Please tell me that with 'Johnny and Kitty pocess Superman and Batman' That they are either on a date or go on a date after a fight? Please this needs to happen
@britcision also asked about this one!
So I was looking through what I wrote of this and...it's not that good. It's based on a prompt from back in Nov 2022 and I was still figuring things out back then and needed to rewrite everything I wrote at least once. It's less crack than you'd expect from the title, I'm afraid.
So I'm gonna do part of that rewrite. Because I'm insane and don't have self control. 🤣
Anyway, the prompt is from @zeestarfishalien and can be found here. Oddly it doesn't have half as many notes as I remember it having. Huh. Guess I thought it had more because I latched onto it so strongly.
Anyway, enjoy!

"Danny!" yelled Jazz from downstairs.
Danny froze for just a moment. That was Jazz's something-is-wrong voice. He dropped through the floor to get to her that much quicker. "What happened?" he demanded.
She just pointed to the TV where a news reporter was standing in a city. Behind her, Batman stood next to the open driver's side door to the batmobile while Superman floated in the air a few feet away with his arms crossed.
"Don't look at me like that, baby," said Batman.
"I will look at you however the hell I want. You forgot our date, asshole!" yelled Superman back.
The reporter grinned at the camera. "Looks like quite the lover's tiff we've stumbled upon! Who would have ever suspected Batman and Superman of being in a relationship?"
Behind her, Superman used his heat vision to shoot at Batman who cursed loudly before jumping into his car and speeding off. Superman huffed and flew in the opposite direction. Jazz muted the TV while the reporter continued making speculations about Batman and Superman's relationship. Danny stared at Jazz in horror.
"That was—"
"Yeah. Yeah, I think it was."
Danny closed his eyes and thought about the half finished essay he had upstairs and the history test he had the next day and how his parents would be home in an hour. He wanted to cry.
"I have to go to Gotham."
"I'll take care of our parents. Have you had the flu yet this year?"
Danny's laugh had a hysterical edge to it. "Tuck's been keeping track of my excuses. Ask him. I'll just…" Danny let the sentence trail as he transformed and flew out of the house without another word.
Even flying as fast as he could, he didn't arrive in Gotham until night had fallen. He tried to sense Johnny or Kitty or listen for the chaos that always followed them, but the city was so big.
After over half an hour of searching with no luck, Danny was sitting on a roof with his head buried in his knees trying not to cry. He only had so many hours before he had to be back in Amity for school. If he missed any more days, he'd get a suspension and his parents would be livid.
Just then, the clock tower chimed ten. Danny lifted his head to look at the tall building, one of the tallest in the city. He might not have any idea how to find Batman, but surely the other heroes would. Maybe he could get their attention?
In a matter of minutes, he was floating above the clock tower. With a deep breath, he shot an ectoblast up into the sky. Two minutes later, he repeated the action.
Not long after his fifth blast, two grapple hooks attached to the tower near his feet and seconds later he was facing Batman and Robin.
Danny immediately fell into a fighting stance. "Johnny, I'm not going to let you get away with this. Get out of him. Now."
But instead of calling him a do-gooder nerd, Batman pulled out a batarang and held it ready to throw. "I'm not this Johnny," he growled.
Danny relaxed and sighed in relief. "Oh thank the ancients, you got him out. I'm so, so sorry, Batman! I know you and the Justice League are relying on me to keep the ghosts from escaping Amity. Johnny and Kitty must’ve gotten past me. How'd you get Johnny out? Were you able to help Superman? Kitty is at least reasonable most of the time so I hope she didn't give you any trouble. Where are they now? I'll just collect them and bring them back to the Realms."
Robin pulled out his sword and pointed it at Danny. "What do you know of Fa— Batman's condition? Who is this 'Johnny' you speak of?"
Danny's core stuttered in his chest. The kid couldn't mean… He looked past the blade pointed at him towards Batman. "You… aren't Batman. Are you? You're covering for him while Johnny is overshadowing the real one."
Batman put a hand on Robin's shoulder. "Lower the sword, Robin." To Danny, he said, "I think you owe us some explanations."
Danny buried his head in his hands and tried to bite back the tears. He was so tired. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. This is my fault. They got past me and I failed. I'm so sorry."
“Desist with your groveling and explain!” ordered Robin.
“Right, yeah. Of course. Sorry.” Danny looked up, but the stars were hidden behind smog and lights. He sighed. “I’m Phantom, of course. Responsible for monitoring the portal in Amity and keeping ghosts from coming through and causing problems on Earth. Also for stopping human hunters from hurting any ghosts. Johnny and Kitty, two ghosts, must have gotten past me. I’m careful, I swear. We set up an alarm on the portal so I know the moment someone comes through, but I missed them somehow. I…maybe they came through at the same time as someone else? I’ve had to deal with Skulker and Boxy so far this week. And Queen Dora came for a visit and one of Pandora’s people stopped by to drop something off. So if Johnny and Kitty came through at the same time… Pariah curse it, I should’ve realized. What a stupid design flaw. I’ll be working on a fix for that as soon as I get out of school tomorrow. I’d do it sooner, but I’ve a test you see. And if I miss any more class, I’ll get a suspension, and then my parents really will kill me again.”
Danny winced when he saw Robin’s fingers twitch towards his sword again. “Sorry! No more excuses. It’ll be fixed ASAP, promise. Um, Johnny is generally into motorcycles, but I think he saw the Batmobile and wanted to take it for a ride so he overshadowed Batman. From what I saw on the news, he blew off a date with Kitty to do it so she’s pissed and followed him and ended up overshadowing Superman. Probably so she could use his powers on top of her own to punish Johnny.” He trailed off and waited for the yelling to start.
