Blake’s final speech in vol 5 amounted to “I don’t know what to do just stop bad Faunus like Adam”

As for Kaitlyn I more so meant the nickname she was given, that was not just an issue of management. But fair point several of the original group are POC. But non the less it seems more likely crwby just wanted to do X-men and failed.

Blake’s speech was about the fact that there are no easy answers to stopping hate. Faunus were getting more rights through Sienna’s tactics, but actual acceptance was harder to achieve because it’s something you cannot force. Saving Haven and stopping Adam helped shift the narrative around Faunus. It didn’t fix everything, nor did Blake claim it would, but it started moving the needle away from where Adam was pushing it.

The White Fang arc isn’t a guidebook on how to successfully develop a more accepting society, it’s a warning about how anger that has a legitimate reason to exist can be validated, channeled and manipulated by selfish people who will ultimately abandon and work against the goals of the affected group when the crisis of said group no longer supports their self-serving interests.

RWBY is willing to accept that maybe there aren’t clear, easy solutions to societal issues but that developing connections and empathy and community with those around us still move us towards a better world—even if hate still exists.

Please do real research before you participate in the Blockout. There are celebrities that I’ve seen be on lists who have spoken up for Gaza, like Selena Gomez, who seem to only be on those lists because they’ve also spoken up for the Israeli hostages. Gen Z and millennials always make fun of boomers for blindly believing things, yet many do little to no research when something like this gets popular. Advocating for Palestine is not antisemitic, but when you start blocking people because they also advocate for Israelis, it is. Also see if the people who you don’t block have spoken up about the many other wars going on that don’t get much attention, like Sudan and the Congo, and ask them to do more

I realize that online activists are way better at understanding aggressive forms of bigotry (IE; people seeing a group as evil and monstrous and wanting to take away their rights because they want to hurt them) than they are at understanding the more paternalistic types of bigotry (IE; thinking a group is fundamentally incompetent and childlike and thus needs to have their rights stripped from them so that they can be properly taken care of). Like, the famous colonialism poem described the people the British wanted to conquer as "half devil and half child", and I feel like we've done much more work on deconstructing the "half devil" part than we have the "half child" part in activist spaces (partly because it's the half child part that well meaning liberals fall for). It means we're especially bad at talking about most forms of sexism, ablism, transandrophobia, aphobia, and the type of racism perpetuated by people with white collar jobs.

Like, I feel like people are way more aware of how transfemmes are marginalized vs how transmascs are marginalized. Most transphobes tend to paint transfemmes as dangerous perverts, while they tend to paint transmascs are helpless children who lack the ability to make decisions about their bodies. And people are just kind of way worse at talking about how transmascs are treated. Like, it's so common to hear people in the queer community to basically act like misgendering a transmasc is an act of mercy. Like, they'll understand why it would be bad and dangerous to put a transfemme person in a men's space, but they'll act like transmascs being placed in women's spaces is a good progressive thing for their own protection. Of course, this isn't to say there's no infantalization of transfemmes, or nobody who sterotypes transmascs as perverted monsters, but that's certainly not the most common narrative.

It's gotten so bad that most of modern feminism has mutated into a capitalist ideology about protecting women from the dangers of the world in a way that lines up almost exactly with what a Victorian gentleman would believe about how women need to be treated. It's gotten to the point where people are called pedophiles on Xwitter for being attracted to pretty normal looking Asian women.

Idk if I can sum all this up in one post because it's basically 50% of all bigotry and people just ignore it. Please reblog this I need people to understand how much this sucks and how big a part of marginalization it is.

Edit 4: Gazans have specifically asked us to put every effort into pushing for a ceasefire instead of donations. "Raising humanitarian aid" is a grift Western governments are pushing right now to deflect from the fact that they're sending billions to Israel to keep carpet bombing Gazans. As long as the blockades are still in place there will never be enough aid for two million people. (UPDATE: PLEASE DONATE to the Gazan's GoFundMe fundraisers to help them buy food and get out of Rafah into Egypt. E-SIMs, food and medical supplies are also essential. Please donate to the orgs linked in the How You Can Help. Go on the strikes. DO NOT STOP PROTESTING.)

The twitter accounts I reposted as it was given to me and I just now realized it had too many Israeli voices and almost none of the Palestinians I'm following, so it's being edited. (Update: done!) also removed sources like Jewish Voices of Peace and Breaking the Silence that do good work but have come under fair criticism from Palestinians.

Supporting the one-state solution is lowest possible bar for allyship. It's "Free Palestine" not "Free half of Palestine and hope Israel doesn't go right back to killing them".

Edit 14 6th May '24: I've stopped updating this masterlist so some things, like journalists still left in Gaza and how to support the student protests are missing. I've had to take a step back and am no longer able to track these things down on my own, and I've hit the '100 links per post' limit, but if you can leave suggestions for updates along with links in either the replies or my asks I will try and add them.
