Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.

Was on an art kick today, and apparently felt like drawing stuff from my fic?

So, here's some pics of Odile in her very early twenties, along with my OC Camille, a med student that came to Ka Bue to learn surgery as that is a skill far more advanced in the country.

I also had a few thoughts about what Vaugardians might deal with living in a country where Body Craft is very much not legal, and they were also very much not gender conforming rather like Camille who's philosophy towards pronouns was, 'Oh any pronoun is fine, but I WILL be judging you based on what you pick~!'.

Pretending to be a bit stupid along with 'oh sorry, NO idea what you're asking, i suddenly don't speak enough of whatever language we were conversing in to answer that!' were the main ways Camille made it work.

Odile thought they were mortal enemies for the first few months of their acquaintance - Camille thought she was hilarious and fun to hang out with, and this is how he dragged her along to the underground organisation that taught people Body Crafting illegally. Odile's fury over "why would you trust me - you do NOT know me well enough to just let me follow you places like that?!' was not made less by Camille laughing at her for it.

Anyway yeah - glad to get a solid vibe for Camille down on paper!

siffrin said they did love to eat crabs so i'm like. envisioning something postcanon where all the vaugardians are like "in the spirit of cultural exchange because your culture was lost we'll eat one crab" and siffrin is SO excited and goes off to cook a big crab they caught off bambouche's shore beach-fire style

and the vaugardians are huddled around odile asking questions like "is this poison" "are you sure it doesn't taste bad" because they don't want to offend SIFFRIN by asking him that. and odile is like "crab is Fine there's nothing wrong with it, it's just a food" and i think bonnie would get into the cooking method a lot since it looks cool

and it all goes well, crab leg meat is fairly simple to show someone how to eat and it's a mild taste. and then siffrin's like "do you all mind if i take the body it's my favorite" and they're like "oh of course!!" and they just slurp out the head goo (tastes good, looks and sounds incredibly gross) and soup inside and everyone is just watching like 👁️👄👁️

loop design + little doodles for my fanfic! (the work in progress name for now is "A Star's Reprise") Literally they just made this disguise from the garbage, its an old bed set, some stray rags and two safety pins holding everything together. It looks good...enough, at least will keep people from staring at them too much though the party would realize how odd they look the longer they stay together. (some wouldn't stay anything to be polite and then there's the child and the old woman)

i guess i never talked properly about what Kimi to Uchuu wo Aruku Tame ni (I Want To Walk In Space With You) is actually about because i kind of was hoping other people could have the experience i had reading it ("okay this manga is really new i'll check it out -> ow ow oof ow"), but i guess if i want people to get interested i need to give them something lol. still, i think the comic speaks for itself better than i ever could, so here are some pages from the first chapter that really resonated with me