But they were silent.
Danny shifted from foot to foot. “Again, I’m really sorry. I know you rely on me to keep this from happening and I swear it won’t again. But if you tell me where you think Batman is, I’ll go retrieve Johnny. Same with Superman and Kitty. I need to get this wrapped up by four, maybe four thirty, so I can get home in time for school to start.” He couldn’t hold back a yawn. He just wanted to sleep.
Batman and Robin exchanged a glance and Batman put away his weapon. “I’ve never heard of you or this Amity before. You’re a kid, who is your Justice League mentor? Why aren’t they here?”
“I… What? Justice League mentor? What are you talking about? All of my mentors are ghosts.”
Robin snorted. “Who informed you that it was your responsibility to monitor this portal that allows these ghosts to invade? Why are you the only one preventing attacks such as this?”
Danny bristled. “I’m not alone! Sam and Tucker and my sister help me!”
“Are they kids like you?” asked Batman.
“If by like me you mean ghosts, of course not. They’re fully alive. I’m the only ghost of the group.”
“No,” said Batman after a pause. “That’s not what I meant. I wanted to know if they were teenagers who still go to school like you or if they were adults you worked with.”
Danny shrugged. “Jazz is starting college next year, but yeah. They’re my friends.”
Batman let out a long breath. “Right. And why do you think the Justice League is expecting you, specifically, to monitor this portal?”
Danny threw up his hands. “Because you told me that!” He saw Batman open his mouth to say something and quickly added, “Not you specifically, but, like, the League. This guy Constantine came by a month or two after the portal opened and saw me and relaxed. Said he was glad to see I was already handling things there. Gave me a number and laughed and said if anyone could handle the situation, it’d be me, but I could call if I needed back up.” He shrugged. “And he was right. So far I have been able to handle it. This is an exception and I’ll get it fixed in a few hours tops.”
Robin ground his teeth. “That lazy magician.”
Batman also muttered something under his breath. “Thank you, Phantom. For doing so much on your own. If you tell us how to free Batman and Superman, we can handle it from here.”
“What?” Danny shook his head in confusion. “What are you talking about? You need specialized weapons that I don’t have on me and containment devices and access to a portal to the Realms to get rid of them. Seriously, I can get this taken care of. Just tell me where Batman is.”
Batman sighed again. “We don’t have much of a choice. Fine. But will you be able to get us these weapons and containment devices if we requested some of you? We’ll pay you, of course. And we’d like more details on what you’ve been dealing with. I’m afraid Constantine… did not share the details of your dealings with the rest of us.”
“Yeah, sure. The weapons are made by Drs. Jack and Maddie Fenton of FentonWorks, based out of Amity Park, Illinois. Their son Danny can help you pick out the most useful ones. Some are more torture device than anything, though, so definitely avoid those. Danny will be able to tell you the difference.”
Batman nodded once, jaw clenched. “Thank you. Now, I’ve just gotten an update on the possessed Batman’s location. Follow us.”
-----
Dick is pretending to be Batman here. If they have a "normal" batman out, then they can show the possessed batman is an imposter.
I saw some debate on the original over whether Johnny would possess Batman or Superman. To me, the answer was obvious. He'd possess Batman because he wanted to take the Batmobile for a spin.
Meanwhile, Kitty is the smart one. She'd go for Superman because then she could use his powers and her own to 1) punish Johnny and 2) prevent anyone from stopping them.
Regarding Constantine: He made an oops, but it's not (fully) his fault. Due to time missions from Clockwork, Phantom is shown to be thousands of years old and is known for fantastic feats. If Constantine had known this was some fourteen year old newly dead kid, he'd have acted differently. Instead, he thinks Danny is older than he is with millenia of experience.
This is free for anyone to continue!

It is known that Hanguang-Jun, every new moon, goes deep into the woods.
No one knows what he does there nor why he leaves only during the new moons, and even more confusingly, why he takes a rabbit lantern with him. Lan Sizhui is the only disciple who dares ask him once about the lantern, and Hanguang-Jun’s reply lends nothing that means anything, leaving them just as in the dark as before.
They don’t know about a man with a red ribbon in his hair. They don’t know what he means to Lan Wangji.
His uncle, if asked why Lan Wangji goes off to into the night, would say to night hunt. Perhaps, privately, he thinks the same as Lan Xichen would answer: to mourn someone he once loved.
Who did Hanguang-Jun love? the disciples would whisper. Who did he love that he mourns every new moon? Who occupied his heart so completely that he has not missed a new moon in six years?
They do not ask Lan Xichen, and Lan Xichen does not ask Lan Wangji. Lan Wangji is relieved by it if only because he doesn’t know how to explain that he goes not to mourn.
He waits. The lantern is behind him, lit so it casts warm shadows on the trees in front of him, the light gentle against his back. He’s already chased away anything that could disrupt them, already quieted even in the wind as he waits in the woods so dark he can barely see past this small ring lit by a lantern whose flame burns with the steady thrum of his heart in his chest.
He always senses him a moment before he sees his shadow, like a flicker in his peripheral vision, like a sudden warmth in his throat, a gentle ease to the tension in his shoulders that he can never quite place until it’s gone, until he’s here.
And just like that, Lan Wangji breathes. He know better than to turn around and fracture the careful balance they maintain at the darkest hour under a moon unseen.
The light of the lantern is all that holds them together. Someone could walk by, not even two meters away, and never see anything at all.
The lantern does not waver. It remains steady as the rise and fall of Lan Wangji’s chest.
Lan Wangji feels him step closer, like an imprint in the air. He wants to reach, just once, touch the shadow that lingers just behind him as if it’s soft silk between his fingers, solid enough to pull ever so gently into his arms.
