in a world that insists that you participate in an incessant race; to rest is to revolt.
it is a radical thing to pause and replenish; to nourish your mind, soul and body, ignoring the looming clouds of shame & guilt.
for you are merely a person with seasons unfolding in your soul. with each day, you enter a new phase. and it would a dreadful act to deny yourself the pleasures of peace & solitude.
Random writing thought: the best stories are often the ones that only you could have written — but also the ones that you could only write at this one moment.
I couldn't write All the Birds in the Sky from scratch now if I tried. But the me of 2013 couldn't have written The Prodigal Mother either.
yknow AI art has ruined an entire genre of painting to me, i saw one of those smooth anime-realism pieces and immidiately thought ''ugh, AI art'' until i noticed it was posted by an established deviantart user 6 years ago. like ive never been a huge fan of that genre but it looks like a pretty difficult style to master and i feel bad for the artists who specialized in anime-realism only to have their entire market jacked by people typing keywords into midjourney.

Millennials and Gen Z? BUY SHIT! OWN THINGS! DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!
Listen to me.
You do not want this future to happen to you I promise you. Because the minute you enter into a subscription existence you allow for a possibility of losing everything. Why?
Well, because when you stop paying then you stop having.
I buy my cars outright for this reason.
I have not thrown away my DVD collection for this reason.
I still have my old-school ipod for this reason.
I buy songs I really like direct from the artist on top of my subscription for this reason.
I back shit up on to my external hard drives rather than depending on a cloud only for this reason (which reminds me that I need to do taht this weekend).
If someone ELSE is holding the physical source of what you're paying for? YOU DON'T OWN IT. You're just giving someone your energy and time for permission to access it.
You're leasing your existence.
Don't fucking fall for it, do you hear me?
It's bad enough we have to lease our water, our heat, our internet and our entertainment.
Buy what you want outright WHENEVER YOU CAN. Then do anything you can to maintain it in the face of planned obsolescence. I promise you, there will be a moment when you will be glad you did
Because aside from relationships? Things are literally all the system let us keep in this existence so don't lease your fucking possessions if at all avoidable because at this stage in capitalism we're all a few bad days from being unable to pay those leases. And then what? Then you only have what you can keep and those comforts and necessities that will keep you going, I promise you. Don't let there be anything more that can be taken from you than absolutely necessary.
Every morning, therefore, at about 9.30 after breakfast each of us, as if moved by a law of unquestioned nature, went off and ‘worked’ until lunch at one. It is surprising how much one can produce in a year, whether of buns or books or pots or pictures, if one works hard and professonially for three and a half hours every day for 330 days. That was why, despite her disabilities, Virginia was able to produce so very much.
Anyone who knows me well can attest to the fact that I've been an @steveyeun stan since 2011, from his zombie-killing days on @thewalkingdead In late 2018, I was lucky enough to catch @burningmovie (my top film from that year) and meet him at a @bafta event - not only is he a stellar actor but the chillest dude ever. And now it's 2021 and he's just gone and made Oscar history, as the first ever Asian American lead actor nominee. This was so well deserved, congratulations @steveyeun @minarimovie @a24 - please go see this masterpiece of a film everyone. For the 25th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in 1994, flag creator Gilbert Baker was commissioned to make the world’s largest flag. The flag took months of planning and work done by teams of volunteers. The flag utilized the basic six colors of the rainbow and measured thirty feet wide by a mile long.
Today’s aesthetic: keeping the same tab open in your browser for three solid weeks because you’re definitely going to get around to reading and/or acting on whatever’s in it any minute now.
