@rubbcr-hose-toons asked: Is your muse afraid of death?
Not necessarily, no. Should she be, she would’ve never taken the job she has in the first place as the risk of doing so would put her in a position in which she’d be an open target for those who wish to end her life on their hands; which she does and has been.
Of course, Alca’s within the majority of people who don’t wish to die early if satisfied with life currently, but it’s not like she constantly dreads the day of her death. She’s aware that escaping death is logically impossible to escape forever and it’s something that one must accept. However, she’d much prefer to die of old age or even natural causes after retirement from the mob. The possibility of death coming to her earlier because of anything mob related doesn’t scare her per say, but it’s unsettling to her. She has her bodyguards for a reason, after all. Having every aspect of your life taken away from you by a single bullet without getting the chance to take in what’s going on is sure tragic.
Now with Toon verse Alca, it’s a little different as well as complicated. She knows the risks and consequences of her and the syndicate crossing over to function like humans rather than toons. One of them, the obvious, is that they can actually die with no way of returning. Outsiders knowing this may see their choice in doing so as foolish, but pure stubbornness in being like what they thought their creator was has long taken over in their minds.
Regardless of the lack of regret in doing so, Alca and them are actually terrified at the thought of either of them finding one of the lifeless bodies of their comrades and not being able to do anything about it. Considering that the very first thing they were exposed to when brought out of paper was death is definitely the main reason. Alca has been able to hide her thoughts on the matter well over the years and it isn’t something discussed often between the group as means to avoid triggering any emotions they don’t wish to deal with. Yet, the fact that they still go out of their way to cause trouble for their own benefit shows that they’ve learned to hide and bottle up those fears really well.