He does not. Instead, he speaks, slow, quiet, like a man falling in love again, after a thousand nights, after dreaming every night and wishing every day, heart growing more tender with every second.
“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji says.
“Lan Zhan.”

while i just had him rip his stomach open instead in the end they deadass got a physicist friend to answer this so here y'all go if y'all need writing tips for intangible stuff 😭😭😭

Astarion Fic: It's Not Fair
"https://archiveofourown.org/works/49911997"
Or full below the cut
Gender neutral Tav x Astarion
Quiet Moments. If you had to put your relationship into only a few words, you would use those. Quiet Moments with Astarion, on the road traveling, in the aftermaths of a battle, or at night as you curl against each other’s arms.
In the moments where he’s trying to worm his way out of something, giving you that adorable little smile and some pet name that’s sure to make you blush. And you can’t help but laugh at his antics, swearing to yourself that you’ll scold him later. But you never do, you never can.
“It’s not fair. It’s not fair how much I love you. You always make me laugh when I’m trying to be cross with you.”
In the moments you sit beside the fire, him sitting between your legs away from the group as you run gentle hands through his curly hair. Softly working out knots and tugging leaves from it. Even after he no longer looks like he ran through a bush, your hands still in his hair, enjoying the soft smile on his face and little sighs he hopes no one hears as his head rests against your thigh.
If either of you dared look towards the rest of your party you would meet their eyes. No one ever said anything, no one dared after hearing you chew out Lae’zel once for a comment. But they couldn’t admit it was a soft scene to watch, something many of them wished for themselves but could admit you two fit together well. Lae’zel would call it a “strong match” or Wyll would comment how “the heart knows what it needs.” That’s all that would be said, voices whispered among them as you hum softly in your own world with your dearest love.
It’s within the moments after nightmares when he jolts awake with the feeling of blood on his hands and drowning as it clogs his throat, where you hold him close with soft whispers as he clings to you. The moments he lets that wall down and shows you his cracks, and you stay by him and help him mend them one by one. You swear that you’ll help him fight his shadows, to be a place he can come when the world becomes too much.
And he almost can’t stand it. The damage he feels he has sustained, too much to possibly earn your gentle way with him.
“It’s not fair. It’s not fair how much I love you. You make me ache, yet you stay and hold me like this. You hold me like I’m something pure, something not yet shattered by the damned world. You hold me like I’m something meant to be treasured, and not some broken mind and torn soul. It’s not fair.”
It’s in the moments you dance together, over branches and rooftops. That despite being so much older than you, he can’t help but trip over his feet. But you never laugh at him for it, only tug him close as you press your forehead between his shoulder blades. Letting out a breathy sigh as you sway up above it all.
It’s in the mornings. Blinking away sleep to find his head curled up into the crook of your arm, skin eerily cold but a comfort you’ve come to enjoy as it is your reminder that he is here with you. Tossing him his shirt as you work on your armor, eyes casually glancing over him, scars and all before he catches your eye and makes some crass joke. And you laugh, even though he’s made the same one a dozen times before. But every time you still laugh, you laugh because it comes from him, and you know he means it a little more each time.
In the sunrises you promise to spend together, never knowing which one might be his last to see for a while. His hand is in yours as you watch the sun bloom over the horizon. His eyes are so pretty in the sunlight, gleaming in the morning as he turns towards you to press a soft kiss to your forehead as you rest it on his shoulder.
It’s not fair. It’s not fair how much I love you darling. I’ve seen so much, and I know exactly what I want now. I want this, us, what we’ve made together for as long as Father Time will allow us.”
“Christ you’ll be the death of me won’t you darling?”
"Perhaps I might be. But regardless of what our time together brings, I'll spend my days so close to you 'cause if I'm stood here, then I'm stood here.
And I'll stand here, I'll stand here with you"
I have more of these on my Ao3. Plan on posting them all over here at some point.

'It’s like the sun has entered Gary’s very soul. Every part of him burns with those words as they pound with each beat of his heart. Engulfing his body in divine flames, he is consumed entirely. This is all that exists.' - Chapter 1 of Better the Devil You Know
finished editing the first chapter of a project I wrote 2 years ago and plan to finish in November. it's a wordy, indulgent fic about my two favorite traumatized men from a campaign long, long ago.
it is explicit in nature, though the first chapter is mild, the content warnings are marked in the tags.

(((I’m still doing a TUA re-watch, so I'm still not at season 3, but I'm at work and I'm bored and this AU idea kinda wouldn’t leave me alone. it’s just a very short little blurb and I highly doubt I'll do much more with it, but it’s an idea, lmao.))).
When Vanya was four, a natural disaster had struck the city she and her mom had lived in.
For years, her mother spoke of a bright angel that had saved them both, bathing them in blinding ethereal white. Vanya remembered that light, but she also remembered the deafening, head-splitting, ringing sound of her own cries as it echoed off the rubble. It wasn't until she was 14, when she realized that that angel her mother spoke so highly of, had been Vanya all along.

Happy Birthday @angelaiswriting
▪️◻️▪️◻️▪️◻️▪️◻️▪️◻️▪️◻️▪️◻️▪️◻️▪️◻️▪️◻️▪️◻️▪️◻️ ▪️
"So what are you getting Angela for her birthday this year? You can hardly do better than getting a dog" Anatoly inquired while they were waiting for their lunch to be ready at the food truck around the corner from the garage.
Vladimir glanced down at said dog by his feet, contemplating his answer for a moment. He knew what he wanted to do, but he was reluctant to share it with his brother. "I'm taking her on a trip."
"Trip to where" Toly asked, flicking the butt of his cigarette to the side.
Vladimir tried sounding as casual as possible when answering "The mountains. She likes hiking."
