Zoey's face flushed with embarrassment, her brown curls dancing wildly around her shoulders as she shook her head, trying to collect herself. Honestly, she should have seen it coming. Based on how the beginning of her day had gone, Zoey really should have seen the entire cup of hot coffee being knocked into its owner as she tried to leave the cafe in a hurry. Of course, everything would go wrong today. "Are you sure?" she asked, knowing that she should have been more careful. Zoey had been clumsy as a child and the lanky limbs had never really gone away as she grew up; she should have known by now. Watching as the other attempted to dry herself off, Zoey sighed. "I really didn't mean to inconvenience you today. I swear if you need to, I'll pay for your dry cleaning." she forced lightness into her tone even as her heart began to thud and the smile on her face plastered itself there.

Zoey hesitated a moment, indecision written all over her features as she stood with the other a moment longer, fiddling with the hem of her coat. Relief flooded her body as she heard the other's words, feeling ten times lighter. "Oh, I hate when people do that. At least say you're sorry and own up to it, you know?" she shook her head at the thought, knowing that accidents did happen, but so could apologies. "No, I can get you another coffee! Really." It wasn't like it was a life or death situation if Zoey left the cafe now, knowing that everything was out of her hands. Between her supplier not having her fragrance oils that she needed and causing a good coffee to go to waste, she thought it was the least she could do. "How about we wait in line together? I can order something else off the menu since my coffee is practically cold. And I can get you another coffee."

Obsessed with characters who portray themselves as worse than they are. Who are lying to everyone including themselves about it. People generally assume if someone's lying about themselves they're trying to look better but sometimes they're trying to look worse. They attribute agency to where they had none, add intent to accidents, try to convince everyone that this is something they did instead of something that happened to them.
