maybe it's just the corner of the internet im in but i feel like there's been a lot of fearmongering about libraries and book banning/librarians imposing their own morality on patrons and i do just wanna say that like if you ever hear someone on social media who claims to be a librarian but is also trying to tell you what you should or shouldn't read, that person very well might be lying to try and lend some perceived authority to their argument....
here's a link to the ALA freedom to read statement and your local library likely also has a similar policy or statement on their own website, i encourage everyone to look it up or ask a staff member if ur curious. obviously different libraries operate differently, but generally speaking it is never a librarian's job to tell you what you should or should not be reading. it might be their job to help you find something that fits your needs and desires as a reader, but they shouldn't be discouraging people from reading whatever they want (yes, including fringe ideologies or controversial ideas they may not agree with or other "bad" books). if someone on twitter says something like "i'm a librarian and here's why booktok sucks and you shouldn't read those books" then that person is likely either not actually a librarian or else they're a very, very bad one