Anatoly nearly choked on his own spit before barking out a laugh. "YOU will be hiking? In dress shoes?"
Vlad shot his brother a glare, instantly regretting his previous words. It'll be worth it he reminded himself.
On the morning of her birthday, after he had presented her sweet treats for breakfast just like the year before, he finally revealed why she had to take a few days off from her job for her birthday.
"YOU'RE TAKING ME CAMPING" Angela nearly pushed him over when she threw herself at him for a hug.
"Нет, I'm taking you into the mountains. In a hotel, not camping" he clarified with a chuckle.
She pulled back from their hug to look at him. "But we're going hiking, right?"
Vladimir pulled her into his arms again and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "Да."
Despite Angela bouncing around like a chihuahua on coke, it took them another two hours to get their stuff, the dog and themselves ready.
The road trip into the mountains gave Angela a good amount of time to study the area surrounding the hotel and picking their trails.
Vlad thought it was a cute sight - especially when she showed the map to the dog, who curiously peered at his owners from the backseat.
The hotel was nice. If it were for him, they could've spent the next few days just eating, sleeping, fucking and maybe have a swim in the pool.
But Vlad reminded himself that this trip was not for him. Angela integrated herself into his lifestyle every day, she deserves to do something she truly likes doing.
The next morning when they left the hotel after a quick breakfast, there was an adorable spring in Angela's step. The dog more jumped than walked beside her, infected by his owners excitement.
Vladimir on the other hand felt equally uneasy and happy. His brother was right to laugh at him. A moscow city boy in hiking boots and carrying a backpack - it felt wrong.
But seeing his girlfriend's smile when she looked back at him over her shoulder, made it worth it.
She truly was the sweetest thing he's ever had in his life. It equally elated and terrified him if he thought about it too long. So he didn't.
Talking about sweet things tho. They haven't even really entered the trail yet and it seemed Angela and the dog have already been distracted by an old bubble gum vending machine in a picnic area.
When they heard his footsteps approaching, both of them comically turned to him at the same time and with  matching puppy dog eyes. "Can we get one? There's mood rings in them too!"
Vlad rolled his eyes with a sigh "Мышка, you know it's a scam yeah?"
"Pleeeease! It's my birthday."
"I don't have any change" Vlad argued further, hoping to deter her from getting a disgusting treat.
He could see that she was about a second away from stomping her foot and it nearly made him smile while he lit a cigarette.
"You're a gangster. Can't you like break into it or something" she argued.
Now he couldn't suppress a chuckle. "Oh no! This life has started to rub off on you! Becoming a bad girl are we" he teased, finding genuine amusement in her antics.
Angela was downright pouting now "I'm not..."
"Just joking Мышка. Relax. I'm getting the toy for you" he assured her with another chuckle.
Her answering smile was almost too much to handle.
Vladimir accepted the kiss and the hug, before instructing in a whisper "You gotta keep a lookout for me ok?"
She pulled back from their hug and gave him a serious nod. "I can do that."
Vlad kept it together for all but 5 seconds after he watched her turn around to scan the nearby area for someone coming.
His snort made Angela turn back around in confusion "What?"
Vladimir shook his head, a smile still on his face. "I was joking. No one's gonna put me into prison because I stole a fucking expired chewing gum."
"You're a jerk!"
He caught her hand before she could punch him in the arm and pressed a kiss to her knuckles. "Should not be a surprise. Now let me get you that stupid thing."
Clamping his cigarette between his lips, it only took a minute of prying at the edge of the plastic lid with his sturdy knife until there was a *crack* and pieces of plastic splintered off, leaving a gap big enough to reach inside.
Vlad pulled a little ball out of there and dropped it in Angela's waiting hands.
The girl immediately ripped it open and pushed the ring on her finger, waiting with bated breath for it to change color.
"Look!" she exclaimed, holding her hand out for him to see the now blueish stone.
Vlad chuckled fondly as he grabbed her hand and pressed another kiss to it. "Very pretty. Now let's go."
Keeping her hand in his, he lead her onto the trail.
Vladimir knew it would suck. But he didn't predict just how much. His feet were aching and so were his backpack loaded shoulders after only an hour of walking.
He refrained from complaining too much though, reminding himself that he has suffered far worse things in silence throughout his life.
A little less than 3 hours and likely a thousand panorama pictures taken, they finally reached the top of the mountain.
Vladimir's first instinct was to collapse on the bench that stood there.
But as soon as he reminded himself of the reason he couldn't do that, he stopped noticing his exhaustion altogether.
"Look how beautiful Volodya! Trees how far you can see. Doesn't that make you feel like staying out here forever?"
Angela's excited exclamation ripped him from his thoughts and he put the backpack down onto the bench before joining her and the dog in looking at the valley below them.
Vlad wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, pulling her against his chest and taking in the view.
She was kinda right. It was a beautiful sight. With it not yet being noon, the colorful forests in the valley below them were still covered in a light fog.
It looked like a painting.
"It looks nice" he conceded, "But it would get too boring out here. Too quiet."
"Yeah really boring not having to worry about you possibly dying every other week" she muttered under her breath.
Vladimir heard her nonetheless and  pressed a kiss to the side of her head. "I always come back to you eh?"
"You can't promise that" Angela mumbled, the pout evident in her voice.
Vladimir knew now was the perfect moment.
He hummed and affectionately squeezed his arms around her middle before pulling one of them away to get the thing out of his pocket.
Surprisingly he didn't feel as nervous as he used to, every time he thought about doing it before.
With steady hands he reached around her again and took her hand with the previously aquired mood ring in his.
They both watched it shimmer in a light greenish color for a moment until Vladimir gently pulled it off.
