie had. eddie, despite not being a brute here, seemed WAY COOLER. he wasn’t choking up about being “c-lister” or not being seen as serious. he was calm, he didn’t cower to the others, he was a true mastermind, and he DID get under bruce’s skin. that’s what makes eddie so cool, he doesn’t need to fight in order to be dangerous, or a threat to bruce.
