3 times in the past day and a half had someone rebloged a specifically Durge/Gale post just to comment how Durge/Astari*n is great and I'm just so fucking done with this fandom. It's shitty enough that 80%+ of content is about a character and ships I dislike, and finding content I do like (durgegale) is hard enough, but then I make a post for that rare ship and ofc it gets derailed into the one ship I can't stand and which makes no sense for redeemed Durge imo but got extra content bc Larian is so skewered to favor Astari*n it's frankly disgusting.

I was checking out the other companion's kisses thanks to the Kisses mod yesterday and since the camera was showing Lucas from the back I rotate it to get a better look and it legit felt like my own OC caught me looking where I shouldn't lmao

Default Durge (but with a tail) being very intimidating and scary, arms crossed, glaring at people enough to put them on edge, but his tail constantly lovingly wraps around Gale's leg, waist, or wrist and completely ruins his dangerous vibe

Thinking about Gortash using Sarevok's old Iron Throne fortress/tower for his own purposes as a prison

and also putting into motion a plan very similar to Sarevok's for becoming an archduke (which in this context is the same as a grand duke, I think, but I'm not knowledgeable with noble titles)

My view on Durge and Sarevok's relationship is that Sarevok actually respected and liked Durge (as much as possible for a non-reformed bhaalspawn) so it's very possible that he had at some point shared his history, old plans, and failures with Durge, at the very least as a lesson for Durge.

Also, Gortash has a line about him and Durge studying their predecessors and their mistakes,

which combined with everything so far, definitely makes me think that the Iron Throne prison and the Archduke plans were at the very least co-founded by Durge and Gortash, if not outright suggested by Durge.

Another interesting side to all this - Orin is attached to her (grand)father (again, as much as possible for a non-reformed bhaalspawn) so it probably pisses her off that Gortash managed to pull off a plan that Sarevok failed, especially bc it was with Durge's help, and it's just one more reason why she's so spiteful towards him. In her eyes Gortash uses her grandfather's plan, uses her grandfather's fortress, uses her sibling and boss in myriads of ways and in turn - the whole Bhaal cult, for his own gains.

Old Habits Die Hard (or: Durge slaps Gortash on the ass during his inauguration ceremony)

"We can be good for each other," Gortash says as he passes by you, almost close enough for your hands to brush each other. You were nearest and dearest, intimately so, you're sure of this. His behavior is an indication enough, but recognition claws at your mind as well. As much as the memories refuse to come, the feeling is there. As is the habit, apparently.

Your hand moves before you can even think about it, let alone stop it, and finds its mark on Gortash's ass with impeccable precision, the resulting slap echoing in the hall, loud and clear for every pair of noble ears to pick it up and for the rumor mill to start working at full power.

You can't see Gortash's face from where you stand but his posture is ramrod, clearly surprised. It's no wonder that he doesn't react immediately. Who would expect a slap on the ass during their inauguration ceremony? An assassination - yes, that's more likely. But this?

The Steel Watchers take the action as assault, of course. And it's only Gale's quick spell casting of a Globe of Invulnerability that saves you from dying due to an ill-timed ass-slap. A humiliating end for sure.

Gortash finally processes what has occurred and orders the Steel Watch to stand down, before turning towards you, eyes filled with both fury and desire, and oh that look is delicious on him.