"Wha- " before Angela could protest further or question him, he pushed a diamond ring with a frame of yellow sapphires in its place on her left ring finger.
"I can promise that I will always fight to come home to my wife. Is that a promise good enough" he asked, his steady voice not betraying his nerves.
She was tense in his arms and it took a moment until she choked out "Are... are you serious?"
Vladimir took a deep breath and carefully turned her around, his hands on her shoulders.
The dog apparently felt the tension in the air and nudged in between them, intent on finding out what was happening.
They both glanced down to him for a second before looking back at each other.
Vlad tried not to panic at her teary eyes and just nodded, his face serious. "Да. Want me to get on one knee? I don't trust these rocks here but I will if you..."
Angela reached her hands out to grasp  his face with a shake of her head. "No! That's not... that's not what I'm asking. I meant, if you really want to marry me?"
Vladimir dropped his hands down to her waist and pulled her closer against him, adjusting his legs so the dog could stay squished between them.
"Мышка, wouldn't be asking if I didn't want to" he teased with a grin, trying to lighten the mood and cover his own nerves at her not answering.
Then she grinned.
"Ok."
"Ok?"
"Yes. I want to be your wife" the shaky words were accompanied by the tears trickling from the corner of her eyes.
Vladimir wiped the tears off her cheek before he leaned down to lay his forehead against hers, willing his heart to stop trying to beat out of his chest.
A moment later his lips found hers in a soft kiss.
Vladimir stumbled and was barely able to stay on his feet when Angela launched herself into his arms.
His half-hearted complaints were halted by her lips pressing against his more insistingly.
When they finally pulled back a little whole later, it left both of them panting.
There was a beat of silence as Vlad carefully put her back onto the uneven ground.
Then.
"Does that mean I can now officially boss around Sergei, Piotr and the rest?"
Vladimir's sudden snort shooed a few birds out of the nearby trees. "Pretty sure you could have already done that. My girl gets whatever she wants."
"Whatever?"
"Да."
"How about another dog?"

Bring Me Home Arc 3 Part 5
So it's been about 3 weeks since my promised update. Oops. Main issue was breaking my first bone as I'm sure most of you saw. On my right wrist, of course. And being right handed, meant I could barely type for that first week.
But also this is a transition section of the story. And I was struggling with how to best write said transition. I am finally happy with it, though. To make up for being so late, this is a long one! Hope you enjoy. The total word count for this arc is now up to 9.6k. Do with that as you will.
Story Summary: Jack and Maddie install a new ghost shield on the house which activates the moment Danny tries to step into his home. His secret is out and his parents are determined to excise the ghost from their son.
Luckily Danny isn't alone. The Young Justice, Sam, Tucker, and Jazz aren't going to leave him to suffer.

Pain was a constant through the rest of that never-ending drive. Danny would wake screaming from the nightmares only to continue screaming from the pain.
Tim was there every time. His words were soft and soothing, even when Danny couldn’t make out their meaning between the throbbing of his human chest and aching core. Any time he woke, Tim did his best to force ectoplasm and liquid foods down his throat. If Danny couldn’t manage even that much, he was given more of Frostbite’s ice chips.
When they finally, finally stopped for the last time, Danny cried in relief. Kon carried him out of the van, a blanket under him as a makeshift stretcher. TTK meant that he was held perfectly flat even though Kon was only holding one end.
Tim’s worried face peered down at him. “Kon’s going to fly you up, okay? I’ll let you in through the window. I’ve disabled all cameras, so no one will see you.”
Danny think he nodded. He wanted to. He must’ve done something because Tim brushed his fingers across Danny’s forehead, nodded, and disappeared from view. Then Danny was leaving the van. For the first time in Clockwork only knew how long. It was daytime, but the sky was overcast and gray.
When Kon flew with him, it wasn’t the weightlessness of his own flight. Instead, he felt like they were fighting gravity. He hated it.
But it was only the matter of a few moments before they approached an open window and Kon carried him in. He was in too much pain to take in most of the room, but he did see a TV bigger than any he’d seen outside of Sam’s home theater.
Kon didn’t stop, and he was carried into another room—a bedroom As they approached the bed, the sheets folded back on their own. Kon set him down as gently as possible, but pain shot up from his chest at even the slight change of position.
He stopped breathing, even the movements of his lungs were too much. Instead he just let the pain wash over him. Wave after wave of it. Vaguely, he was aware of someone grabbing his hand, of voices above him.
Gloved hands pressed something cold to his lips and Danny gratefully took the ice and the numbing coolness it promised. Not enough for full relief, nothing could give that right now. But by the time it was gone, he could at least think through the pain.
This time when he opened his eyes, he saw Tim’s worried face, Kon standing behind him.
“Back with us?” asked Tim.
Danny grimaced and nodded. He tried a shallow breath. It hurt, but he could somewhat function through it. “Sorry.”
Tim rolled his eyes. “I don’t want to hear apologies from you for at least a month. This isn’t your fault.”
“Sorry,” Danny repeated.
Tim just huffed. “How’s the bed? Do you need anything? Extra pillows?”
Danny bit his lip and let himself feel. The bed was soft. As far from the feel of the exam table as it was possible to be. It was also leagues better than the camping mattress he’d been using in the van. Honestly, it was probably better than his mattress back home. And the pillow was the perfect height for lying on his back. “It’s good.”
The look Tim gave him made Danny think he wasn’t believed, but after a moment Tim just nodded. “If you’re sure. Now, Kon and I are going to have to change your bandages and reapply the necessary creams and poultices. After, I want you to try and eat a little more.”
Danny groaned, already dreading the procedure. But it had to be done. He ignored the tears he couldn’t stop and met Tim’s eyes. “Just do it.”
Kon grimaced. “I’ll make it quick.”
Danny tried to smile back but he knew he failed when neither Kon nor Tim looked any less concerned. “I know. Thanks.”
And it was true. Kon’s TTK made the process so much easier that it would have been otherwise. However, there was no way to make it entirely painless. Especially when removing the final layer. Danny couldn’t keep from crying out as the gauze stuck to his wounds. Finally, his chest was bared to the world. Danny trembled with the pain of it before gathering his courage and looking down.
This was his first time seeing his chest since he’d been pulled out of the lab. The incisions were inflamed and leaking, though they were already scabbing over. Green ectoplasm and red blood mingled in the secretions.
Tim and Kon didn’t wait for him to catalog every mark, however. They quickly passed jars of Frostbite’s concoctions to each other and set to work covering every area of his chest. Cold spread in the wake of their ministrations and Danny nearly wept in relief.
“This is already looking better, Danny,” said Tim.
Danny scoffed, then winced as it pulled at the injuries. He clenched his eyes shut as he reminded his body he didn’t need to breathe.
“He’s right,” said Kon. “I don’t think even I’d be healing this quickly from injuries like yours.”
Danny didn’t say anything as they continued to work. When they were done with the medications, Kon reapplied the bandages. Tim gave him another piece of ice which Danny took with relief.
Danny mumbled a thanks around the ice.
“Anytime,” said Kon. “Mind if I take a picture of you so everyone can see you’re safe in Gotham now? Sam’s been texting me non-stop asking for updates.”
Sam’s concern is what finally allowed Danny to smile for the first time since he’d returned home and his parents had learned his secret. “Pull up the sheet first. And just to her and Tuck and Jazz, please. I don’t want your entire team to see me like this.”
“’Course,” agreed Kon. Without Kon moving at all, the sheet rose up out of the blankets at the base of the bed and covered him up to his neck. Kon then took out his phone and snapped a photo before tapping at the screen.
Immediately it started ringing in his hands.
“Are you up for talking to them?” asked Tim.
Danny shook his head. “Want to, can’t.”
Kon waved him off. “I’ll tell them what’s up. Eat something and get some sleep.” Kon turned away. As he left the room, Danny hear him answer the phone with a, “Hey, babe,” before he shut the door, muffling all noise.
“Yogurt, applesauce, or pudding?” asked Tim once they were alone.
“Do I have to?”
“Yes. And another vial of ectoplasm.”
Danny sighed and asked for the applesauce. He only managed a few bites alternated with sips of ectoplasm before darkness pulled him under once more.
---
A throbbing pain slowly dragged him out of the blackness. He tried to cling to unconsciousness, but the throbbing was inescapable. With a quiet moan, he blinked awake in a dark room. For once, he was able to think past the pain. It was a constant, throbbing presence, but not as all consuming as it had been.
The mattress he was lying on was soft. So, so different to the hard table that had been his bed for those long hours in the lab. He twisted his head and rotated his jaw, relieved when the action wasn’t hindered by harsh restraints.
He was in Gotham, out of their reach. Tim was here and he was safe.
He was safe from his parents. His parents had— had— Danny’s breath caught and he couldn’t finish the thought. He pulled in a gasping breath. The ball in the back of his throat made it so hard to breathe.
He’d just… never thought they’d actually do it. He’d been so sure that once they realized who he was, they’d hug him and continue to love him. He couldn’t hold back the sob, loud in the silent room. His eyes burned and he didn’t even try to stop the tears.
Next to him, on the floor, blankets rustled and Danny tensed.
“Danny?” asked a sleepy voice from the floor. Tim was here?
“Sorry,” choked out Danny through ragged breaths. He was safe. His parents hated him. Nothing would ever be the same again.
“Don’t be.” The mattress dipped next to him as Tim sat down. “It’d be weird if you didn’t have a few breakdowns.”
“What’s going to happen to them?” Danny tried to wrap his arms around himself, but cried out at even the light pressure on his chest.
Tim pushed aside the thin sheet he’d been covered in and grabbed one of his hands. Danny clung to him until the sharp pain faded. And when it did, his breathing was more normal. His core still ached at the thought of his parents, but the physical pain had helped chase away the panic attack. At least for now.
“What’s going to happen to them?” he asked again; this time his voice was more stable.
“They’ve been picked up by the Justice League. Tucker is helping with getting all their files transferred to document their history. Jazz and Sam have been giving reports on their behavior, lab and home safety measures, and their actions. Others have begun questioning the general public on Amity. There’s currently a few magic users there trying to determine if they can shut down the portal.”
Something in Danny screamed out at the idea of the portal being gone and he tensed. “No! They can’t shut it down! Please, you can’t. It’s— I— you can’t.”
“What? What are you talking about? We have to at least look for a way to shut it down!”
He was crying. Why was he crying. “You can’t,” Danny repeated. “If it’s gone…” he trailed off. Why did he feel so strongly about this? The portal had done nothing but cause him problems since it had turned on. “I died there. I died for it,” he whispered. Something in him knew it was important. His ghost half refused to accept that the portal could just disappear. “If it’s gone, if it can just be turned off, what was it all for?”
And even that wasn’t the full story. The portal was his parents’ life work. It was the thing they spent time working on. It was what stole them away from Danny and Jazz. They missed Jazz’s recitals to work on it. They missed Danny’s science fairs. Every forgotten dinner or event could be tied back to that portal. And if it was gone, what was the point of it all?
Tim sighed and squeezed his hand. “We can’t just leave it open, Danny. It’s not safe.”
“I can design a door. A better one. One that actually works. Just… Leave it. Please. I can make it safe.”
Tim bit his lip and stared at Danny for a minute. “I’ll let them know it’s an option. I don’t know if they’ll go for it. Constantine is not happy with it existing. But I’ll see what I can do.”
Danny’s shoulders slumped in relief. “Thank you.”
Tim gave a half smile. “What are friends for? Now, think you’re up for something to eat? What do you want?”
Danny groaned. “Don’t wanna.”
Tim ruffled his hair. “Sorry, Polaris. Non-negotiable.”
“Chocolate pudding?” asked Danny.
“Sure. We can—”
Before Tim finished, a knock sounded on the door. “Someone ask for chocolate pudding?” called out Kon.
Tim laughed. “Come on in!” Without delay, the door opened and Kon walked in. It shut on its own behind him.
Even Danny couldn’t hold back the smile. He really had some great friends. “Spying on me, are you?” he asked.
“Not my fault you were talking so loud. Woke me up and everything!”
Danny, very maturely, stuck out his tongue. The grief he felt over his parents was hiding, ready to rear up again at any minute, but for now he had two friends with him. He would focus on that.
For the first time, Danny ate the entire pudding container and drank an entire vial of ectoplasm and wasn’t ready to pass out when he was done.
“Can we put on a movie or something? I don’t want to sit in the dark and quiet right now,” said Danny.
“’Course, Polaris,” said Tim. “What do you want to watch?”
“Kon, where’d we leave off in your movie list?” asked Danny.
But Kon held up his hands and shook his head. “I’m definitely going to fall asleep halfway through if we’re watching a movie. Pick whatever you want and don’t bring me into it.”
Danny pouted at him, but didn’t push. Kon hadn’t spent the last however many days sleeping. So he squeezed Tim’s hand and asked, “Then how about we put on some Star Trek? Short episodes and if we fall asleep, we’ve already seen them.”
Tim’s teeth were bright in the dark as he grinned. “I can definitely arrange that. You just lie there and keep looking pretty and I’ll pull it up. TOS or TNG?”
“What the hell does that mean?” asked Kon.
Both Danny and Tim ignored him. “I’m far from pretty,” retorted Danny. At Tim’s look, he rolled his eyes and said, “TOS.”
“Coming right up!”
Mounted to the wall facing the foot of the bed was a TV, smaller than the one in the living room, but still bigger than the one he had in his living room back home. Within minutes the opening, “Space, the final frontier,” rang through the room.
“Sorry, bit loud,” said Tim before adjusting it down a touch.
Danny didn’t bother replying as the episode started. Then Tim handed over a water bottle and settled back on the floor.
“What are you doing down there?” asked Danny.
“Getting comfortable? Where else would I go?”
Danny rolled his eyes, not that anyone could see. “This bed is huge. Sit next to me.”
“Won’t that jostle you?”
“Kon, move me over closer to the edge. Then you and Tim can join me.”
Kon laughed. “I think I’m going to go back to bed. I’m a morning person, unlike you two. But sure, I’ll move you to make room for Tim.”
Danny grit his teeth as Kon put his hands under his shoulders. Then he was wrapped in the strange sensation of TTK and his entire body was picked up and moved closer to the edge of the bed. Even as gentle as he was, pain radiated at the movement.
Danny clenched his eyes shut and stopped breathing until it passed. When it did, he slowly blinked open his eyes until the black spots faded and patted the bed next to him. “Get in, Secrets.”
“Are you sure?”
Danny glared and Tim grinned sheepishly as did as instructed.
But then he still tried to leave too much space. “Get closer.”
Tim grumbled under his breath, but shifted over a few more inches. He was sitting more upright than Danny was, but it was fine. Danny leaned his head against Tim’s side and finally let himself pay attention to the episode.
Next to him, Tim stiffened, but then relaxed and rested a hand on Danny’s head. “I’m glad you’re here, Polaris.”
Danny just hummed and let the show and Tim’s warmth help chase away the panic and grief he could still feel waiting for him.
---
Within two days, Danny was mostly able to sit upright. Frostbite’s medicines really were miraculous. Though he wished he could go to the Far Frozen and get stuck in a pod unconscious for a few hours and wake up fully healed.
He was video chatting with Ellie on the PDA Tucker had left him, complaining about being confined to bed.
She grimaced in sympathy. “I hate being stuck in one place.”
Danny laughed, then winced. “Trust me, gremlin, we know. You can’t even stay in the same city for more than a week.”
Ellie frowned and looked off to the side.
“What’s wrong?”
“What if—” she cut herself off and bit on her lip. Danny let her collect her thoughts. “I’ve been thinking of joining you. In Gotham.”
“What?” Danny was pretty sure his mouth was hanging open. Ellie had never expressed an interest in coming to stay with him before, instead prioritizing her travels through both Earth and the Realms. “You want to come here?”
She frowned and glared at him. “You told me Superboy is there! And he’s a clone, too. I want to meet him.” Then she looked away. More quietly, she added, “’Sides, who’s gonna be able to keep your ass safe from ghosts if someone decides to attack while you’re injured? You certainly can’t protect yourself right now.”
For the first time since his parents captured him, Danny felt his core trill in happiness. She cared about him. “Of course you can come. I know Kon’s been hoping to meet you one of these days, too.”
She grinned widely at him. “Great.” She spun her PDA around and showed off the aerial view of a city. When she turned it back, she paused on the gargoyle she was sitting next to. “Because I’m already here. How do I find you?”
Danny’s mouth was hanging open again. “You— Ellie!” But he was grinning and holding back laughter, too. “I have no idea. Let me call in Kon and Tim. Maybe one of them can direct you.”
He didn’t even have to call for them before Kon was pushing open his door. “You need us?” he asked.
“Ellie wants to visit. Can one of you tell her how to get here?”
“Sure,” said Tim. “Where is she?”
Danny shrugged and held out the PDA. “Somewhere in the city. But I don’t know where.”
Tim blinked at him for a moment before shrugging and taking the device. “Well that makes it easier.” He looked down at the screen. “Hey, Ellie.”
“Oh my god, you’re Superboy! Huge fan,” she exclaimed. Kon had shoved himself next to Tim so he could see her.
He grinned. “I’m a huge fan of you, too. Sam’s told me some stories.”
“Glad you’re not dead anymore.”
Danny smacked his face when he heard her say that. Tim froze, wearing a fixed smile that Danny could see right through.
“Just tell them where you are,” said Danny as loud as he could.
“I’m getting there!” protested Ellie.
Kon burst out laughing. “I like you, Ellie.”
Danny couldn’t quite make out her reply, but it was enough to get Tim back into the conversation. “Turn invisible and fly down to the street. Show me the nearest street sign, okay? And then I’ll help you get here.”
“Or I could just fly out and meet her and bring her myself,” offered Kon.
“Yes!” cried Ellie. “That!”
Tim shrugged. “Just show us the nearest street sign, okay? I’ll figure out a good landmark for Kon to meet you at.”
Danny let his mind drift as they discussed potential meeting spots. Not even ten minutes later, Kon left.
Tim ran his hands through his hair and returned the PDA to Danny. “They should be back within twenty minutes. Anything we should get ready for Ellie?”
Danny shrugged. “No idea when the last time she ate would’ve been. Couldn’t hurt to have something ready.”
“Fine. I’ll blend you a smoothie and put a pizza in the oven. And set up the couch for her to sleep on.”
“Thanks, Secrets.”
“’Course, Polaris. Need anything before I go?”
Danny waved him off. “I’m good.”
Once he was alone, he pulled up the group chat with Sam, Tucker, and Jazz.
Danny: Ellie’s come to gotham Jazz: Oh good! She arrived. How’s she doing? Danny: You knew she was on her way? And didn’t tell me Danny: Betrayal! Danny: She and Kon haven’t made it to the apartment yet. He just left to find her Sam: Oh good. Have Ellie talk to him about the benefits of stealing child support from an unethical creator Tucker: I’m sure both Tim and I will be *thrilled* to help him out Danny: He’s not stealing his child support? Sam: Nope. He’s an idiot about it. Danny: We gotta fix that Jazz: Tell us when she’s there! Jazz: Have Tim or Kon send a picture of the two of you Danny: Really? I’m still bed bound! Jazz: Picture. Jazz: It’s an order.
Danny groaned, but he was grinning through it. His friends were the best. He closed out of the chat and pulled up a game to kill time until Ellie got there.
He only made it through a level and a half before he heard a squealed, “Danny!” and running footsteps.
Ellie came to an abrupt stop at the side of his bed. Her hoodie had a few new patches since the last time he saw her, and she was frowning as she looked him over. “Are you really going to be okay?”
Danny held out an arm. “Come here, gremlin.”
She hesitated, but when he didn’t say anything else, she climbed into bed with him and Danny wrapped his arm around her in a gentle hug. He wished he could hug her tighter, but this would have to do.
“I’ll recover. Promise. I’m already doing better.”
“This is you doing better?” sniffed Ellie.
Danny winced. Maybe he shouldn’t have said that. “I know. It’s a lot. Feels like a lot to me, too. But I’m okay. Or I will be.”
She sniffed and turned her face into his shoulder. Her voice was so soft he could barely hear it. “I can’t lose any more brothers.”
Danny’s eyes burned at that and he patted her shoulder. “I’m safe now. I promise. You’re not gonna lose me.” He wiped away his own tears as she shook under his arm. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head and wished things had been different in so many ways.

A wild Danielle appeared! I've been waiting to introduce her. Next big introduction will be some of Tim's siblings.
Honestly, there's a few things I was excited about introducing this segment! Can you guess the other big reveal I've been sitting on?
I'm going to wait to write any more of Arc 3 until I get all of Arc 2 on AO3. I've ended up rewriting more than I planned on, so editing is taking longer than I expected. Also the wrist. That hindered things a bit, too.

HI THIS IS FOR MY MAINLY CQL CANON DIVERGENCE FIC. I’m soooooooooo excited, featuring wwx as the yiling patriarch and lwj’s husband 😏, but neither wwx or lwj know. Trust my process I’m working on it
Snippet:
And yet, Lan Wangji sees one person he can still save. If this is how Wei Ying lives on—if this is how Wei Ying’s memory remains—
Lan Wangji, lump in his throat, does what he yearns to do. He stands and steps forward and wraps his arms around the Patriarch, simply holding him there, aware of the blood seeping into his clothes, aware of the darkness licking up his sides, and he gently rests his cheek on the Patriarch’s head.
The Yiling Patriarch goes silent, his energy flaring up and then settling quietly. They both stand there, just breathing.
He’s warm in Lan Wangji’s hold. He smells like blood and the tang of a sword though Lan Wangji knows he doesn’t yield one. He smells like raw power and rage and something that seethes and he smells like the soft scent of wine he was drinking last night, eyes not red then but dark and soft and warm as he’d laughed lightly and sat comfortably across from his husband. He bleeds like a human, but everything about him screams demonic cultivation, screams monster, and yet—
And yet, Lan Wangji gently touches his knuckles to the Patriarch’s bottom lip, wiping the blood there as the Patriarch inhales sharply, trembling before he goes boneless, head landing softly on Lan Wangji’s shoulder.

Do y'all think the Scout's last name is Jones? Like it's a generic last name and he also think Tom Jones is his dad and obviously he'd belive it even more if they had the same last name
